Rixter Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Bernzomatic UL100 - Basic Propane Torch Kit - $12.97
Rixter Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 What, no MAP gas? I buy propane and propane accessories.
loneranger721981 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I built my rsst with a 1.8 ohm micro coil and a cotton wick down in the tank. Its giving tons of flavor but barely any vapor. Its a very tight draw. I think that is the issue. I need to find a 1.5 to 2 mm drill bit.
3Rutez Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Oh yeah, defiinitely drill out the air hole. I drilled mine out to 1/8". The stock air hole felt like I was trying to suck a golf ball through a coffee straw.
loneranger721981 Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I have noticed the small bit of cotton above the coil stays a little dry even when tipping
3Rutez Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 I keep the fill hole unplugged. Really helps with the wicking.
Rixter Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I get dry hits on all of my RBAs if I don't leave the filler plugs/screws out.
thvapor Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 I tend to notice if I thin out the cotten too much I get better vape but on my trident that means more drips... I almost bought a rsst but I heard of the leak issues and j already own a trident.
Mrwaylon Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Can you use a 3/32 drill bit instead? I don't have a 5/64 bit
3Rutez Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Yes. A lot of people use 3/32 instead. I find the bigger diameter allows for better wicking is all. With the nano coils, which are usually wrapped with 20g syringe or safety pin/paper clip, you won't get proper wicking with a top coil setup. It will burn the juice faster than it can reach the coil.
Mrwaylon Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Mines a bottom coil on a mini davide. So far I had some problems but I believe I have them worked out lol. You can use cotton balls right?.
3Rutez Posted October 22, 2013 Author Posted October 22, 2013 Yup. If you have problems with flooding, try and mess around with the flavor wick (the piece you place on top of coil). Some have found that without a flavor wick, you get more flooding.

3Rutez Posted October 23, 2013 Author Posted October 23, 2013 You need to burn out that initial taste. After a few vapes, it goes away. Cotton tastes like a wet rag before it is primed, and then the flavor is awesome.

Mrwaylon Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 Ok I have another question for you. I bought cotton balls from Walmart where they sell the finger nail polish at do I need to boil them?
loneranger721981 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I bought them and boiled them. Working fine for me.
3Rutez Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 Be sure to only do small batches at a time. Makes it easier to dry, so you don't invite molds/mildew. A screen or wire strainer works well to allow airflow around the cotton for quicker and thorough drying.
loneranger721981 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 I dried mine on a cookie sheet in the oven overnight. I didnt turn it on. Just the heat from the pilot was good.
3Rutez Posted October 24, 2013 Author Posted October 24, 2013 That's a great idea. I hadn't thought of that.
loneranger721981 Posted October 24, 2013 Posted October 24, 2013 No problem. I also figured out how to make a micro coil on a 1/16 drill bit with my drill. It makes it tight enoigh that you dont need to squeeze it with tweezers and heat it. Just torch it as is. 3Rutez 1
Sbwilson213 Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Hello all, I have some questions about this build...Ive made around 4-5 now and I can't seem to find my "sweet spot" My cotton is either to thick and doesnt allow air flow, or not enough and causes flavor to pop into my mouth. I am doing EXACTLY like you say in this tut. I am using a Protank 2 with a eGo V v2. And also sometimes when I go to screw the tank back onto my battery the light for the burner won't even come on. I am new to the whole vaping world and any help would be GREATLY appreciated! Thanks so much
Bebop Posted October 25, 2013 Posted October 25, 2013 Sbwilson Are you measuring the resistance of your coil before you try it? That is a vital clue to your mystery
