I am interested (finally) in DIY e-liquid, and I am wondering what members have found in terms of savings doing DIY versus purchasing pre-mixed e-liquid. Totally Wicked is now offering a sale on DIY items (this week only), so I'm also curious about anyone's experience with their products.

I remember that moment when I too could laugh without a coughing fit at the end. One of the best gifts of shifting over to vaping.

I started with a 901 four and half years ago. Believe it or not, I actually gave up smoking with this thing.

After having just ditched my MVP v.1 because the plastic power button broke off and couldn't be re-attached successfully, (see thread ), I hope that's a metal button on there for all of you thinking of buying it. Mine didn't even last a year. I really liked the shape and feel of the device, but it did have its downsides: The cutoff time was always too short for me, so I often had to give it a second click midway through vaping to prevent cutoff. (Which is probably what led to the button falling off!) The stupid metal switch on the bottom made it very tipsy. This switch is for enabling you to go from vaping to using the MVP as a portable charger (which I never needed). The MVP was always falling over with the slightest vibration after I set it down. I mean, if you're going to make a rectangular-shaped device, don't ruin its built-in stability by putting a switch on the bottom that's not flush. As previously mentioned in this thread, no eGo threading. My EVOD BCC's were unusable. Triple-click on and off. This was irritating. It was very easy to click it three times accidentally while vaping (because the power button is flush to the body), which then wiped out the puff counter information. (The VV settings were retained though). The puff counter was my only reliable way of estimating how long the battery would last. Hope they changed it to a five-click on/off. Battery level indicator. If the v.2 is the same as the v.1, it means that the light around the power button glows green when you've got power, yellow as power is getting low, and red when it's just about out of power. Most times I'd get yellow going to red after just 3 or 4 puffs, so it's not a very reliable indicator of remaining battery power. When the light is red, you've got 3 or 4 puffs before it shuts down on its own. On the upside, at least they've added a variable wattage and an Ohm reader, the latter being very handy I've found. Oh, and this is not me schilling for a company, but VaporSkinz has some really cool skins for these if you don't dig the colors. I had a very nerdy Doctor Who skin on mine that I loved.

Thanks for clearing that up. I agree, I don't think glue is going to fix this in the long term. But my new Vamo arrived in the mail today, so hopefully the buttons on that will last a little while.

Certainly looks great, love the design elements. However, I went to the site and can't figure out where the OLED or LED readout is on this thing from the pictures. Anybody? Bottom line is the price is just too damn high for me. I'm just not a collector. Thanks for sharing, JeffB! As always, you rock.

Thanks WillBlack for the info. I agree with you. As you might be able to see from my pics, the button on the outside is attached to a rectangular piece of plastic, which in turn is connected to a metal flange-type thing, which is up against the fire switch on the circuit board. That fire switch on the MVP is made out of metal. What exactly is a "tact switch?" It's also kind of a coincidence that after I realized I couldn't readily fix the MVP, I ordered a Vamo (V3). The user buttons are metal, for better or worse. Should be arriving this week.

Just placed my order with the Veteran Vaper for two eFest 18650's (button tops), a Trustfire TR-001 charger, and a little plastic battery storage/transport case. Once the Vamo V3 arrives I should be set, thanks to all of you who chimed in with some advice. Thanks! If there's anything else you can think of, please let me know!

Now I'm researching 18650 batteries for my device (which has just shipped from Hong Kong today). Found the eFest IMR batteries on both Discount Vapers and Veteran Vaper's webstores, with good reviews. Question: Button top or Flat top?

Hi all, My iTaste MVP's power button (MADE OF PLASTIC!) broke for the third time last night and I haven't been able to get it reattached so that I can fire the device. (I posted a thread over in "Help! It Broke!" with pictures if you have any ideas). This was my first mod, believe it or not. But assuming I can't fix this thing (and it's true, I can still use it as a portable power device, thanks to the design) I decided to buy a Vamo V3 from Fasttech.com today. $48.39 for the complete kit, so even if I hate it, I'm not in too deep. Even though I've been vaping over four years now, this will be my first tube-style mod. (I've always shied away from them because they look like, well, you know. Rhymes with "Fill-Dough"). I've never had to deal with loose batteries or a dedicated charger, so I'm kinda in the dark here. The kit I purchased comes with two (2) 18350 batteries. No brand name is given. And, based on the specs from Fasttech regarding extension tubes, I can use the following battery combinations: *the misspellings are theirs, not mine. So here are my questions: I liked the long battery life of my iTaste MVP, which claimed to be 2600 mAh. Can I achieve anything near this with loose batteries in this tube mod? If so, which battery size/strength/brand should I buy? Isn't using two batteries stacked a recipe for disaster? I'm almost counting on the battery charger I receive with the kit being barely adequate. Which battery charger should I buy, considering I want to use the longest-life batteries possible, and to charge batteries of varying sizes/strengths? I want to have enough batteries so that I can keep using the device continuously. Thanks in advance! P.S. If there's a thread or a pin covering all this already, please point me to it and accept my apologies.

Hi all, Darth Vaper here. I've been fortunate to not have to call on my fellow vapors for repair advice for the last four years, but I need you now! The power button on my iTaste MVP fell off a couple weeks ago. I've had the device for about a year, I guess. I used a tiny amount of crazy glue to reattach its tab to where it looks like it mounts. Today it fell off again. Underneath the plastic power button is a tiny metal . . . flange I guess you'd call it, and that sits on the metal power button inside the device which powers it on and off. (Please see picture below) I re-glued it last night (because it was late) and the device wouldn't fire unless I really pressed the power button in hard. So I pulled it apart and then tried for two hours with a pair of tweezers, a bright light and, yes, more crazy glue, to put it back together but I can't get it to work. The device itself is still functioning, it's just the stupid plastic power button that's broken off and can't be reattached (at least not by my best efforts). I'd like to keep the device because, for the most part, I like it (although I probably wouldn't buy it again) and I don't want to buy another device right now. It is also the only VV device I own! What I'm hoping is that one of you can think of a creative way to just keep this thing going. Maybe a pencil eraser in place of the button? Or some other hack that I've not thought of? The only thing I'm not crazy about is using metal on metal because the actual power button is, of course, attached to the circuit board that runs the device and I don't want any self-administered electroshock therapy. The worst e-liquid I have ever tried was called "Spice Cake." I've been vaping for over four and a half years and have tried a lot of different juices so I can't remember where I purchased this (it was online though). Back to "Spice Cake." Sounds promising, right? Who doesn't like a little spice cake? Well I think this was a case of lost in translation, as I have no doubt the juice was produced in China. Apparently, "spice" in China equates to "black pepper", because that's exactly what it was: Black Pepper e-liquid. There was no "cake" component. Turns my stomach just thinking about it, and this was years ago.

This will probably be my next purchase as my Mini Vivi Nova is leaking like crazy despite changing out the tube and tightening everything up as best I could. Plus, my EVOD BCC is great but doesn't fit my iTaste MVP. Looks like the ProTank will.

Getting off-topic but I found out where these mods can be purchased. You search for "Steampunk Mods by Vent69" on Facebook. It's a closed group that you have to ask to join. You can also e-mail the modder's wife at rascal24@roadrunner.com to inquire about mods. I did both. His wife replied saying that the waiting list for mods is so long they're no longer taking orders, but that I can join the group and get updates as to when there is room on the waiting list.

Cool article with a lot of misspelled words! I particularly liked that steampunk mod, and I found a picture of some of them on a site called "vapeporn.com". Anyone heard of it?

Hi folks, Since I'm not ordering from Juicy Vapor anymore (if you don't know, the co-owner was arrested and charged with some pretty abhorrent crimes. I'm an attorney and I resolutely believe in innocent-before-proven-guilty, but if he turns out to be guilty, I don't want to be funding his legal defense), I've been hunting for a good Caramel Macchiato or equivalent. I've tried: Vapor Talk (of course) - sorry Chris, maybe I got a bad batch, but it doesn't taste good and I don't want to bother you with a support ticket. Virgin Vapor's "Organic Caramel Kona Milkshake" - the best so far, but a strong alcohol flavor mixed in that I'm getting tired of. DIY Flavor Shack - tastes like burnt coffee, no caramel flavor at all. Any other Caramel Macchiato lovers out there? Where can I find a good one? Thanks in advance!

Despite your advice, Kitsune, I did remove *some* of the topmost wicking threads, (thought I'd killed it, but it bounced back after about 10 puffs) and the snapping and popping has subsided with continued use (unrelated to the wick pulling, I think). Still can't decide if I like it though. At least it doesn't gurgle and leak like the CE4's were starting to do.
