MistaVapa
Hey all! So this is a problem I've had with a couple of different types of bottom coil clearomizers. After a few uses, the base portion where the atomizer coil is located will get stuck (making it really difficult to clean out between uses). I think it is because some of the juices will leak through, making it sticky. When that happens, usually the only way I'm able to unscrew it is with a good amount of effort and a pair of pliers, which often leads to some scratching.. Has anybody else run into this problem? Is there an easy / damage free way to get the base unstuck when it happens? Edited July 7, 2013 by MistaVapa punkrocstar and viewvape
IMEDICx90
Yeah give a soak in warm water and it should free it up enough to unscrew it by hand. You might wanna look at the o rings when you take it apart and see f they are damaged.
Tam
Try running some hot water over the base (after removing clearomizer from battery first ) then, if it's still not cooperating I'd use a couple of small pieces of rubber shelf liner to give you a better grip. In a pinch, wind a couple of rubber bands around the base of the clearomizer and the main tank. That should help? punkrocstar and viewvape
MistaVapa
Thanks! I just soaked it into some really hot water for a few mins and it came right off. What I'm using right now is the CE5, which I just read is notorious for leaking if you don't fill it exactly the right way. Clearomizers have a ton of advantages, but I've had my fair share of these types of issues with them.
IMEDICx90
I would recommend the kanger t2. It's also called the eGo ce4 2.4 cc long wick clearomizer.
MistaVapa
I have a Kanger Evod, which is similar to the T2. Generally been happy with it.
Tam
The EVOD is a bottom feeder (if I remember correctly), while the T2 has the coil on top with a long wick.
IMEDICx90
Yes it is tam. I currently prefer the t2 but I haven't heard of a bottom feeder that doesn't leak. So it's all preference!
Tam
So far the only bottom feeder I've tried that doesn't leak has been the Vision Nano. Just cleaned out several T3, MT3, and EVOD tanks yesterday because they all leaked. Thankfully, I had them in a plastic box so the liquid didn't go anywhere else. Direct dripping takes care of the leakage problem nicely, though.
MistaVapa
I think my next Clearo is going to be a top-coil. Seem to be far less of these problems.
Tam
T2s are wonderful things. Just remember to keep tipping so the wicks stay wet. Brian at The Veteran Vaper store sells these. He has nothing but the very best customer service you'll see anywhere.
Frank765
I have had the same problem. I just broke a battery cause the bottom base of my protank was stuck so bad it pulled the battery apart. And the base is still stuck in it, any recommendations? <a="http://tinypic.com?ref=szboeo" target="_blank"> <a="http://tinypic.com?ref=whbmog" target="_blank">

bcartervol98
I think my next Clearo is going to be a top-coil. Seem to be far less of these problems. Its a double edged sword. I use mainly Kanger T3S now, a bottomfeeder. I also us the T2, a top coil. I wrote an in depth comparison between the two a couple weeks ago in Member Tutorials as they each have their advantages. The MAIN difference for me is with a bottom coil my flavors taste exactly the same from the top of the tank to the bottom of the tank, where the top wicks like the T2s taste much differently to me the second half of the tank. In a nutshell the BCCs are a bit more maintenance but better (cooler) vapor and flavor and the top coils are super easy to maintain and fill but in my experience some flavors that wick differently start to have a slight burned taste at about a half a tank. I topped off my T2s every night, and only fill my T3S every 2-3 days as they empty so the little bit of extra maintenance is worth it to me for the flavor and quality of the vape they provide. Its all what one likes best. I have not had a T2 on my battery since buying the T3S's a couple weeks ago, but will keep them on standby. I truly do like them both. I just give the edge overall to the T3S for the reason of flavor and how it maintains the same flavor from top to bottom.
Frank765
Thanks Christie I tried your method and it worked. She said "I put a drop of clipper oil on the threads after I finally got mine off I used a pair of pliers too .now I dont tighten it so much". I keep my tanks clean, what happened was I put it, too tight. The problem is fixed now though.
