  1. lol, many questions indeed. as someone who has just bought all of this stuff, i think i can help. "So I read in a previous thread that for direct dripping using my eGo to go with the LR atomizer. What the difference with that and the mega I see in the store?" the mega atomizers are just bigger, they're the same diameter as your ego battery, instead of skinny like the 510 attys that came with it, and they come in standard resistance and low resistance, i got the low resistance ones, because lr is frickin awesome! "If I get the regular lr atomizer are there cartridges for that or should I just go with a tank system?" there are cartridges for the skinny 510 attys, and the mega attys in both cone and cylinder styles. however, carts aren't very good, you're better off using your atomizers for direct dripping, and a tank system or cartomizers for when you can't drip. "Typically I just direct drip with my atomizer but I see that some are using cartridges (do they leak) or the tank system and are happy." i haven't had any leaking issues with cartridges, but direct dripping is way better. the tank system hasn't leaked very much for me. if you can direct drip, do, i prefer it to everything else. "Will my cone fit over a regular or mega atomizer? Do I need a drip tip for either...looks so." your cone will fit over the 510 style atomizers, not the megas, as they's the same diameter as the big end of the cone. you need a drip tip for any atomizer you want to drip with (at a buck apiece, get one for 510, one for ego cone, and one for ego cylinder and be prepared for everything) "If I want to try the tank system, do I need a special atomizer?" yes, you need an eGo-T atomizer (the -T is for tank) and yes, it will work with your regular eGo "Do I buy the tank cartridges separately?" yes, look for eGo-T tank cartridges, they're usually blue, translucent and all plastic. "Should I just go ahead and get a tank kit?" you could, you'll have to weigh your options, the tank kit is easier to clean and refill than cartomizers "Should I just stick with the lr cartomizers I have been using with success?" IMO, cartomizers are great if you're sticking with one particular liquid, if you're trying a bunch of different liquids, they're a huge pain to clean all the time. if you fill them with the same liquid over and over, you only really have to clean them once they start producing less vapor and throat hit. tanks and cartomizers are both great options for when you can't drip, i've tried them both and can't really decide on which is best. hope this helps Jon
  2. you can refill the carts with whatever liquid you like, your options are to either vape the stuff that's in there already, then clean them out and fill with your s-v liquid, or immediately clean them out and fill with your s-v liquid, the process is similar, either way you go. go to a grocery store, or walgreens or something and get a baby's nose bulb. fill a small container with really hot water, suck up some hot water into the bulb and force it through the cart 5 or 6 times, then pull the filler out, drop it into the water and work the liquid out with your fingers, set it on a paper towel to dry, then use the bulb again on the now-empty cart, forcing hot water through it a couple times. set aside to dry for 24 hours, once dry, put the filler back in, fill with liquid, vape away. that's for an already-vaped cartridge, for an unvaped one, do the water parts twice as much. ATTENTION!!!!!! if, by cartridge, you actually meant cartomizer, disregard this advice, do not pull the fill out of a cartomizer, you'll never get it back in properly, there's a different method for cleaning those. Jon
  3. my favorite atomizers so far are the big cylinder style eGo atomizers, if you get them from goodprophets, they come with a free drip tip http://www.shop.goodprophets.com/product.sc?productId=152&categoryId=46 They are quite a bit larger than the 510 attys, which makes the whole ensemble look better imo, as they're the same diameter as the eGo batteries, they are, however, more expensive. I would definitely recommend going low resistance, i did, and i can't even use the 510 sr attys that came with my eGo anymore, they're just not as good as lr. I got a 306 lr atty with a drip tip (very necessary), and it works very well, plus they're only 6 bucks, which is awesome, it is kind of a pain to get the drip tip off, due to how it's designed, but as long as you're not arthritic you should be fine. I also got the tank system, and it's great for when you're out and about and dripping isn't an option, plus they're much easier to clean and fill than cartomizers. one thing i noticed is that the tank system seems to go through the juice much quicker than dripping or cartomizers.... not sure if that's all in my head, it could be... i probably wouldn't drip with the tank atty, due to it's design. As for the cone cover, that's for 510 style stuff to get a tighter draw,. If you're using an eGo tank, or the big eGo atomizers, it's impossible to use the cone cover. Jon
  4. I got the tank system with lr atomizer and it's pretty good, the tanks don't really last much longer than a cartomizer, though, in fact, i'd probably say that cartomizers last longer (which is odd since it takes 30 drops to fill a tank, and about 20 to fill a carto), i haven't tried the enormous cartomizers yet, as i haven't found any for the eGo. When at home i direct drip with the lr big cylinder style eGo atomizers (WAY better than the little 510 attys). as for something to get you through a long day, i'm pretty much either filling 5 cartos or tanks in the morning, and topping off whatever i don't use the next day. wish there was an all-day, one-thing solution, sadly i've yet to find one, pm me a link if you find enormous cartos for the eGo. Jon
  5. I got over the look and feel of the ego not being like a regular cig in exactly one second, it doesn't matter as much as one would think, and the much MUCH longer battery life is well worth it, you can get a genuine eGo kit from puresmoker.com for about 50 bucks. The real dilema is in finding an e-liquid, i've spent about 3 times as much on liquid as i did on the ecig itself, and have only come up with 3 that i like so far. Jon
  6. Finding the right juice is far and away the most difficult aspect of vaping, as i see it, I've tried about 30 or 40, and so far, there are only 3 that i'll actually use on a regular basis. Also, everyone's tastebuds are different and react to different ingredients differently, so it'll all come down to trial and error, as unfortunate and expensive as that ends up being. I can't vape 100% PG juices, i just get a weird taste, and 100% vg just tastes to me like tree bark. The juices i have liked are a mixture of the 2, unfortunately i found this out after placing an order with sweet-vapes for a bunch of their 100% vg juices, so those'll probably all go straight into my give-away pile, which is fairly big at this point. I don't know if it's this difficult for everyone at first, or if i'm just too picky (certainly a possibility). The ones I've liked so far are wild cherry from DFWVapor.com, and nillanova and bananaca from puresmoker.com Keep on trying new ones, you'll eventually find what you're looking for. Jon PS: if you're interested in my give-away pile, let me know
  7. my favorite site so far is puresmoker.com, so far i've only tried their banana cream pie (bananaca) and their "curtis' coffee, but the flavor is spot-on with the bananaca, and very smooth, i tried 4 different vaportalk juices, but they all disagreed with me (no reason you shouldn't try them though). also, dfwvapor's juice is very good, their wild cherry is my current go-to, the boysenberry is pretty intense but you might like it. they also have bacon flavor which is.... unique, it definitely tastes like bacon, but the flavor (for me) was pretty overwhelming. Jon
  8. the vaportalk store (now called forevervapor.com) ships very fast, puresmoker.com is also pretty fast. DFWVapor.com uses some sort of witchcraft to ship things, i ordered something last saturday, and it was here on monday, i don't even know how that's possible. Plus, puresmoker and dfwvapor have us made e-liquid, i don't know about anyone else, but the chinese stuff has something in it that disagrees with me. Jon
  9. I think i used the cartridges with the atomizer like 2 or 3 times, before i just started direct dripping, i found that i really didn't get that many more puffs with carts. Pretty much what i did is pull the filler out of a cartridge, drip 2 or 3 drops directly into the atomizer, put the empty cart back on and vape, after 5 or so puffs, pull the cart off and repeat. Obviously a direct drip tip is better for this, but an empty cart will get the job done. you might also look into getting a tank system, they hold a lot more liquid and there's no filler. Jon
  10. lol, i believe it, i just hope i don't have to change liquid strengths once i start using the low resistance stuff
  11. yeah, i had the blu also, sent back, hopefully getting a refund won't be too big of a deal. The one thing i will say in blu's favor though, is that the flavors (all 3 of them -menthol) are quite good, it's a lot harder in the ego world since there's a million different flavors to choose from. i've tried 11 and i only really like 2 so far, just got a 23-pack of samples to try, hopefully a couple more go-to flavors in there Jon
  12. lol, it's all good, which vapymabob did you order? Jon
  13. lol, thanks the order shipped probably monday, so it's too late to cancel or change, i think what i'll do is order the "ego-t tank atomizer for joye ego", and the "empty cartridges for 510-t tank", that way i'll have 2 atomizers and 10 tank cartridges that'll hopefully work.... if not, i'll give them to somebody on the forums, along with all the liquid i didn't like and chalk it up to a learning experience (just like not using my air compressor gun to blow the water out of my atomizer after cleaning it). The irritating thing about starting out on the vaping adventure is that if you wanna try a lot of different flavors, you have to do a hell of a lot of cleaning (or buy a silly amount of cartos or attys). it does appear, however, due to the wording that good prophets uses, that the atomizers i've ordered or are about to order, are the same as the ones for different ecigs, but modified to work with the eGo, so here's hoping. Thanks Jon
  14. http://www.shop.goodprophets.com/product.sc?productId=206&categoryId=46 that's the "510-T tank atomizer for joye 510 or ego" that i ordered http://www.shop.goodprophets.com/product.sc?productId=184&categoryId=46 and that's the tanks i ordered, "Empty Cartridges for eGo-T TANK" looks like the atomizer will work, but the cartridge might not work with the atomizer (you'd think they could put a link to the right tanks on the page for the atomizer) When i'm at home, i like direct dripping, and that's easy enough, i'll just buy 510 lr atomizers and buy one of each of the 12 different types of drip tips, and hope at least one of them works (using the cartridges that came with the ego now, but without the filler). I'm wanting to try out a tank system for when i'm driving, because cartomizers will be fine once i decide on 2 or 3 liquids i like, but it's a pain to have to clean them over and over again to try new liquids while on the go. It would seem that atomizers would be better for trying different liquids, and out of the 11 liquids i've tried, i've only liked 3, so i've cleaned all 5 of my cartomizers twice, and my atomizers like 4 times each (was tinkering with glycerin to try and calm down the 4 different vaportalk juices i got, turns out there's just something in those that disagrees with my tastebuds) Thanks for the info Jon
  15. Greetings So, got my eGo (regular, not the eGo-T), and one of the 2 atomizers that came with it is already dead (tastes like an electrical tire fire), probably my fault, got a little enthusiastic with the air compressor, anywho, i need new atomizers, and cartomizers, and clearomizers, and tankonators, and spherincizors, and triangulizers, etc... the problem i'm running into, is that nothing seems to be made specifically for the eGo, there's plenty of 510 stuff, and plenty of eGo-T stuff, but basically nothing for the eGo... I figured out after about half an hour of digging that the boge 510 cartomizers work with the eGo, so i got a couple of those, sadly, i didn't know what low resistance meant until after i ordered them, so i got the standard resistance ones, and they're a bit like a macdonalds shake, tons of sucking for a tiny amount of result. So i can order boge 510 cartomizers.. good! but what about atomizers? will 510 atomizers work with my eGo the same way? what about the eGo-T atomizers? can i use those? and can i use any of the tank systems available? One would think that the websites that sell this stuff would give a simple-enough explanation as to what plugs into what, but sadly, that's often not the case, puresmoker.com gives absolutely no information whatsoever on any of their products, dfwvapor only has cartomizers, the vaportalk store is out of stock on everything, and goodprophets gives so much disorganized info that i ended up ordering a 510-t tank atomizer and a pack of ego-t tank cartridges for it and i have no idea whether the two will even work together, or at all with my eGo, i wish someone would make a spreadsheet that shows what will work with what, physically, mechanically, and electrically. Can anyone make the madness less maddening? Jon
  16. My philosophy I didn't start vaping to quit smoking, just to smell better and possibly get my sense of smell and taste back a little bit. I'm the only smoker i know who's never tried to quit smoking, and i think where a lot of people run into difficulty when they quit is that they make a big, dramatic production out of it, tell everyone who'll listen that they're quitting, throw away all their lighters and ashtrays, and if they make it a couple of days, they'll sometimes turn their nose up to people who still smoke as if they're king of the healthy life choices syndicate. It's no wonder they feel like a failure and get all depressed when they relapse, at that point they've built it up way too big, and i think, put WAY more pressure on themselves, and possibly forced their inevitable failure. What i think will work best for me (and probably a lot of people), is not to say you're quitting smoking, not announce it to the world and have cnn film you throwing away all your ashtrays and lighters (keep those lighters for camping trips). hell, leave out your ashtrays, leave the butts in them until they smell too bad. Try vaping as an interesting hobby that tastes really good, do it more and more if you like, do it instead of smoking if you prefer, but don't build up the entire hopes of your existence on it, and don't misdirect a bad choice that you made into hate for tobacco, smoking, or even the people who profit from something that's inherently unhealthy. It was our choice to smoke just like it's our choice to vape, and if we have an analog today, so what? maybe we won't tomorrow, and if we do, it doesn't mean we're failures and that our entire lives are meaningless and all the baby foxes in canada are going to die, it just means that smoking is ridiculously addictive. And that one cigarette in a day, or a week, or however long, is nothing compared to the millions we had when we were full-time smokers. Jon
  17. Yeah, i think you're right about the fruit flavors, cherry and banana taste like cherry and banana, but everything else tastes like either treebark, or bacon popcorn, or something just weird like that, i do have some vt swee dawn, unfortunately, it's 24 mg, so it's like fruity death, i might try diluting that one with a LOT of glycerin, see how it works. Jon
  18. i tried both new cartomizers and clean atomizers, it seems like the vaportalk juice has a sort of bizarre treebark taste that the stuff from puresmoker doesn't, possibly the way they make it... who knows, either way, i should have enough puresmoker curtis' coffee medium nic (tastes to me like bacon popcorn) left to hold me over until my new low-nic liquids arrive, it's quite strong, but i'll manage. I think i'll set my vaportalk juices aside until i fully quit analogs and my taste buds return, and see what the low-nic flavors are like, i'd like to try the vaportalk ones in low-nic form, unfortunately, everything seems to be out of stock. The journey continues.... Jon
  19. i'm curious as to how much of flavor an atomizer retains from direct dripping
  20. I imagine us newb's will get there someday... the thing is though, at least for me, i'm buying up big sampler packs to try a bunch of different flavors, and if i've learned nothing else, i've learned that cartomizers retain their taste even after the liquid has dried. Once i've tried a couple hundred different flavors and decide on a couple of favorites, i'll probably do the same thing, and just keep refilling until they stop working, but in order to try out every flavor in the sampler pack from puresmoker.com, i'd have to buy 25 new cartomizers, which would be a bit ridiculous, imo. this may not apply to atomizers, i've not experimented enough yet to know whether you can just stop dripping one flavor and move onto another without cleaning in between. Jon
  21. Ear Bulb!!!! that's what it's called (you can tell i don't have kids) What i did (not 5 minutes ago) was get the water boiling, dropped in my carto's and atty, let it boil for 5 minutes, than took the pot off the burner, and let the water cool down, and then took them out and blew through them from the thread side, now i'm letting them dry Jon
  22. I'll tell you what you shouldn't do, which is pull the fill out to dry it... it's easy enough to take out, not so easy to put back in, i let it sit for a day and it was nowhere near dry, so i'm not sure how long it takes to dry out so you can re-use it, however, i also didn't blow through it after forcing hot water through it, so that may be why it didn't dry out, from what i've heard, 24 hours is enough drying time, i'm about to boil my boge 510 cartomizers, so i'll let you know how that turns out. As for atomizers, i've been just forcing hot water through it with a..... thing... it's like the rubber part of a turkey baster, and it has something to do with babies, and they're like 4 bucks at walgreens, i have no idea what their intended purpose is, but if you look through the newbie tutorials, there's a great video that shows how to use it. I would think that atomizers need less drying time as there's no fill, but who knows, 24 hours was perfect for me. Jon
  23. so i got some glycerin, diluted some e-liquid down about 50% and it didn't seem to make a whole lot of difference, how much did you dilute yours down?
  24. Well i suppose i'll hang onto them, perhaps try the dilution thing, i'm seriously considering sending my blu back for the 30-day money back thing, i tried using it this morning, and after the effortless eGo, it's like a macdonalds shake, you have to use all your energy sucking to get anything out of it. The really sad thing is that the eGo was cheaper, and the free 6ml bottle of liquid is lasting longer than the 5 cartridges that came with the blu.
  25. Hello everyone I wanted to share this experience so that fellow noobs could hopefully learn from my missteps. So gather 'round kids, it's story time So about 2 weeks ago, i ordered the blucigs starter kit along with 2 extra 5-packs of cartridges, not with the explicit intention of quitting smoking, just to see what the whole ecig thing was all about, essentially the idea was to use the ecig throughout the day so that i don't smell like an ashtray in my client's houses (i'm an in-home computer repair man). It arrived and all seemed allright, not particularly strong, definitely not in line with analogs, but enough to get me through the day until i got home and fired up an analog. I did some reading on this and other forums to learn more about this crazy vaping thing, learned a bunch, and decided to go for the eGo. In the process of making this decision, i also figured it'd be a good idea to get some more potent liquid, as the 16mg cartridges with the blu weren't strong enough, i ended up ordering a couple 16mg bottles and a couple 24mg bottles from vt (macchiato, exotic tobacco, dulcis and sweet dawn), also, a bottle of 1.6% (light) from puresmoker.com (the place i ordered my eGo from). It arrived just the other day, i immediately opened it up, charged the battery and began testing some different liquids with the various cartridges and cartomizers i had, and something just didn't seem right. While all the different liquids tasted different, none of them really tasted good, in fact, they were all kinda gross, and the throat hit was what one might call violent.... I couldn't figure it out, the blu stuff tasted great... luckily, puresmoker gives you a random flavo, random strength bottle of liquid when you buy a kit from them, which just happened to be low nicotine (0.8%), so i figured i'd give that a whirl... and wouldn't you know it, it tasted just as it was supposed to, no harshness or coughing, nice, smooth and pleasant (it's banana flavored, which will unlikely become my top pick) So i guess the moral of the story is, if you're coming over to the eGo world from the blu/green/volcano/smoketip world, don't use their cartridge strength ratings as a measure of what an eGo with liquid is going to be like, the eGo is a MUCH more powerful device. So what i'd do is pick a flavor that you're pretty sure you'll like, and buy one bottle of all the different strengths, and find out which one is right for you before you splurge on a bunch of different flavors. I'm now stuck with $45 of liquid that i can't use and will likely end up giving away, and a dwindling bottle of free liquid that will be gone before my low-strength liquids arrive. I thought i might be able to re-use the blu cartomizers for this high-strength liquid, since the blu's low performance seems to offset the ferocity of the liquids, so i set about cleaning them out so the old taste would go away, but i made the mistake of taking the fill out, which wasn't too hard, the challenge came when i tried to put them back in..... not so easy, as it turns out. So....... anyone want some free liquid? Jon
