NewDrip
Hope y'all enjoy. Some cool shots of some simple builds. I'll try to contribute Very nice coils. I like your work and like to see more. Thanks for posting. Edited May 9, 2015 by NewDrip
Bushwick
Thanks! I don't have nearly as much time to build anymore. But I'm sure I'll sneak a few more pics in over time. Just keep your eyes peeled. I'm a long time lurker on this site. (2.5 yrs) NewDrip
EverPresentNoob
Just made a braided coil... 6 strands of 28G wrapped 5 times around a 1/8 drill bit. .23 ohms. flavor is great, vapor prodiction is outstanding. Only issue now is that it gets HOT!! vaping at 40 watts and after about a 5 second lung hit the drip tip is rather hot. I cant take more than 2 or 3 hits before I have to let it cool off. vaping_jake
so we have all played with these coils, the question is what rda do you prefer to put them on. Some of the good rdas have some small holes in their posts. Also i like a plain simple coil cause it has the least amount of warm up time, am i mistaken here? What are your thoughts on battery drain? EverPresentNoob
Well, Im pulling my braided coil out today if that tells you anything... To darn hot. I cant take more than two or three hits before the driptip darn near burns my lips. I have been playing with various parallel coils and like them. they dont seem to spit as much, and have a nice smooth vape with plenty of flavor. Single strand coils I get a lot of spitting, Braided are to hot, claptons spit to much... Im sure its not the coils, but something Im doing wrong, but for me it seems parallels are the best. I know we are talking about two different animals, but I have noticed in my RTAs that the Tiger Wire, and a spaced coil seems to be working best. I was getting a lot of spitting with my 26gauge single wire builds (touching). I guess another thing that has changed is i am wicking different now too. Some of the good rdas have some small holes in their posts. Also i like a plain simple coil cause it has the least amount of warm up time, am i mistaken here? What are your thoughts on battery drain? Ramp up time is dependent on several factors from batteries to wire type. It would seem that complicated build would take longer to ramp up but depending on the type of wire being used, ramp time can be just as fast as an standard coil. I've learn that if I'm doing a more complicated build then use a lower ohm wire like 317L, Titanium or Ni200 and ramp time will be fast. shen_long86
Decided to try dragon coils again. This time i did super nano dragons, 28g 12 wraps on a paperclip @0.5 ohms. Now these really freaking breathe!
HOOKER
heres my latest coil build,, no idea what the resistance will be but I'm positive it wont be in the SubOhm catagory... hahahagagaa just playing around at work & figured you guys would like a good laugh... shen_long86, Tam, Tug and 2 others

EverPresentNoob
So I finally did it. a couple weeks ago someone posted about the Twisted Messes RDA and in the pic there was this awesome looking coil installed. I bought the RDA that day and finally built that first coil I saw installed in it. This coil is twisted 28G / 5 strips of .5mm flat stacked / twisted 28G then stapled with 32G. twisted 4 times on a 1/8 drill. Clocks in at .22 ohms. takes about 1.5 seconds to heat up on my Sigelei 100+ set at 80W. Flavor is freaking phenomenal and vapor is pretty darn good as well. Took about 20 mins to make the coil but it was well worth it. NewDrip and shen_long86

I found http://blackcloudvapes.com he sells pre built twisted messes coils and claptons. But like i said this would be for a guy like me who is too busy on a daily basis to do them myself. EverPresentNoob
yup, smiling all the way. Just rebuilt it but used N80 for the twists. vape seems the same, but the Ohms are .15 now rather than .22. Thinking I may want to put the other one back on. Good thing about this coil is it is so freaking beefy it didnt deform at all when I pulled it out so I can re-use it. Bushwick
So I got my lightning vapes order the other day. I finally sat down last night and decided to try something new. Since this whole "helix" thing seems to have caught on in the build world, I tried my hand at it. (2x) Twisted 26ga Ka1, paralleled and "helixed" with 32ga n80 Meters out to something like .15 (I don't remember exactly and I'm too lazy to check right now). I also didn't take any pictures of the coil after I wrapped it, but here's a picture of the wire. Hand wrapping this stuff is a pain in the ***! Bushwick
More wire shots. I always forget to take coil/glow shots. So, again, this will have to do.22g ka1 twisted with 26g ka1 and helixed with two strands of 32g n80
shen_long86
First attempt at making claptons and i beleive i failed horribly. I know it needs to be wrapped tighter but i tried, 26g core with 28g wrapped around. 5 wraps on a 3.0mm rod @0.35ohms, i will try it and see how it works. Bushwick
Take it really slow when you wrap your claptons, Shen. Take your time so that you can wrap it up nice and close. I know I have to go super slow to make mine look nice. shen_long86

Adversarious1
Spent some time watching coil tutorial videos. I'm holding Bushwick solely responsible for this due to his helixed wires from a couple of weeks ago 😉... Basic single helix coil: twisted 24g Kanthal helixed with two strands of 28g Kanthal. 5 wraps, right at 0.2 ohms, flavor for days and not a bad cloud either. Bushwick
hehehe I'm a bad influence. They're a P.I.T.A. to put together, but once you get them done and look at them, you feel so accomplished. Welcome to the nerd club. Plus they make you look cool. Look at how much cooler I am now! Adversarious1
