New Vapor from Tennessee

I really need help....I tried vaping a few years back but I guess I did not get the right set up as I got tired of it really quick. Now I am trying it again. I have been a pack a day+ smoker on and off for 30 years and am really tired of the monkey on my back so I want to give this a good, hard, honest try. I bought the ego twist and the kanger mini pro tank. Then I got a few different juices. Pineapple upside down cake and cinnamon roll from mt baker were my favorites :yes I thought since I smoked light cigs, that 12 mg nicotine would be fine, but I still felt the urge to smoke, although not as much. But then everything I vaped started choking me. I found a vape store in town that told me I should vape 24 mg to start with since 12 was not strong enough and to get a VG blend to help with the choking, which I bought from them. I got apple crisp since I like the dessert flavors. That was pretty bad as I think the nicotine ruined the flavor. So I went back to the 12 mg until I could figure it all out. Now EVERYTHING is choking me. Really bad, not just a dry hacking cough but almost to where I couldn't catch my breath. So I started looking things up and found someone that said to stay away from the buttery flavors, which apparently is my weakness, -because of deiticity(??) . Then I thought that maybe I gunked up my atomizer so I found out how to burn it off, but it did not help. I tried lowering my voltage and working my way up. Still struggling...So to make a long story even longer, what nicotine level should I be vaping, what VG/PG blend should I be getting to make it more smooth, should I really stay away from the buttery flavors that I like so much, and what other tips could you give me to make this trip into VapeWorld successful? I like lots of flavor so I liked that I could get extra flavoring from mt baker, and I like lots of vapor. Please help this old woman get off the nasty smoking habit for good!

As a pack a day smoker I started with 24 mg of nic in a 50/50 ratio. With the Twist I'd go as low voltage as it'll go to start and work up slowly until you get a harsh vape. Turn it down until it smooths out, that should be the sweet spot for that flavor. As far as I know you should be fine with the creamier blends, these tend to like lower heat (low voltage), though. It can also depend on what ohm coil you're using in the Pro Tank mini. If it's a 1.8 ohm (low resistance), it could make your juice harsh, especially if you're using a higher voltage on your Twist. I'd go with a minimum of a 2.2 - 2.5 ohm so you have some playing room with the voltage.

Your apple crisp flavor may be fine -- it might just need to steep awhile. That's been my experience with Mt. Baker's juices. Most of those that I bought from them needed to be steeped at least a couple of weeks before the juice turned into something that didn't taste vile. By steeping, that means to put it into a dark place away from children and pets and let it sit. Shake at least once a day. Some people prefer to steep with the cap off, which is my preference.

Good luck! :)

Welcome.some good advice above. You just has to keep in mind you are not inhaling burning leaves. But you still should be able to find a flavor you like and look forward to. And you are getting the nicotine and the hand to mouth action. Also can be a hobby if you want it to.

That helped out GREATLY! I changed to the 2.5 ohms as it had a 1.8 in it. Filled it back up with my Cinnamon Roll, (even though it is a little weak) tried various settings and it worked perfectly! I already ordered some 24 mg. Can I mix the 12 and 24 together in a larger bottle to get 18mg if they are both 65/35? Thank you so much for your suggestions! :animier:

Yes, you can mix but I'd do so in a separate bottle -- just in case the 18 mg isn't enough for you. I'd try the 24 mg first for a day or two to see if that's the right amount of nic. If it's too much, then I'd mix a little in a different bottle and try that for awhile. The reason being, if the 18 isn't strong enough for you and you mixed the entire contents of the two bottles...you can't go back.
