  1. practically non-existent here, one of my friends got a $20 e-cig at a gas station, vaped an entire cartridge, then had an analog, i showed him the ways of the eGo, waiting to see if he takes the plunge, another friend had an evny, quit for a couple days, then went back to analogs, trying to convert him as well. Jon
  2. Always glad to hear that I've made the right decision on accident. Jon
  3. a friend of mine had the envy, really weak sauce, even weaker than the blucigs. i think the only way to get any sort of a powerful hit out of it will be to fill your own cartos with some crazy-high-nic juice like 36mg. or cut your losses and get a better device (eGo, 510, riva, etc...). if you go this route, realize beforehand that 8mg juice in an eGo hits WAY harder than 18mg juice in an entry-level device, such as the envy. Jon
  4. sounds interesting, how are you liking these cartos so far? i almost got some of these, but ended going with the clear dual-coil xl cartos instead, but it looks like these'll hold a crapload of juice. Jon
  5. i'd probably veer more toward the regular eGo for a starter kit, because it's cheaper (puresmoker.com has it for 50 bucks, with a free bottle of ejuice), plus you can try direct dripping, and see whether you like old school cartridges. You can always get a tank atty and cartridges later on (in fact, you could nearly get a tank atty and 5 tanks with the money you'll save by going with the regular eGo). I agree with beans, get some cartomizers as well, then you have 3 methods to try. Take this with a grain of salt as it's just one guy's opinion, but I recommend pretty strongly against tank systems for testing new flavors, i've found that they change the flavor of some juices quite dramatically, especially fruit flavors. most of the reviews i've read that are favorable to the tank have been from people who vape mainly tobacco and menthol flavors. I've tried 3 fruit flavors with my ego tank, and the taste is quite terrible, but with coffee flavors, it's not so bad, the 510-t tank at low resistance tastes exactly the same to me as a cartomizer (with a coffee-based e-juice). Basically the best advice I can give is try everything, expect to spend more the first month or 2 experimenting than you did buying cigarettes (especially if you have picky taste buds), find out what works for you. Tanks are a great idea and very convenient, but they have a ways to go before i'd consider them the end-all solution IMO. Lastly, keep all the e-juice that you don't like at first, and try them again every couple weeks, your tastebuds will change dramatically. Jon
  6. lol, it's all good, yes, goodprophets is very reputable, i've bought tons of stuff through them. as far as i know, any ego charger will charge any ego battery, you just don't want to charge 510 batteries with it. Jon
  7. if you're passing out, you may wanna dial it back a tad, or go with lower nic juices. i started with 18-24mg, and it was completely ridiculous, i changed to 8-12, and it's way better now, and i vape nearly constantly without any issues. I wouldn't even bother trying to figure out how many whatevers equal a whatever, just vape when you feel like it, and don't when you don't, chances are your vaping habits will be nothing like your smoking habits were. If i had smoked as much as i now vape, i'd have died years ago Jon PS: when your atty is dead, it'll do nothing, if it just tastes bad, it may be too dry, pull the tank off and drip a couple drops on the spike. was taste your previous issue?
  8. I completely agree, batteries are on sale at goodprophets right now (just ordered a pair of 1000mah) Jon
  9. if you really want a smaller ecig, and considering how little you smoke, a joye 510 is probably right up your ally, it's very universal with whatever methods of vaping you end up going with, and it's fairly small. if you're going for smaller, i'd start a new thread with very specific verb-age to that affect, i'm sure there are some that can recommend good small devices (hurry mentioned a few). i would avoid stuff like the blu or greensmoke, i had a blu for 2 weeks, and it was pretty useless. I have heard that there are ok off-the-shelf ecigs, but you'll have to do a lot of research to find one worth buying. Jon
  10. http://www.heaven-gifts.com/product-292.html $30.50 before shipping, works with 900 mah Jon
  11. scrapman: the 3 juices i used in the tank were 70pg/30vg mixes that i'd dripped prior and liked a lot, there is a very distinct difference in tastes. as for cleaning atomizers, i've had very good success, i have one atty that i've cleaned over 10 times, and it works great. the tank atty just takes longer to dry afterwards, but once it is, all is well. it's a moot point anyway, because the bizarre taste was apparent with the first use of the atty, and has been neither made better or made worse by cleaning it. i tried blowing out one of the first atty's i got, and it absolutely destroyed it, the regimen of cleaning i use works extremely well. i do understand the concept of never cleaning anything, and it makes sense if you have one or two juices you use, but i'm still sampling flavors, and mixes of vg/pg, and nic levels, and don't have any absolute go-to's yet, and if i were to have bought an atty for every individual flavor i've tried (nearly 70 so far), i'd be quite broke, and would have thrown away a crapload of atomizers. My cleaning method gets a little more fastidious each time, but i have a "control" liquid i use to make sure things aren't being screwed up by the cleaning process, and the only time it was is when i used isopropyle (incorrectly spelled) alcohol to clean an atomizer, i went back to my boiling/ear bulb method and all was well again. I'm going to try both the 1/8th inch thing, and the scissor scraping thing, see if either of them work well. also looking at dual-coil cartomizers as a possible driving around solution. Thanks everyone for your insights. Jon
  12. sweet-vapes has really good stuff, puresmoker has a good sampler pack, it's about 52 bucks for 23 flavors, dfwvapor has some good flavors too, unfortunately they don't have any sampler packs that i've been able to find. Jon
  13. hmmmm, gonna have to try that, i did pull the plastic piece off that gets pierced by the spike, and i have dripped a couple drops before putting the tank on, but not the scissor shaving trick, i'll give that a shot, thanks kitsune Jon
  14. i'd like to propose a moment of silence **T.A.P.S. plays in the background**
  15. well fiddlesticks guess it's back to cartos during the day for me.. which will be less of an issue once i pick a go-to driving around juice Jon
  16. so i've got the ego tank system, using it with my regular ego battery it's the lr atty, and the blue tanks, so i've tried 3 juices with it, all of which taste great in cartos, carts, or directly dripped. but when i use the tank system, the taste is..... off, it's hard to describe, kind of a plasticy, metally taste, not too good, i've boiled the crap out of it each time i moved onto the next liquid, also cleaning the tanks, but it's the same story each time, it's basically the right flavor, but with a hint of terribleness. anyone know what this is all about? Jon
  17. so...... eggplant not so good as a nicotine delivery system, no wonder i still wanted to smoke after eating 15 of them
  18. vg juices are known for having less flavor than mixes or pure pg, i'd try blends, 50/50 works well for me personally. i just tried the fluval mod on my mega cart, ended up with a puddle on my desk, haven't tried my 510s yet, though. Jon
  19. the stomach thing is likely your body reacting to the change, i get the same thing, but it's going away now. the dry throat thing happens more with some juices than others, but it seems to be more related to the flavoring than the mix of pg/vg. i'd try 100%vg, but buy a small amount, to me, most pure vg liquid tastes like tree bark, and pure pg juices taste just plain bad. blends work best for me, 50/50 is my personal sweet spot, not too much of either. also, and this is just my experience, chinese juices have an aweful taste, regardless of the mix or flavor, i switched to u.s.-made juices exclusively, and i'm much happier with the flavor. as for strength, i'd pick a flavor you like, and get strengths from around 8mg to 18mg, and see what works best, also keep in mind that more intense flavors make the whole juice "feel" stronger, for example, anything with vanilla or caramel in it, i have to get at a lower nic level. It gets easier eventually, once you figure out what works for you. we all have different tastebuds and chemical balances, so what works for one person probably won't work for another. Jon
  20. the only reason i might not go with the kr808 is that it seems to be a cartomizer-only device, i thought i would only ever use cartomizers, until i dripped, it really is great, and with the kr808, you're unlikely to ever have that option, plus cartomizers aren't very good for trying different liquids, as you have to boil out the old juice and let them dry for a couple days before you can put another type of juice in it, with something like the 510, you can get a bunch of atomizers to try different flavors, and switch to cartomizers once you find the best juice for you. Atomizers dry a lot faster after cleaning, and if you're rotating like 5 or so, you can constantly try new flavors. Jon
  21. if you're dripping, i'd get a drip tip, it's easier than pulling a cartridge off. i wouldn't drip if you're using a full cartridge, you could end up with leaking Jon
  22. does anyone understand what this means?
  23. i don't think anyone should be too concerned with the accuracy of the banners, nobody smokes the exact same number of cigarettes everyday anyway (unless their far more fastidious than me, which is hard to imagine), so there'll be some cumulative error over time regardless, it's really more a representation of how long you've not smoked, imho. Jon
  24. understandable, look at the 510, 801, 901, and so on, there are a lot of good vendors out there. i would personally recommend the 510, it's got all the options you could ever want, and when the need for more battery life outweighs the desire for a smaller form factor, you can always get an ego battery and charger and your 510 attys and cartos will screw right in. unfortunately, there isn't really a one-size-fits-all solution, but i think most of us start and end in the same spot, wanting something small that feels like a cigarette, and then realizing how little it actually matters and going with something bigger. The 510, however, is a major upgrade from a proprietary kit, and i think you'll be pleasantly surprised. The real challenge is finding the right juice, i've now tried about 60, and there's only 4 or 5 that i really like... I am, however, the pickiest person on earth. Jon
