So I've been nervous and a bit curious as to what my DR would think about my vaping. He is a solid believer in Chantix and the cold turkey method. :wallbash: Will DR's never learn.... Anyhow as he walked into the room I boldly blurted out that "I quit smoking months ago" and as the shock and awe crossed his face. He asked how, since I have struggled for years..The e-cig I proclaimed, he looked at me and was suprised. I asked him his thoughts and apparently he is educated. He told me he likes the idea and that they seem to work but he would like to see more studies done to make them safe as possible. He believes them to be SAFER than smoking but not totally healthy. He said he just doesn't know about the long term aspects which is very much in line with my own opinion, but deffinately better than smoking.

Yeah pat on the back for me! I do want to add a little of my own recent experience with nic addiction and the thought that it is about the same as caffeen addiction. I've been really sick since Monday and didn't vape at all for several days, until today. I could never have done that when I smoked. I have been in the hospital before with lung issues and carried my IV bag out side to smoke. Nothing before could come between me and my smokes. Now, it isnt an issue. I had NO cravings being without nic, I'm shocked as hell about it too. I normally vape constantly throughout the day and have never gone without before. I never had the craving or need. For me I think vaping is a motion addiction, it's all about the comfort not the drug now. More like a security blanket.

Beans, good for you. Last time i saw my doc, cardiologist he told me he had gotten his brother an ecig and was delighted that he quit with it. I thought I was going to have to explain them to him, but he was all for it.

Hi Beans, First I hope you feel better. I think you might be on to something with that security blanket theory. When I was smoking analogs if I left the house and got in the car without my cigarettes I would stop and go back or stop and buy some. Now I think, oh well, I will be home in a couple of hours so no problem. I think the proof would be getting down to zero nick level, maybe one of these days I will get up the nerve to try it. Glad your doc wasn't a jerk.

I know for me it really is the pacifier effect. I can vape 0 mg nic and not feel any different. the biggest problem for me with 0 nic is still the throat hit.

I am really glad your Dr. is being supportive. vaping is a 1000 times better than smoking in my book.

First of all Beans... I hope you are feeling better and a big thumbs up for voicing your switch to vaping!! I always wondered why some people are so serious about hiding the fact that they vape instead of smoke... heck, I'm proud to break it out wherever I'm at. We should all be proud of what we've accomplished to stop smoking the nasty analogs that had the grip on us for so long! Don't get me wrong here, I use common sense as to where I vape, but I don't worry about it in most settings. Most places I have found welcome it with open arms!

And Johns... I too have this same thing happen to me now. Isn't it a great feeling to not even worry that you just left the house and forgot your ecig?? Like you... if I were still smoking I would have turned around and went back to the house or hit the nearest store to buy some! I originally started with 24-36mg juice... and I'm down to anywhere between 10-12mg now with no ill effects whatsoever when I dropped my nic level each time. I think I did it in maybe 3 steps... and waited a couple of months before each drop. Since I've dropped to 12mg juices, they seem to taste much better now, with less of a harsh nicotine hit in my throat. I didn't really crave that hardcore nic hit that some people do... but now the flavors seem to really shine through now that I don't have that big nic hit I got with the higher mg juices! Yay for choices when it comes to vaping!! thumbsup.gif
