WintersTime
Hi all, I'm a noobie ... ha, ya think? I am sooooo out of my league here, and sure could use a little guidance. In an attempt to quit analogs (ha, love that!) I purchased my first "pack" of e-cigs at my local smokeshop. They were okay, but really didn't do much for me. So, I decided to quit on my own - cold turkey. I made it 9 days and 21 hours before I thought I'd go mad - or strangle someone! *kidding* But, in my desparation, I dug out that pack of "PureSmoke" e-cigs I had tucked away. They saved me. I thought to myself, I can do this... the e-cigs are a compromise I can (literally!) live with. While doing my "research" I learned a little about 'throat hit', etc. - so I just ordered a new brand of e-cigs called GreenSmoke. They are supposed to arrive today. (I'm actually pretty excited) But.... *groan* ... after reading a lot on your Noob area, now I learn I shouldn't have purchased the (analog looking) type of e-cigs, right? Ya'll seem to prefer the ones you can fill yourself? May I ask the main reason.. it is because it's a little less expensive, longer battery, etc? Also, since I'm not to sure about posting urls... I did find a type made by dragonfly e-cigs. Would that be a good second step in my learning journey? For one last newbie/stupid question.... If smoking (analogs) was rated a 100 on a terrible for you scale, where would you put vaping? I guess I'm still trying to justify that this is soooo much better for me. Thank you so much for being here!
johns
First, Welcome to VT, glad to have you. I am still kind of new at this, but I can tell you that the people here are great. I started with the greensmoke also and learned from this forum that they are overpriced pieces of that have no battery life. You will be much money ahead if you can return the greensmoke and read the forums and decide what is right for you. I, and a lot of others here, chose the eGo. Congrats on quitting the analogs and don't give up. I bet some of the experts will be along shortly and give you some better advice. lazymitch
Hi Winters, and welcome! I've only been here awhile myself - but being the geek that I am I jumped right in and bought a joye 510 after doing a bit of research. Don't sweat it, you'll find what works for you! The main reason I think we choose the models that we do is so we have options. First & foremost, you can get juice in about any flavor you can imagine - Vs. the out of the box flavors (regular and menthol) and about any strength you can imagine. You can also choose from Propylene Glycol (PG) and Vegetable Glycerine (VG) or basically any combination thereof - depending on your preference! Also, you can use an atomizer & cartridge, you can drip right on your atomizer, you can get a cartomizer, a tank - HUGE batteries, etc. etc. Once you find the juice that you like, the PV (personal vaporizer) that you like, etc, Vaping is like a 1 - it's fun, it's pleasant, and as far as I can tell.... it's essentially a benign habbit. (OK, that's pushing it a bit.... but in comparison, it's WAY better than smoking!) ~Lazy
Beans
WintersTime welcome! I'm so glad you have joined, and YES you really can quit! I feel terrible that you already spent the money on green smoke. IMHO as big as a disappointment as it is to do, return your kit for a refund. I started with GS and droped about $450 total What a waste of money. The carts were NOT equal to a pack of cigs. I could suck 1 down in about 15 minutes. The cost would have been over $600 a month for me. It's just a dubious sales ploy of theirs. There are many great and affordable kits out there that I think you would be pleased with. Depending on how much you smoked I would say a Joye 510 or eGo make wonderful starter kits. They have cartomizers like the GS, but better. Good luck and were all here to help you!
Kingbtheone
congrats for the decision to quit, but yeah, your gonna need to step up the budget to save overall... ITS A LEARNING CURVE till you find out what works for YOU. good luck, ASK any questions here, EVERYONE WILL HELP!
TroopX
First- congrats on trying the e-cig route again. I understand what you are going through. The reason so many suggest a different model and direct dripping or cartomizers is that the quality of the vape is all around better. Prefilled carts and cartos tend to be more expensive while less enjoyable. The battery life on a 1000mah ego battery is several times better than the stick battery in a greensmoke. If you direct drip some good e-juice on an ego using a LR atty, you'll find it is a night and day difference than what you experienced with the greensmoke pre-filled cartos. Just an FYI- I ordered a different unit before my greensmokes got here because research told me I wouldn't like the greensmoke- and research proved correct. Greensmoke went back within the first week. I gave away $60 in crappy pre-filled greensmoke cartridges that would've made me go back to analogs if I were to rely on them. There is a world of alternatives out there with vaping. With the greensmoke refund, you could get an ego- or try a bottom feeder right off the bat and never worry about dripping. Or both~ Let us know your questions as they arise and you'll get going onto a better way of vaping in no time.
TroopX
PS- Studies say that vaping is between 100 and 1000 times safer than smoking. IMO you feel better immediately after waking up to find the crud gone. The feeling you get upon realizing that you finally found a way to quit smoking sticks with you for quite a while. I'm still in awe.
fran1959
Welcome, there is so much to learn in the beginning, but a lot of good advice from very nice people here. If you are not happy with your greensmoke, send it back and get something better, Ego or 510. You will have so many more options and it will be cheaper in the long run too. As with anything new, there is a learning curve, but you will soon find what works for you. Nice to have you here.
