jerryjoe Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 So I got my needle nose pliers, dykes, mini screwdriver set, tweezers and a magnifying glass. They had a torch but it was $26. I think I can do better than that. I'm checking home depot tomorrow.Does anyone else think $26 is high for a little butane torch?
Aquatroy Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Not for a good micro torch, but some are junk. 12 dollar home depot model works fine...
jerryjoe Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Thanks troy. Home depot it is. Tomorrow. Unfortunately they don't stay open till 11 o'clock at night
Tam Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Does anyone else think $26 is high for a little butane torch? If I remember correctly mine was around $28 or so.
jerryjoe Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I watched a video where they used a bic lighter to burn their kanthal. I could do that if I wanted to couldn't I?
VaporTron Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 (edited) I watched a video where they used a bic lighter to burn their kanthal. I could do that if I wanted to couldn't I?I used to use a blowtorch on the coils but now I use a mini butane lighter (mini torch) After I saw a video with a guy using this, I got one, the clear one. Lol Edited June 6, 2014 by VaporTron
Proetus Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 Bunch of wire, heatshrink and bullet connectors from Hobbyking.
crush02342002 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 see those from time to time at gas stations in shady areas of town. I got one similar but it has a broader flame from a local b&m. I used to collect "jet lighters". you can find these things online for cheap as dirt.
crush02342002 Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 look up jet lighter on ebay...you get these things for 5 bux...if you want a higher end lighter check out www.elighters.com
Compenstine Posted June 6, 2014 Posted June 6, 2014 I have 3 torches I can use. One is a combo Bernzomtic soldering micro torch, Have one of the Bernzomatic mini torches (use this mostly now) and a lighter size torch. The lighter torch works best for the 30 and 32 gauge wire as the bigger torches have a tendency to melt the wire.
