danpio1217 Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Hello all, In doing research on vaping i've noticed many people and websites reference punching holes in cartomizers. I'm less concerned with the how and more concerned with the why? Why does this need to be done and for what types of cartomizers? Why don't they come with this already done? At first i thought they were referring to punching a hole in the bottom of a soft cap tank to get the best seal, but the more i read about it it doesn't seem to be the case. Thanks in advance!
mcquinn Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 If you use one of the tanks ,you can buy prepunched carto's or punch your own. That is how the liquid gets from the tankinto the caro.
Jeffb Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Some people confuse the eGo tanks with carto tanks. eGo Tank System: Carto Tank With Punched cartos: :
Landion Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Hmmm.... those holes are way bigger than what I punched... which could help explain why I didn't get good juice flow. On the other side - I guess I don't understand how I flooded carts with holes so much smaller than that....
danpio1217 Posted April 14, 2012 Author Posted April 14, 2012 Jeffb, you're exactly right, i was confusing the 2 kinds of tanks. Thanks for clearing that up!
bamsbbq Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Hmmm.... those holes are way bigger than what I punched... which could help explain why I didn't get good juice flow. On the other side - I guess I don't understand how I flooded carts with holes so much smaller than that....a lot has to.do with your PG level. More pg, smaller hole. I use high VG so most times I use a couple of.holes in the carto. Bams needs a BAM!!
Jeffb Posted April 14, 2012 Posted April 14, 2012 Jeffb, you're exactly right, I love those words. You're welcome
Deadpool809 Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 I also find that you can flood a carto if you penetrate the filler too much. 100% PG will lead to a flooded carto, but if you have a small, very deep hole, you will find that also floods.
Landion Posted April 16, 2012 Posted April 16, 2012 Now I've heard that VG doesn't give a good TH so I've been going with 80% PG. So on average what's a good mix of PG/VG to be thick enough yet still give a TH?
dvlbny666 Posted March 14, 2013 Posted March 14, 2013 What is the benefit of using a punched carto+tank over using a clearomizer or other tank systems?
danpio1217 Posted April 4, 2013 Author Posted April 4, 2013 Don't think there's a clear-cut benefit, some people just like the flavor/draw of one over the other. Personally i like clearos better for bakery and some sweeter tobacco flavors, and carto tanks better for fruity & non-sweet tobacco flavors. Landion i usually go with 50/50 or 75PG/25VG either will give a good TH and vapor.
mse12 Posted April 6, 2013 Posted April 6, 2013 To me the carto tank is a clear leader over the clearos. Better flavor and less dry hits.
