emilyriley
I need some help with e-juice. I am still smoking cigs because I get frustrated trying to figure it out. (cop-out excuse ) Anyway, I purchased 3 diff bottles of e-juice, all 24 mg...all different flavors of menthol. I am a 1/2 to 1 pack a day smoker (Pall Mall Filter, Menthol 100's). For some reason, when I use the e-juice in my (joye eGo cartomizer), the throat hit is really harsh, not much "smoke" and it makes my throat itchy and cough most of the night. Like, the throat hit is harsher than a cigarette...which sounds...hmm, weird. So, I am wondering if the 24mg I am using is causing the harsh throat hit. Should I go less on the nicotine? Does the nicotine even matter to the throat hit? I am new....and new again (this is my second try at the e-cig thing)....and still cant get it right. I would LOVE to be able to never buy another pack of smokes again. I have a horrible smokers cough every day ..... however, considering I am 36 and started at 14, thats more than 20 years under my belt. Which is.... horrible. Any help to get away from the demon-sticks is appreciated. Thanks all! -Emily
wendallb
Sounds like you need to reduce the nic level..High nic levels will enhance the TH for sure and also menthol or mint will make for a stronger TH. So you may want to lower your nic and maybe find a lighter menthol.. WendallB
YouMayLose
As a long time menthol smoker myself and being new to this I have come to find out I don't like menthol e-juice at all... try another flavor other than menthol you may be surprised how well you will do. Viper Ron
Are you getting a burnt taste? Just making sure it isn't the cartomizer that is the problem! Just a thought

sovereign51580
I agree with Wendall B. Reducing the nic level will reduce the hit. Are the juices you purchased 100% PG? If so that adds to the throat hit. In my experience, PG produces significantly less vapor that VG. You might might to consider mixing some VG in there. From what I've read, 20%VG/80% PG is common. I personally prefer a 50/50 mix for extra vapor.
DAYVAPE
I wouldn't recommend a 50/50 ratio for use in cartos... it's never worked out good for me anyway, too thick.

That will make the solution about 23% VG, it will also reduce the nic content to about 18mg. The TH should be much less, and the menthol taste will be less because you are reducing the % of flavor in the solution. It should work out much better for you. I was a 1.5 PAD smoker, and I started off at 18 MG. I since reduced down to 8 MG.
CantusPro
More VG = more Vapor (the “V” in vegetable equals the “V” in vapor”). More PG = more flavor (the “P” in propylene equals the “P” in phlavor…or something like that). -Cantus
frosting
My personal noob mistake with my e-go would be i didn't drip juice onto the atomizer(afraid that would break it). Just putting that out there just in case you did the same thing I did. So fair I've found in my short time vaping, fruity flavors for me anyways at 18 nic strength tend to be less of a throat hit and more gentle. At least Peach Melba from Mr.E-liquid is very good, great vapor, and gentle throat hit.
YouMayLose
I thought PG was throat hit not flavor? I assumed flavor was..well just that what ever flavor they added or mixed in lol
DAYVAPE
PG carries flavors better... AND adds throat hit ! Edited September 16, 2011 by DAYVAPE
asleep
Yeah, I'm with Viper Ron here... I have a feeling your running your carto too dry. Those need to stay nice and wet! I agree, are you bottom filling new cartos, the "condom method"?
DAYVAPE
Nope, I use a syringe the first filling... then just top-off as needed. With the syringe I can put the juice where I want it... don't have to let it sit and soak like after filling with the condom method. After all, with the condom method, the juice is simply being forced up through the hole in the center and then has to soak into the filler. Works for me anyway! Nice to see you around the forum good buddy!
