  1. ROFL!!!!!! I love that emoticon....tooooooooo funny, you are cracking me up...or should I say crackling me up...I know, bad one, LOL
  2. Did you use the kits? Did the cartos or carts all work on each of the batteries, or did you use a different kind of top/carto/cart on each kits' batteries? I am just curious if you bought three TOTALLY different kits/devices, or were they just from three different vendors. There are many vendors whose parts are all interchangeable because they are all the same devices, just marketed by different people. BUT there are also many different kinds of batteries that are completely different devices. Did that make sense?????? I am starting to confuse myself...hope I didn't confuse you. Are there any markings on the batteries? Like batteries fro vapor 4 Life often have the V4L logo on them...smoketip has their logo on them, etc. BUT those two devices are both KR808's....so that may help narrow things down a bit too.
  3. teeheehee...tell my husband that, would ya??? LOL!!!
  4. I know people online who only use vaping for public too, to be able to use vaping where they can't smoke, which that was never my intention....I wasn't trying to find a way to get around smoking laws. If I couldn't vape where I can't smoke I would be fine with that too. I don't have any plans of going down to 0 nic either. I am using 18 mg. Down the road I might reduce it for some reason or other, but that isn't any current goal or anything. I agree with Nina/Beans, just depends on why the person is vaping, and what their own personal goals are.
  5. Well you can always research things on your own, bookmark the sites and then when she bombards you, you can show her what you have found. At 17 at least she is plenty old enough to understand the simplicity of the fact that it is already MUCH safer than filling your lungs and airways with smoke, never mind anyone who happens to be around at the time. You can find tons of info of the comparison between nicotine and caffeine, they pretty much are the same type of stimulant. You could also point out that nicotine is not ALL bad....it is being studied and used in alzheimer's and parkinson's patients because it has been found to lessen the impairment on cognitive functions....you can google "parkinson's disease and nicotine"...same with alzheimer's. Nicotine isn't really the problem...it is the smoking it in tobacco form that is the problem....because of the over 4000 chemicals of which over 40 are known to cause cancer and there are just flat out poisons in cigs. The nicotine in cigarettes isn't even what really makes them dangerous. I found an interesting article last night, about nicotine and caffeine,....that they work on the same centers in the brain and if caffeine were smoked and nicotine was served in shops everywhere in a cup everyone would be screaming about caffeine...that it is about social norms etc. It was actually a pretty interesting article. Anyway, until you are ready to tell her, you can be gathering info to answer her questions....then if she were to find out accidentally you would be prepared too.
  6. everything online says that EVEN when the batteries say they come fully charged from the factory....this applies to ALL li ion batts, cameras, cells, etc....to ALWAYS charge for 8 hours anyway. To not to supposedly ruins battery life or the ability to hold a charge or something. But any battery I have ever read about as far as the li ion says to charge them for at least 8 hours, no matter what the individual device says. A lot of people say it is BS, and vendors will say it is bs, but then a vendor you can't really trust as far as that because it is better for them if you do ruin the battery life. SO I never know what to believe....I err on the side of caution and charge the stupid things to be sure, LOL. Doesn't make much sense if something will normally charge in 2 hours that it would need to be charged for 8 hours before the first use, but what do I know????
  7. I put cart condoms on them after filling them and they are used within a week to ten days....You figure when you buy prefilled ones they are probably filled months ahead of when you actually get them, let alone vape them. As far as the nicotine thing, does your daughter drink coffee or pop or anything with sugar or eat junk food? Because all those things will cause at least as much harm as using nicotine. Caffeine affects the brain and body in almost the exact same way as nicotine and people give cola, iced tea, and all kinds of stuff like that to really young kids. Most teens drink coffee, even if it is a frappucino at Starbuck's still has caffeine. The problem with smoking is that cigs contain poison and known carcinogens. Never mind the smoke itself creating all kinds of problems. I don't conceal anything from my kids. Like any kids my kids begged me to stop smoking, didn't want me to die, etc. They saw me try many times, using many things, including being prayed over and every pill, gum, lozenge, patch, acupuncture, hypnosis, etc. It would last for awhile, sometimes as long as 23 mos but I would be crawling the walls the entire time. They would be practically begging me to start smoking again because I was a flat out nervous wreck. It was the actual act of smoking that was my problem. I would get way past the point where the nicotine was any issue. My kids are 27, 19, 13 and 12 and they are THRILLED that we are vaping. We have explained to them precisely what it is, they have read all about it, etc. As far as God forgiving you, if you truly asked for forgiveness, then you know God forgives you. Plus it is not a sin against the soul, it is a sin against the flesh...not the sort of sin that gets you to hell. The only thing smoking would get anyone is to an early grave, but it is still not a sin that would send anyone to hell. God forgives our weakness...if we were all perfect and lived perfect lives we wouldn't need God in the first place. The only thing I pray is that I didn't smoke so much, for so long that in years from now I will end up with cancer or some other devastating effect from it anyway. I thank God for this existing, for technology getting to the point that this exists and I no longer feel ANY desire to smoke whatsoever. Anyway, I actually have some cartos that I filled months ago after washing them that I then filled with liquid I no longer like, all sealed up with the condoms. My husband is vaping them now and they are totally fine. I imagine if you left them long enough there could be some minor drying out, but those condoms are on there so snugly, I don't think it could be very much. Actually a couple that I apparently overfilled are still overfilled because he has gotten a mouthful of liquid, LOL. I don't know how long it would take because apparently we haven't gotten to that amount of time yet.
  8. I would tend to agree....seems like an issue with the charger. But if the charger was working perfectly fine, and then suddenly wasn't, maybe something got touched or is out of proper adjustment. I have had issues with my li ion camera battery charger too.....when I first got it, the way the contacts are, the battery fit in pretty tight. Then after a few uses the battery wasn't as tight. I was using it in a wall outlet no problem, now i have to use it on a power strip on the floor...it doesn't make proper contact when in a vertical position on the wall, but works fine horizontally on the floor. Some of this kind of stuff is really touchy. I wouldn't think batteries would "go bad" in such a short time, but the charger is another story. But I would try it in different positions and fiddle with it a bit before concluding that it is bad.
  9. Oh and no, I haven't cut down to 0 nic nor am I really planning to. According to the little info out there by vaping you get far less nicotine than smoking, so I have likely already cut down on my intake. Some articles have gone so far as to say that vaping is the same as sucking on an unlit cigarette as far as nicotine. http://blogs.courierpostonline.com/ashhole/2010/02/13/electronic-cigs-dont-deliver-study-says/
  10. I live in a south suburb of Chicago...I was THRILLED with the blizzard, been waiting TWELVE years for one. All the snow we have had for years has been wimpy. I love the winter and I love snow. I would never want to live in a place without any. Best part of winter is the snow. It was so awesome, Tuesday night with the wind howling....snow blowing so hard we literally couldn't see the house across the street. Now the piles of it everywhere, it is great. We already had a lot of salt, so Wednesday morning the 3 kids were out shoveling, hubby spread salt and now our walk and driveway are mostly snow/ice free, all dry. It was nice having the kids home two days and my husband home on Wednesday. We were prepared and it was actually very fun!
  11. exactly how I feel. I was at a get together at an old high school friend's house in August and she smoked. A few of us were in a pool swimming and she was smoking and so was the other person and so I did smoke a cig or two. ONLY because I wasn't going to bring my batteries in the pool and risk ruining them. The first few drags of the cig tasted nasty, but I got used to it, just like the dozen times I quit and started again. But I do NOT consider that ONE time smoking one, possibly two cigs worth, "smoking". I didn't actually have my own cig....just kept taking drags of theirs. For all I know it was really only 1/2 a cig worth. But regardless I have avoided THOUSANDS of cigs so really, I don't feel bad. When we were out of the pool I vaped. I totally agree, ANY cig avoided, let alone thousands is a great thing!!

I have a small netbook mouse but it would be too big to comfortably hold to vape with. I had one before this one....broke in a couple months...the left click button like jammed down...the spring under it must have broken. I think these things are built too flimsy to use as any kind of reliable vaping item. Not unless the entire thing was gutted and you didn't actually use the buttons for actual controls for vaping. The wheel might be okay, except that they spin too freely. I guess maybe that could be adjusted. I mean you wouldn't want the voltage changing every time you just happened to touch the wheel. It is a cool looking mouse, never held it in real life, but just judging from the one I have which is ergo in it's normal position, but very awkward to hold if I was vaping on it. A wii controller I can see because it is made to be held a lot. I can't wait for my Jolly wetbox.....I am getting excited!!!!
  13. try googling it.....I am sure you will get answers from various forums. I have no idea as I use only cartos
  14. My husband had no problem just switching, but he only smoked 1/2 pack a day. I on the other hand took a few days to switch. I smoked 2-3ppd and especially in the morning, the vaping just DID NOT cut it. I would vape AND smoke at the same time. Like literally be smoking a cig and vape between drags....I just needed/wanted WAY more nicotine faster than an e cig can deliver it. I use 18 mg, and thought for morning I could switch to something higher, but like 24 KILLED my throat...didn't matter if it was pg or vg, it just really made my throat feel raw...even drinking tons of liquid. I figured EVEN IF I had continued smoking say even 1/2 pack a day, it was STILL getting rid of FORTY cigarettes a day. However, after a couple days I just FORCED myself to stop smoking. I just vaped in the morning like continuously for an hour. Then after a couple weeks I guess I just adjusted to it. Haven't smoked since. But I personally think it doesn't matter, whatever works best for the individual. Any time vaping and the cigs it eliminates is a great thing. So even 3-5 a day, that is nothing, no big deal at all. I bet he will give them up eventually. I did mostly because vaping tasted so much better. It just takes awhile for some people to adjust....and really, even if I had a real cig every morning for the rest of my life, cutting out the bulk of them is still a great thing. I don't smoke at all anymore though and I am REALLY happy about that. I smoked 30 yrs, and I NEVER EVER thought I would quit. I had used everything in the past, prescriptions, patches, lozenges, gum, cold turkey, you name it, and every time I knew I would smoke again. Now I know I will never smoke again...not so long as e cig are available. IF they banned them, I can't honestly say, I would hope I wouldn't smoke again, but I probably would.
  15. Well, they may not find value in it, but I sure do, my husband too. That is all we use, cartos. I refill literally dozens at a time....I have a case and always have a bunch with me, so I just swap them out, and then refill them later. Not as I am using them. I wouldn't do that for the same reason I wouldn't want to direct drip...just too much fiddling around. But to each his own, I guess if you aren't like working with your hands or typing or something you could just drip all the time. I haven't used the mega cartos, but I sure would, I would imagine they are the same as normal ones, only bigger. I am getting a custom made wetbox which will be nice since you have the carto on and feed the juice up from the bottom, so I won't have to take the cap off and refill it and all that. Maybe your husband would like something like that? Jolly is making mine...it will be variable voltage with two rechargeable cr123 batts, so it should easily last a couple days, or for my insane habit all day, LOL. Mine will have a KR808 fitting because I have hundreds of those cartos, but of course it could be made with any fitting. I too get tired of refilling cartos, so I thought this was a PERFECT solution. So maybe that is something he would want to consider? My husband likes the cartos because he vapes tons of different flavors, so he doesn't mind at all when one runs dry switching because he will usually switch to another flavor. I mostly vape the same flavor, maybe 2 or 3 at most, so I love the idea of having a 6ml or 10ml bottle and vaping that till the liquid is gone. Then I can refill it, either with the same stuff or different. I guess it just depends on your habits. But as far as a larger carto or cart, I would assume they would work the same, only hold more fluid.
  16. Have you tried fitting different kinds of carts and cartos on them? A KR808D-1 is a male battery....would be easy to check by trying a KR808 carto on it. But I know there are numerous other batteries also male, but the male part is a smaller diameter and/or threads are different. So it could be a number of batteries...on a KR808 the thread part is RIGHT inside the diameter of the battery....like it is just barely narrower than the battery itself. I know on others we have seen...other types of batteries that look the same in every other way, that connection is MUCH narrower. Don't know what style those are. Anyway, don't know if that helps.
  17. There is PG in tobacco products anyway. PG is in tons and tons of products. I never heard the FDA say anything about the PG in particular being a problem in e cigs. If you go on the FDA website THEY claim PG is a benign, water soluble safe compound. It is in nasal sprays, baby wipes, pharmaceuticals and all kinds of things we are in normal day to day contact with because THEY deemed it safe decades ago. Of course NONE of the banning has ANYTHING to do with safety anyway. If it did they would be trying to ban MUCH more dangerous things that they regulate. I think addressing letters to them from the safety standpoint is just a waste of time....THEY KNOW IT ISN"T DANGEROUS.....THEY need to know that WE KNOW what this is really about...namely that the tobacco and pharmaceutical companies are being permitted to manipulate government and laws to protect THEIR interests. Maybe if the election process was overhauled, and these jerkwads didn't try to outdo each other with multi million dollar campaigns this stuff would change. But these politicians are forced to OWE their contributors...the more money an entity has, with the more people involved to contribute end up being the entities owed. NO secret that the tobacco giants and pharma giants are the ones calling the shots. Has nothing to do with safety. The stuff I have seen was more along the lines of that they claim that we don't know WHAT ELSE might be in the e liquid, other than the things listed. And even when you mix it yourself, the nic liquid from china could be pesticide grade rather than pharmaceutical grade....then one item tested had diethylene glycol in it....granted trace amounts, but in there. And that is how they are saying that it is a safety issue. Which of course is still TOTALLY idiotic given that cigarettes have dozens of known carcinogens and poisons in them. So EVEN IF e cigs had one or two not so great things, that still beats the hell out of dozens of flat out dangerous stuff, along with the other 4000 less dangerous and some harmless stuff. The whole "safety/health" argument promoted by them is laughable.....look how many medications have been approved as "safe" with their blessing....and then later are taken off the market after they kill people, or cause hideous birth defects, etc. I think the point is WE ARE ADULTS....we should be allowed to make our OWN decisions for our OWN health and safety. The argument about being marketed to chilcren...stupid too....children don't have credit cards UNLESS PARENTS give them to them, in which case THOSE parents, as adults, need to be held accountable.
  18. I saw that when I originally started vaping, but I don't like all that added thickness from the carto condom. I fill like 50+ cartos at a time, or when I am just adding to a carto, I just take off the cap with a toothpick lay it on a napkin....still on the toothpick then stick it back on....leaving it on the toothpick makes it easier to pick back up. I have to say, I have never lost a cap, but I only take it off to fill and then put it right back on. When I am filling a lot at a time, I have the caps off like ten of them, laying on a napkin and stick them on as I fill one by one and stick on cart condoms. When I wash the caps, I wash them inside an old prescription pill bottle...put caps in, hot water about 3/4, a drop of dish soap and then the lid and swish around. After the water cools, I carefully pour them out into my hand, then run cool water through my hand with caps in it and rinse them off, dry them, and put them into a dry pill container. I keep almost ANY plastic container, because they come in so useful. As I take off cart condoms, I put them into one of those plastic Hillshire Farms containers, that their lunchmeat comes in...perfect. Old pill bottles, vitamin bottles are perfect for the caps....OR the little plastic Gerber baby food containers.....perfect size for lots of caps. When I do the whole boiling/soaking in everclear/boiling process with like 50 cartos, then I wash the caps and keep the caps in a container until I then fill the cartos when they are dry. One time I did drop a cap onto the floor and while my daughter was looking for it, I just vaped with no cap at all. As long as the carto isn't overfilled that works fine too. I rather that than the bulk of the condom on it, it just feels so big on my lips. But hey, whatever works for someone is great.
  19. I make sure my carto IS making a crackling noise before I start vaping, otherwise it is sorta cool and I don't care for cool vapor. The crackling is just the wire in the filler heating up the liquid and it makes little bubbles that basically pop and snap against the filler. If you take the top cap off the carto and have the filler nice and soggy wet you can actually see it. It isn't boiling since it takes a lower temp for the liquid to make the bubbles, but that is sorta what I would compare it to. Just the liquid heating in the filler, that's all. No worries. Actually when that sound stops, and you put it up to your ear and is really faint, THAT is when I either change cartos OR add more liquid, because it is getting close to drying out.
  20. NOTHING like great customer service. The blizzard here is awesome. The kids are off school again tomorrow, which of course they are thrilled about. They have never had a snow/bad weather day. The blizzard of 99 they are too young to remember....my youngest was 2 weeks old and the other was only 16 mos old. My son kind of remembers it, my oldest with fond memories sledding, LOL. LOVE the snow. We have some drifts four feet high!!! Oh, I am outside Chicago....LOVE snow!!
  21. Welcome! The spending does level off once you figure out your vaping habits, what works for you....figure out what kinds of flavors you like etc. My husband and I calculated this whole thing out. In the first several months we had spent WAY more than we would have smoking for that time, HOWEVER, then it dropped off dramatically as we weren't buying new hardware all the time, just the liquid since we were cleaning our cartos. So we have spent about 60-65% less than smoking overall. But even if it cost the same, we would do it, for us it was about the health aspect, not the money....that was just a bonus. Have fun playing with your new toys.....and feeling healthier! I smoked 2-3 ppd for 30 years, and have NO desire to ever smoke again!! It does take some getting used to, it is different than smoking, so be patient!
  22. I don't think anyone has ever had a problem with PG, at least not that I have seen....the FDA itself deems that safe after many decades of use in various applications. I think THEIR "claim" is that in the samples they tested they found ONE that contained trace amounts (or I believe they used the term "detectable level") of diethylene glycol and that they say makes them question the safety of ALL the different e liquid because there are so many sources of it. So THEY SAY that they should ALL be banned until thoroughly studied blah blah blah. Of course that is all nonsense anyway, because they allow cigarettes to be sold with over 4000 chemicals of which over 50 are known carcinogens and poisons, SO EVEN IF there were trace amounts of ANYTHING in ANY sample, that would still be MUCH MUCH safer than smoking cigarettes. I would also LOVE for them to REALLY put this crap into context.....for instance, take an air sample on a street in traffic or in a walmart parking lot for instance, and compare what is being vaped in an e cig to THAT. OR hell, take a sample of air after someone has just cleaned with bleach or worse yet ammonia....like compare it to things we subject ourselves and children to ALL the time....maybe a carpet that has been cleaned and then we allow a baby to crawl on when it is dry. We are filling our bodies with chemicals ALL day every day, so let's have vaping compared to THOSE things, which are PERFECTLY acceptable to most people so we can put this is in a context that EVERYONE, non smoker, smoker, vaper, EVERYONE can TRULY understand. But as far as the PG, I don't think I have ever heard anyone question the safety of that, I mean, that has been well established as a relatively safe compound...unless of course you are allergic to it, but that is another matter. Although I don't know if I have heard of many people who are TRULY allergic to PG, maybe have a sensitivity to it when they aren't used to it, etc. But I don't think I have heard of anyone actually having an actual allergic reaction just to the PG, but of course anything is possible....but I think it is safe to conclude from our vast exposure to it, that most of us are fine with it. This is from wikipedia........ Propylene glycol is used: * As a solvent in many pharmaceuticals, including oral, injectable and topical formulations. Notably, diazepam, which is insoluble in water, uses propylene glycol as its solvent in its clinical, injectable form.[5] * As a humectant food additive, labeled as E number E1520 * As an emulsification agent in Angostura and orange bitters * As a moisturizer in medicines, cosmetics, food, toothpaste, shampoo, mouth wash, hair care and tobacco products * As a carrier in fragrance oils * As an ingredient in massage oils * In hand sanitizers, antibacterial lotions, and saline solutions * In smoke machines to make artificial smoke for use in firefighters' training and theatrical productions * In electronic cigarettes, as a vaporizable base for diluting the nicotine liquid * As a solvent for food colors and flavorings * As an ingredient, along with wax and gelatin, in the production of paintballs * As a moisture stabilizer (humectant) for snus (Swedish style snuff). * As a cooling agent for beer and wine glycol jacketed fermentation tanks * As a non-toxic antifreeze for winterizing drinking water systems, and in applications where the used antifreeze eventually will be drained into the soil, water, or a septic system.[6] * As a less-toxic antifreeze in solar water heating systems * As a solvent used in mixing photographic chemicals, such as film developers * In cryonics * As a working fluid in hydraulic presses * As a coolant in liquid cooling systems * To regulate humidity in a cigar humidor * As the killing and preserving agent in pitfall traps, usually used to capture ground beetles * As an additive to pipe tobacco to prevent dehydration. * To treat livestock ketosis * As the main ingredient in deodorant sticks. * To de-ice aircraft.[7] * As an ingredient in UV or blacklight tattoo ink * As a lubricant in air conditioning compressors. * As a wetting agent, used to determine drying time in paints and coatigs
  23. I agree, we basically use our replaced devices AS backups, LOL. Like we have 15 stick style batts, all different sizes from diff places.....6 of those were what I was using before I got my 750mah batts. Then 4 are what my husband is using and the other 5 are regular length that just don't hold a charge long enough. HOWEVER in a bind they work fine, so of course if we HAD to we would use them. Once I get my jolly wetbox, then I will use that mainly and my PT when on the computer....and the 750's for out in public. Oh and I am getting a 1300mah battery, just for extra good measure. My husband will still have all those stick type batts, he likes them for at work, plus he is a light vaper....and he will use his wii mod. Of course we will have two sets of batts for our mods, plus I will get a third set after a few months to be prepared for battery death. I don't think there is a such thing as too many back ups....is there????? And of course back ups for back ups. Or at least back ups when the back ups are no longer back ups.
  24. I have never had that either, but I never had a sore in my mouth in my life EXCEPT when I had braces as a teen. I would DEFINITELY switch to a different company's liquid. I have been vaping almost a year, my husband has too, and neither of us has had any problem, really in any way at all. But I would think it is the liquid, not really the vaping. Just out of curiosity are you buying premixed type e liquid or custom mixed or what? We have had both and not had a problem with either, but I would be more leery of the premixed variety from china, with the flavorings from china, but that is only because they have such a bad track record when it comes to that kind of stuff. On the other hand, if you have gotten juice in your mouth, it could be the nicotine, which would be more of a burn type thing than a genuine cankor sore. OR it could be the level of nicotine too....if changing liquid doesn't have any effect, then I would lower the nic level too. Have you tried Camphophenique? That used to work wonders when I had braces. It is an over the counter cankor sore med. Works on any type of oral wound sort of thing like that. But i would definitely try using liquids etc from a source that you KNOW is custom mixed PER your order when you order it, not premixed stuff. If you are already doing that then I would try another vendor. Of course ONCE you have the sore, it is hard to tell what is causing it.....because they are hard to get rid of. BUT I would rather have a sore than get lung cancer or emphysema, so I would deal with it, BUT try some over the counter cankor sore med....AND try a lower nic...certainly won't hurt anything. The thing is, you would have to know what liquid you were using WHEN you first got the sore, because if you are switching around between all kinds of vendors that doesn't mean ALL of them are causing it....they are hard to get rid of, so you would REALLY need to know what exactly you were doing when it first appeared. THEN by process of elimination figure it all out. I don't know your vaping habits as far as how many liquids you use and all that.
  25. sounds aweseome.....I am getting the same kind of thing.....only variable voltage with longer lasting batts....but that is because I am a chain vaper, LOL. Mine will be plain black though as I want to decorate it myself....of course in order to custom paint it that means I would have to stop using it temporarily,....will that be possible????? Hmmmmmmm, I guess if it ends up NOT decorated no one will really see it since it will be in my hand permanently, LOL. I can't wait to have mine, especially after reading your review....great job...at making me jealous, LOL...seriously...great job!
