For any microorganism to grow certain conditions must be met: Temperature and humidity must be high, typically over 85% but ideally over 90%; food must also be present; this food should be in the form of simple sugars. This is one major reason plants store the food for their seeds in the form of starches! And finally, access to water is needed to fuel the fermentation process of breaking down the sugars for food.

Propylene glycol has a magical effect of preventing mold growth. It is used in humidifiers for this very purpose. Along with its emulsifing properties and very low toxicity, PG, even when mixed with water, keeps humidity levels at 70%. It also prevents water uptake by these microorganisms therefore preventing germination of the spore itself. Indeed, PG is a truely magical substance!

Also, if the carto is made of inorganic material as opposed to, say, cotton, that will inhibit mold growth as well.

None in our liquids either. Right now there seems to be an all-out panic on another forum regarding this. But now is not the first time it has come to light-- Most of the suppliers that have been around for a while have been aware of this for a long time. There was kind of a panic on the big forum maybe around 2008 or so, maybe early 2009.. When we were choosing manufacturers, this was one of the things we made sure were NOT in the flavorings, as well as added sugars and oils. New liquid vendors spring up almost daily, though.. it certainly doesn't hurt to ask before buying. Frankly, I wouldn't want to vape the stuff when I can vape perfectly yummy liquid without it.

My sister-in-law is a survivor, cancer-free today! And she's young, under 40.

At JL, you have the option of all PG, all VG, or a blend. The blend is 70%PG, 30%VG.

Juicy flavorings contain NO PG.(and no VG either!)
Classic flavorings contain a tiny amount of PG.

I think the very best thing to do is to have an understanding and loving attitude. Addiction is rough. Some people are able to pick up an e-cig and be done with smoking, others take some time to get used to the idea, both smoking AND vaping for a while. Understanding means making sure that vaping supplies are available and accessible, but not pushing, nagging, or acting "miffed" if he reaches for a cigarette. Patience and love are your allies. Remember that you respect your significant other, and if there is naggy mothering going on, he is not going to feel respected, and may well want to smoke more out of spite!

PS-- I am NOT insinuating that YOU nag! It's just a mistake that a lot of people DO make when trying to help someone overcome addiction. <3
