After Buying Several Different Kinds Of Juice, Now I Ask Questions!

Okay, so now that I have ordered juice from different vendors and found that some of them are thin, like water and some are like syrup. I've found that the very thick ones make filling the carto time consuming, but seem to produce more vapor. I was also wondering if there is a difference health wise? Some juice makes my mouth dry and some have given me a slight headache.

Sure hope someone can educate me in this department.

Thanks question.gif

The thin eliquids are most likely PG based and the thick ones are VG based. PG tends to give a strong throat hit. VG has a smoother throat hit and produces more vapor. I hear that VG does not work that well in cartos... it's so thick that it doesn't wick well and get to the coil.

Oh - not aware of any health differences.

I have noticed that if I go 100% PG for a while, and then start vaping something with VG I'll get a sore throat (just for a little while). However, as long as I keep vaping it, I don't have any problems. It's only an issue if I stop using it for a while. I actually like having juice that's about 20-30% VG.

Some vendors use a 50/50 mix, and some allow you to choose what % of PG/VG you want.

GoodProphets.com has pretty much perfected a thin VG line of elquids that do quite well in cartos. If you mention you're a 1st time buyer and that you're interested in trying either 555 or RY4 (pick one), you'll get a free bottle. :)

Sharon, my first stuff was all PG and the throat hit was too much for me. I got a sore, scratchy throat. The next stuff I ordered from Tasty Vapor was 70/30 PG/VG and it doesn't bother me at all, but gives me enough throat hit for my personal preference.

Haven't tried filling cartos yet - just ordered my first 5 pack from Chris, but am hoping it will be a little more convenient for when I'm on the go. I look like the vaper equivalent of the RYO lady now when I'm out. LOL. :rolleyes2:

Here is a link to VT - Chris' video on filling a carto. http://www.vaportalk.com/forum/forum/forum/topic/7993-how-to-fill-a-510-cartomizer/

If I can do it, anyone can. LOL

I've never really had throat issues, but I've had the headaches from certain pre-filled carts. I get something like an "air bubble" in my chest some times. . . Maybe I'm just weird. Anyone else have that?

I think they are both fine from a health standpoint. Both are widely used safely, in our day to day lives in many, many products and both have been deemed "safe" by the FDA, for whatever that is worth. I believe they are both benign products that don't harm us. The VG liquids do seem to be thicker. HOWEVER the liquid I have ordered from vapor renu, is an 80/20 pg/vg mix and is not thicker than 100% PG. I did get a 50/50 mix from another vendor that was VERY thick. VG is a much thicker liquid than PG, and it is sweeter. VG bothers my throat as well, but so does nic over 18mg. I have lots of vapor with the 80/20 PG/VG ratio. But I never had much smoke with normal smoking because most of it stayed inside my body. So I am not trying to have billowing clouds of vapor....as it is I produce FAR more vapor than I ever produced exhaling smoke. I think they are equally safe, but I prefer the higher PG mixtures...to me they taste better. VG for some reason makes my throat itch. I have no food allergies or anything like that normally, so I don't know what it is. I accidentally had ordered a liquid that was 100%VG when we first started out and I couldn't vape it at all....first it totally made the flavor taste differently and secondly it made my throat itch terribly. Like everything else, it is a matter of personal preference. I use only cartos and the liquid that is super thick does take longer to absorb. Right now I don't have any that is thick at all. I am using all 80/20 mixtures and they are very thin, which is fine with me. The easier to absorb into the filler the better for me.
