bananabic Posted December 4, 2012 Posted December 4, 2012 (edited) I'm having this weird issue where the cartomizer tastes like metal when I vape with my tank. Without the tank tube the cartomizer works perfectly without any metal taste. If I prime my tank it tastes fine, but after putting it down and vaping an hour later, I get the metal taste. I don't want to have to prime it every time I pick it up. Also, my other cartomizers don't have this problem. Edited December 4, 2012 by bananabic
Brian Posted December 5, 2012 Posted December 5, 2012 What type of tank and cartomizers are you using? Is it just the one carto that acts this way in the tank, but other cartos work fine in it?
bananabic Posted December 6, 2012 Author Posted December 6, 2012 Smoktech 5mL tank and Smoktech 2.0 tank cartomizer. It's just this cartomizer and the others are fine.
joe2003 Posted December 6, 2012 Posted December 6, 2012 hmm maybe the coil is shorting against the side of the carto? I've heard that will give a metallic taste. lol prolly not tho I'm just guessin. The good thing is how easy they are to replace
RomenHooper Posted December 15, 2012 Posted December 15, 2012 IMHO the idea of priming is to fill the wadding material, but more importantly to fully wet the wicking material so that it cannot be burnt by the heater coil; and it really does burn with a foul taste. Worse than that, once the wicking material has been burnt the cartomizer will never function effectively again. You can got some new e juice (double mint) and you will get some taste from the previous flavour but if not a strong yucky flavour like chocolate etc it will work its way through mate, good luck.
