Howdy folks...
Just received my eGo from VT today, and tried it out a little bit. I bought the e-cig so I could try to quit analogs, my son and wife think they're neat (wife smokes too, son has been dogging me for years now to give up analogs). I ordered the eGo kit with 16mg of Apple Dapple e-liquid free bottle. However, I've got some Noob questions about this sort of thing, and some first impressions.
First, my background:
Wife and I smoke approx. 1.5 packs a day of Marlboro "golds" (what used to be lights). I've been smoking since I was 17, I'm 38 now, and can barely breathe (another part of why I bought the e-cig) - used to sing opera, can't hold my breath at all now - sucks. What I'm looking for out of an e-cig is the following:
1) Want to maintain the same essential nicotine intake and feeling as now with my analog habit
2) Want to quit inhaling nasties from analogs, and exhaling things that kill my family (and my clothes, hair, etc).
3) Want to be around for the marriage of my son (13 years old), and daughter (she's about 17 months old now), and preferably well past that. The only major vice I have is smoking.
First Impressions:
1) Hits are pretty easy to pull. I thought the manual button magic would be a hassle, but it's pretty much right where I would put my fingers with an analog anyway, so no big deal.
2) Vapor. Brandy new atty, makes decent enough vapor for me I think, although it's pretty low compared to an analog.
3) Flavor. Don't get much flavor (I'm direct dripping, 3 drops per "episode" if you will), and the outgoing smell is minimal (checked with my son, who says there's a little bit of an apple smell, but that's about it) - should there be more?
4) Ease of use. I'm not real fond of having to dump 2-3 drips in the atty every time, but it's not that big a deal.
5) Frequency. I have absolutely NO IDEA how long this one bottle of Apple Dapple will last - need serious help there.
Questions:
1) I don't have a problem with the manual button per se, but I'm wondering, can you direct drip with the eGo automatic, or will it gunk up the works (e.g. the battery?)
2) How can I tell when my atty needs cleaning, or when the atty is running dry? I've pulled lots of hits (with vapor) off the atty after only a 2-3 drip fill, and I want to make sure I don't damage anything in the unit by running it dry. Is lack of vapor output (from my mouth) a good indication that I need to re-fill the atty?
3) Apple Dapple seems nice and smooth, although I've noticed at one time a bitter-ish taste (after a fresh fill and about 7-8 drags) - is this the atty getting dry?
4) Would you all recommend a tank system for someone like me who wants minimal interruptions (my work requires pretty intense concentration)?
5) Any idea when VT will offer a tank system? I'd prefer not to go through 10 other suppliers - if possible - for equipment and juice (privacy, cc info, etc).
6) How long will this bottle of Apple Dapple last me (or any other liquid for that matter?) A general approximation is fine, I just need to know how much "stock" I need to have on hand at any given time to not run out and smoke analogs.
Phew - sorry about that, but I REALLY want to quit, and REALLY have questions that my constantly rampaging brain thinks up. I'm sure I'll have more questions later, but for now, I thank you all in advance for taking the time to respond.
Thanks, and Peace,
Fiberchunks.
