Since analogs have been around for so long, there has been a lot of testing done on nicotine content vs. absorbtion. The accepted rule of thumb seems to be that each analog contains about 5mg of nicotine and approximately 1mg is absorbed through the smoking process. (can't accredit this) For me, that meant when i was smoking 30 cigarettes a day, I was absorbing approximately 30mg of nicotine through smoking. Now, as a vaper, I usually vape about 3-4ml of 12mg juice daily. That equates to about 36-48mg of nicotine intake daily. Based on this I figured that I was virtually 'no worse off' even if almost all the nicotine ingested was absorbed. The question I have always had is 'how does absorbtion with ecigs compare to analogs?'. At a vape meet last year, I had the opportunity to broach that question with Kurt Kistler (AEMSA subject matter expert) a chemist with experience in ecigs and nicotine. According to my conversation with him, his professional opinion is that the way ecigs are designed (to maximize vapor production) is not the most condusive to nicotine absorbtion and that only approximately 10% of the nicotine is absorbed. Now, this is one person's opinion and I know of no specific scientific studies to back this up ......but WOW! If that is even close to accurate that means i am only absorbing approximately 3-5mg of nicotine a day! Far less than with analogs and giving potential additional credence to the Wiki article stating that nicotine intake is the most important thing. Just my $.02 as I celebrate 2 years analog free!

I am a little over a year vaping now, and have stopped hiding my vaping whatsoever. I vape openly in stores, restaurants, amusement parks, airports, my desk at the office, and yes was even vaping with one hand while they stitched the other at the urgent care center. I am actually surprised at how seldom i get questioned or confronted about it. I do admit to getting a lot of odd looks, but since what i am doing is not prohibited by any state or local laws, I feel I am perfectly within my rights doing so. I often carry my Provari in my hand as i shop and unabashedly take toots at my leisure. Most commonly people that do ask what i am doing are perfectly happy when i say its my electronic cigarette. This type of unabashed vaping has actually resulted in the conversion of at least 3 people to vaping and have had more than a dozen more to whom i have given one of my custom cards that explains about vaping and provides resource information to learn more (including this site). I am of the firm belief that it is easier to ask forgiveness than permission due to the lack of understanding that is generally exhibited when i have tried to ask and explain, i find that just vaping away is now my primary choice! I am proud to be a vaper and equally excited to tell others about vaping when they gather up the courage to ask. By not stealth vaping and doing so openly, i feel this encourages others to ask about what i am doing since i am not trying to hide it. To each their own, but for me, i have gotten over any stigma involved in vaping and I am PROUD TO BE A VAPER!

Congrats Bass! I just passed my one year mark in February...feels great doesn't it? I was at the point where i was convinced that analogs would be the death of me...but no more!

I guess it is pretty much common sense and something we all learned in our younger years, but here is a good tip to remember: Don't carry a spare mod battery in your pocket with your car keys and key ring! I am the proud owner of a new Provari, and since the standard 1100mah battery does not last me all day, i always carry my spare battery with me. Over the last couple months i have always been wearing a jacket, so i put the battery in the inside pocket all by itself. Now that the weather is nice and i am not wearing a jacket anymore, I find myself cramming all my 'crap' into my pants pockets. So, today as i headed out to do some shoppng, i tossed my spare IMR 18490 battery into my jeans pocket with my key ring, never thinking another thing about it. So I am walking through the Target store, and suddenly I feel this heat on my leg! I reach into my pocket and find a VERY HOT set of keys and an equally hot battery! Suddenly I am jumping around the store like a fool, trying to get all this stuff out of my pocket and dropping them on the floor! Drew a few stares, but got the offending items out of my pocket with only a small burn on my finger as a result. The cover on the battery melted and there is a mark on one end from where the metal came in contact with it, but i think it still works. Nonetheless, I will be placing an order for a new one as soon as possible! The moral of the story: Don't forget the stuff we learned in our early years - Metal can complete the circuit on a charged battery and cause all kinds of trouble!

While i generally only visit this forum, with such a potentially negative Ecig story out there, i have been looking at other forums as well trying to gather information. First, I will commend the moderators here for not closing or deleting this thread (as has been done on other forums), I think it is important that real information is shared as well as having the ability to share our own concerns with fellow vapers. That being said, I would like to share a quote posted on that 'other' forum from a registered vendor (saveasmoker.com). Since I cannot personally attest to the validity of the post, the moderators are welcome to delete or alter my post if needed. The quote from 'MaxxVapor' was "I just spoke to the Chief at North Bay Fire District in Niceville. The incident happened 2/13/12. The battery that failed was unrecognizable but they found several 3.0v (Cr123a) lithium ion batteries and a recharger so it strongly appears the man was using a MOD." If this is accurate information, it should help give peace of mind to some. I am by no means an expert in batteries or battery safety, but I am certainly comfortable continuing to use both my Egos and my Provari without fear. After all, there is almost a certainty that analogs would have eventually killed me and if there is a one in a million chance of injury using my Ecig, it is a risk I happily take. I agree with a poster on another thread that a negative incident such as this could 'undo' a lot of the positive steps the ecig industry and vapers in general have been doing at bringing vaping closer to public acceptance. I have had several friends ask me about the story and have shared that anytime a battery is used, there is a potential danger, but that I personally know over 100 vapers who have been vaping for a long time and never know of a similar accident. I hope that accurate information will be collected and shared as time goes on, but I am highly doubtful that this will come from the 'sound byte media' as they will likely only look at this as another opportunity to slam Ecigs without concrete information to back it up....surprise, surprise. Lastly, my thoughts and prayers go out to Tom and his family and i wish him a speedy and complete recovery.

I just got my first mod for Christmas. Asked for and received a bunch of visa gift cards and went all the way and bought a provari! Vaping will never be the same! I thought about the lava tube due to the lower cost, but a month or two ago, there was still not a lot of feedback out there about them so i figured just go with the Provari. Can't say I regret my choice. Without question, different juices taste much better at different voltages and I love not having to switch atties or cartos with different ohms around to try those different flavors. A few quick clicks and i can adjust to wherever I want to be. One other thing i have noticed is that i seemed to burn through LR atties and cartos really fast (i guess since they were running so hot?) since i have switched to the provari and am able to adjust the voltage on the standard resistance stuff, i have yet to go kill an atty or carto (knock on wood). I have now happily just surpassed the one year mark for being analog free.....so maybe i will pick up a lavatube clone as a celabratory gift ....after all, at that price, a 'backup' would be nice. Can someone enlighten me if the lavatube clones hold an 18650 battery? The only 'complaint' i have about the Provari is that its standard battery is an 18490 that is only 1100mah. With vaping at higher voltages (and as much as i vape) I find that this only lasts me about 3/4 of a day. I know i can buy the extension to the Provari to allow for the 18650's but the thing is a bit large as it is, and another 1/2 inch would make it even more awkward in my shirt pocket. I would really like the 2200mah of the 18650.....see how we justify buying new stuff to ourselves? Even after I said...'Might as well buy the Provari...then you will never need another mod'.....ahh vaping!

Now that the summer has come to a close, i can say that i have vaped at many amusement parks with little or no hassle whatsoever. I vaped walking through the park, standing in line, and even on a ride or two! I have been to Seaworld, Kennedy Space Center, Magic Kingdom, Animal Kingdom, Epcot, Hersheypark, and Hollywood Studios. Got a couple odd looks in line, but was only approached by staff twice...both times in Seaworld. The employees politely said there was no smoking in the park, but when i showed them my Ego, they said 'No problem'. I was even able to share info about ecigs with 2 other people who seemed interested.

Been vaping for almost 9 months now and so very happy about it! Using an Ego 900mah with a 1.5 LR atty and I am a direct dripper all the way! I spent the last week in Orlando with my family....vaping all the way! I vaped in the airports, on the plane (stealth), all the way through Seaworld, Kennedy Space Center, and all of the Disney parks. I vaped walking through the crowds, standing in lines, in restaurants, and even on the occassional ride! (Its a small world after all!...lol) I was only 'confronted' twice, both times in Seaworld where employess said 'Excuse me sir, the park is non smoking.' and as soon as i showed them my Ego, they said 'Oh, that's okay'. I handed out two of my homemade cards with information and websites to smokers who were interested. I was never overly blatant, blowing big clouds, but nor was I total stealth, I would say i was 'discreet'. All in all, it was a very encouraging trip! I returned to Harrisburg airport and was waiting for the shuttle to the off site parking when i bumped into a flight crew waiting for a cab. The co-pilot lit a cigarrette, and the Captain whipped out an Ego T-tank and started vaping away! I was so excited to see my first Vaper in 'the wild'. He explained he had been vaping for about 20 months and that 'a lot' of the flight crews have taken up vaping so they can vape in the cockpit! It was a very fun family trip as well as encouraging to me as a vaper! It really made up for the fact that the trip fell over Vapercon weekend. Those of you that went please post some stories about your trip!

Don't know the appropriateness of linking other sites for supplies....with the vaportalkstore and all, but I am sure the mods will kill it if need be. Super T Manufacturing (makers of the Precise) have a Joye Ego Starter kit on their site for $34.99...which i think is an incredible price. http://www.supertmanufacturing.com/id82.html Personally, I usually buy my batteries and atomizers at Liberty Flights because i have found NO ONE else that offers a 2 month warranty on batteries and a 30 day warranty on atomizers (SR only). Just my $.02

South Central Pa - Vape Meet-Up

I will be bringing a brand new vaper to the meet on Saturday. She is also in a little tough financial position at the moment, so i will be giving her my old Smoke 51 setup to get her started, but if anyone has any "retired" equiptment that they are no longer using and would be willing to donate, it would be appreciated. If i can get her a 510 set up of some kind...i can hook her up with atties, cartos, juice and all the goodies, but i dont have a 510 battery/charger of any kind that i can spare at the moment. Thanks, Dave -
Have yet to be in an amusement park but going to Hersheypark next weekend and will see. Just spent the last weekend in NYC and have been doing lots of travelling lately with no issues whatsoever. I don't neccessarily stealth vape (generally a nose exhale in public), but i also don't make it a point to blow out big obnoxious clouds of vapor either. So far I have used in the following places quite normally with no issues at all: Amtrak train, boarding areas in 6 major airports, Penn Station, NY taxi cabs, hotel lobby at the Intercontinental in NYC, Broadway theater lobby, minor league baseball games (in the stands), tons of restaurants and bars and even in the local police station! I have yet to be approached and 'reprimanded' (except for the tour guide during an outdoor animal tour at Penns Cave in PA - then when I explained she apologized). Again, I am not blatantly obvious, nor do i really hide the vapor. I think in general people are just not paying attention, nor do they care enough to confront. I love being a vaper and will continue to 'politely' push the envelope (even though it drives my wife nuts!).

I would take Sharon's advice. She is the queen of tank atties!

Personally, I cannot only vape one juice for extended periods. I usually have at least 2, more commonly 3 PVs up and running at once, with a different flavor in each. (At the moment I have one LR atomizer with Top Vapor fried apple, an LR atomizer with COV organic butterscotch and a boge LR cartomizer with Top Vapor Melon Explosion.) I then usually add and subtract a new flavor like once a week By doing things this way, I have a constant variety and if one begins to taste a little 'off', I just switch in another flavor.

First Online Order The Kvs-Go 650Mah Kit From Kalamazoo
PADave replied to cheeple's topic in General Vaping Discussion
That looks really cool.....another 'toy' I'm gonna have to order I guess! -
Don't want to post misinformation here, as throat hit has never been important to me, but doesn't the level of nic in the juice significantly impact the throat hit as well as the device?

Lab Results/ Lipid Panel After 6 Months Vaping
PADave replied to AARONH's topic in Vaping Health & Safety
Interesting! Similar results here: Prior to vaping Cholesterol at 210 now at 170 BP was always ok at 120/80 now running 105/70 Don't know how much of this is directly as a result of vaping, but I'll take it! -
COV organic butterscotch is my current addiction....but too pricey to be my all day vape ($26 for 30ml)

There may yet be a use for those old dead atties. Old Goat Mods have actually posted elsewhere that they are interested in buying old, dead atties. I actually sent him 60 old atties and got a free bottom feeder in return!

I fully endorse liberty flights and I also purchased the Riva starter kit. After approximately 1.5 weeks, both of my Riva batteries inexplicably died on me. Since I was within the two week window, however, I called them about it and they immediately shipped out replacements (and a pre-paid return envelope). Excellent service! I have had the replacements for a little over two months now, and whammo!.....both died at the same time again. I stuck them in the mail since they were still covered by the LF 3 month warranty on batteries. I emailed them to let them know they were on the way and asked how much it would cost to upgrade to Ego batteries due to the problems I seem to be having with the Rivas. Their response was that since this was my second issue, they would send new Ego batteries for no extra charge!! It is hard to find customer service like that anywhere...what a great group.

South Central Pa - Vape Meet-Up
PADave replied to Sharon's topic in Local Vape Meets and Conventions
It was a pleasure to have you (and your wife) there! What an incredibly supportive spouse to endure the trip and all the 'vape-talk' just to be supportive. Hopefully she gives some more thought to joining our legions. Welcome to the group and we hope to see you at future meetups! Dave -
I have two of the ego-t batteries (says it on them) and I am assuming they are 900 or 1000mah (based on the size)and both are behaving oddly and not really working. Starting Sunday, both would constantly be 'on' and providing power to any device as soon as it was attached. Hitting the button 5 times made no difference at all..no lights no nothing. (I even hit it 10 times since someone said that acted as a reset, and nothing.) I put each on the charger for 5 hours or so, and the light never changed to green. Now, one of them does not light when pushed, but when you screw an atty onto it and push the button, it blinks three times, then five. The second one does not light at all, and sometimes when you attach an atty, it automatically fires, and sometimes you have to push the button to make it fire....even when you do that, the light does not come on, and it seems really weak. I don't know what all this means, other than I don't have these batteries available. I think my biggest issue is; What could have caused this? For both to get hosed at the same time, it seems like there has to be a cause. Any ideas? Could a using a low resistance atomizer have done it? Would an atty have to be defective to screw up a battery? I am afraid a dual coil cartomizer was the culprit, and the worst part is not knowing what was happening, I used it on my backup riva battery and it is history too! Unfortunately I have bought some analogs now until I can get to a vendor in York on Tuesday to buy some new batteries. I am interested if anyone has any experience with issues such as this and can give me guidance as to what I did wrong, or how to avoid such a meltdown in the future.

Noobie Looking To Spice Things Up - Help
PADave replied to Cowgirl33's topic in General Vaping Discussion
The post above is for the eGo LR tank atty. If I read above, you use the 510T on a standard 510 battery, is that correct? If that is the case, I found two links (below) that sell the LR 510T atomizer, but one says not to use with the standard 510 battery, so be careful. I think it is probably because the standard 510 have such limited life that an LR atty would kill them quickly. http://www.vaperite.com/store/e-cig-hardwaremods/details/416/510-t-lr-atomizer?pop=0 http://www.ecigsupply.com/Joye-LR-510-T-tank-Atomizer-p507.html As far as what you buy next, tough call. Personally, I purchased 2 ego type kits..one is a Riva 510 (with a 750 mah battery) and the other is the eGo T tank kit with two 900mah batteries. Total investment for the two kits was about $120 and I now have 4 batteries, 2 chargers, two tank atties (standard resistance) and some cartos or cartomizers that came with the Riva (that now sit in the box). I have since purchases LR tank atties which is absolutely my favorite for the tank. I like the fact that I now have 4 batteries and 2 chargers....it makes me more confident that I will never be without a working battery. All systems use the standard 510 connection and can be used with your 510 T tank or any other 510 device. Far be it from me to talk you out of a mod, but this gives me many options for about the same price as a mod, which is my personal preference. (Having said all that, I am currently considering buying a bottom feeder, so the search for new equipment never really ends!) Welcome to your new hobby and congrats on being analog free! -
I keep mine in my travel kit so when someone wants to try my ecig I don't have to worry about the germies!
