See, God Does Pay Attention !

Awesome story! I hate those kids wearing pants down around their butt crack! A buddy of mine "pants" one at a casino in Vegas. Of course this was after 3 rounds of a**juice is the Double Down! (Vegasvapor should know where that place is!) -
I saw this video awhile back and did some research on Snus. It seems as it is not as cancer causing as other tobacco products and seems generally safe. The process of burning the tobacco is what releases the harmful stuff from what I've been reading. I think the Snus would be much less harmful to the lungs since you don't have the tar extracted through burning. Nicotine vaporizes at about 95F and our atomizers run at about 120F, so from that I would guess that mostly nicotine would be extracted from the Snus if you vaped it. Maybe some of the other chemicals would, too. I think the best way is to extract the nicotine per this method: http://www.e-cig.com/shopping/shopcontent.asp?type=eliqrecipes I think I would use Snus for this since the pasturization process seems to render out some of the harmful chemicals.

Any Respiratory Therapist On The Forum?
jmhester replied to jmhester's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I wish that were true. If it were, we would have atomizers that last a lot, lot longer. Our atty just use a simple coil. If somebody would develop a piezo model, it would be way more efficient and more durable for sure. -
Any Respiratory Therapist On The Forum?
jmhester replied to jmhester's topic in General Vaping Discussion
That's what I figured but I wasn't sure. I'm VERY familiar with Albuterol but from another "use" in performance enhancement. Unfortunately, it's prescription if I recall. I was seriously thinking about bodybuilding suppliments in juice. Maybe something like an NO precursor like arginine. I would assume it would find it's way into the blood stream much faster via the lungs. Might boost performance elsewhere, too! -
When you come out of surgery (especially if you are a smoker), they send the respiratory therapist to make you "vape" on this little pipe thing. They load it up with a fluid that I suppose is to help clear your lungs. I was wondering if anybody knew what that liquid contained? Seems like it would be a good addition to some juice to help clear out your lungs. Wouldn't it be a hoot if it was PG?

My dad asked me this same question. He said when it his 510 atty gets hot, he disconnects it from the battery. I was like "Dad, there is a manual button. No power!". He's a EE, too but he went to Auburn! :P

Singing In The Shower With Electronic Cigerette?
jmhester replied to StevenP's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I float around the pool with my e-cig and I'm trying to come up with a floating mechanism like the floating key chains they have for boaters. I know with the rum flowing, it's eventually going to get dunked! Oh well, got until next summer to figure that out! :P -
Roger what Keenan said. Can't go wrong with those 3.

Last night I was watching a Chantix commercial and they were talking about the requirements to stop smoking. One that was on the list was a support system. I really never thought about it before but VT is our support system. We are all here to help each other become non-smokers. We respond to questions, concerns, and even emotional issues. I don't know why I never looked at it that way but I swear I would never have been successful without the support from the members on this board. Kind of cool, don't you think?

Fake cigarette doesn't bother me. The smokers who think it's just a gadget kind of bother me. The ones that gets me are the non-smokers who think I'm really still smoking, just doing it differently. Anything other than cold turkey is just not good enough for them. I've had some people say I'm "cheating". Hey, the way I'm looking at it, I'm cheating the government out of tons of tax money, I'm cheating the healthcare system out of treating me for COPD and perhaps lung cancer, and I'm cheating my wife out of collecting my life insurance early. I'm also cheating that doctor that told me if I didn't quit smoking I wouldn't grow to be an old man. Who said cheaters never prosper?

Hey, man, it's no big deal. I changed over to vaping several months ago but still have an analog every now and again. You can't promise yourself you will never have one forever. That's just too hard mentally. Once you get a 510, you will find your self smoking analogs less and less. But don't beat yourself up. Even if you still have an analog, it's not the end of the world. Heck, even if you just cut down to 4 or 5 day, that's a huge improvement!

Merry Christmas everyone! I think this is probably all our first smoke free Christmas! That is worth celebrating!

Add me to the list of people thinking about a new atty design. I think in the future, our e-cigs will be totally different. We will look back on these as "primative". I'm really not interested in starting another business this late in life but I would be willing to help out some of you entrepreneur types who still have the energy to work 24/7 on your "baby". The atomizer, though it is the heart of the system, is really super simple. But it draws lots of current. There are plenty of other heating elements available other than a simple coil. Of course, they are also more costly. So what's the advantage? Long lasting (how about a permanent atty?), low current drain (think of a 250mah battery lasting for 3 days without a recharge), and better heat transfer (ie. 3.7V vaping like 6V). Get the idea? Of course they would have to be made in China to be cost effective but them's the breaks!

I try to order some extra juice and a couple of attys every payday. That way I stay ahead.
-
That's funny! But it's why I have the rule of never getting below 2 extra atty!

Comments made! Thanks for post this! I used the "Dr." thing. Couldn't hurt! -
Like Ofortuna said, just put your juice in the baggie like they say. I usually stuff my gear in a camera case and then put that in my laptop bag. Never had a single question on it. Even stealth vaped on the airplane! As for car charger stuff, I picked up my USB car adapter at a convenience store. I've seen them at truck stops, too. And you can get one at Radio Shack if there is one near by.

Smokedigital Any Good?
jmhester replied to DannyBoyfromWashington's topic in General Vaping Discussion
My personal experience with SLB stuff is that it's crap but that's just been with the 801 attys. 2 out of 3 were DOA. -
There is certainly a number of ways to heat the juice to it's vaporization point which is about 55C or 130F. That's a summer day in Quatar! The current draw on an 801 atomizer coil is almost a dead short with only 3 ohms of resistance, I would assume so that it will generate heat quickly. However, with any coil, it's going to eventually burn through and cause an open (dead atty). What I've been thinking about is a piezo electric (quartz) heating unit. They are used in all kinds of heating elements. And then there is a ceramic heating elements. I would think that either of these would be much more reliable than a coil and the longevity would way offset the extra expense. Dang! Now somebody is going to steal my idea!

I forgot to mention something that really helps. Take a paper towel, twist up a corner, and stick it down in the atomizer so it's touching the bottom. Don't ram it in there too tight so that it might damage the coil but enough to touch bottom. Then turn it upside down (big open part down) in a shot glass with some paper towel in the bottom. This will wick out the excess juice. You might have to repeat the process a few times until the paper towel comes out clean. I store all of mine that way and it really seems to help. Then hook it up and drip a few drops of juice directly in the atty to prime it. Then vape as usual. Try that and see if it brings your atty back to life.

I found that when they die, they just completely stop working. You can press the button and put your ear to the atomizer to check. It should make a sizzling noise. No sizzle, dead atty. And they do just all of a sudden quit working. Now, they do get weaker over time. You will notice that they don't produce as much vapor. They don't have as much "kick" and don't really satisfy you. Some of these folks clean them but I haven't had much luck with that bringing a weak one back. I find that when I start wanting an analog, it's a sure sign that my atty is getting weak and it's time to put on a new one. There is no hard and fast rule but most of us have found that it takes about 4-6 weeks before they just don't work that well anymore. So that's my experience. And I always say "Happiness is a fresh atty!"
