MisterE
How is this for an odd-ball introduction? I have been smoke free for about 10 years or so, after quitting a pack a day cold turkey. I am looking to start vaping. Life is quite stressful, I work 2 jobs, (it's 2:45 about to go to bed to get up in 6 hours for work for an example.) I have debt up to my ears. I have children to raise. Sound familiar? Well the one thing I don't have is a way to take the edge off and relax. I dont feel like drinking. I miss the relaxation nicotine used to give me. Am I crazy for wanting to start vaping? I don't want/miss throat hit, and I don't intend to vape often. In fact it would only be nights at my second job which is more stressful. (Probably also why I snack more at work at night. Not a good thing to eat a 4th meal then go to bed. Great way to gain weight but I am not in training to be a Sumo wrestler.) Does it sound strange to want to start vaping as a way to relax after not smoking for all these years? Anyways I will check in for replies tomorrow. mcquinn
Better than picking smoking back up.
bcartervol98
I see nothing wrong with it but after 12 years nicotine free I would consider a no nicotine liquid and see if that does what you want.
MisterE
That's actually a good point. Maybe a setup with 0mg juice will trick my brain. The whole ritual of "smoking" might be enough to relax. We are creatures of habit after all.
Jimbo
I had quit smoking for almost four years before stress and anxiety led me to ecigarettes. Even at 24mg of nicotine, I don't feel the kick I remember from even ultralight analogs, but the experience is at least pleasurable, and enough to keep me from the real thing. The thing about smokers: Smoking is a psychosomatic response from a certain pacifier brain chemistry. Like myself you can quit smoking for years and fall back then quit again , however the Hand to mouth chemistry NEVER DIES!! Most of us where thumb suckers when we where toddlers So in essence all we do when we quit smoking is sucum to a state of deprivation and except this state of mind for awhile then that "Life is too short" demon whispers in our ear and wala, Smoking again. . You now have two alternatives, you are already an established pacifier personality so forget about going through a day without even thinking of smoking, It ain't going to happen. ----------Deprivation syndrome prevails------------- Your alternative here is electric cigarette, real cigarette, drink, or ? OK sorry I've gone to far. Look Spark up the e cigarette wile you have the chance, learn the ropes now, all The DoItYourself and juice production techniques, because health wise it is the best choice for a pacifier at the moment. The FEDS could clobber the economics of this PV [personal vapor] and tax the %$#$ out of it. Before that happens learn to make your own, build your own , however not until you have tried a Mid Range Evo twist or spinner type decent quality unit and decide this e thing is the way to go. Then go nuts and stock up on Nic juice and maybe a doomsday type setup such as a Rebuildable Cartomizer and a recipe for boiling out nicotine from raw tobacco leafs. NOTE: I am in Tennessee, Tennessee allows me to grow two rows of tobacco leaf for personal use without registering as a commercial farm or grower. Some of you may not be so lucky, just check out the laws locally and let your own conscious be your guide. Also the forum rules won't let me post my thoughts on DIY hardware here and the possibility of the FEDS labeling the hardware as drug paraphernalia if they do? go to the DIY forums for that. I am ordering an analog Battery, [no electronic chips to burn out] with a repairable switch, These won't be the e-cigs I smoke on every day for they are a doomsdayer preparation for the government once again will choose making money over public health I am sure, remember the EQUAL sugar substitute battle. The FDA is about money not health but till then I have a Lava tube Variable Volt and an ego twist for the portability. The big things like the lava tube and silver bullet are good chair side smokers, but they reek of drug paraphernalia in public, COPS hate them. The ego twist or china knock off called the spinner are more discreet in public and give as good as a performer. DO NOT BUY A SHOPPING MALL 20 DOLLAR E-CIG and judge this whole thing from that experience, your sure to hate e-cigs if you try those pieces of $har% in the ma and pa stores. cowboy6591
WOOOOPS must I forget, you may consider buying non nicotine juice just to see if that hand to mouth need is the only deprivation issue. Edited May 20, 2013 by cowboy6591
