I have never asked for permission....I KNOW I am NOT doing anything wrong. HOWEVER I don't make a big show of it either. I swallow the vapor since there is no real need to exhale it, or blow it toward the ground, and no one usually even notices. The times people have noticed the ONLY times I have been approached was for people to ask if it was "one of those electric/electronic cigarettes". Most people around here know what they are because there are kiosks, usually more than one, of different brands at all the malls, and they have a stand in all the major gas stations of the disposable and/or cheapo variety. I never started vaping in order to be able to vape where I wasn't permitted to smoke so I do not go out of my way to antagonize people. On some message boards I have seen people saying that they purposely blow billowing clouds to get a reaction, which quite frankly I think it ignorant. I have also seen people who vape ONLY in public where they aren't allowed to smoke, and at work, etc....and the rest of the time they smoke regular cigarettes. I don't hide that I vape, but I don't make a production or show out of either. I vape in hospitals even.....the last time was funny because it was while bringing my dad for an angiogram. One of the cardio nurses, who is a smoker was totally interested, and I had to explain all about it....she knew what it was but didn't know anyone who actually used the device. So then several of her co workers who are also smokers came into my dad's room/cubicle to check it out. I thought it was funny....at a hospital. They didn't ask me to not use it or anything...they were totally cool with it, as are my doctors...I vape there too. I haven't had any problems, and why should I ask permission to do something that isn't NOT permitted? I have gotten strange looks but I don't really care about the opinions of complete strangers who I know nothing about. I also get strange looks when I use my handicapped placard and have even had people say things to me, like why am I in a handicapped spot when I am so young. One time my dad was with me and this old man was screaming at me...mind you he couldn't even see my lower body since I was still in my car...he came right up to my window and said I had no business in the spot....so I was saying, "really? call my doctor then" and my dad went totally off and asked the guy if he was some sort of cop or parking monitor and told him to F off and mind his own damn business. The guy looked terrified...it was pretty funny. Anyway, I learned a LONG time ago not to give a crap if people look at me.

I got my elegant easy today....basically a KR808 version of the Ego....I love it as well. Works about the same as my PT did....only I am not tethered to the computer. LOVE that. Maybe I will get more done....maybe.

God, I would be dripping every two minutes, it would be nuts. Thank God for cartos, or China.

Celebrity Spokesperson For E-Cig Industry?
juliery replied to Burn's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
I wonder if he is bringing his used cartos, batteries, etc for proper recycling and disposal, LOL. YEAH RIGHT. I mean he is so green and all, certainly he isn't just tossing his metal cartos into the normal trash. Or the rubber caps, condoms, carts, etc....think he is bringing them somewhere? Maybe he is rinsing out the filler material and then air drying and putting it in with the plastic recycling? Yeah, sure he is....being so interested in the planet and all. Stupid. -

I think he should have just stuck with the wanting to stop smoking angle. Isn't that good enough reason? Oh but it is politically correct to say you are green, I forgot, silly me. -
All the prefilled cartos I have bought have claimed to be the equivelant of anywhere between half a pack or 1.5 packs depending on the vendor. I smoked 2-3 ppd and I vape EASILY 7ish cartos a day...that I have refilled myself. The prefilled I vaped even more of. I think they exaggerate to make it sound like you will save tons of money off the bat, which as far as I have heard you really don't. Not until you start either refilling cartos or direct dripping. We spent a lot of money at the beginning and again are now with ordering better/newer products, mods, etc. But overall we have saved money. Plus we like vaping and we know we aren't killing ourselves.

juliery replied to Burn's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
come on, like he was looking for a way to save the planet. I mean okay, I recycle, etc, but NO, I wasn't looking for a way to get my nic AND be green....I could say I was, but then I would be lying, like he is. I was more looking for a way to NOT die sooner than necessary, and preferably not wasting away with cancer, if I haven't already caused that. -
On the backs of the V4L business cards it states...."The person presenting this card is using a personal vaporizer" aka an e-cigarartte. This e-cigarette is not a traditional cigarette and contains no tobacco, nor does it burn or produce smoke. What you see when the person exhales is vapor, NOT SMOKE, that is made up of approximately 99% water, 1% nicotine and some other flavoring compounds.~Please allow our client to use this e-cigarette in your business establishment as they are NOT subject to ANY STATE or FEDERAL SMOKING bans. These devices are a substitute for smoking analog (traditional cigarettes). If you have other questions regarding our products please contact us with the information on the front of this card. Thank you-The Vapor4Life Team" Now of course in a place of business, that is different, they can make up any rules they want. They could say no using anything in your hands because your hands should be busy working. But of course then they would have to apply that equally and not allow anyone else to do anything else unnecessary with their hands. Probably best to just sneak a drag/puff/whatever, when he isn't looking or around.

I had read pretty much when we started vaping to just get in the habit of wiping off the connection end of the batts each time you change cartos/carts, whatever. Usually there appears to be nothing, but every so often there is a sign of a TINY amount of fluid. Just have gotten in the habit now with no problems. I have never had to actually use a q tip, just like a napkin, kleenex or whatever I got laying around. I just sort of spin the battery against whatever I am cleaning it with, not harshly or anything. But so far so good.

okay, cool, gotta remember to do it for people!!! Thanks -
I imagine that depends where you live. I mean, here they are everywhere as far as being sold. All the major gas stations....including the really big ones right off the highway sell them right by the checkout, like on their own big rack. It would be hard to miss them. BUT it would be nice to have a day come where the smokers will get the odd looks....when the e cigs will be SO common that people will think anyone smoking still is foolish. But for the tobacco industry to take that kind of hit, I don't know. That would seriously affect the economy in areas where tobacco is a big industry/crop. I don't really have any qualms about using mine openly....the ONLY exception is when I am inpatient at the hospital. Just because they don't want you putting ANY chemical that they aren't controlling in your body. I mean, they will happily provide a nicotine patch, but vaping, they don't stop it, but they don't like it. I do what I want, I have no problem asserting myself. Although if I was asked to stop I wouldn't cause a fuss or anything. Stores, malls, restaurants are private property and they have the right to not allow/allow whatever they want. But so far I have had zero problems. Oh, the hospital waiting room and doctor's waiting room I "sneak vape" too.....just don't want people asking me stupid questions. But in the actual exam rooms I openly use it. All my doctors and their nurses know I vape and they all think it is great. The very first time I showed the internist, he did not know what it was, I told him to google electronic cig and when I came back the following month, he had read about them and was TOTALLY cool about it and has been ever since. My other doctors were totally fine with it too. I am glad at least we have had no issues around here with them.

yup, same thing here. I have vaped in the hospital as a patient, visitor and just someone along. IN FACT, a couple weeks ago my dad had to go for an angiogram and I went with because he had to be sedated and could not drive afterward. As he was having all the prep work done, I was vaping when one of the cardio nurses blew in and immediately she asked about it because she had hear about e cigs but never seen one. So I whipped my entire little supply box out of my purse, she gave me some sort of "implememt" (not really sure what it was, but it was some sterile pick like thing that she promptly unwrapped) so I could pop the cap off the top of a carto, showed her how I fill them....explained my whole cleaning process. She whipped out a pad of paper and was writing down URLS, and took my email and said she was going to order a starter kit. She said she had been thinking about it but wanted to see someone who really used one. So guess what, she did. And NO ONE said one word to me IN THE HOSPITAL about using it. I only used it in my dad's little room, not like just out in the more public areas. It was actually funny because she sent in her other smoking co workers to see it in action. I explained that there were many devices, a lot better than what I had, available and that I had other stuff ordered, etc. But that really any of the decent starter kits were a good place to begin. They were ALL interested....which I think it great given they are med professionals. But in stores and restaurants NO ONE has ever said I couldn't use it or anything. Like you said, if anything was said it was more an expression of interest. My husband is a professional musician and plays in clubs and occasionally I go to his shows and I openly use my e cigs in clubs and NO ONE has ever said anything there, other than once in a while a small group gathering by me to check it out. But basically ANY attention has been positive, no one saying I couldn't or shouldn't be using it. I use it in the car and once a cop was pulled up next to us and he did a double take for a brief moment and did nothing. I got the impression he knew what it was. But I would NOT seek out any security person if I was at a mall or anything to ASK for permission. Most malls have kiosks selling them anyway. At least here they do. All the major gas stations have the disposable variety as well.

YUP, no such thing as too many backups. There is NO way I will run out of batts, cartos or liquid. Just won't happen! I will simply not allow it, LOL. Hell, we aren't even low on anything, just keep acquiring more. I figure that it will all get used...even batteries we won't be actively using. IF we won't be using it I will give the stuff to someone who needs it.

New York Ban Ecig Ban
juliery replied to Christopher's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
I didn't know what that whole rating thing was. Like what is that based on? Like just because you like the person and they haven't done anything bad? I saw it on my profile but wasn't sure what it really indicated. I am MORE than happy to send the email. Is there any info on the NC ban as far as who we need to email? We can just copy the same email and change the NY to NC, correct? Will that be posted in another thread? I think we should email ASAP and not wait till the last minute when they may not even see it in time. With he IL one I sent the stuff like a month in advance and to EVERY senator and rep even though it was a HB, but I figure it NEVER hurts to send it to all of them, because that bill ended up dying. Perhaps it will stop another from being created with them having outcry in advance. You would think with all the problems in all these states they would have more important matters to address, like creating jobs and fixing the freaking economy. ESPECIALLY since banning ANY product would adversely affect all that. ALL those people would be out of work, at least some of them collecting unemployment, it would reduce sales tax revenue. So not only is it stupid it creates problems they are allegedly TRYING to fix. Anyway, I think we should get on that NC thing ASAP. -
That seems like a reasonable possibility
-
no, I have never asked. I figure if someone has an issue they will address it when and if it is a problem. So far that has NEVER happened, aside from a few ppl saying, "is that one of those electric cigarette things"?
-
That is awesome. So far I haven't had a single problem. NO ONE anywhere has told me that I couldn't vape in any business, whether it be a store or restaurant. Once they see it is not a cigarette, no one has ever said anything about not using it. So far most people have known what it was, but often just not seen one in real life, and they are interested if anything. Almost all of them either say they are interested for themselves or some other person in their life. No one has ever told me I had to stop using it. I do not try to antagonize anyone or anything though either. I do not blow big billows of vapor around or anything. Usually, if I am at a restaurant I blow it down toward the floor, or I swallow it and don't exhale at all since you don't really NEED to. I do not want to intentionally act like I am trying to get around smoking laws, that was never my intention. So I am a polite user, so far so good, no problems anywhere.

Like I said, I did it too on one, and I am GLAD I got the "blow off" response right away because then I knew not to give out that info to anyone else. It was basically like, you aren't voting for me anyway, so I don't care about your opinion. -

juliery replied to Christopher's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
Everyone should send the letter...regardless of where they live...what happens in one state adds fuel to the fire....NONE of these bans can be allowed to happen. IF they do then we MUST see to it that they are overturned. It will affect ALL of us eventually. When I sent out over 100 emails last spring to all the reps and senators in IL, many of them emailed back asking for my physical address....DO NOT give it. I only did to one, and within an hour got an email back saying that I wasn't a constituent of whoever it was. SO I wrote back and said, fine, I hope he doesn't have aspirations of running for any statewide office because I will NOT forget his backing the bill. So with all the others I said I didn't find it necessary to give out that info. That I was a resident of IL and that is all that should matter. So if asked to give your physical address, make up some reason, or simply state you don't give out that info when it is not necessary. -
It is a multi faceted issue.....first off the states don't want to be losing all that tax revenue from the sale of cigarettes. Then you have the entire tobacco industry which is TOTALLY against e cigs because it affects their sales and they can see where this is going....imagine the day that half the smokers aren't smoking anymore....think of what that means...half of all tobacco industry sales gone? All the jobs lost, etc. The tobacco industry is HUGE and they are VERY powerful. THEN you have the pharmaceutical industry which is also VERY big and VERY powerful and both of them have lobbyists and industry giants that are owed LOTS of favors. They each want us using their products. We can stop smoking, but it better be using a lozenge, gum, patch, pill, etc. Both those industries contribute MILLIONS into local and national political campaigns. In IL last year, the senator, Terry Link, now retired, was the one who introduced the bill here to ban the sale of all e cig products. His biggest campaign contributions....from the pharma industry, which is a big industry in northern IL. You better believe THEY were the ones who were behind that. He OWED them, and when they say pay up, these reps and senators DO IT, or next time they are running they can kiss that money goodbye. So you basically have three entities all with motivation to stop this. Fortunately here the bill was reassigned to a "health committee" and when that happens the bill just basically dies in committee. Nothing has happened with it since then. It is not scheduled for anything at this time and hopefully it will just go away. HOWEVER if several states are successful with bans THAT gives a bill in another state a better chance of succeeding. However, look what happened in NJ like a year or so ago....the whole thing was overturned, of course in the meantime it is a pain in the butt getting anything. Of course you can just have a friend in another state order the stuff and then just send it to you....no law against your friend giving you a gift. Most of the bills don't have anything against possessing the products, just selling/buying them within the state or selling to a known resident of the state in which it is banned. Anyway, I wouldn't call it really a conspiracy, that would imply there are things going on that are secret. This is happening in the open and it is very obvious what the motivation is...it is $$$$$$ like most other things. They all want their money. The only idiocy is what they publicly state as the motivation....this has NOTHING to do with safety/health. Any idiot knows that just removing the smoke aspect removes all the respiratory related illnesses right out the gate. After all, most ppl in a fire succumb to smoke inhalation first, before they are ever harmed by the fire. BUT even IF they were just as dangerous as cigarettes....what would be the problem? All the issues already stated. But, if you want to go down a conspiracy road, I have often considered this.....we all know that most smoking cessation products don't work long term. Almost all people who quit start smoking again, using any of the cessation aids, even if it is several years later. So what if this is really about the fact that they DO know it is healthy? I mean, no one (other than ourselves) really wants us living to be 95 yrs old. That is a HUGE drain on the government in one form or another. Keeping us addicted to cigarettes is a win win....odds are we will get some kind of smoking related illness/disease that will shorten our lifespan...before retirement even better, thereby continuing to make the tobacco giants remain giants, the gov is collecting all their sin tax money, and the pharmas aren't left out.....they know we will most likely try quitting numerous times, like most of us who have been smoking for a long time have already done, so they make their money too. SO everyone wins IF we are all smoking....everyone but us that is. Just my thoughts/opinions.
-
eh, I just cram it back in, takes a second....LOL...too lazy to go through all that for something that isn't hurting anything, plus it is just a few out of many that even have that issue. Some of the cartos have a lot more filler in them than others. Then some of them are packed more tightly, some more loosely. As long as they work I am good!!
-
I coughed like a maniac when I first started vaping....I was dragging like it was a cigarette instead of inhaling more softly, steadily and smoothly. After a year I still occasionally forget and choke myself, LOL. I guess a 30 year habit dies hard!! Glad you are enjoying vaping!!

I was so infuriated I didn't contact them at all. They both re-died within a day each of use. I KNOW what they did, and during those eight days when I wrote them to check on what the hell was taking so long they still stuck to that they had been mailed on that monday and "should arrive any day".....on top of it, when they wrote that they couldn't even have been mailed yet AT THAT TIME because it was 4 more days before I got them. It does not take any 4 days for ANYTHING to travel 35 miles, even if it had been mailed first class....they were mailed priority, which is two day delivery from most anywhere in the 48 contiguous states. They flat out lied to me, I know it, and I figure if they lied repeatedly before I even got them back, they would just continue to do so I and frankly I was afraid of making an *** out of myself with what I would have said. So I figure the best way to "punish" them is to take my business elsewhere, which we already have. We ordered like $75 in numerous small bottles of juice to find stuff to replace what we had been buying with them. I ordered another e cig kit (bigger batts) from someone else, and have 2 mods ordered. So they can kiss that nearly $500 goodbye that THEY could have had. I am STILL so infuriated I could spit fire....if I could spit fire, LOL. My husband and I were kind of calculating things and he thinks it is more in the 2 grand range we had spent with them. Well they won't see anymore....there are enough other places to go with suppliers who don't lie. AND AGAIN, I would have had NO problem if they had wanted to at least try to repair them....IF they can be successfully repaired I have NO problem whatsoever with that. However, if that is possible, they didn't do a good job of it, that is pretty obvious. It isn't like we are new users doing anything we shouldn't do to them. I know how to use a PT, I don't keep any kind of liquids, drinks, etc in the area of my laptop...I use it on a lapdesk that gets jostled around so never do I have any drinks or anything on here while using my PT. UGH the whole thing irritates me. Plus I have my PT from cig easy which has had NO problems and I am going to order another from them. They are a better price anyway, and 3 weeks almost, no problems....that's better than ANY of the PTs I ever had from V4L.
