Absolutely love my Smok Alien with baby beast tank. The .15 coil will drink up some juice. Good flavor and nice vapor I guess that the trade off

Some mods don't have a wattage setting for TC, just temp setting. I use Kanger mods exclusively, and there is no wattage setting in TC, it doesn't matter if I set it to 5 watts or 160 watts, it still functions the same, some other brands are the same, depends on who makes them.
Kanger says the initial wattage depends on the coil resistance, I did read somewhere that the initial surge is at a specified voltage which would make sense. Whether that is at 3.3 or 3.7 Kanger isn't saying, or maybe it is higher than that I don't know. Some people say the initial surge is at max watts the mod will go, but I find that hard to believe since my .7 coils would burn the cotton using 160w, even if it only lasted a fraction of a second.

A little late to chime in on this, but...
In regards to TFV8 tanks, coils and SS: The tanks are SS. The coil housings are SS. The coils themselves are Kanthal.
In regards to using TC with Kanthal, the Hohm Wrecker Gen 2 and the Hohm Slice can do TC with Kanthal with their proprietary chip. Not sure about the Hohm Wrecker Gen 1. I've been using a Hohm Slice since December and run it almost exclusively in TC with Kanthal coils. So far these are the only two (possibly three) mods I know of that will run Kanthal in TC.

You're welcome. The wattage setting also effects the "ramp up" time of a vape. The higher the wattage, the faster the coil heats up. TC is a bit of a balancing act between available power and temperature setting. Some mods have preheat settings as well. The Alien has soft, normal, and hard. Hard applying more wattage to the coil for the first couple of seconds. The SX mini takes it a step further and allows the user to create a custom power curve over a ten second period. Using TC on the SX, I use a curve that applies and extra five watts at the very beginning of the vape and then slopes down to my set wattage over a period of about two seconds. Somewhere in there the TC has kicked in and I get an even temperature vape beginning to end. It took a little trial and error to find the right set points.

On most mods in TC mode, the wattage sets a ceiling for how much power the coil can pull from the device. If the wattage is set to low you may never get to the desired or "dialed in" temperature. If the wattage is set too high you run the risk of the mod applying TC so rapidly and abruptly that you feel the mod kicking in and out of TC during a vape. I usually vape for awhile using power mode to find the power that gives me a decent vape. I then set the device to TC and set the wattage for the same wattage I used in power mode. I will then start low on temperature, say 400F and keep turning it up until I get the temperature that feels right.
I know nothing about the Halo Reactor. I do know mods vary greatly in how the handle TC. I've got a Wismac Predator that will not stabilize in TC. An Alien that is pretty nice. Then there's the Yihi SX mini that is smooth as a baby's behind in TC. Some mods react quicker than others with TC as well. Sounds like the Halo may be a bit slow allowing the temperature to get a little too hot before the TC kicks in, or you just may need to lower the temperature setting to keep the heat down.
I hope this made some sense. Both settings work together.

It's likely saying the tank is made of SS. The premade coils, are definitely not. And yep, no problem. Not everyone is fond of TC vaping. For me however, it changed my entire experience for the better. I dont plan to vape on watt mode ever again, unless I'm testing my homebrew e-liquid. I use my old setups for that.

Nope, all of their pre-made TFV8 Baby tank coils are made with Kanthal. Kanthal doesnt work in TC mode. Though I've read there may be some break throughs on the horizon for that.

I'd probably love the smok V8 baby tanks, but that stupid rubber ring around the fill hole is constantly soaking up juice (even when Im careful), and it expands and get too big to fit within a few weeks. The other issue I had was how hot they got. Not my cup of tea, oh and no prebuilt TC coils was another issue for me. I have absolutely no desire to build my own coils. Otherwise, they deliver on taste and cloud production no doubt. And yeah, they'l work on pretty much any sub ohm setup.

Yes. 99.99% of atomizers have a 510 connection so do the same percentage of Mods. The only concerns are building to low an ohm build for the device and over hang of the rda or rdta so it is smooth. Go have fun.
To be a vapor you don't have to be OCD but it helps. [emoji1303]

The wall adapter I use came with the iPower 80W TC, I also use the ones that came with the iStick 50W. Your adapter should NOT get hot when in use. If it does, I'd be looking at getting a new one. Never, and I mean NEVER plug the charger into a USB port on a computer or laptop. That's a good way to losing your PC/laptop should the cord get too hot. I always use a wall adapter and never leave it unattended (read: never charge it overnight while you're sleeping).

Most mods today are pretty well protected against battery mishaps. Regardless, these are powerful batteries capable of producing a LOT of current and need to be respected. For that matter, any battery needs to be used with care. A 1.5V AA or a 9V can even produce a significant amount of heat if shorted and depending where this occurs i.e. it's surroundings, the ramifications could be ugly. Obviously, Samsung just picked up on that little fun fact recently. And yes, you hit the nail on the head, hype. Vaping is obviously being politicized and they hype has hit epidemic proportions and there are an abundance of headline scanners willing to jump in and play Chicken Little.

Of the mods I have with a built in battery, when they go bad they just stop working. That's just my experience, though.
Like @Bebop said, by the time you need to worry about that, you'll have several more new SHINY toys to play with.

Some of the indcaatoers of a battery at the end of it's life are. Runs out quickly, charges quickly and the device will throw codes or stop working properly.
I would contact Smok or see were there service is. I am betting it will cost more to fix then the cost of a new one.
Time for a new mod.

It's a built in battery. After a year or more it will gradually hold less and less of a charge and fade away eventually just stopping
but it won't matter because by then you'll have 5 or 6 different devices 😀
