bear Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I have a battery charger for 18650 batteries that came with a kit. I have (2)1600 aMh batteries and (1) 2200 mAh. The charger has a single green light that is always green, even when starting the charge on battery. Can these batteries be over-charged? Should I be looking for a better charger? Need some help. Thanks!
Breal Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 If the light is green, the batteries should be charged. The only thing I can think is that you either put them in the wrong way or they were already pre-charged. Maybe someone can think of something else if that's not it.
Jeffb Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 Is this a new charger to you? Got a pic. Batteries can be overcharged if you have a faulty charger. This can be dangerous. Pila is considered one of the best chargers out there. They are pricey though: http://www.lighthound.com/Pila-IBC-Charger-for-14500-17500-18500-18650-37-volt-Lithium-Battery-Charger_p_3680.html?gdftrk=gdfV22217_a_7c1238_a_7c7505_a_7c3680 I have this less expensive one that has been working great: http://www.cloudsofvapor.com/store/31-batteries-and-more/8-battery-chargers/25-trustfire-multicharger-tr-001.html
Mike Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 (edited) @Jeff, Would you concider this charger to be safe to use for AW 18350 and AW 18490/18500 high drain batteries? I use it to charge a 14500. It reads TrustFire multifunctional charger. output: 4.2v 500Ma Edited March 25, 2012 by Mike
Jeffb Posted March 25, 2012 Posted March 25, 2012 I have that one Mike. Its been working for 2 years with no problems. All I use now are IMR high drain batts and its worked like a champ.
kwaione Posted March 26, 2012 Posted March 26, 2012 @Mike yes as Jeffb said that is a very good charger.. as far as the cheaper ones are concerned that trustfire is trusty:)
bear Posted March 26, 2012 Author Posted March 26, 2012 Thanks for the info, I think it's worth investing in a better charger. Rather be safe than sorry.
