  1. Philip Morris Int. CEO: Cigs not that hard to quit ShareThis PrintE-mail By MICHAEL FELBERBAUM The Associated Press RICHMOND, Va. — The head of cigarette maker Philip Morris International Inc. told a cancer nurse Wednesday that while cigarettes are harmful and addictive, it is not that hard to quit. CEO Louis C. Camilleri's statement was in response to comments at its annual shareholder meeting in New York. Executives from the seller of Marlboro and other brands overseas spent most of the gathering sparring with members of anti-tobacco and other corporate accountability groups. A woman identifying herself as a nurse named Elizabeth from the University of California-San Francisco cited statistics that tobacco use kills more than 400,000 Americans and 5 million people worldwide each year. She also said a patient told her last week that of all the addictions he's beaten — crack, cocaine, meth — cigarettes have been the most difficult. In response, the often-unapologetic Camilleri said: "We take our responsibility very seriously, and I don't think we get enough recognition for the efforts we make to ensure that there is effective worldwide regulation of a product that is harmful and that is addictive. Nevertheless, whilst it is addictive, it is not that hard to quit. ... There are more previous smokers in America today than current smokers." Camilleri himself is a smoker. An April 2009 BusinessWeek article quoted him as saying he had quit only once, for three months when he had a cold. Following Wednesday's meeting, the company reiterated its position that "tobacco products are addictive and harmful." Matthew Myers, president of the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids said the comments represent the "most irresponsible form of corporate double-speak." "Study after study has documented the powerful addiction to cigarettes is one of the most difficult to overcome of any drug anywhere in the world," Myers said. "It is stunning in the face of overwhelming science for the leader of the world's largest private tobacco company to deny how difficult and addictive cigarettes are." Morningstar analyst Philip Gorham said addictiveness is why tobacco is such a profitable business. "It's in the interest of executives to give the impression that they don't want new smokers to take up smoking, that they believe that people who do, can quit, but the statistics tell another story," Gorham said. "I would prefer to see executives focus on what they have done to help smokers quit." During the meeting, Camilleri also discussed the challenges facing the tobacco industry like tax hikes and regulation, including bans on product displays, ingredients and colorful packaging. He said some of these restrictions impede competition, add costs for retailers, encourage adult smokers to make choices purely on price and foster black markets. He also said Philip Morris International has successfully managed regulation in the past such as public smoking restrictions, marketing constraints and graphic warning labels. "In fact, we have largely supported these measures within the framework of comprehensive, effective, and uniform tobacco regulation," Camilleri said. "We do not, however, support regulation that prevents adults from buying and using tobacco products, or that imposes unnecessary impediments to the operation of the legitimate tobacco market." Last year, Philip Morris International saw its profit grow 14.5 percent as its net revenue excluding excise taxes rose 8.7 percent. The company has raised prices and focused on emerging markets for growth as cigarette demand falls. Philip Morris International, with offices in New York and Lausanne, Switzerland, was spun off from Richmond, Va.-based Altria in March 2008. Altria still sells Marlboro and other Philip Morris brands in the U.S. Philip Morris International is the world's largest non-governmental cigarette seller, smaller only than state-controlled China National Tobacco Corp. ___ Michael Felberbaum can be reached at http://www.twitter.com/MLFelberbaum ___ May 11, 2011 01:21 PM EDT Copyright 2011, The Associated Press. 2. D, have you gone to the DR? If you haven't, it might be time. I'm sorry your still having these problems, I hope you can figure it out soon. Thank you for keeping us updated and feel better!
  3. I agree with Cheshly, an eGo will give you reliable long battery life. I can't say what will make your juice last longer attys or cartos. Just make sure you have enough higher nic to get you over the bump. I often vape plain juice too. I like it sometimes to rest my taste buds. Good luck
  4. Hi and welcome to VT, everyone has given you excellent advice. My 2cents, don't put too much pressure on yourself and enjoy the journey.
  5. I have never heard of that. Could your batteries be the 5 click protected kind? Try clicking your eGo buttons 5 times really fast. and check back.
  6. Sorry you had such bad luck. Looking at their product, it just looks like junk to me. Very similar to green smoke. If your really interested in a good PV check out a 510 or an eGo. They are simply good products. The vendors listed on the forum are KNOWN honest and reputable companies. I hope you don't give up on vaping just yet. Good luck
  7. Emile, you can't use LR on 5 or 6V it frys the attys/cartos. LR's are GREAT on 3.7- at least 4.2 that I know. Someone can explain it I'm sure.
  8. You can vape too much nic. Typically if I do this I give myself a headache and sore throat, that lasts as long as Im chain vaping. As soon as I start drinking water and put down my PV it goes away. I suppose everyone can different reactions, but yours sounds to me like they could be withdrawal symptoms. They can leave you feeling pretty nasty and very off. Keep drinking lots of water and you can try to back off the PV a bit. Remember you have been hooked on all the nasty drugs the big T companies have been adding to your cigs for many many years, not just the nic. I found that was the worst part of getting off of cigs for me. Not at all the nic addiction. I hope you star feeling better soon and if you have more concerns ask away. BTW your doing really well! Congrats.
  9. Welcome to VT, I think a 510 would be a good start for you. Their well made and people seem to really like them. The batt life is short, but it doesn't seem like you would be vaping like crazy anyways. Good luck and welcome.
  10. That's reallygood advice. I started warming mine ever so slightly to mix and or after I have received a new shipment. Being so cold this year I noticed the juices seem to separate quite a bit or tastes not quite right when cold. IMHO.
  11. Lovie IMHO Grandmas love is the greatest! Mine was Memaw, I took care of her till she passed of Lung Cancer. I still miss her every day even after 15 years. How cool about your family that's great history. Spokane is nice I've been calling it home for about seven years now. Oh come on just do it. I know you want to. I'm very happy with my new toy. I bet you really like it. Shipping time was excellent too.
  12. lovie, I swear it's soo good. I bet you would love it too. I'm using Boge standard cartos. I read where people were having problems with the connection, but I have not had any of those issues. The other key point is it has a great drip well so you get no icky stickys running down your PV and the air flow is just wonderful.
  13. Hi and congrats on the quit. I don't own a 510 but I will still see if I can help anyways. 1) Are you replacing the filler in the carts, it's meant to be replaced, and they really don't hold much juice anyways. My advice is buy cartomizers. They hold much more liquid and still have great flavor. The Boge 2.0 ohm cartomizers are fantastic on the eGo. 2) Yes the battery life is much much much better on the eGo and if you really need xxx long life you can get a 1100mah battery. 3) Again cartomizers hold around 1 ml juice and their xxx large cartos too getting around 2 mls. Go for the eGo, your 510 stuff will still work and you have many more options to try. I think you would really like cartomizers as well. I also suggest getting some 510 drip tips. They work on attys and cartomizers too. Good luck
  14. reporting back....I just received my infinity with 3 sets of batts. Lucky me one is fully charged. OMG vaping at 5.5 thinking I really do need a 6 V now lol. I am in love. This puppy is just a rocking let me tell you. Tons of vapor, flavor and the right amount of TH. Not at all as big as I thought it would be. Literally a drip tip difference in length than my 1100mah eGo batt (both of course are fully dressed) The diameter is slightly bigger but not much. The "Blemsh" Crappy....I don't know what, it's not powder coat, maybe some kind of anodizing. Yes I think that's what it is. I'm going to have to decorate it myself.. Luckily I can probably get some powder coating and or something similar done for free. I have those powers lol. I would have liked a better button and VV dial, the new version coming soon will address those things or so I hear. But my new infinity is working exactly how I had hoped it would.
  15. Isn't that the best! I finally went back to the terrible juice stash I had and was able to save 15 out of 20 yucky juices I had.
  16. Oh no, you haven't put in enough juice lol. I suggest using the condom method when filling for the first time "every time" The condom is the rubber clear end pieces that are protecting your new cartos. Take the smallest one and fill with juice 1/2 way, then take your Carto thread side first and slowly slideback into the condom. You should be able to see the juice come up from the center hole. Once the Carto looks like a slurpy inside let sit for 30 minutes. Look again and top off if needed. Now your ready to use your new cartos. I have also found taking 4 or 5 short puffs helps prime it. It should be ready to rock and roll. Remember a new Carto may take as much as 30 drops to be properly primed.
  17. ARRGG, I have reply 3 times now. Welcome Joker, T gave good advice. The eGo is a fantastic start. I would suggest ordering 1 box of cartomizers, 510 Atty, a drip tip as welll. That way you have more options to try. Good luck!
  18. Thomas, on 01 May 2011 - 04:59 PM, said: i was looking at ###### becuase they have a nice selection of E-cigs and Juice. anyone have any experiance with there site and know if they are trusted or not? I think if your getting the ######## it means NO their not trusted in fact they are banned from mentioning. I do know who they are though. They have terrible customer service, sent me attys that were DOA and would not answers my emails or calls. Never made it right. Don't bother from them. Good luck custom blend means PG and VG mixed and VG base is VG Hi, I left this on your other post in case you missed it.
  19. :animier: Oh Hurry, you just made my day lol. Congrats and as I've said before, it really will get easier now.
  20. THANK GOD! Good riddance evil man
  21. Beans

    Epower

you must give a review latter! I've been wondering about those.
  22. Haha that's not stupid at all. Really I don't know. I think it's fine just the way it is. No one here is going to judge your habit or condem you. BUT if they do, you just send them over my way. I'll use my ninja skills on them
  23. I started changing Carto flavors by vaping a plain 10 nic PG juice after a flavor I no longer wanted to use. I usually can get most of the old flavor out that way. I even discovered that I like plain juice, It gives my taste buds a much needed break come mid day. The PG Juice also cleans the cartos quite nicely since some of my favorite juices are VG which seems to gunk up my Cartos prematurely, so I'm actually getting 4 or 5 good days with 1 Carto now. Sorry, I thought he meant cartos not carts. My bad...but still works well....
