Compenstine Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Any one here ever use this in a MOD or have a device using this chip set? 3Rutez mentioned it to me when I briefly mentioned the MOD I'm working on. I was going to build my own basic board to do what I needed but this may be a better option. Just wondering if anyone here has worked with it and had any thoughts on it. The one thing I don't like so much is it being VW with a low end cap of 7 watts. Edited November 19, 2013 by Compenstine

Compenstine Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) That was one I didn't see last night. Thanks for link Proetus very good guide. Edited November 19, 2013 by Compenstine
Proetus Posted November 19, 2013 Posted November 19, 2013 Damit Compenstine, now i want to build a DNA20 mod instead of buying one.
Compenstine Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 (edited) Been looking over there, thanks for pointing out what section to look in. Found some helpful info there. I still may go with this but the DNA 12 may be a better all around option for what I'm doing. I don't know.... May just get one of each and see which is better for my build. They both have pluses and minuses. The OLED display on the 20 is the one thing the 12 is missing that I want in this build. The 12 has the lower ranges and can do sub ohm. Compenstine Posted November 19, 2013 Author Posted November 19, 2013 So far the best price I have found is at The House of Vapor for the DNA 20, The 12 is best at the Evolv site same with the USB charging board.
3Rutez Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 The DNA20 chip has been creating quite the stir, and so many people are building their own mods that utilize the chip. My favorites so far are the NES controller mods. One guy even fabricated a drip tip to compliment his. It is a Mario coin box with a toadstool sitting on top. Just awesome. All of the box mods are going for $150 upwards to $280, and they can't build them fast enough.
Proetus Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Well parts alone will run roughly $100. I imagine buying in bulk will bring that down. However building your own allows for custom options like buttons, fire button, floating 510 connection as well as placement of buttons!
3Rutez Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Like this M57 Clacker mod? lol. The creativity is amazing when it comes to mods.
3Rutez Posted November 20, 2013 Posted November 20, 2013 Here is a pic of that NES controller mod I was talking about.
Compenstine Posted November 20, 2013 Author Posted November 20, 2013 Those are cool. It's stuff like this that keeps me pounding away at my project.
Proetus Posted November 21, 2013 Posted November 21, 2013 I dig the nes controller, been looking at those awhile. While I admire the clacker for the build quality and just general coolness, I couldn't use it. Would sit on the table!
Proetus Posted November 30, 2013 Posted November 30, 2013 Bought my board today! Hunt for buttons begins!
Proetus Posted December 4, 2013 Posted December 4, 2013 It arrived! Smaller then I thought it would be!
WillBlack Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The 20 goes sub ohm as well! Where you people coming up with this?? The DNA12. Atomizer Resistance 1.1 Ohms (minimum) The DNA20. Atomizer Resistance 1.0 Ohms (minimum) And what kind of of sub ohm vaping could you do with with the DNA12's ~ 11.5W output anyway?

And what kind of of sub ohm vaping could you do with with the DNA12's ~ 11.5W output anyway? You are right I stand corrected. I just re-looked at the Data sheet. I'm not sure where I thought the 12 went sub ohm but heh pays to read this stuff when I'm not so tired. I really don't see how the watts could be that big of issue. Just saying. For someone that was realllllly wanting to cloud chase I could, but for me anyway, it wouldn't matter that much that it only went to 11.5 watts. Edited December 9, 2013 by Compenstine
Proetus Posted December 9, 2013 Posted December 9, 2013 The specs read 1ohm, but in reality they will fire down to .6! Compenstine 1
Proetus Posted December 10, 2013 Posted December 10, 2013 With family on the way and christmas here soon, the build and parts buying are on hold until Jan unfortunately.
Compenstine Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 I won't be able to do my build till next year either but having these now:.. 1 DNA 20 1 DNA 12 2 x USB Charger chips puts me a lot closer to getting it done.
Proetus Posted December 11, 2013 Posted December 11, 2013 Are those the evolv charge boards? They work fine, however they are slow. They only charge at 500 milliamps, with dual 18650's will take 10-12 hours. Couple pieces for you to look at Screen Cradle 1 amp charger Battery Holder
Compenstine Posted December 11, 2013 Author Posted December 11, 2013 (edited) Thanks for the heads up and the links. Good info. Not sure yet if I'm going with dual 18650s. Size may be a issue for my mod trying to do two. Edited December 11, 2013 by Compenstine
