vivi nova heads inconsistant?

Recommended Posts

Some questions for Brian and others who have tested the heads for the vivi's.

Have yall found the ohm ratings to be very optimistic?

I have coil heads from a few different places and they all seem to be

very inconsistant. Some have been up to 1 ohm higher than the printed

rating.

I suspected my meter the first few times but vaping confirmed that

it was closer than the stated ohms on the head.

The 1.8 that read 2.8 was definitely weak in the vape lol.

So is it my meter and my imagination or just my bad luck?

Have their been some bad batches maybe?

Any input on these is appreciated.

I doubt that there is much Q.C. on the components .The nichrome wire is likely the culprit.I would imagine they just measure off a predetermined length for each coil irregardless of the resistance per foot of the batch. They still work better than anything else I have found.

I've found the same thing recently too Joe. The coils I've tested did drop down 0.3 to 0.4 after a couple of hours use, but were still higher than the stated resistance even after that drop. I've had some 1.8ohm coils measure 2.4 and drop to 2.1 after some use. 2.4 ohms measuring around 3 and dropping to 2.7 after some use. I've got some 2.8ohm coils that were right on the nose. It's disappointing especially since the coils that come with the nova kit were all right on spec (1.8, 2.4 and 2.8).

Thanks for the responses.

It's not really a deal breaker for me since I have

multiple VV devices it's just irritating because sometimes

I want to use a small setup like a 650 ego and have to

meter everything to get one that will have enough watts

to satisfy me lol.

Not really ready to try rolling my own yet either,

I'd have to get a lighted magnifying desk unit first lol.
