More Mod Questions

Recommended Posts

I have searched and cannot find the answer here to this and get conflicting information online. Obviously my next step is to go past the Ego style batteries and get a mod. I see Mechanical Mods and other terms thrown around. What is the differences between the styles?

As I shop around what am I looking for? Do the T2s and T3S clearos I usejust screw on like a normal battery or are adapters required? The batteries for these look like more standard shaped batteries. The mod is basically a tube you insert batteries into as opposed to being solid state I guess

Another question. For a first Mod, and assume money is not an object, should I just order a Provari kit? Am I paying a lot for a name there? Are Mods pretty much maintenance free like the Ego batteries as in just keep em charged and they go or is there re-wiring and rebuilding going on?

I like my Spinners but all of a sudden want something more, at least to try, and the Provari would be an expensive mistake to make if I didnt like it and decided to go back to my Spinners.

Aww you said you'd never buy a mod....

2 different animals ....mech mod is a battery case and a button, very limited parts to break .

APV has a chip and the ability to adjust settings...provari, evic, tesla, vamo..are all APV s.

ok ill help ya B!!

your not a rebuildable kinda guy so mech mods wont really do much for you. The advantage of those is they are easily modified and can be "tweaked" to each persons taste. They also have less resistance right off the bat due to no circuit board and therefore provides a better hit at a lower voltage due to higher amp output from the coils you build.

APV's are basically the VV/VW mods. Provari and Zen are the TOP dogs in this category from all that i have read. I like the APV's... but im kinda getting away from these as im more into RBA's and RDA's. Its not to say that RBA's perform badly with these... they just seem to perform better with the mechs.

MOST of the mechs dont come with eGo threads so you would need a 510 to eGo connector. Not expensive at all but can be a pain in the a$$.

now im gona recommend you into the APV's since your really digging the spinners. I would suggest you go with a Provari or a Zen if money isnt a problem. you do pay for the name somewhat.... but you also get one of the most consistent hitting mods in the game. you may not think you have an inconsistent spinner but let me tell you... my evic.... its 100x better then any spinner or twist i have ever used... but the provari is 100x better then my eVic as far as consistent hit. I would recommend you look up some reviews on the provari and they can explain it a little better but honestly... if you want the best bang for your buck.... get a provari or a Zen. If you dont want to jump that high in price (about 200 or so for the mod no batteries included) you could always do something like a tesla or a Zmax or the VAMO. The VAMO does have some inherent issues according to some of the threads i have perused, but nothing that should be a deal breaker.

one thing i will tell you about a mod vs a spinner... there will be more upkeep. sometimes you get bad connections or the center pin moves... its a game of trial and error but its a nicer vape overall and a more rewarding experience.

sorry for the long post!

Dont be sorry for the long post, that type of thing is what I am looking for. I am a completely clueless noob when it comes to anything outside the Ego style family. I would like to start with something less $$ than Provari probably. Maybe ZMax or Tesla.

Interested to hear about these. Are they both VV VW? Will they both read out the resistance of the atty connected? That is one of the things that I like a lot since I have coils and coils that are all in a case with no way to tell the resistance since I didnt label when I first started ordering lol.

Yes they are both vv and vw. I use the vv option on my itaste and my eVic. I haven't messed with vw but some people prefer it that way. Both my eVIC and itaste and the tesla and zmax and VAMO have built in ohm readers. Personally... The eVics ohm meter is freakin phenomenally accurate and its easy to access and easy to read/understand. The draw back of the eVic is its not exactly a workhorse. It is fragile and doesn't like to be dropped. The itaste is more of a workhorse but not as nice of a display or as easy to use. The Zmax is a mix but also very fragile. I would recommend if your going to get into the APV's you will want to leave it at home and carry the spinners to work and whatnot. The only thing is... Once your APV comes in and you use it.... It's gonna be hard to put it down. Lol!

Yea thats my concern, not wanting to leave it at home when we are on the boat. I am not worried about work, since my PV sits in a coozie on my desk all day and if I go outside it is just in my hand. I have never dropped one at work. I sit at my desk most of the day and just vape away. I have several spinners, 4 since my wife prefers the smaller Ego designer 650mah batteries I got her that are all pink and purple and girly. They set at 4.2v all the time so she likes that as a higher voltage vaper than I.

I will most likely go with the Evic when I pull the trigger.

I have both a Tesla and a eVic, can't say who's the favorite.

Tessie is big strong, all metal, well vented. But not as friendly when it comes to readouts, buttons are in the wrong spot, so hard to see while adjusting, and only one viewing option at a time.and some kanger evodds and MTT typesdo not fit the Tesla with its recessed head. She's a big shiny showoff tho, light saber ish!!

Evie is sleek, smooth and light, almost seems fragile, but you now what's going on with one button.ohms volts watts and batt life all in one glance, easy to adjust ring, puff counts if your into that. And we haven't even plugged her in to the computer yet. Yes she has her own computer program and you can have several customized profiles preset to certain appliances.

Price for either is within 20 smacks, just buy a good charger, don't buy a trustfire...

Does this have everything I need to use and charge this? Will the T2 and T3S work without an adapter?

http://vaportalk.com/marketplace/joye-evic.html

I really want to order something from the Marketplace. All the other Evic kits are over 100 bucks but all come with CE4s or other things I do not need. All I need is the unit, the battery, and a way to charge it.

Is this the same kit or what? The description seems abbreviated in the Marketplace and doesn't list the contents as plainly. This one shows to have a charger and everything. Would all I need with this one be the extra battery?

http://www.theveteranvaper.com/joye-evic/

I just want to get everything I need at once lol.

It's has a USB charger that connects direct to the control head. Some have found this isn't the fastest or best way to recharge the evic, control head get really warm, and much slower than a conventional charger. Get a good charger and an extra battery

nah, knowing him... he will eventually have over 10 batteries so that gives him the ability to keep 6 charged and 4 charging at all times. :) is all in long term perspective. if i had known that was an option... i never would have bought the 2 bay one. and who knows.. he may expand past the evic and have a need for more then 10 batteries. :)

The 2 bay meets my needs easy , and theis is the guy who stated he would never buy one in the first place(mod)!!!! But we all knew he would!

I said "Most likely" lol. I always leave myself an out and rarely speak in absolutes. I have been in the car business almost 20 years and have learned that important lesson haha.

I've been mod shopping also. I currently have spinners. We are pretty much in the same boat. (maritime reference just for you) :-) Why hasn't anyone suggested the Innokin SVD? It's supposed to be a solid device at a great price.
