LoriHNC Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 If someone could explain to me how I can travel (flying) with ecig things safely without things getting confiscated, I would appreciate it. My husband unexpectedly died last night and I have to fly to New York from NC back home for his services. I need information fairly fast. I don't remember what I read about flying with this stuff. I know that you all have answers for that. I wish I had answers right now.
easilyamused Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 if i were you i would simply stealth vape, draw no attention to yourself, getting through the check point wont be an issue, trying to vape on the plane might be, people are very edgy in planes these days and will report any suspicious behaviors, use the rest room, blow the vape into your clothes or downward so it cannot be detected and my most sincere condolences for your loss
nana Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Lori, I am so sorry. My thoughts and prayers are with you. I don't fly, but here are some links to other posts about this...(some of these are older posts) http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/6203-vaps-on-a-plane/ http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/7408-disney-and-universal-vaping-questions-with-flight/ http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/10282-airport-security/ http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/2921-travel-advice-please/
Beans Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 I'm so so sorry for your loss. I just flew from Wa to Ca this week. I kept extra batts and juice in checked baggage, but had 30 ml juice and 4 batts in carry on. I put them in a baggy and no one bothered me. I stealth vaped on the plane also. Just don't do it in the bathroom on the plane, detectors can go off from what vie heard. Good luck and Bless you.
cheshyl Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Lori, so sorry to hear about your loss, bless your heart. That is such terrible news. Our hearts go out to you and praying that you have a safe trip and peace will surround you. I think that some people in here have flown with their e-cigs and have had no trouble.
DAYVAPE Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 (edited) My prayers are with you as well... I know the feeling to lose a loved one. Remain strong through this and tell your family that you love them... Edited March 17, 2011 by DAYVAPE
Sharon Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Lori, I am so sorry for your loss. My prayers are with you and family members. Pack your extra supplies in separate baggies in your check in baggage. Just take what you need to vape from point A to point B, keep in mind delays happen so plan for it. Liquid seems to freak security more than anything else, so pack your extra juice in your check in bag. Again, I am so sorry for your loss. God bless you and keep you safe.
LoriHNC Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Thank you all for your help and kind words. I am planning on flying to NY on Monday. I'm having a service here in NC first then brining him to his family in NY. My ecigs aren't conventional, I use mods and I'm thinking they will look like detonators. I have a maxi roughstack and a box mod. I think I will do as suggested and check most of everything and maybe keep an ego or tornado in my purse. That way if it's confiscated, I won't be as mad. I'll just have a 5 ml bottle of liquid on me to use for the day. Good idea for the separate baggies too. Thank you again
mastiffmom Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I'm so sorry for your loss Lori. My thoughts and prayers are with you.
kitsune Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I am so sorry Lori--I can't imagine what you are having to go through. Tons of prayers and hugs for you and your family !! you will be fine traveling. liquid in your quart baggie, I usually but my electronic parts in with my chargers and misc electronic stuff I always take with me when traveling. I have travel once with a box mod and it really wasn't any trouble. I just had it unassembled in my bag-no questions. stealth vaping on the plane is pretty easy, can use the restroom also--just don't blow the vapor into the detector. I have flown many time times with all my stuff in my carry on and been ok--when I have stuff for an extended trip, I just break things up and place them in various parts of my luggage.
