So, I just read this article, seems pretty interesting. Definitely wonder what news this will bring in the future

http://www.popsci.com/science/article/2012-06/nicotine-vaccine-could-kick-habit-it-even-forms

For those of us who don't want to read it, it's basically a nicotine antibody that would be produced by the liver. It would get rid of the nicotine before it reaches the heart/brain. Result would be no more nicotine addiction.

I don't see how such a thing could help people quit smoking. The most addictive part, I think, is the motion of hand to mouth and another very addictive part of smoking is the nasty chemicals in tobacco. E-cigs don't have the really bad chemicals that anologs do and the body knows it's missing something. It's not so hard to change over to vaping because you still get the motion and the nicotine but you have to get over not getting the "junk" that the body actually craves.

I totally agree, smoking is so much more than just nicotine addiction.

Given the opportunity to remove that variable though, I feel like the "game" would be changed

All true, but for someone looking to quit completely it would definitely make it a lot easier. Eliminating the physical addiction is a helluva start. Personally tho i'll keep my PV :)

I am not really familiar with this but looks really interesting. Though for some people, it really is not about just getting your nicotine fix. To some, it is also about the feeling of being able to smoke and puff some smoke in your mouth and the whole circulation.

But for those who are looking for that distinct feel, I guess this would suffice already.

While I would probably opt to get this shot after it was proven safe, I have to agree with Eonloo, for most of us there is something relaxing about taking a puff and slowing letting the vaper roll off your lips. The act of slowing inhaling itself is relaxing. It's almost a ritual when you think about it after a long day.

I also liked the community aspect of standing in the rain and snow with folks I would not normally associate with and just conversing. When I was on the cleaning crew at the hospital I used to smoke with V.P's ,I.T. geeks and other folks I never see at all since we went tobacco free.

I totally agree with you guys, for me at least, I vape to vape (more as a 'ritual' - you know...) not for the 'nic fix'

so I don't know if i would do the shot thing. it was an interesting concept though....

When I used to work Corporate I was able to move up faster simply due to conversations started with smoking.
