My wife gave me the best advice for a new job I've ever had. She said that when you are starting a new job it's like going into stranger's house for the first time. You have be a guest at first. Then you get to know them and it becomes your house, too. So don't act too familiar or comfortable until it becomes your house.

I don't know if anybody has thought about this before but it's very difficult to describe the quality of juices. So what I propose is that we come up with a scale and some terms similar to wine, beer, cigar, etc. tasting. Below is my first pass at it. I'm hoping everyone will jump on this and expand the idea. The Dr.J E-Juice Scale (DJE scale) Spicy – 1=no spiciness, 3=slight spicy flavor, 5=hot like cinnamon Sweet – 1=not sweet at all, 3=sweet but not overpowering, 5=sugary sweet Harsh – 1=very smooth, 3=a little bit, 5=harsh throat reaction Nutty – 1=no nutty flavor, 3=slight nutty overtone, 5=very nutty Dry – 1=slippery and not dry, 3=a slight dry flavor, 5=very dry Fruity – 1=no hit of fruit, 3=slight fruity tone, 5=overpowering fruit flavor Bitter – 1=no bitterness, 3=bitter but not overly so, 5=very bitter like a high hop beer Minty – 1=no mint flavor, 3=hint of mint, 5=very strong mint flavor Medicinal – 1=no medicinal flavor, 3=slight medicinal taste, 5=very medicinal Aroma – 1=no perceived smell, 3=subtle aroma, 5=strong perceived aroma Strength – 1=flavor is very mild, 3=moderate flavor, 5=very pronounced flavor vapor – 1=poor vapor, 3=decent vapor, 5=outstanding vapor throat hit – 1=almost no throat hit, 3=good throat hit, 5=very harsh throat hit I'll give some examples to help get this started: Dulcis - sweet:3, harsh:1, nutty:2, fruity:3, vapor:3, throat hit:2 We can also use some terms to describe it such as smooth sweetness with a hint of vanilla Midnight - sweet:4, harsh:1, Fruity:4, vapor:3, throat hit:2 Nice sweet juice with a moderate strawberry flavor with a smooth, slightly bitter after taste. Awesome Vapor 555 - nutty:4,dry:3,sweet:1,vapor:3,throat hit:3 Very dry, nutty flavor with a hint of tobacco taste

Yeah, and we are saving big time on an early funeral. Those things are expensive!

Until big business finds a way to make huge money off PVs, this is not going to stop. Look at the way it is now. Little internet vendors like Arno and Jeff are selling these things via mail and making a modestly little sum of money for their trouble. The Chinese aren't getting rich off manufacturing them either. Probably no more profit than making Hello Kitty dolls. But the money being generated by analogs is off the chain. The tax money only seems to be enough to keep FL running. So until there is a way for big business and big government to make huge bucks, they are going to continue to try to ban them. However, if PM or RJR come out with their own products (which they are already working on), the FDA will ban the Chinese models and approve the big tobacco versions. So we will still have our devices only they will be much more expensive and juice will probably be taxed to high heaven. Now this may not be an all together bad thing. We may come up with a much more quality product. And our juice may be safer and better tasting. It just remains to be seen.

I saw Parked's review on youtube. Has anybody tried one yet? They look like they fixed most of the issues. I'm curious if they still leak and if they still have the connector issues. It does look like they fixed the button, thank God!

Three Hundred Sixty Five Days...
jmhester replied to Vacker1229's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Congrats! That is awesome! You might be one of the first of us to go a whole year. -
I don't know if you have made a purchase yet but here's my .02 worth. I own an eGo but not a Spade. I do own a VP2. The eGo is beautiful! Nothing wrong with it except the battery might be expensive to replace. We just don't know yet. If you want long battery life, good vapor and throat hit, I would buy a VP2. It uses a 900mah battery that last all day and they are pretty cheap and easy to find. Jeso sells it in an 801 and 510 model. I would get the 801 and get a 510 adapter from him. The adapters work great and if you sweet talk him, he might throw one in. The unit is $99 but worth every penny. I've had one for several months and it's my main PV. I'm sure I'll be handing it down to my grandkids! If you are cash strapped right now, look at the DSE905 from myvaporstore. They are running them for $59 and I really like mine. It uses the same battery as the VP2, is all metal and works very well. The downside is that it comes as a 901 and you need a $6 adapter to run a 510 atty. For my money, the VP2 is the best. Flexible in that you can run your 510 attys with an adapter but you can also run an 801 atty if you want.

How about this wonderful new stuff they have added to analogs. Here's a qoute from Public Health Statement for Vinyl Acetate: "Studies with animals also suggest that breathing vinyl acetate may affect the immune system and nervous system. The extent and way in which vinyl acetate affects these systems is not well understood. There is no evidence that vinyl acetate causes cancer in humans. Vinyl acetate caused tumors in the noses of rats that breathed 600 ppm for 2 years. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has determined that vinyl acetate is possibly carcinogenic to humans (Group 2B)." Thanks, FDA! I know you really have our back!

Like kitsuni, we all have our favorite vendors. You can't go wrong with any of the vendors listed on this site. For what it's worth here's my favs: http://www.wordupecig.com/ http://www.awesomevapor.com/ http://shop.rockymountainvapor.com/main.sc You can kind of shop around and find things cheaper here or there but for the most part USA vendors will get stuff to you in 2 or 3 days. You can save a good bit more usually with Chinese vendors but you better not be in a hurry!

Happens to me lots. Right now I'm hunting for the DSE905. I know it's got to be here somewhere! I even lost a bottle of 11mg juice in my office. Does this ever happen to anybody else?
-
Now this is an interesting thread! You put it in a way I never thought about. Think about the time required to go buy analogs, hunt down lost lighters, etc. My wife will spend 10 minutes digging in her purse for a damn .99 lighter!

I've tried Dulcis and Midnight and they are super. However, I was wanting to try Traditional Tobacco and wanted some opinions. The Johnson Creek stuff is way to strong tasting for me. Does the Traditional Tobacco have a strong taste like that or is it more subtle? Just don't want to waste my money on something I may not like.

I'm sure all of you have seen the "Lucky Cat" especially if you've traveled to the orient. If not here is what one looks like: I have a little black and white kitty that waves at me to let her in the house so I especially like this story. Anyway, for all you cat lovers on here, this is the legend of the Maneki Neko (the welcoming cat). Maneki Neko -- The Legend This is the legend of the Maneki Neko: In the 17th century, there was a rundown and poverty-stricken temple in Tokyo. The temple's priest was very poor, but he shared what little food he had with his pet cat, Tama. One day, a wealthy and important man was caught in a storm while hunting and he took refuge under a big tree near the temple. While he waited for the storm to pass, the man noticed a cat beckoning him to come inside the temple gate. This was so startling that he left the shelter of the tree to have a closer look at this unusual cat. At that moment, the tree was struck by lighting. As a result, the wealthy man became friends with the poor priest, and the temple became prosperous. The priest and his cat never went hungry again. When Tama died he was buried in the Goutokuji Temple's cat cemetery with respect and love, and the Maneki Neko was made in honor of him. A Maneki Neko in your place of business, your home or on your website is said to bring in good luck and visitors. Maneki Neko is Japanese for "beckoning cat." The message he's holding says "Please come in. You are welcome!" and he is beckoning you with his paw . (In Japan, the gesture of beckoning is pretty much the reverse of the gesture used in the West.)

I was poking around this morning and found a bunch of PVs on eBay. Several months ago there weren't any. What's changed?
-
Jeff at wordup usually has plenty. I like his and Arno's the best. Try Jeff's Merit. It's my fav!

I had some issues with the 14500 battery on the VP2 and thought it was just some bad batteries. But then I realized the contacts get corroded pretty easily. So I just clean the + and - ends with some alcohol and they worked fine. It might even been worth swabbing off the contacts on the Spade, too. BTW-A volt meter isn't really going to tell you much. Even mostly dead, a battery is going to read 3.7v. It's under load that is what really matters. Remember, batteries store electrons, not voltage. Current is the amount of electrons, voltage is the only the "push".

Worst Product From Ces 2010: Electronic Cigarette
jmhester replied to Christopher's topic in General Vape News
OK. The guy is supposedly a reviewer of electronic products. We could actually take this one of two ways. One, that this is a disposable e-cig and I can't imagine any of us buying such a product since it's a huge waste of money. Unless, of course, you are stuck somewhere without your gear and it's the only alternative. So we could assume he meant nobody would buy a disposable e-cig. Two, the guy is a complete idiot and has not even googled e-cigs before writing his a blog. So I guess it's up to us to decide! -
I was thinking of making a 6V mod that would plug into the wall. Seems pretty simple to me. Just a wall wart, a connector and a button. How hard could it be?
-
I'm not a mod guru but here's the basics: a power source (battery, etc.) an atomizer (might just need to buy this) a connector to screw the atomizer to the power source a button to connect the power source to the atomizer That's about it. Pretty simple device! get connectors here

Welcome to vaping! Looks like Chris answered all your questions. It took me a couple of tries before switching to vaping, too. Congrats!

Couldn't be too bad if Keenan didn't ban you! Just kidding! Hey, it's all good, man. Don't know what this is about but I'm sure it's cool. We all tend to get on a soapbox here from time to time.

Good catch! 100,000 scripts? Geez!

A slightly negative article E-Cigarettes may not be the answer to Quitting Smoking But the doctor qouted in the article has a blog. He seems like a very sharp guy who could be reasonable. Please go over and comment on his blogs. Let's keep it postive and try to persuade him to join us over here for a discussion. Let's face it, we don't REALLY know if what we are doing is safe. But we do trust that it's a darn sight safe than analogs! Here's the link to Dr. Mintz's blog

As part of my evaluation of the Janty eGo, I wanted to see how long the 600mah battery would last. I heavy vaped it for 10 hours before it died. The coolest thing is that it never dropped off one bit. Suddenly, the light started flashing and then it cut off completely. Pushing the button did absolutely nothing. So I thought that was a very cool feature. Just keeping you guys updated.
