  1. Which one would be best for charging up eGo batteries? I don't want to buy the wrong device and end up burning out my batts. Sorry, I'm still dumb about volts, mahs, amps, etc.
  2. Hey all, I took quite a bit from the advice you all gave me on my last topic of how to upgrade my eGo experience. From WordUp I got a new XL battery for the eGo and a drip tip (the latter is plastic and cost almost $5.00. A little pricey, dontcha think?) From Create Vapor, I purchased a LR901 atomizer, an adapter to make it work on my eGo, and a plastic button protector. I want to say that even though there was a slight hiccup with the ordering process, Derek did me a solid and sent along two 10 ml bottles of e-liquid in flavors I chose just by way of an apology. THAT is some generous customer service, my friends. Many thanks to Derek and I will definitely be ordering from you again! My impressions: Obviously, working off only one functional eGo battery was getting tiresome, so the XL batt was most welcome and has delivered a good 8 to 10 hours of use with near constant vaping. The drip tip, though way overpriced, is also proving to be a nice addition. I don't like getting juice in the mouth, and that happens a little with these, but I like not having to keep a napkin around to wipe up e-liquid every time I drip. As for the LR901 atty, you guys were dead on! Very impressive vapor production, so much so that I'm actually vaping a bit less these last couple days. That's a lot of vapor! Does anyone know if the LR attys have a shorter life than "regular" atomizers? The button protector, well, meh. It was $1.50 and I thought what the heck. I don't really think I'll need it much, but we'll see. But the main point of this post was to thank all of you who helped out with advice. I've been so happy with my eGo these past months that I haven't really been paying attention to new developments and mods, and you all hooked me up nicely. So big thanks, Vapor Talkers!
  3. Thanks to all for the great suggestions! Special thanks for letting me know where you can buy this gear! Wondering about those mega-atomizers for the eGo: The sites that sell them say they need a cartridge to go with them. Are they serious or can you direct drip with these? And what's the difference between the mega-atomizer (which is supposedly the same diameter as the battery) and the cone-shaped atomizers which are out there for the eGo? My other questions: 1) If I buy the 901LR atty and the 510 adapter for the eGo batt, will the cone still fit over the whole works, or do I have to go cone-less? 2) Do the XL eGo batteries require a different charger unit?
  4. Hi VaporTalkers, Darth Vaper is back in the house! So y'all, I've been using the eGo exclusively since February, and it is indeed a great vaping experience. (certainly better than when I first started with the 901 and the penstyles of a couple years ago) But as all things have a life, I must report that my two Janty eGo batteries have finally worn out on me. And eight months from two batteries is not too shabby! I picked up a spare from Arno at AwesomeVapor and it works just fine. But I'm a little out of the loop on how to upgrade my eGo experience. I'm looking at 1) Batteries and 2) Atomizers. Since Janty no longer has the exclusive rights as to the eGo, I know there are some other producers out there, but it's been too much for me to keep up with. So here we go: 1) What is available in terms of eGo batteries. I understand there is an XL that someone sells that promises longer battery life. And I know there are now higher voltage batteries out there too. So what should I get? (And please, if you can, give me some supplier names) 2) I'm intrigued by the low-res atomizers, but have not tried them. I assume they pair well with a higher voltage battery, but correct me if I'm wrong. I've tried cartomizers, and to be honest, I'm not that crazy about them. I like to vape different flavors all day long, and I don't care for the rubber end with the hole in it (the "condom method") of using them; call me silly, but I just don't like rubber in my mouth all day! (Keep it clean, folks) I also think the eGo with just the cartomizer looks too strange in public, but that's just me. I'm certainly open to any new designs of cartomizers though, if anyone knows of any. Thanks in advance!
  5. March 3rd, 2009 was the last day I had a cigarette. I haven't looked back, and I don't miss 'em!
  6. I'll add my name to the list of people who have done this. A little e-liquid on my fingers, and then later I rubbed my eye. The pain was indescribable, like someone driving a nail into my eye. I quickly rinsed with water under the tap, plus put some saline drops in (I don't wear contacts BTW). I too worried about permanent damage, but there was none. The redness went away within a few hours as did the pain. Now, I keep my hands clean and out of my eyes when I'm vaping!
  7. I did a web search a week or so ago looking for the same thing: USA made e-liquid. One of the first that popped up on Google was American E-Liquid Store (link). They looked pretty good, fair pricing, free shipping for orders over a certain amount, so I ordered two 30 ml bottles, one English Toffee, the other Black Cherry. Both VG and 24 mg. nicotine. Took about a week to get them to me (they're in Wisconsin, I'm in New York). Must say, I'm impressed. The Toffee has a nice, complex flavor. The Black Cherry tastes genuine. Nice vapor and throat hit. I'll definitely try them again.
  8. Very good choice. Still love mine, been using it since February exclusively.
  9. I just yesterday received 24 mg Rath juice in the Root Beer Float flavor, and I gotta say it's outstanding. Got it from electronicstix.com, my favorite supplier. Can taste both the root beer and the vanilla ice cream flavors in it. How do they do it?
  10. Have ordered from them and had a very nice experience. Very friendly people and very attentive. I ordered a sampling of various flavors. Sadly, I found the flavors just not strong enough for my taste. But I'm going to keep my eye on them and try any new flavors or formulas they come up with when I get the chance, because I like their style and I love their customer service. And I love that they're from the state right next door to me. Taste, as we all know, is highly subjective. I urge you to give them a try.
  11. Chris, Thanks so much for getting this information out. As a New Yorker, I had no idea these bills were pending until I read your post. I have contacted both my Assemblyman and my Senator and told them to vote against these bills. Keep up the good work, Chris!
  12. Except for getting TWO bad battery chargers, I am very happy with my Janty eGo. It's my first mod, so I can't compare it to the others, but it blows my tried and true Joye 510 away (even though they use the same atomizer). Janty USA has been trying to take care of the battery charger issue. Until then, I've been charging the eGo batteries with my 510 usb charger. I would recommend the eGo to anyone.
  13. As I posted in another thread, I learned from the people at Janty that you CAN charge the eGo batteries with a 510 usb charger, it will just take a lot longer. Had to find this out the hard way, as the charger that came with my eGo was defective. Janty USA has been great about it, and have already sent the replacement. But in the meantime, it has been nice to be able to use my eGo, although it takes somewhere around seven hours to charge the batteries on the 510 usb. Just a cautionary note: This does NOT work the other way round. If you try to charge a 510 battery with a Janty eGo charger, the battery would likely explode.
  14. Hmm, Lord Vapor you look . . . somehow . . . familiar. I just received my Janty eGo this week and I would love it but for the fact that the charging unit I received is no good. It wouldn't charge the batteries. On the bright side: Nathan over at Janty USA was really great and attentive. He tested a new charger for quality then mailed it right off to me, no charge. Second, Nathan assured me I could use my 510 usb charger to charge the eGo batteries, although they take MUCH longer to charge up. About seven hours! But at least I can use the eGo while I wait for the new charger. Great, big clouds of vapor, great taste from my juice and super long battery life!
  15. I noticed the intensity of smells for the first couple of months off analogs. Everyone's stories about being grossed out by cigarette smoke and other smells was the same for me. I thought of hiring myself out as a tracking dog. The good news: The brain and nerves do re-wire, as an earlier poster suggested. Your nose finds a happy medium, and the intensity of certain smells wanes. I can still smell a smoker a couple aisles away in a store, but it doesn't make me want to puke. On the upside, all the good stuff still smells great. I was outside the other night when it was only about 10 degrees, with snow all over the ground. I took a deep breath in through my nose, and it brought me right back to being a kid, long before cigarettes came into my life, playing outside in the middle of winter, making snow forts and pinging unsuspecting cars with a well aimed snowball. That was nice.
  16. I want to echo Chris: The 510 would be the best starting point. The cutoff on an automatic battery was really annoying to me when I was making the transition, plus the mouthpiece of the 510 is more like an analog. And the vapor production kicks butt.
  17. I have never worked anywhere with an indoor smoking area. "Smoking lounges" were pretty much outlawed in the early 90's. The best, and I mean the best, you can hope for as a smoker is some form of shelter, like you might see at a bus stop. Most of the places I worked when I smoked had nothing of the kind. You bundle up in your hat, coat, gloves, scarf and boots and headed outside to smoke. Snow, ice, wind, wind with ice and snow in it, you're at the mercy of the elements. But you know, I'd get so tired of people asking "Where ya goin'?" every time they saw me all decked out in my outerwear, I'd often just sneak out without them. You learn to smoke a cigarette very quickly. Like two drags and done.
  18. So where'd you get it and how much did it cost?
  19. Kmel & jmhester, This is great information, and thanks so much for posting it. The more we as e-cig users know about these products, the better we're able to counter misinformation and misunderstanding. Keep up the good work!
  20. I think it would be a good idea to invest in a couple more batteries and a PCC.
  21. I've been dripping for many months on the 510 and go through an atomizer every four to five weeks, without fail. I have no evidence to lead me to believe direct dripping burns through atomizers quicker. As a pointer, remember to always keep the atomizer wet and don't let it heat up so much that it gets too hot to touch.
  22. Yep, what MunkusBFunky said is right on.
  23. I've been vaping now for seven months, and I have two relevant observations: 1st: I don't like using the carts. I tried them for the first few weeks of vaping but got tired of pulling them out, cleaning them, re-stuffing them, etc. But my main gripe is taste. I like to vape different flavors throughout the day. With carts, you have to keep track of which cart is for which flavor or risk mixing two (or more) flavors together that nature never intended and make you feel like barfing. With dripping, you're only committed to one flavor for as long as it takes to vape off all the juice. No carts to wash, no cart fiber to burn up on the atomizer by accident and fill your mouth with toxic waste. Consclusion: I'm solidly in the dripping camp. 2nd: As for models, the 510 just seems to work the best for most people transitioning off analogs. But you can't speak in absolutes; some people like the new 901's with the manual batteries just as much. Others like the penstyles, or the Janty Stick. The newest trend seems to be pairing existing atomizers from proven vaporizer models (901, 510, RN-4072, DSE-801) with a better battery, which many say dramatically improves results. (See the latest video reviews from Chris and Sean ). But if you're just starting out, the 510 is a great choice. I wish it had been mine.
  24. That sucks. I wish I could help, but I know there are some electricians and otherwise very handy people on the forum who will be able to solve this. Bet you're glad you have a PCC as a backup!
  25. Thanks for the replies, everybody! bzeisman: I know, totally puzzling. Chris, I think you might be right and this is just cheap crap. It has a cheap look and feel to it. I don't want to knock the vendor (ecigarettescanada.com), because they responded very quickly to my e-mail requests for assistance. The link to a Lithium-Ion battery looks really good, and doesn't cost much more than what I spent on this piece of poop. Vacker, I'm also interested in the link you posted, but it only took me to the home page, not the actual product. Can you try attaching the file?
