  1. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Centaurus DNA 250C Box Mod from Lost Vape. The Centaurus DNA 250C Box Mod was supplied for the purpose of this review by Carrie from Lost Vape. Introduction Their seems to have been something missing in the marketplace for far too long and that's DNA box mods from Lost Vape, i hear the question so often about when they are going to release a new one? especially a 75C. Well hopefully a DNA 75C mod will be here very soon as Lost Vape are back but first up is their new dual 18650 DNA 250C device called the Centaurus. The Centaurus has a very familiar look and as the slogan "Legendary Reborn" suggests is very much an upgraded Paranormal which could easily have been called the Paranormal V2. With much more straight angled edging and less busy look very little can be improved on as when using DNA chipsets that's down to Evolv but what Lost Vape can control they have done well with another solid mod and much improved battery door over the Paranormal. The Centaurus comes in different frames and as well as a limited stabwood series it also comes with the choice of different Carbon Fiber or gorgeous Abalone panels, let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1× CENTAURUS DNA 250C BOX MOD 1× USB Connecting Cable 1× USB On-The-Go Adaptor 1× Warranty Card 1× User Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Centaurus came in packaging which was marked sample which is more in keeping with the look of the limited edition packaging although i received the version with a Gunmetal frame, Pearl Fish Leather spine and New Zealand Abalone Shell Panels but their are plenty of options with different stabwood, carbon Fiber or Abalone panels. The device as mentioned is very similar looking to the Paranormal but has a lot less busy look which i prefer and straight angled tapered edging so not rounded ridging as seen on previous lost vape DNA devices. The finish of the Centaurus is a step up and if you look at pictures of well used Paranormal and Therion devices it's the rounded edging and ridges that have been done away with on the Centaurus design that wear and have chips and dents etc. The Centaurus has a Stainless Steel construction with padded leather spine and a choice of panels and i have to say out of the 10 different options their isn't a single one i don't like the look of, Lost Vape have done a great job with their choice of materials. The device is the classic box mod shape but the angled edging and cut corner face (borrowed from the Therion) gives it a nice aesthetic form factor while the padded leather spine adds comfort when handling. ___________________________________________________________________ Centaurus Specs and Features: Dimension: 91mm(H)x55mm(W)x26mm(D) Weight: 173g Chipset: Evolve DNA 250C chipset Battery: Dual 18650 Battery(Not Included) Power Range: 1-200W Modes: VW / TC(Ni80, Ni90, Ti, SS316) / TCR / Bypass Replay Mode Boost Screen: 0.90 inch color TFT display screen Temperature Range: 200°F-600°F Coil Resistance supported: 0.1Ω-3.0Ω Coil Material supported: Nickel, Titanium, SS316, KA1, Ni80, Ni90 Body Material: Stainless Steels / Leather Software: Escribe Charging Port: Micro USB USB On-The-Go power bank Charging Current: 2A Thread: 510 Colours: Limited Stabwood Series(Total 7777PCS): Black/Crocodile-Stabwood, Gunmetal/Pearl Fish-Stabwood, SS/Crocodile-Stabwood Carbon Fiber Series: Black/Ostrich-Tactile Carbon Fiber, Gunmetal/Pearl Fish-Tactile Carbon Fiber, SS/Cowhide-Tactile Carbon Fiber, Black/Ostrich-Chopped Carbon Fiber New Zealand Abalone Shell Series: Black/Ostrich-NZL Abalone Shell, Gunmetal/Pearl Fish-NZL Abalone Shell, SS/Cowhide-NZL Abalone Shell ___________________________________________________________________ Installing The Batteries The Centaurus accommodates dual 18650 batteries which get installed via the bottom hatch door. The door on the Centaurus is a big improvement over the Paranormal and no longer needs sliding out before pulling up but instead has a locking latch which just needs sliding to open and then closing is just a matter of pushing the door closed and the latch locks in place. We also now have a metal spring loaded hinge rather than plastic, this door feels much more durable which is good to see as many have had problems with the door on the Paranormal. My only grumble is the battery orientation is just stamped into the contacts which can be seen in reasonable to good light but i still would much prefer this bright White. ___________________________________________________________________ Using The Centaurus Once a battery is fitted any press of a button wakes the device up and the lock screen is displayed that shows the time, date and battery percentage. 5 clicks of the fire button unlocks the device and takes you to the main screen, 5 clicks again locks the device, as with everything else on the device this can be changed using Escribe to 2,3 or however many clicks you want to lock and unlock the device, you can even choose a different combination of buttons if you wish to stop people unlocking the device and having a vape without your permission. The screen is very bright and vibrant but with not that much use of colour with the default theme, of course the theme can be changed or you can design your own using Escribe. The device has a select button as well as the 2 navigational buttons so using the device is a breeze. Using the navigational buttons moves you to different fields on the screen which is shown by the field you are on having a background colour surround. When you are on the field you want pressing the select button highlights the field, now you use the navigational buttons to alter the field to what you want, pressing the select button again sets your changes. On the main screen as well as having fields you can alter you have fields like info, preheat and settings which when selected takes you to another screen. All screens are navigated and altered the same way as the main screen it is a very user friendly interface in my opinion and the Centaurus with it's DNA 250C chipset has all the features you would expect from a modern device as well as the replay feature and Boost which i will cover in the next section. ___________________________________________________________________ Replay and Boost The Replay feature i love, i would say when i am using any of my 250C or 75C devices i have it on Replay about 80% of the time. To use Replay you need your coil to be using a temp control wire or include a temp control wire in it's make up but temp control as we are accustomed to it's definitely not and temperature is only part of what's going on. As well as using Replay and watching videos about it i'm still trying to get my head around how it actually works, but from my experience and from what i have seen, work it certainly does. The idea is when you find your flavour sweet spot while vaping you can record that vape and then vape in Replay mode and you should get that same flavour with every vape with that juice and coil combination regardless of things like how saturated the cotton is etc. I am still not convinced about the explanation it just seems too clever yet my experience of using it convinces me it actually works and is my favourite way of vaping, with replay you also get dry burn protection. The DNA 250C and 75C chipsets also brought us a boost feature which can be set within escribe and allows the initial power to be boosted to i know some people don't like the terminology but it gives an harder hitting vape. ___________________________________________________________________ Changing Things With Escribe Using the Centaurus with the Escribe software allows you to alter so many things, as already mentioned you can change how the device can be locked and unlocked but so much more can be done. You can set up profiles, alter boosts, set up temp control wires and even change the colour of the LED on the fire button. I am only just touching the surface and many reading this that are use to owning DNA devices will be far more advanced in using the software than me, there is even a mod section which is an area a novice like me should stay clear of as if the manufacturer has set the device up properly you can only possibly do more harm than good in this section unless you know exactly what your doing. The one part of Escribe which really appeals to me and will many is the theme designer that allows you to change the backgrounds, where things are positioned on the screen, add extra screens etc. When i have pictured other DNA C devices in atty reviews they have one of my own designed themes but for this review i thought the pictures of the device should show the default theme that came installed on the device. ___________________________________________________________________ Protections: Atomizer Protection Short Circuit Protection Weak Battery Protection Temperature Protection Low/High Resistance Protection Reverse Polarity Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging And On The Go Power Bank As well as using the micro USB cable for any upgrades and using the device with the Escribe software it also supports 2A charging although as always i personally never recommend charging the batteries in the device unless it's your only option. You also receive a USB on the go adaptor to covert the Centaurus into a power bank for charging other devices such as smart phones. ___________________________________________________________________ Performance And Final Thoughts! When it comes to performance it's a DNA 250C device, enough said! I love the look and feel of the device and yes it's so similar to the Paranormal and when handled has a very familiar feel to it but on closer inspection gone are the ridged edging that easily seem to take a battering giving the device a less busy, more durable look. Many who like the look of both the Paranormal and Therion will be pleased that this device has that very familiar Lost Vape look while others will find it too alike and would much rather of had a complete departure and new design, i can understand both view points but don't blame Lost Vape after it being a while since manufacturing a full DNA device playing it safe. The battery door is a big improvement and as far as what the device actually offers functionality wise which is nothing new is something we are aware of as that's a matter for Evolv. So a cracking device from Lost Vape and hopefully a new 75C on the way! Apart from the subjective opinion over it's similar looks to what they have produced in the past and minor issue with marked battery orientation which could be more visible the only con i can really find is the 24mm raised 510 platform is far too raised in my opinion. It's fine for what i have been using being both a low wattage restrictive direct lung vaper who also likes a loose MTL as the tanks i have used have been 24mm or less but this is a 200w dual battery device which one improvement is now can accommodate a 26mm atty without any overhang whatsoever but instead it gives a big gap between the base of the atty and device. ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Excellent build quality Good choice of materials Plenty of different panel options Familiar Lost Vape look (reassuring to some, con for others) Colour Screen Great Performance Dual battery 200W high powered device DNA 250C Chipset Replay Feature Boost Feature Easy to use interface Upload themes or design your own Taylor device using Escribe software Improved secure battery door Fit up to 26mm atty's without overhang Use device as power bank (adaptor included) 2A charge rate Firmware upgradeable Cons Very similar look to previous devices (subjective con for some pro for others) 510 raised too much in my opinion (bigger diameter than 24mm will gap) Labelled battery orientation could be clearer I would once again like to thank Carrie from Lost Vape for supplying the Centaurus DNA 250C Box Mod for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  2. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the iJust AIO Kit from Eleaf. The iJust AIO Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Eleaf. Introduction The iJust AIO is the latest in the iJust series and an AIO Pod Stick device bringing an AIO/Pod device to those who prefer the tube/pen style form. When i was told this was being sent i really didn't look up it's specs and features and was not expecting anything of great interest but the iJust AIO Kit surprised me ticking many boxes. It has a neat side filling method, adjustable airflow, 3 power levels, 3 tier battery status indication and for it's compact size accommodates an impressive 1500mAh battery. With e-liquid viewing windows, no need to remove the pod to refill and coming in 5 colour options, let's check the iJust AIO Kit out! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1x iJust AIO 1x GT M 0.6ohm coil 1x USB Cable 1x USB Manual 1x Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The iJust AIO Kit came in quite basic cardboard packaging with a picture of the device on the front of the box. I received the Black version, the colour options are Black, Gunmetal, Silver, Rainbow or Pink. The device comes with the pod inserted but no coil installed, only the top of the pod protrudes from the device which includes the fixed drip tip and viewing windows with adjustable ring. The device is tubular with "Eleaf" printed towards the bottom on the front and "iJust AIO" in the same position on the rear, apart from that the device is quite plain. On the front we have a protruding large fire button with translucent surround for the LED to shine through, in the same position on the rear is the micro USB port. On either side towards the top we have small airflow slots and then moving to the base printed safety marks. The device is small and portable just getting swallowed up by the hand so good for out and about, the device is well thought out and made well! ___________________________________________________________________ iJust AIO Specs and Features: Size: 22mm x 102.5m Capacity: 2ml Resistance Range: 0.3-3.0ohm Battery: Built-in 1500mAh Output: 23W max Dual air inlets & adjustable airflow 3 power modes Compatible with GT Coils Easy side filling design 3-Tier Battery Status Indication Multiple Protections Thread: 510 Colours: Black, Gunmetal, Silver, Rainbow, Pink ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod You receive one pod which accommodates replaceable coils and is refillable, the pod has a tinted mouth section and clear main lower section with the upper main section having a broad adjustable ring with large cutouts for viewing windows, when turning this ring it reveals the fill port but more about that in another section of the review. Either side of the pod towards the bottom we have small slots for airflow and moving to the base we have 2 magnets either side which are recessed by an hair so don't fully make contact with the metallic rail inside the device, the pod has a 2ml capacity. ___________________________________________________________________ The Coils The Coil head as with so many of these pods just get press fitted into place and then pulled free to replace. You receive just one coil which to me is a big con, even if a couple of Dollars is added to the price at least 2 coils should come with any pod based device if using replaceable coils. The pod hosts GT coils and the coil you receive is a Kanthal mesh 0.6ohm coil with a rating between 10w to 25w, the bore while not wide is definitely more suited for a direct lung draw. Also available is the regular Nichrome 1.2ohm coil rated between 7w to 14w which is a MTL option and really with that adjustable airflow should of been included in the kit giving the user more choice. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking inside the Pod's bay we can see the recessed central circular area with contacts for the base of the coil to sit. The perimeter of the inside of the bay is a metallic rail with 2 large protruding sections that act as stoppers. The way it works is quite clever, as mentioned the magnets on the base of the pod are recessed by a hair but these magnets are quite powerful, just the magnetic pull between the magnets and metallic rail gives the pod a very secure fit while because the magnets don't actually touch the rail it allows for rotation between the stoppers for the adjustable airflow. ___________________________________________________________________ Adjustable Airflow On either side of the device we have small slots and also matching slots on the pod. As described in the previous section the pod can rotate between stoppers to either have the slots on the device and pod perfectly lined up for airflow fully open or adjust to preference. It works really well giving good adjustability but a very minor con is when the device is in your pocket the pod does sometimes get rotated so the airflow needs readjusting. ___________________________________________________________________ Filling Another neat feature is the filling method which allows filling without removing the pod. The top of the pod which protrudes from the device has an adjustable ring with two large cutouts that act as viewing windows. When this ring is turned in one of the viewing windows appears a silicone section with self sealing membrane. The silicone section only takes up half the viewing window so as you fill you can clearly see the juice level, once filled just turn the ring to hide the silicone fill section. The fill slot allows the use of modern Gorilla nozzles but not glass droppers so if you use glass droppers you would need to decant into a bottle with a smaller nozzle. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The iJust AIO Device The device is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on you have the choice of 3 different power settings, high, medium or low. The power settings appear to be different constant voltage outputs but no details are given other than the already mentioned high, medium and low. To change between settings is 3 quick presses of the fire button and the LED will flash 3 times in the colour that represents the new setting selected: Red = Low Blue = Medium Green = High Also 2 quick clicks of the fire button allows you to check the current power setting, the LED will light solid in the corresponding colour for two seconds. The device also has 3 tiers of battery status indication which is shown by what colour the LED lights while vaping, the percentages are the following: Green = 60% - 100% Blue = 20% - 60% Red = 0% - 20% Finally the iJust AIO device has all the usual protections you would expect which if they kick in are indicated by various flashes from the LED. ___________________________________________________________________ Protections: Over-charge Protection Over-discharge Protection Over-current Protection Over 10s Protection Short Circuit Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging The Charge rate isn't given but it took around 2 hours to charge so about 1A max during charging which is a bit sluggish but the device does support pass-through. While charging the LED lights solid Red and once fully charged the light goes off. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The iJust AIO KIt, And Thoughts! Pod and AIO devices are not everyone's cup of tea especially those into rebuildables but their are many that have embraced them while others are warming to them as they improve. I am a mod and RTA vaper myself but come in the category of warming to pod and AIO devices as they improve but i must admit i was surprised by this device thinking it might be too basic for my personal liking, well it is a simple device but it's executed so well i really like it. Adjustable airflow, refillable, replaceable coils, can see juice level at all times, fill without moving the pod, DL and MTL (mtl coil not included), 3 different power levels, 3 tiers of battery status indication and decent battery for it's portable size, that's a lot of boxes ticked. The power settings work well with a clear difference between the 3 when using the 0.6ohm coil although the TPD compliant 2ml capacity is a bit lacking for this coil but at least filling is quick and easy. I have always found Eleaf coils better than they are given credit for and this pod with the 0.6ohm coil installed is very similar to the vape and flavour the better disposable sub-ohm tanks give which is pretty darn good and no issues with longevity. I have been using this as a second device for 2 weeks and despite getting sent a pack of spare coils i still have the original coil installed. The airflow adjustment works really well and when closed down to barely open i can get a loose MTL with the 0.6ohm coil so the not included 1.2ohm MTL coil with it's narrower bore should give a decent MTL vape, as it is the included 0.6ohm coil is a semi restrictive lung hit fully open. Also these type of pods with press fitted coil heads tend to leak to varying degrees but i am finding any moisture present when removing the pod minimal which could just as easily be condensation so very happy! If using as your main device a charge during the day will possibly be needed with the 0.6ohm coil dependant on how much you vape but if you use the optional 1.2ohm coil head then this will last most vapers all day. So plenty to like but like most things it could be better, the biggest con for me is only one coil included, i really think the 1.2ohm coil head should also come with the kit. This is not an expensive kit and Eleaf obviously are trying to keep it as cheap as possible but do they not watch or read reviews that universally and constantly say these types of kits have to come with at least 2 coils. The only other minor cons for me is the sluggish charging and when in the pocket the pod can rotate so the airflow needs readjusting but apart from that, it's a little gem! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Well thought out device Portable, lightweight 5 Colour options Replaceable coils DL and MTL option (mtl coil not included) Adjustable airflow Pod fits securely Neat side-fill method Fill and view e-liquid level without removing pod 3 different power levels 3 tier battery status indication 1500mAh battery Good flavour from 0.6ohm mesh coil Good coil longevity Decent battery life Supports pass-through Not expensive Cons Only comes with one coil Charging could be quicker Pod can easily rotate when in pocket causing airflow alignment to move 2ml capacity with 0.6ohm coil not great but understandable (TPD compliance) I would once again like to thank Eleaf for supplying the iJust AIO Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  3. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Cog MTL RTA from Wotofo. The Cog MTL RTA was supplied for the purpose of this review by Antonio from Wotofo. Introduction Over the last 4 years Wotofo have grown into one of the giants in vaping manufacturing bringing us countless popular RDA's and RTA's and a few devices that haven't been too shabby. The Cog is their latest MTL RTA and another collaboration with Matt aka "Suck My Mod" which offers a lightweight transparent design and innovative cog (gear) driven airflow design. MTL vapers would of been eyeing the Cog up ever since it's marketing first appeared so let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1* COG MTL RTA 2* 2.5mm Thick Cotton Strips 1* Dual Core Fused Clapton Coil 0.8ohm 1* Single-Strand Coil 1.2ohm 1* Cross Head Screwdriver 1* Bag O-rings 1* User Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics The Cog MTL RTA came in the usual Black and Woofo Green packaging with clear lid so the product can be fully viewed before opening, i received the Black version, the options are Black, SS, Gunmetal, Gold, Blue and Rainbow. The RTA's construction involves a lot of plastic making it extremely lightweight and has a cheap almost semi-disposable feel to it but that is in contrast to it's looks which i actually like reminding me slightly of one of my Doggystyle versions. Although it involves a lot of plastic where it matters for durability the threaded areas are metal such as the top-cap threading, also the deck area and chimney. Up top we have a curved style MTL delrin 510 drip tip so you can use your own and the chamber has a nice curved shape to it similar to the "Recurve" sleeve. On the front of the chamber we have the Cog Logo which looks very nice but is over shadowed by large etched safety marks on the rear which i'm sure i'm not the only one that will dislike. I understand the safety marks have to be present but surely they could be smaller. Moving to the bottom the Cog has a transparent look allowing to see the Gears in action as the airflow is adjusted, we have dual slots (which are not for airflow adjustment) and both an arrow head and markings showing the selected airflow setting. As mentioned in my opinion the Cog looks great but do wonder about the plastic lightweight approach and how durable over time the gears will be as these also appear to be plastic. ___________________________________________________________________ Cog Specs and Features: Build Deck Diameter: 22mm Height: 34mm(Without Drip Tip & 510 Pin) Tank Capacity: 3ml / 2ml TPD version Material: Stainless Steel (body) + PCTG (tank tube) Coil Configuration: Single Coil Resistance: 0.4-1.8ohm Resistance of Included Coil: 0.8ohm Wattage Range: 5-30W Drip Tip: 510 Delrin Drip Tip Airflow Type: Bottom Airflow Insulator Material: German PEEK Connector Threading: 510 Thread Colours Available: Black, SS, Gunmetal, Gold, Blue, Rainbow Included Coil Specs As Given: 1. Dual Core Fused Clapton Coil Material: Ni80 30G*2+38G Resistance: 0.8ohm Inner Diameter: 2.5mm 2. Single-Strand Coil Material: Ni80 28G Resistance: 1.2ohm Inner Diameter: 2.5mm Number of Wraps: 9-wrap contact build ___________________________________________________________________ What You Receive? A big plus for receiving two different pre-wound coils and cotton (specs listed above) but other than that not a lot! A screwdriver which i used to try and undo the first clamp screw with before tossing it in the bin and a few O-rings and spare clamp screws, that's it! No spare PCTG tube or different drip tip option, normally Wotofo products include a lot but not on this occasion! ___________________________________________________________________ It's Various Parts! The Cog is made up of a 510 drip tip, central threaded top-cap, PCTG tube (3ml standard, 2ml TPD), chamber and chimney section, and base section including deck. It has a gear airflow system and Gold plated standard 510. ___________________________________________________________________ Filling The Tank I know there is not much logic to covering this before airflow but the airflow is the interesting part so will keep you in suspense. The top-cap is very thin and no knurling is present for grip so it can be quite difficult to unscrew. This is a bit of a chalk and cheese RTA for me so although unscrewing the top-cap can be a pain all metal sections including the threading and underside of the top-cap is very well machined. Once off we have two large fill ports allowing for a quick mess free fill and then screwing the top-cap back in position is no dramas with that silky smooth threading. ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow This is were the Cog gets interesting using a gear system directly underneath your coil rather than airflow having to travel from the side of the tank and then upwards, losing pressure on it's journey. We have two slots on the base which look like adjustable cyclops slots but do not adjust at all, these are just to allow plenty of air to get below where the real adjustable airflow is, underneath the coil. You do turn the section where the slots are situated though and we can see an arrowhead and different sized round indents to show the size of the airflow setting. As you turn the base section it has inner teeth like a Gear which interlocks with a central gear so any rotation of the base in turn rotates the inner gear which has different sized airflow inlets. The sizes of the airflow inlets are 1.6mm, 1.4mm, 1.2mm, 1.0mm and 0.8mm. As it adjusts to each airflow size as well as the arrowhead pointing at the corresponding setting it also clicks satisfyingly into place. ___________________________________________________________________ The Deck And Build I used both supplied coils and as i just get a feeling most reviews will show the build using the Fused Clapton i included photos of the Ni80 build although there is no difference in the build it'self and just to mention up to 3.0ID coils will sit great in this. The Cog has such a user friendly build deck utilising horizontal clamps sitting opposite each other both with a central screw so it doesn't matter which way your coils are wound they will slot in nicely. Just place your leads on the shelves underneath the loosened clamps and holding your coil in a central position tighten the clamp screws down from above. If needed use a coiling rod or fit for purpose tool to adjust the height and position of the coil then snip your access leads, that's all done! The deck is raised allowing for a GTA style of wicking so just poke your cotton ends down in the channels without over stuffing, make sure e-liquid can circulate below the cotton. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Cog And Thoughts! I did mention earlier this being a chalk and cheese RTA but personally as i don't mind too much if it's sometimes a pain to unscrew the top-cap, it gives the draw spectrum that i like, the question mark about the durability of the plastic gears could turn out favourable and a leaking issue i had i now have solved, so it's mostly Cheese for me as the Cog has outstanding performance. The top-cap not being the easiest to grip and get undone is more when i didn't use the tank for a while but actually when in continuous use it wasn't that bad, it seams to tighten and seal tighter the longer it is between fills. The other issue i had was after using the first day the next morning i found the tank had emptied everywhere and couldn't understand why as the wicking is straightforward and this style of GTA wicking is common and has not given me leaking issues before. So i re-wicked and it was much better for a couple of days with just a bit of leakage and then overnight the tank emptied again. After another re-wick which turns out like the first wasn't actually needed i noticed during use weeping coming from where the PCTG tube seals to the base so investigated further. The issue is the PCTG tube just sits on the base as the o-ring is that thin it's not the best of seals so the tank needs to be tightened together so tightly else the seal is compromised. The turning of the base to alter the airflow can very easily just slightly loosen the tube which will cause weeping which if isn't noticed and fixed will cause a real mess if left overnight. Once i found what the cause of the leaking was from then on after changing airflow and taking off or putting the tank on a mod i just made sure the tube was re-tightened and in the last 10 days i have had no leaking whatsoever. This idea of reducing loss of pressure really seems to work as the flavour from the Ni80 coil was outstanding but then the fused Clapton blew me away. This without doubt has been giving me the best flavour and smoothest airflow i have witnessed from a MTL tank manufactured in China, not saying there are not better ones just none i have tried. What did surprise me was although the Cog is still what i would class as an authentic MTL tank the draw is not as tight as many MTL vapers might be looking for being more variants of mid to loose draws which for me is perfect. So performance is great as long as you don't want a tight draw, i love the innovation shown and the sound and feel of the airflow clicking into place but a constant check is needed on the seal between the PCTG tube and base and it's not easy to grip and undo the top-cap! Before i put my likes and cons i would just like to say thanks for reading and stay safe! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Love the look (subjective) Lightweight 6 Colour options Very user friendly build deck Unique Gear direct airflow system Innovation shown Airflow settings click satisfyingly in place Machining of metal parts and threading spot on Outstanding flavour Silky smooth airflow Mid to loose MTL (my cup of tea) Can use your own 510 drip tip 2 different pre-wound coils included 3ml Capacity (standard version) Cons Top-cap hard to grip Plastic Gears, how durable? Seal between PCTG tube and base needs regular checking Doesn't give as tight a draw as some MTL vapers might prefer Safety marks on chimney an eyesore No spare PCTG tube No alternative drip tip I would once again like to thank Antonio from Wotofo for supplying the Cog MTL RTA for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  4. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look st the Blade Kit from Da One. The Blade Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Da One. Introduction Da One are a vaping manufacturer dedicated to starter MTL kits for those trying to quit the stinkies, which is good to see. The Blade is a blast from the past and alternative to pod systems, manufacturers such as Vaptio regularly brought similar type devices out before the vaping world went pod mad. The Blade is a very simple device that offers 3 different voltage settings which in turn outputs 3 different wattage's dependant on the installed coil. With it's screen displaying both battery status and H, M, or L to show the power level which is altered by a single press of the adjustment button the device is as easy to use as a pod system while giving a mod with tank set-up. The tank has a childproof feature when opening and is a leak resistant design coming with 2 different coil heads for different MTL experiences, let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1x DaOne Blade Kit 1x 0.6ohm Coil 1x 1.6ohm Coil 1x Micro USB cable 1x User manual 1x Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Blade is a tiny starter kit with metal construction and high build quality which comes in the choice of 5 colour options which are Triple Black, Modern White, Navy Blue, Sexy Red or Rebellious Pink, i received the Modern White version. All colour options come with a small Black MTL tank with proprietary drip-tip and magnetic drip tip dust cover. Although the tank is Black with all colour options the tanks o-rings match the colour of the device. The Blade is a very ergonomic device being very small and rounded and has a sleek aesthetic look. On the face of the device we have a Black horizontal pill shaped fire button at the top and smaller Black horizontal pill shaped settings button towards the bottom. Between these two buttons we have a vertical pill shaped display which displays both battery status and power setting, right at the bottom of the face we have the micro USB port. The base of the device has good venting and safety marks and then looking at the top of the device with the tank removed we have a 510 plate with spring loaded 510. Size comparison, Blade between Boost and Vinci X! ___________________________________________________________________ Blade Specs and Features: Dimensions: 114.5mm x 20.7mm x 27.5mm Tank diameter: 20mm Battery capacity: 1500mAh Atomizer capacity: 2ml 3 Voltage Levels with maximum 30W output 1.6ohm and 0.6ohm Coil Compatible with Barrel Coils Weight: 95g Resistance Range: 0.5ohm - 3.0ohm Leakproof/Childproof Top-fill design 4 Tier Battery Status Indication 1A Charge rate (pass through supported) Colours: Triple Black, Modern White, Navy Blue, Sexy Red, Rebellious Pink ___________________________________________________________________ The Blade Tank Overview The tank that comes with the Blade is a nice little MTL tank which has a 2ml capacity, no spare glass tube is supplied. The coil head screws into the base section and also on to the centre of the top plate to secure the tank tightly shut. The glass is sealed to the top plate with an o-ring and to the base section with dual o-rings for a really good seal. The airflow control is dual narrow slits which move with a nice tolerance for good adjustability, you use these adjustable slits in conjunction with the bore of the coil for the draw required. The top-cap has a fixed central section with a protruding collar for the proprietary drip tip to fit over like a sleeve, so you can't use your own 510's. We then have a springy outer section which needs pushing down before the top-cap will turn to undo, it works very much like the childproof feature of a medicine bottle. On the fill plate we have two round fill sockets with rubber collars, the openings are large enough at the top to use most standard nozzles and much smaller at the bottom of the collars. It works really well with air allowing to escape from the port which you are not using to fill and the tank fills quickly and mess free but the holes at the base of the collars are so small that when turning the tank upside down with just the fill plate exposed zero e-liquid escapes! You receive two different Nichrome coils neither of which are pre-installed, the coils can be told apart from the colour of the o-rings. The Yellow o-ringed coil head is a 0.6ohm mesh coil with a MTL bore but more on the larger size for MTL, this is rated between 18w to 30w. The other coil head has Black o-rings and houses a 1.6ohm regular round wire vertical coil with a rating between 8w to 18w, this has a much narrower bore. Also the coils of another device from Da One called the Barrel are also compatible which look to be more geared towards 50/50 ratio or nic salts e-liquids. These are both Nichrome round wire coils with a choice of 1.2ohm and 1.6ohm. Both included coil heads and Barrel coil heads have a protruding top section as this top section of the coil head acts as the chimney which gets screwed to the top plate when securing the tank. ___________________________________________________________________ Magnetic Dust Cover It's not the first time i have come across a magnetic dust cover for the drip tip but in the current climate probably a good idea adding any feature that can increase hygiene. The cover fits over the drip tip and has a powerful magnetic rim securing it very well. With the device being of metal construction while vaping the cover can just be attached to the base of the device where it is out the way. ___________________________________________________________________ Using Device And Tank Independently Although this is very much a kit both device and tank can be used independently of each other. The device would in this regard be much better if it had 5w to 30w adjustable wattage but still will work well with up to 22mm (minimal overhang) MTL tanks or RTA's, likewise the included tank is a quite nice versatile MTL offering which can be used on other devices. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Blade The Blade is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off, both actions are confirmed by the LED breathing White 5 times. The device is very simple with just a fire and settings button but it does have a screen of sorts. It's actually LED's being allowed to shine through translucent areas, we have a circle top which is for battery status indication then in a column H, M and L, the colour the circle lights while vaping indicates battery status and whichever one of the letters are lit indicates which power setting you are on. Each press of the settings button takes you to the next setting, they are constant voltage settings which from using the device i have found voltage is boosted when necessary to keep all settings consistent throughout the battery life, the wattage output of each setting will be dependant on the resistance of the coil which for the two included coil heads are: 0.6ohm Mesh Coil Head H = 30w M = 25w L = 15w 1.6ohm Regular Coil Head H = 18w M = 12w L = 10w How accurate these wattage outputs are i'm not too sure as with the 0.6ohm coil the biggest jump in wattage is between the medium and low settings but with the 1.6ohm coil the biggest jump is between high and medium which doesn't add up to me but it gives some idea of power output! As mentioned when pressing fire to vape the circle lights up in the corresponding colour to represents the status of the battery, the light stays on for 2 seconds after releasing the fire button to give time to check the status. The battery status LED colour represents: White = 75% to 100% Blue = 50% to 75% Green = 25% to 50% Red = 0% to 25% ___________________________________________________________________ Protections: Low Voltage Protection Over 10s Protection Over Discharge Protection Short Circuit Protection Overheat Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging The device has an impressive 1500mAh battery, i say impressive because of the size of the device they have done well to get that kind of capacity. The device can be charged via the micro USB port and i have to be consistent on this, all vaping products in my view should be using type C as standard so a bit disappointed. The device charges at 1A so takes about 90 minutes to charge and the battery status colours follow the same percentages when charging as when in operational use, the LED breathes the corresponding colour until fully charged and then the light goes off. 90 minutes for this type of device with a 1500mAh battery is about par and also the device supports pass-through so you can vape while charging. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Blade Kit And Thoughts! For a broader appeal this little device would of course be better if it had fully adjustable wattage between 5 and 30w and a bit of it's tiny size was sacrificed to allow the fitting of an 18650 battery but for who the device is aimed at, the smoker making the switch to vaping i just can't really fault it as it gives a really good alternative if a pod system just doesn't appeal. There has been many devices like this in the past but most despite having different voltage outputs have not boosted voltage so the higher settings only stay consistent with a fresh battery before the device works as a direct output device compromising performance, this device is consistent throughout on all settings! The little MTL tank is a little gem with childproof top-cap and silicone lined sockets rather than fill ports that allow liquid in but not out also the airflow adjustment works really well. The 1.6ohm regular coil allowed for a tight to medium draw so perfect for those trying to make the switch as you can easily get that cigarette type pull, this was best on either the Medium or Low setting and for flavour reminded me very much of the Nautilus coil just with better longevity. This coil worked well with 50/50 nic salts but also wicked perfectly well with my usual 70VG e-liquid. The 0.6ohm coil head also just about gave a cigarette type pull with airflow closed right down but was happier when having the airflow more open for a mid to loose MTL, fully open a direct lung hit is also possible. I found this coil head best on the medium and high settings with the flavour being about par compared to other mesh MTL coils. Again this coil head was versatile when it came to juice ratios although i would stick to the 1.6ohm coil or even one of the compatible Barrel coils if using with nic salts. I love how small the device is yet battery life is not too shabby, how long the battery lasts will depend on which coil and setting you use but the 1.6ohm coil on either the medium or low setting will last most vapers the whole day. Conclusion A really nice genuine starter kit, a great alternative to a pod system! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Nice build quality 5 Colour options Dedicated MTL device Tiny, ergonomic 1500mAh built-in battery (external battery would broaden appeal but at a trade off for size) 1A Charge rate Very simple device to use 3 power settings 4 tier battery status indication Battery status given while charging Mesh 0.6ohm & Regular 1.6ohm coil heads included 1.6ohm, tight to mid MTL draw, very good flavour and longevity 0.6ohm, mid to loose MTL draw, performance on par Compatible with Barrel Coil Heads Magnetic dust cover Childproof, leak resistant design Device and tank can be used independently Supports Pass-through Cons For broader appeal would be better with adjustable wattage 5w-30w In-built battery (although probably best for new vaper) proprietary drip tip No Spare glass Not type C USB I would once again like to thank Da One for supplying the Blade Starter Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  5. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Zeus X Mesh RTA from GeekVape. The Zeus X Mesh RTA was supplied for the purpose of this review by Clay from GeekVape. Introduction We were told the Zeus X would be the ultimate and final RTA in the Zeus family but that statement proved premature as obviously the lightbulb got switched on to the fact the family was missing a mesh option. The Zeus X Mesh is named correctly as it's the Zeus X with a mesh deck. Both RTA's have the same dimensions, use the same size glass options and both outer and inner chambers including the airflow system is identical making the Zeus X and Zeus X mesh base sections interchangeable. My initial thoughts were is this just laziness as the mesh RTA's up to now have been manufactured in a way to make us believe they needed to be quite complicated and tricky to wick for mesh RTA's to work or was this just making something more complicated than it needed to be and simple works best (no punk rocker hairdo's with the wicking here), let's find out! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 4.5ml Standard Edition 1x GeekVape Zeus X Mesh RTA (4.5ml) 1x Spare Glass Tube (3.5ml) 1x 810 drip tip 2x Ni80 0.4ohm Coil 1x Spare Parts 1x Hex Wrench 1x GV Triangular Tool 2x Feather Cotton 1x User Manual 1x Warranty Card 2ml TPD Edition 1x GeekVape Zeus X Mesh RTA (2ml) 1x Spare Glass Tube (2ml) 1x 810 drip tip 2x Ni80 0.4ohm Coil 1x Spare Parts 1x Hex Wrench 1x GV Triangular Tool 2x Feather Cotton 1x User Manual 1x Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics The Zeus X Mesh came in the usual Black sturdy cardboard box which is how Geekvapes samples are packaged so the retail packaging will differ. I received the Silver version, it's available in Gun Metal, Stainless Steel, Blue, Wine Red, Black, Gold, Green, Red & Black or Rainbow. The Black looks to be a matte black and unlike the first two versions of the Zeus (Zeus and Zeus Dual) where if i can remember rightly all versions had a media blasted finish (if not most of them did) apart from the Matte Black and Media blasted Gunmetal the other versions have a metallic sheen. The RTA is 25mm at the base but tapers outwards so the top section is 26mm and the bulge glass (standard edition) increases it's overall diameter further. Its around average height but due to it's girth does seem a short stumpy RTA. Apart from very slight difference in styling to the top section it's identical to the Zeus X with the Zeus logo visible on the outer chamber and "ZEUS" written in metallic on the reverse of the chamber. The base section has grooved texturing for grip and "GEEKVAPE" is carved into the airflow control ring which accommodates large dual Cyclop slots. The top cap has knurling for grip which then slopes and steps to a low profile Black delrin 810 drip tip. The base has all the usual branding and safety marks and the Gold plated 510 protrudes quite a way. Nothing at all to complain about with the build quality it's the same standard as the other Zeus family members. ___________________________________________________________________ Zeus X Mesh Specs and Features: Size: 25mm x 47.8mm Capacity: 4.5ml/2ml Type: Mesh Coil RTA Drip Tip: 510/810 Top-to-side airflow eliminates leakage Postless mesh build deck for easy building Build deck switchable with GeekVape Zeus X RTA Simplified refill system for quick access Support 810 and 510 drip tip Thread: 510 Colours: Gun Metal, Stainless Steel, Blue, Wine Red, Black, Gold, Green, Red & Black, Rainbow ___________________________________________________________________ It's Various Parts Starting at the top we have a removable very low profile 810 drip tip which can be swapped for the also low profile (but not quite as low) included ultem drip tip or one of your own, well actually that's with the sample version but the retail version includes a 510 option instead (see picture below). The top-cap screws off as does the base section. The 4.5ml bubble glass can be wiggled free very easily and can be replaced with the straight 3.5ml glass (the TPD version comes with 2ml glass only but you do get a spare). The airflow control ring can also be easily removed which leaves the juice port and airflow intake section with attached chamber. Unlike most RTA's that's not it, when looking inside the chamber the wall looks slightly stepped which is because their is an inner chamber that fits tight against the outer wall. The inner chamber is removable and is just press fitted into place secured with an o-ring when the very top of the chamber enters the air pipe. ___________________________________________________________________ Included Mesh Again this is a sample version and the contents i have listed come from a vendors site which differs from what i received. I received 2 strips of N80 0.17ohm mesh and 2 strips of KA1 0.2ohm mesh and 4 6mm x 6mm shoelace cotton. ___________________________________________________________________ Filling The top-cap is less than half a turn and it's off, it's the same bayonet design Geekvape have used previously. Once off the 2 kidney shaped fill ports are revealed which are quite narrow and recessed down so large nozzles and glass droppers won't fit but most standard nozzles will be fine. Luckily there is quite a deep channel between the edge of the tank and air pipe section so it won't be too messy if using larger nozzles, just time consuming. Once filled just position the bayonet tabs in place push down and give it a slight turn. ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow The Zeus X Mesh has the signature Zeus top airflow with large dual airflow slots that are fully adjustable. You also have an inner chamber which gets press fitted into place but the air is better directed than the usual double walled system. With the airflow slots open you can look inside the chamber and clearly see the light from the openings of the airflow slots and a steep ramp (same both sides) where the air is angled downwards, you line the airflow holes on the inner chamber up with these angled ramps when press fitting into place so the air comes through your airflow slots and is directed straight through these holes on the inner chamber. On that inner chamber which sits over your build we have two rows of 5 and 4 holes either side that directs air to the sides of the mesh and a further 5 (either side) on the sharply tapered ceiling which directs air to the top of the mesh. As mentioned the inner chamber airflow system is the same as on the Zeus X but it gives perfect coverage of the mesh so not laziness but someone having the foresight to realise the exact same design would work for a mesh build. There are 2 notches on the side of the deck (one each side) and also on each side on the inner chamber their is cutouts to match. When fitting the tank together the deck will not screw on to the outer chamber until the cutouts on the inner chamber have interlocked with the notches on the deck ensuring the airflow will be positioned correctly. The inner chamber when in place reduces the space and the ceiling tapering quite sharply from a low start is a tried and tested design that encourages flavour. ___________________________________________________________________ Interchangeable Bases A big thing has been made about the fact the base sections with deck are interchangeable between the Zeus X and Zeus X Mesh but what real advantage does that have? The answer is i have already seen just the Zeus X Mesh base section on some vendors sites so no doubt the Zeus X base will also become available. This means those that already have the Zeus X need only buy the base and those that purchase the Zeus X mesh but don't have the Zeus X will be able to buy just the Zeus X base to use with their Zeus X Mesh Tank! ___________________________________________________________________ Using Mesh In An RDA (and now RTA) Issue Mesh is becoming the way to go with stock coils upping the flavour and giving coils more longevity but mesh RDA's were not met with the same enthusiasm being inconsistent with flavour and renowned for dry hits. Mesh gives great flavour, yes that's just my opinion but it is an opinion shared with countless others but the mesh needs total contact with the wicking material and a combination of the flexible mesh and cotton which expands, then shrinks as it dry's and also can sag and change shape as it's constantly expanding, shrinking and sagging means with all the best will in the world trying to keep cotton touching the entire surface area of the mesh was a big problem. It has worked perfectly with stock coils as the cotton is packed between the mesh and the outer shell of the coil head so the cotton always covers the mesh surface area, But then came along the solution! ___________________________________________________________________ Spring Loaded Ceramic Seat Mr JustRight1 came up with the perfect solution, which was introduced with the Profile RDA which is a Spring loaded Ceramic seat which sits directly underneath where the Mesh domes over from post to post. The Ceramic seat pushes the cotton against the mesh and as the cotton expands, then shrinks etc the ceramic constantly pushes the cotton against the mesh with the spring allowing it to lower or raise to achieve this. Mr JustRight1's Ceramic seat now seems to be used in every mesh RDA and RTA design and i bet he wishes he had $1 for every ceramic seat used but then again if his Jewellery is real then he probably does! ___________________________________________________________________ The Deck and Build The Deck is very simple with a vertical sitting clamp each side for the end of your mesh to slide into and of course the now obligatory spring loaded ceramic seat between. We have phillip head grub screws on the sides, so simply loosen the screws, slide your mesh ends evenly in place and tighten the screws, it's that easy. Like with the other mesh RTA's we have seen you are supplied with a simple tool to bend the mesh around before fitting, it bends the mesh to the perfect shape (the simple ideas are always the best). Before wicking pulse your mesh at low wattage (25W max) to burn off any residue from manufacture. When it comes to wicking is were the Zeus X mesh comes into it's own compared to the competition because it's straightforward. You are supplied with 6mm x 6mm shoelace cotton which is four times the mass of cotton in the standard 3mm x 3mm shoelace cotton so essentially you use twice as much cotton than with a dual coil build. Once you feed the cotton underneath the mesh leave your ends long enough to feed down into the GTA style channels but not long enough that they will touch the floor of the tank as you need e-liquid to flow underneath for good wicking. This wicks better than the Unity or Kylin Mesh so don't thin out your ends even though it feels like you are really packing the cotton in the channels more than what would usually be advised, this is because if you thin out the cotton you could get flooding. The channels are large enough that as long as liquid can flow freely underneath the capillary action doesn't get choked off with the cotton packed down. That's it, just normal wicking you would do on any GTA type deck just don't thin your cotton ends. Just one thing worth mentioning about the deck is the spring loaded ceramic seat has a much stiffer spring than on other RDA's and RTA's which have one, making it much less flimsy, it just feels better made! ___________________________________________________________________ Performance I just can't fault it, i really can't apart from it's slightly on the loud side but it's smooth enough. The flavour just pops especially with the N80 mesh and both supplied mesh types gave a really wide flavour range for example the N80 vaped really well even if reduced cloud as low as 30W and i took it right up to chain vaping for 2 mins at 80W and the vape was still saturated and full of flavour, the KA1 mesh performed similar but the N80 just edged it for me. It just seems RTA's like the Profile Unity have turned out to be over engineered as this is just a straightforward build and wick on a GTA stle deck yet it out performs both the Unity and Kylin Mesh by quite a margin with the added bonus of having a leak resistant top airflow! I received this way back and initially tried it with both an N80 and KA1 build but delayed the review because the release date was delayed, before writing the review i did my second N80 build to familiarise me back with the tank (remind me how good it is) and when i used it before and over the last couple of days i just have had no issues whatsoever, It's a winner! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Well made Good colour options Reasonable capacity Plenty included Bayonet style top-fill Top airflow (leak resistant) Flavour for days Smooth airflow Wicks like a dream No flooding (don't thin cotton ends) Straightforward build and wick Included 510 & 810 drip tips (retail version) Best quality ceramic seat yet Interchangeable base with Zeus X Base available separately Best mesh RTA to date Cons Slightly loud Using glass droppers to fill will be time consuming I would once again like to thank Clay from GeekVape for supplying the Zeus X Mesh RTA for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  6. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Ladon 225W TC Box MOD from Smoant. The Ladon 225W TC Box MOD was supplied for the purpose of this review by Jessi from Smoant. Introduction A couple of years ago dual battery box mods were being churned out at the sort of rate we now see pods, pod mods and AIO devices but now a release draws real attention especially when it's from a manufacturer with Smoant's reputation which i find well deserved. The Ladon 225W TC Box Mod is one of two devices just released by Smoant, the other being the Knight 80 which i have already reviewed. The Ladon is a compact dual 18650 device which comes with Type C USB and boasts safe balanced charging at 2A. Hosting all the usual modes including a full TC suit and with both a unique aesthetic look and exceptional build quality let's give the Ladon TC Box Mod a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x Smoant Ladon MOD (no batteries) 1 x Type-C Cable 1 x User Manual 1 x Warranty Card 1 x Certificated 1 x Battery Warning Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics After really liking the pictures of this device it didn't disappoint when it arrived, it's unique aesthetics and build quality gets top marks from me. When you like the look of a device so much it's hard to imagine some people may not like it but i can see those more into their plain looking devices may not like it's busy appearance. I received the Rainbow version, it's available in Rainbow, Black & Red, Stainless Steel and Full Black. It's construction is Zinc Alloy, SUS304 and it does say Leather referring to the outer side of the back panel and i have seen pictures of two other variants of Leather panels for different colour options, mine comes with a suede feeling material which both sparkles and has iridescent qualities. The device feels a nice medium weight and form factor is one of cut corners and stepped bevelled edging with a centrally positioned raised 25mm 510 platform up top. All colour options have both a Red side rectangular fire button and navigational rocker underneath the large monochrome screen. On the face underneath and part way up either side of the screen we have a mesh plate with horizontal grooves, we also have vertical grooves giving the device nice grip on both sides. For a dual 18650 device the Ladon is compact and is equally comfortable to fire the device with thumb or finger using either hand! ___________________________________________________________________ Ladon Specs and Features: Size: 91.5 x 46.9mm Output Wattage: 1-225W Voltage: 6.0-8.4V TC Mode: NI;TI;SS316;TCR Conversion Rate: 95% Charging: 5V/2A Surface: Zinc Alloy+SUS304+Leather Battery: Dual 18650 batteries(not included) Temperature Range: 200℉--600℉/100℃--300℃ Multiple Protections Balanced safe charging Type C USB Thread: 510 Colours: Rainbow, Black & Red, Stainless Steel, Full Black ___________________________________________________________________ The Kit Option As well as just the Mod which i am reviewing here there is also a kit version which includes a very interesting tank, the Ladon All in One Tank. The Ladon All in One Tank is also available separately and is a Sub-ohm tank which also comes with an RBA which will house both coil and mesh builds! The two stock coils that are included is a 0.16ohm single mesh and a 0.15 dual mesh both of which uses 100% Tea Tree Fiber for their wicking material. The pre-installed Bubble glass gives the tank a 6ml capacity and also included is a 4ml glass and 4ml glass for use with the RBA, i would imagine their will be a 2ml TPD option. The Kit doesn't include the RBA though but purchasing the Tank does, also the RBA with glass can also be purchased separately. I was interested in the tank so researched some others experiences and what i am hearing is the RBA is garbage but the stock coils are amazing, but bear in mind they are best at 80-90W. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Batteries The Ladon accommodates dual 18650 batteries which to install you need to remove the back panel, there is a little notch at the base to get your fingernail into making it easy. The tray has clear orientation labelled in White which i like and the inside of the panel has a protective coating but don't use this as an excuse to use batteries with damaged wraps. The tray doesn't have a battery ribbon but i find enough of the batteries protrude for easy removal so all good! The panel gets secured by 2 top magnets and one large central bottom magnet and it snaps reassuringly in place. There is no battery rattle whatsoever or sidewards movement of the panel but using the hand there is minimal up and down movement but it didn't move during normal use so all in all very happy! ___________________________________________________________________ The Display The device has an 0.96" OLED screen which has nice brightness, is very sharp and well laid out giving all the required information in an uncluttered fashion with everything easy to read. In fact it's the same display as on the Knight 80 just brighter. Top left displays the mode and top right we have the battery status bar. Below is the wattage when in wattage mode, when in TC the temperature is displayed. We then have the voltage which displays watts when in TC and underneath this is the resistance followed by puffs, finally at the bottom is your current vape duration. When a device is dual battery it's much better to have a battery status bar for each individual battery and better still if both are also given as a percentage so just having a single battery status bar and that's it has to go down as a con for me. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Ladon The Ladon is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off, once on pressing + and - together locks the whole device so it also will not fire. The only other combination key press from all working screens is +, - and fire together which resets your puffs. 3 clicks of the fire button causes the mode to blink which now allows the use of the + and - buttons to scroll through the working screens (modes) which are VW, DVW (curves), Ni, Ti, SS and TCR, in the manual their is a full list of TCR setting ranges for various TC wires including Gold. When using curves the + and - alters the wattage for each time segment and fire selects. When using a TC mode then by default the wattage is on auto but fire and + together allows wattage to be set for TC, fire and - together allows you to change temperature unit. Wattage adjusts in point 1 increments from 1W right up to 100W then switches to 1W increments up to the full 225W (it round robins) which despite quite quick scrolling i feel after 20W it should switch to 1W increments but to me that's nothing major, that's it! very easy to navigate. If it sounds familiar it's because apart from the absence of Bypass mode it operates exactly the same as the Knight 80. ___________________________________________________________________ AI Smart Ant Chip & Buck Boost Mode (apparently not) According to the marketing the Ladon has the same AI Smart feature and Buck Boost as the Knight 80 but i really think because it's 90% the same system as the Knight 80 they have simply forgot to omit this, even in the manual it refers to the Ladon having Bypass which it doesn't so Smoant releasing 2 products simultaneously seem to of just made a few errors. With the Knight 80 when an atomiser is attached it gives a recommended from and to wattage for that resistance but that doesn't happen with the Ladon so if it doesn't have the AI Smart feature i assume it also doesn't have the Buck Boost unless this is just voltage boost which the device would have anyway! ___________________________________________________________________ Protections The Ladon has multiple protections and text alerts are displayed on the screen to indicate one kicking in, the protections include: Over Current Protection Over-heating Protection Reverse Polarity Protection Short Circuit Protection Over-time Protection Low Voltage Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging I personally never recommend charging external batteries in the device unless it's your only option but the Ladon does support balanced charging at 2A. We also have Type C USB with Smoant being the first manufacturer to the best of my knowledge to adopt Type C USB for all their devices. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Ladon And Thoughts! It's been a while to see a new dual 18650 device from Smoant and in my opinion it's been worth the wait. The device is up to date as far as hosting Type C USB but other than that there's nothing new but that's not a real criticism of Smoant as in general apart from little *** bits we just haven't really seen any real innovation in a good while. The device's shape and size along with the position of the fire button makes the Ladon very comfortable in either hand using as either a finger or thumb firer. The fire button has a stiffness to it and gives a satisfying click, it fires impressively quickly and every time hit set wattage instantly, a real good performer. Of course under normal conditions the device isn't going to do the full 225W but i went as high as 100W and 100W felt 100W which gives me confidence the device will fair better than most at higher wattage outputs. The curves also worked great and the user interface is as easy as it get's for a device that offers so many modes. The device has 95% efficiency and at 40W a pair of 2600mAh batteries gave me approximately 700 puffs, of course not an exact science as different batteries perform differently and length of puffs vary but i personally found battery life comfortably better than average. Like any device though things could always be better and for starters i really like dual battery devices to both show the status of each individual battery and also give the status as a percentage but all that gets displayed is a single battery status bar icon. Another con for me is point one increments right up to 100W, this is only needed up to 20W max and then should switch to 1W increments, those that vape at mid wattage's will find adjusting wattage a bit sluggish. A couple of other things that don't bother me personally but will others is the errors in information as on the marketing it does say the device as AI Smart wattage but unless the retail version has a firmware upgrade unlike the Knight 80 it doesn't, also in the manual it just copies the operation instructions of the Knight 80 instead of omitting the Bypass Mode which the Ladon doesn't include. Finally is the centrally positioned 25mm platform which will be entirely subjective if it's a con or pro, personally i like it as any atty i would be using would be 25mm or smaller but those into their large tanks will wish the 510 plate sat flush. As already mentioned i never recommend charging in the device but if you are going to i would have much less concerns with this device with Type C USB and balanced charging, the device is also fully firmware upgradeable. ___________________________________________________________________ Likes High build quality Unique look 4 Nice colour options Fire button, nice stiff click Side fire button Bright, sharp well laid out display Comfortable to use, either hand. thumb or finger firer Very user friendly UI Centrally positioned 510 platform Compact device, not too heavy Fires without delay, hit set wattage instantly Worked great in wattage and curves modes TC not tested (Smoant one of the first manufacturers with proprietary chip to pretty much nail TC so don't envisage issues but seek further information if TC user) Battery orientation labelled in White No battery rattle or panel movement during use Efficient, good battery life Type C USB 2A Balanced charging Firmware upgradeable Cons No Innovation (a general criticism with mods, not particularly aimed solely at this device) Battery status only given as 1 battery bar icon Point 1W increments up to 100W, unnecessary making adjustment quite sluggish Errors in marketing and manual Large tanks (over 25mm) will overhang platform I would once again like to thank Jessi from Smoant for supplying the Ladon 225W TC Box MOD for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  7. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the XTRA Pod Kit from Vaporesso. The XTRA Pod Kit was supplied for the purpose of the review by Jessica from Vaporesso. Introduction So many pod devices and they keep coming but their is a place in the market for them especially if they tick the relevant boxes. When i say pod devices i am not talking about the latest Pod Mods or AIO devices but what are more old school now draw activated, direct output devices which house a disposable pod. Responsive switch, refillable, can switch off, decent battery life, MTL and DL draws, good flavour, decent cloud, battery status indication, aesthetically pleasing, well made and ergonomic. That's a lot of boxes that need ticking but the XTRA by Vaporesso ticks them all, let's have a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x VAPORESSO XTRA Battery 1 x MESHED UNIPOD (2ml, 0.8Ω, Pre-installed) 1 x UNIPOD (2ml, 1.2Ω, In Box) 1 x USB Cable 1 x User Manual 1 x Warranty Card 1 x Reminder Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics the XTRA comes in cardboard box packaging with a picture of the device in the colour of choice on the lid. I received the Silver Resin version and again it needs pointing out we are just talking a Resin effect vinyl sticker, the options are Grey, Grey Resin, Silver, Silver Resin, Rainbow and Rainbow Resin. The device is very small especially as it has a 900mAh battery, those of you more knowledgeable than me about batteries will probably be able to work out what battery type has been used but it does appear the device has been kept small by having a cylindrical battery fitted in it's spine which also gives the device quite a unique form factor. We have an opening at the top to allow the fitting of a lanyard (not included) and both the micro USB port and indicator light is positioned on it's outer edge. Moving to the base we have an on/off switch which is recessed into the casing so doesn't interfere with the device standing up, also there is some venting. In a mixture of plain and Resin effect designs i really do like the colour/design options, the main construction is Zinc allow giving a solid yet light device and no issues with build quality. The device is very comfortable to hold as the hand just swallows it up as is the mouthpiece equally as comfortable in the mouth. ___________________________________________________________________ XTRA Specs and Features: Dimensions: 73.9 x 38.2 x 16.7mm POD Capacity: 2ml Battery Capacity: 900mAh Resistance: UNIPOD1.2ohm, MESHED UNIPOD 0.8ohm Output Power: 11W UNIPOD, 16W MESHED UNIPOD Display: Single 3-color LED Indicator Charging Current: DC 5V/1A Comfortable grip with antiskid texture Upgraded Cotton Material for true flavors 900mAh built-in battery for durable vaping Compact and portable Colour/Design: Grey, Grey Resin, Silver, Silver Resin, Rainbow, Rainbow Resin ___________________________________________________________________ The Pods You receive 2 different Unipods which have fixed coils but are refillable. Pre-installed is the pod which houses a 0.8ohm vertical mesh coil and also included is a pod which houses a 1.2ohm regular round wire vertical coil. The easiest way of telling the pods apart is by the colour of the fill bungs with the mesh pod having a Red bung while the regular pod hosts a Grey bung. The pods mouth section is clear as is it's main body so no issues seeing your e-liquid although the level can't be seen when fitted into the device so it does need pulling out from time to time to check the level which is one of only a couple of minor cons for the set-up. The base section of the pods have a central small opening to lead to the membrane switch and large contacts which are big enough not just to line up with the contacts of the device but also to attract the pull of the magnets inside the bay. The fill bung lifts up easy enough and also seals very well so no issues with leaking but the fill port could be bigger. Thin nozzles are fine but larger nozzles cause an airlock so the liquid backs up which can be messy (it's worse with thicker juices), so just check the nozzle you are using also leaves enough space for air to escape before filling, if not decant into something more suitable or really take your time, both pods hold 2ml of e-liquid. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking inside the pods bay we can see the 2 spring loaded contacts with a large magnet either side, centrally we have the membrane switch. The large contacts on the base of the pod as well as the obvious of contacting the devices contacts also are for the magnetic pull which secures the pod in place. The pod fits very securely but with just the mouth section protruding which has quite a slippy surface i found it quite difficult to remove for checking the e-liquid level, nothing major but needs mentioning! ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The XTRA Despite being a simple draw activated device without settings the device does have an on/off button which is recessed into the base of the device. It's 5 clicks to turn the device on or off and both actions are confirmed by the little LED indicator above the USB port cycling through the colours Green, Blue and Red. All you do with the device is take a draw and that's it, so simple! The device does have battery status indication which is shown by what colour the LED indicator lights up when taking a vape: 71% - 100% Green 31% - 70% Blue 0% - 30% Red The battery status can be checked at any time by pressing the on/off button rather than needing to check the light while vaping. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The XTRA And Thoughts! The XTRA is a simple draw activated direct output device. Well i assume it's direct output but it states 11W for the 1.2ohm pod and 16W for the 0.8ohm pod which tells me 3.6V so could be constant 3.6V or it's a 3.6V battery fitted. The problem is i'm not noticing drop off as the battery gets low so can't be sure, but that's a good thing as it doesn't really matter whether it's direct or constant output as the end result is a consistent vape! There may be plenty of pod devices about but the XTRA is a particularly good one with well spaced out battery status indication which can be checked at any time and also having the option of turning the device off. The 1.2ohm pod gives good flavour and worked well with 50/50 nic salts i am testing, but also tested a pods worth of 70VG liquid and it was fine. The draw is very definitely a MTL and what i would consider a mid to loose MTL. The 0.8ohm mesh coil gave even better flavour and has much more of the Caliburn type draw giving the choice of a loose MTL or restrictive DL vape. I used this pod the most trying various ratios of PG/VG and it coped equally well with all of them. The Days of sucking the life out of a draw activated device or needing a primer puff seem long gone as membrane switches have improved and i must say the switch on the XTRA is spot on, firing every time and giving a consistent powerful vape which suits both pods and both MTL and restrictive DL styles. This isn't a device i have used whole days as my main device but more as a secondary device and popping in my pocket when i have gone food shopping over a three week period so judging longevity of coils and battery life isn't the easiest. I have used mainly the 0.8ohm pod which has had many refills of different ratios and it's still going strong so longevity is easily above the average. Battery life is very good with the 0.8ohm pod and excellent with the 1.2ohm coil compared to similar devices, i have no complaints at all! Like with all devices that are released these days i wish it had Type C USB so that will be a con. It supports 1A charging and charges in about 1 hour while supporting pass-through so again no complaints! ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion I am not talking Pod Mods or AIO devices where settings can be changed but when it comes to a simple draw activated device the XTRA is the best one i have used certainly this year! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Well made device Really nice form factor (in my opinion) Aesthetically pleasing finishes (again, in my opinion) Light, portable Ergonomic Battery status indication (3 levels, nicely spaced) Can check battery level at any time On/off button Very responsive switch gives consistent performance Includes 2 pods Pod fits very securely Good flavour both pods (mesh pod edges it) 1.2ohm Pod mid to loose MTL 0.8ohm Pod loose MTL or Restrictive DL Very good battery life compared to similar size devices Charges in just an hour Supports pass-through Cons Need to remove pod to see juice level nothing to grab (quite slippy surface) on pod so can be a little difficult to remove Fill port could be bigger Resin finish just a vinyl sticker Metallic sections on mine shows fingerprints Would prefer Type C USB I would once again like to thank Jessica from Vaporesso for supplying the XTRA Pod Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  8. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the RPM80 Pro Pod Mod Kit from Smok. The SMOK RPM80 Pro Pod Mod Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Ella from Sourcemore. Introduction Smok like it's competition follow up a 40W Pod mod with an 80W version, well in Smok's case 2 80W versions giving the choice of a 3000mAh in-built battery or external 18650. Smok has plenty of critics but i don't review products based on reputation but what i experience with the product in question so that's that out the way! The RPM80 as mentioned has an in-built 3000mAh battery but the device i received is the RPM80 Pro which is taller and accommodates a single 18650, other than that both devices are identical so this review can be used for RPM80 reference also. The RPM80 Pro comes with both an RPM Pod and RGC Pod which houses Nexmesh powered coils and has added adjustable airflow. The Pods are fully visible and only slightly tinted and also has a top-fill method of adding your juice. Other than that the RPM80 is just the RPM40 with twice the available power but does boast a new user interface (screen layout), let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: Standard/US/EU Standard Edition 1 x RPM80 Pro Device 1 x RPM80 RPM Pod ( RPM Mesh 0.4ohm Coil Pre-installed) (5ml) 1 x RPM80 RGC Pod (RGC Conical Mesh 0.17ohm coil powered by nexmesh Preinstalled) (5ml) 1 x USB Cable 1 x User Manual EU 2ml Edition 1 x RPM80 Pro Device 1 x RPM80 RPM Pod ( RPM Mesh 0.4ohm Coil Pre-installed) (2ml) 1 x RPM80 RGC Pod (RGC Conical Mesh 0.17ohm coil powered by nexmesh Preinstalled) (2ml) 1 x cable 1 x User Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The RPM80 Pro comes in typical Smok cardboard box packaging with outer sleeve and on opening i came across my first issue, it's just too tall in my opinion for an 18650 device, the size justifies a 2*700 option. I received the Red Stabilised Wood version which brings me to my next gripe, i obviously knew at the price point we would just be dealing with stickers here and although the designs look very nice, the trend of trying to mislead vapers into thinking they are getting Resin or Stabilised wood finishes when what you really get is cheap stickers covered with a clear plastic has got to stop! The colour/design options are Fluid Gold, Black Stabilised Wood, Red Stabilised Wood, Black Carbon Fiber, Black and White Resin, Fluid Blue, 7-Colour Resin, not a hint of Resin or wood in sight! Despite this the device does seem very well made so not got an issue with what you get but more what some might believe they are getting! Despite it's height like all these pod mods with similar forms it's both ergonomic and a nice portable size and weight! Rather than aesthetically having the same form factor as the RPM40, Vinci series or Herakles the RPM80 Pro is very similar in appearance to the Vaporesso Target PM80. As i tend to do more often these days rather than trying to describe the look of the device i will let the pictures do the talking! ___________________________________________________________________ RPM80 Pro Specs and Features: Size: 118 x 31.5 x 26 mm Battery: single 18650 battery(not included) Output wattage: 1-80W Output voltage: 0.5-4.0V Input voltages: 3.3V-4.2V Resistance range: 0.1-2.5ohm Charging output: 5V/2A Charging Rate RPM80 1.2A Max, RPM80 Pro 1.3A Max Standby current: <200uA Capacity: 5ml/2ml Resistance: RPM 0.4ohm mesh coil(25W) RGC Conical 0.17ohm mesh coil(40-80W) New intelligent IQ-80 chip with functional protections Adopts two pods with two coils SMOK's first pod with adjustable bottom airflow New RGC conical mesh coil powered by nexMesh Top filling design with transparent pod for visible e-juice Colours/Designs: Fluid Gold, Black Stabilised Wood, Red Stabilised Wood, Black Carbon Fiber, Black and White Resin, Fluid Blue, 7-Colour Resin ___________________________________________________________________ The Pods/Cartridges You receive two different pods which on first glance look the same but their is the smallest of difference in size to keep the same 5ml capacity (2ml TPD version) whichever one you use as the RPM and RGC coils are different in size. One pod holds RPM coils and has RPM on the fill bung while the other houses RGC coils and has both RGC on the fill bung but also an attached metal adjustable airflow ring on the base. More about that adjustable airflow later, also on the base of both pods we have 2 large magnets. Moving to the top of the pod it's one piece of Delrin which incorporates the drip-tip so you are stuck with what you get. The pods also have a fill bung on this top section which is great to see so the pod can be filled without moving it from the device. The pods are also lightly tinted but absolutely no issues with visibility of your liquid and filling was both quick and mess free. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Coils You receive both a 0.4ohm RPM mesh coil head which gets push fitted into the RPM Pod and a RGC Kanthal Nexmesh Conical mesh 0.17ohm coil head which also just gets push fitted into place, this time into the RGC pod with airflow adjustment ring. ___________________________________________________________________ Coil Availability All the RPM coil heads are compatible with the RPM pod giving loads of options including the RPM RBA coil head. To date for the RGC pod we have the included 0.17ohm mesh coil head and also an RGC RBA coil head giving a rebuildable option with both pods! ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow On the device towards the top both front and back we have a slot which allows air to the bottom of the pod. The RPM coils have fixed airflow so can only be controlled by the bore of the coil while on the RGC pod we have a control ring that can close down the amount of air getting to the coil (in theory) and it works in a fashion but more about that in the final section! ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking into the pods bay we can see the central Gold plated, spring loaded contacts which are on a raised platform which looks well sealed. To each side we have even higher platforms which house magnets to line up with the magnets on the base of the pod/cartridge. We can also see on both the front and back walls there are slots to allow air to the underside of the pod. The pod/cartridge gets secured by both the magnets and also pressure fitted and is going nowhere, absolutely no movement and very secure. I find the best way of releasing the pod is to get my finger behind the drip-tip and pull forward which lifts the pod free, really good job! ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Battery A single 18650 battery get's fitted via the hatch door on the base of the device. Just slide the door forward and lift up, positive is clearly labelled at the bottom of the tube but negative is marked Black on Black on the underside of the door so not easy to see at all, please White in future Smok! When the door is shut we have no movement or battery rattle whatsoever, a really nice solid door! ___________________________________________________________________ The Display The colour display is very bright and impressively sharp with all the information needed on show. Top left we have "SMOK" then top right we have the battery status bar. Underneath we have the wattage and below this the display is quartered into 4 sections. The sections display top left resistance, top right voltage, bottom left puffs and bottom right time vaped. At the very bottom of the display we have a painting pallet icon followed by 6 different coloured squares in an horizontal row. The main information is in white but some information can be customised to be one of the 6 colours. They are promoting it as a new user interface but as you will find out in the "Operating The RPM80/RPM80 Pro" section it operates exactly the same so really it's just a slight difference in how the information is displayed on the screen. ___________________________________________________________________ Navigating The RPM80/RPM80 Pro The RPM80 and RPM80 Pro devices may have a pod/cartridge that fits to the device but the device operates just like any other variable wattage regulated device. The device is the usual 5 clicks to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on the wattage can be adjusted in 1W increments from 1W to 80W, it does round robin. We do have a number of combination key press features which include pressing fire and left together resets the puff counter and fire and right together moves to the next colour option if you want to change the colour of certain items on the screen, the colours to choose from are Red, Orange, Blue, Magenta, Green and White. Pressing the fire button 3 times locks the whole device so it will not fire, alternatively you can lock just the navigational buttons by pressing them both at the same time. Finally as expected the device has the usual safety protections and if one kicks in a message is displayed on the screen. ___________________________________________________________________ Protections Intelligent Atomiser Recognition Puff Monitoring System 8 Seconds Cut-off Short Circuit Protection Over-heating Protection Low Battery Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging Personally i wouldn't recommend charging in the device but the specs give both a Charging Voltage and Rate that differs so curiosity got the better of me. While charging a battery status bar is displayed and the charge is also shown as a percentage, i also just checked and pass-through is supported. The battery took 2 hours 40 minutes to charge in the device so really the charge rate is 1A. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The RPM80 Pro The RPM40 was my favourite out of the initial 40W pod mods so i had high expectations but feel things have not been executed as well as they might, their is a lot to like but just feel it could of been so much better. I love how well the battery door is executed and how well the pod/cartridge secures, also top-fill is great and 5ml capacity (standard version) is excellent. You are stuck with the non removable drip-tip but it is very comfortable. Up to now the RPM 0.4ohm mesh coil has been my favourite out of all the different coils available for the various pod mods we have seen although i find it's recommended wattage of 25W gives a slightly cool vape so i use it at 30W which is much better delivering more warmth and bags of flavour. I used the RPM pod just to check everything was in order and the RPM coils performance is what i have experienced in the past and all is well. Next to the RGC 0.17 coil head with nexmesh and what a mixed bag i found this to be in conjunction with the adjustable airflow. The first thing i noticed was what a warm vape it gave and i personally only used it at 45W after some experimenting despite it's 40-80W rating. When it came to flavour i have a new pod mod favourite (nexmesh really delivers) but is it worth the baggage? First although we have adjustable airflow plenty of air gets underneath and there is a gap between the airflow control ring and coil head so even when closing the airflow right down i could tell very little difference so i ended up just not even checking it as i got pretty much the same draw whatever it's position. A word of warning if you do want to alter it during vaping leave it a good few minutes after a vape before touching the control ring, it gets red hot as i found out ouch! The other issue is leaking (see picture), i didn't have an issue when checking the RPM coil and didn't have leaking issues with the RPM40 but this RGC pod leaks bad and if having the device in your pocket in anything other than an upright position e-liquid will escape out the airflow slots on the device which can be quite messy. Another issue is even at 45W the pod and drip-tip got uncomfortably hot when chain vaping and at above 50W (remember it's recommended up to 80W) it burnt my lips. The other issue is how long a battery lasted as even though i only used the RGC coil at 45W it ploughed through battery life. Another thing to point out is these pod mods don't have voltage boost which was fine for the 40W renditions but if the RGC coil head was used nearer it's upper wattage recommendation then you can forget what wattage is displayed on the screen as when it comes to performance the device would perform like a direct output device losing power as the voltage of the battery dropped! So the RGC gives great flavour (but too much trade off) so i still much prefer the RPM Pod and included coil. With so many RPM coil options and how well the device performs at modest wattage i still feel many will like this device and it will fly out the door of many vape shops! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Despite misleading marketing some very nice designs Seems well made and durable 2 different pods included (RPM pod and RGC pod) RGC Pod has adjustable airflow (very limited in it's performance) RGC 0.17 coil (using nexmesh) gives excellent flavour RGC coil gave very warm vape RPM 0.4ohm mesh coil still my favourite pod mod coil (very good flavour) Top-fill, fills quick and mess free 5ml Capacity (standard edition) Can clearly see juice level Accommodates 18650 battery Fair battery life with RPM 0.4ohm coil Really good job with battery hatch door Pods fit very securely Comfortable drip-tip Device performed excellently with RPM coil and RGC coil at lower recommended wattage Sharp, bright, well laid out colour display Display colour can be customised Puff counter Cons RGC Pod leaks quite bad Airflow control makes little difference to the draw RGC coil wattage limited (no voltage boost) only 80W with fresh battery then will drop Using above 50W the pod and drip-tip got far too hot Ploughed through battery life with RGC coil in use Very tall for 18650 device (21700 would give even better performance) Some people will be misled into believing they are going to get Resin or Stabwood finish! Black on Black battery orientation on hatch door (hard to see) I would once again like to thank Ella from Sourcemore for supplying the SMOK RPM80 Pro Pod Mod Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  9. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the first of two new devices from Smoant, The Knight 80 which is an AIO or PodMod (whatever terminology you prefer) which due to it's size i have named a ModPod. The Knight 80 was supplied for the purpose of this review by Jessi from Smoant. Introduction The Knight 80 is one of two new devices from Smoant, the other being the Ladon 225W TC dual battery mod. The Knight 80 is an AIO device which is quite substantial in size and is powered by a single 18650 battery. The device has adjustable top to bottom airflow control making it leak resistant and comes with either 4ml or 2ml capacity pods. The Kit includes 2 different coils and a base adapor. Also available in an RBA head and a Pasito base adaptor allowing both the Pasito coils and RBA also to be used. The device has a large OLED display and adjustable wattage from 1 to 80W. Also the device has curves, bypass ans full TC suite making it well worth a good look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: Smoant Knight 80 device Pod 4ml/2ml(TPD) 0.3ohm mesh coil (installed) 0.4ohm dual mesh coil USB cable – type C User manual battery safety card warranty card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Knight 80 comes in a cardboard box with outer cardboard sleeve with a picture of the device in the chosen colour on the front. I received the Black version, the options are Black, Bronze Blue, SS, Tiffany Blue and Night Green. The Knight 80 is quite some size in fact the size of a dual battery mod so certainly not a device i would personally use for out and about as i prefer smaller devices so more of a desktop AIO option in my opinion, but then i do see many vapers out with large devices so it's just a preference. The device is a medium weight, not light but not over heavy and has a Zinc Alloy construction making it a durable device. It's looks will divide opinion, it has a very busy look which i like but those who prefer more plain devices won't be so keen, rather than making a poor attempt to describe it's aesthetic features i will let the pictures do the talking! ___________________________________________________________________ Knight 80 Specs and Features: Size: 90mm*45mm*27mm Battery: Single 18650 (not included) Material: Zinc alloy Surface: Electroplating & CPR patch Screen: 0.96 OLED display Power output: 1-80W Conversion rate: 95% Chipset: AI smart ANT-chip Output Mode:VW, DVW, Bypass (best 0.1-3.0ohm) TC Mode: Ni, Ti, SS316, TCR (best 0.1-2.0ohm) Temperature control range: 100-300℃/200-600℉ Charging: 5V/1A Charging port: Type-C Cartridge Capacity: 4ml/2ml(tpd) Compatible coils: Knight 80 0.3ohm mesh coil(best 50-65W) Knight 80 0.4ohm dual mesh coil(best 30-50W) Knight 80 RBA(best 0.3-2ohm) (sold separately) All Pasito coil (with Pasito adaptor, sold separately) Colours: Black, Bronze Blue, SS, Tiffany Blue, Night Green ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod/Cartridge Like the rest of the device the pod is quite a size and has a rectangular form, up top we have a standard fitting Delrin 510 so you can fit your own if you like. The drip tip fits to a Silver airflow control ring but i will do a separate section covering that. The pod is quite darkly tinted which i personally don't find a con as i have had no issues with three of the pod's sides being entirely visible so can see the juice level no problem and the smoked colour suits the design but others will wish the pod was clear. Looking at the size of the pod you would think it had a huge capacity like 8ml but actually the standard pod holds 4ml of juice while the TPD pod which has the same dimensions but just with more internal plastic holds 2ml. This is due to the leak resistance airflow system so the lower 30% is a void where the adaptor sits and 2 sides of the pod are doubled walled with a cavity between. The side of the pod which fits snug to the wall of the device is where the fill bung can be found which has a flap that's easy to grip to lift up revealing a generous fill port. Filling needs doing with the pod on it's side but with a bit of care it can be filled relatively quickly and mess free, protruding from the top of the pod the same side as the fill port we have a hook which hooks into the device. Moving to the base with the coil and adaptor base installed we have the central positive and negative surround, there is also 2 very strong magnets (one either side). You only receive one pod but it's sturdy and will be good for many coil changes and/or RBA builds, when buying a new pod you get both a 0.3ohm single mesh and 0.4ohm dual mesh coil head included. ___________________________________________________________________ Included Coils You receive 2 different coils, pre-installed is the K1 single mesh 0.3ohm coil which is rated between 50W and 65W and you also get the K2 dual mesh 0.4ohm coil which is recommended between 35W and 50W, not sure of material so i assume Kanthal. The coil head needs to be screwed into the base adaptor and then gets press fitted into the pod. The coil head has 2 thick o-rings and base adaptor another o-ring essentially giving a triple seal. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking at the pods bay we have an indented circular area with beefy Gold plated, spring loaded contacts, the coil head base adaptor fits snugly in this area with all contacts lined up. Either side to correspond with the magnets on the base of the pod we have 2 large magnets and then on the top of the device a slot cutout for the protruding hook on the pod to hook onto the device. The magnets are strong enough to stop this pod going anywhere of it's own accord and the pod also hooking onto the device is said to be a childproof feature, not sure about that but it does make the pod extremely secure and i like the design a lot! ___________________________________________________________________ What's Available? As well as the 2 different coils included there is also a Knight RBA section available which was sent but isn't included. Also there is a Pasito Base adaptor available allowing the Pasito coils and RBA also to be used which gives the device a mid to loose MTL option. ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow The Knight 80 has top to bottom adjustable airflow with the drip tip base section being the airflow control. We have 2 curved slots on the top of the pod with corresponding slots on the bottom of the airflow drip tip base, again lined up we have two slots on the side of the drip tip base which allows the air to enter. The air goes through the slots on the drip tip base and travels down through the slots in the top of the pod. The two sides of the pod that the slots face are double walled which form cavities for the air to travel down into the void area at the bottom of the pod where the base adaptor and bottom of the coil head with airflow opening is situated. The Airflow adjusts well by just turning the drip tip base section from fully open to as closed down as you prefer! ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Battery The Knight 80 accommodates a single 18650 battery and to fit you will find a small notch on the base to lift off the back panel which has an inner plastic lining. The panel secures with magnets very well and it takes some effort to get any sort of movement so it certainly doesn't move during normal use. Orientation is clearly labelled in White, good job! My only issue is the battery sits deep and no battery ribbon is installed making removing the battery a bit tricky. ___________________________________________________________________ The Display The device has an 0.96" OLED screen which is not the brightest, but sharp and well laid out giving all the required information in an uncluttered fashion with everything easy to read. Top left displays the mode and top right we have the battery status bar. Below is the wattage when in wattage, curves and even bypass displays watts here, when in TC the temperature is displayed. We then have the voltage which displays watts when in TC and underneath this is the resistance followed by puffs and finally at the bottom your current vape duration. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Knight 80 The Knight 80 is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off, once on pressing + and - together locks the whole device so it also will not fire. The only other combination key press from all working screens is +, - and fire together, resets your puffs. 3 clicks of the fire button causes the mode to blink which now allows the use of the + and - buttons to scroll through the working screens (modes) which are VW, DVW (curves), Bypass, Ni, Ti, SS and TCR, in the manual their is a full list of TCR setting ranges for various TC wires including Gold. When using curves the + and - alters the wattage for each time segment and fire selects, Bypass is just a case of vaping and it will take the power straight from the battery displaying the wattage that represents. When using a TC mode then by default the wattage is on auto but fire and + together allows wattage to be set for TC, fire and - together allows you to change temperature unit. Wattage adjusts in point 1 increments from 1W to 80W which despite quite quick scrolling i feel after 20W it should switch to 1W increments but to me that's nothing major, that's it! very easy to navigate. ___________________________________________________________________ Protections Low Voltage Protection Reverse Polarity Protection Over-heating Protection Short Circuit Protection 10s Over-vape Protection ___________________________________________________________________ RBA Build The RBA is a separate purchase but one was sent so have tried a couple of builds. It's a single coil RBA with 2 tall posts and decent sized terminals, your leads get fastened from above with Philips grub screws. The airflow outlet is underneath where your coil will be positioned, so bottom airflow and the outlet is a fair size. I have had a 3.0ID fused clapton installed and the pictured build is a 2.5ID Ni80 fused clapton but the airflow, space and terminals will all allow for a 3.5ID coil also if you prefer. Just feed your leads through the terminals positioning the coil above the airflow outlet and then fasten down your leads. Snip your access leads and use a coiling rod or fit for purpose tool to adjust the coils position if needed. Leave your cotton ends long enough to fill the side channels, to get the cotton to stay in the channels while screwing the sleeve over it's much easier if you apply some e-liquid, overall a very easy build! ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Knight 80! Cons for this AIO device are mainly subjective and only the ones i find an issue with will i put in the cons list because others are not cons for me personally. First is it's size, most who like their pod mods and/or AIO devices like their portability and would probably use single battery standard devices also when out and about, yes this is a single battery device but i have dual 18650 devices that are smaller. For me personally i love the device but as a desktop device as it's just not portable enough for me personally for walking around with. Another con for some but not me as i have had no issues seeing the juice level will be the tinted pod which some would prefer to be clear. Their is nothing wrong with the fill method as it's quick and mess free, the port gets sealed tight and had no escaping e-liquid but i still would prefer not having to remove the pod from the device to fill. The device needs a battery ribbon, getting my battery out has resulted in a bit of blasphemy at times so a real con for me and the only other thing is i really think both the RBA and Pasito adaptor should be included in the kit, after saying that they aren't expensive and the kit it'self i am seeing around the $25 mark which is fantastic value. Now for the pro's, and first is it's leak resistance design, i have suffered not even a hint of escaping e-liquid it's a really nice clean device to use! The airflow control works well but with the included coil heads and Knight RBA it gives just various amounts of direct lung restriction, for any kind of MTL vape you will need to get the Pasito adaptor and use the Pasito coils and RBA. The performance of the device isn't in doubt and having loads of modes is a real plus, it fires instantly and as worked 100% reliably during testing. As well as the Ant Chip it says it also as a Buck boost chip which to be honest other than boosting voltage to maintain wattage when the battery voltage has dropped which is something a variable power device should do anyway i really am non the wiser and am not going to pretend i understand something i don't! When installing a coil it first gives you a wattage range it's suitable to vape at which i really like as the chip isn't just programmed to recognise the Knight and Pasito coils and gives a range to match their recommendations but also gives a range suitable for any build done in either of the RBA's so very smart! Both included coils vaped similar and gave sub-ohm stock coil flavour with the dual mesh K2 just having the slightest more restriction. The pre-installed K1 single mesh i found best at 55W but while testing it wicked fine up to the 70W mark so it's just were you get the balance between flavour and warmth to suit you, the K2 coil i found best at 40W, both are DL but with the adjustable airflow restriction can be tailored to suit. The Knight RBA gave even more air than the included coil heads but again you can restrict it with the airflow control. I found the build to be a doddle and have been getting RTA flavour! The pictured 0.68ohm build which is what i'm rocking at the moment seemed slightly muted at 18W but once bumped up to 25W and airflow closed down to only a quarter open it's now singing. my previous build was a 0.3ohm Kanthal fused clapton 3.0ID which gave even more impressive flavour. The final pros is how efficient the device is, battery life is great, far better than expected for a single 18650 device and It has Type C USB. The charge rate is only 1A but as i wouldn't recommend charging the battery in the device anyway i'm fine with that. ___________________________________________________________________ Like Really nice looking (entirely subjective) Very well designed Good build quality Plenty of colour/design options Leak resistant Adjustable top to bottom airflow DL (does offer MTL option with Pasito coils and RBA) Standard 510 drip tip fitting (use your own) Refillable Replacement coils Includes 2 coils Both coils give sub-ohm stock coil flavour RBA available RBA, easy build, experiencing RTA flavour Pod/Cartridge fit's very securely Compatible with Pasito coils and RBA with Pasito adaptor (separate purchase) Nice sized, well laid out display VW, DVW(curves), Bypass, Ni, Ti, SS, and TCR modes Puff counter (can be reset) Fired without delay, performed excellently AI Smart wattage (gives recommended wattage range) Buck Boost? No idea really! Accommodates 18650 battery Battery panel, no movement Very efficient, experienced excellent battery life for single 18650 Type C USB (1A charge rate!) Very good price Cons Large single 18650 device No battery ribbon installed Being able to fill without removing pod would of been preferable Adjusts in point 1 increments right up to 80W With how much marketing is geared towards both the RBA and being able to use the Knight with Pasito coils then i feel at least the RBA and Pasito adaptor should be included in the kit I would once again like to thank Jessi from Smoant for supplying the Knight 80 for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  10. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Neon 80W TC Kit from DEJAVU. The DJV Neon 80W TC Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Linky from Sacowin who is the parent company. Introduction The DJV brand is the brain child of Malaysian Youtuber and Vape Trickster Adrian Lo Dejavu. Being a Vaper his products try to deliver what vapers actually want and quite often offer something a little extra from the norm. The Neon Mod is a single 18650 80W device with Wattage, TC, Voltage and Curve modes. Its chassis is made of thick ABS giving a nice balance between being sturdy, having nice hand feel while being lightweight. The mod is paired with the Neon Tank which is both compatible with Smok Cloud Beast coils but also offers an RBA single build option turning it into an RTA. All packaged in a very convenient (many uses could be found for it) carry zip case, let's give the DJV Neon Kit a good look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x DEJAVU Neon MOD 1 x DEJAVU Neon Tank (4.5ml) 0.3ohm Coil 1 x RBA 1 x Fused Clapton 1 x Extra Glass Tube 2.5ml Spare o-rings, grub screws etc 1 x Lanyard Tag 1 x USB Cable Stickers 1 x Warranty Card 1 x User Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Kit comes in large cardboard packaging and on opening you receive a very handy zipped carry case with everything neatly packed inside. Some pictures on the Internet show the device as quite colourful and all those pictures are the device with added stickers which you do receive but the device it'self comes in plain White or Black, i received the White version. A plastic device and high build quality isn't something usually that sits well together but DJV have nailed it here with very thick ABS which i'm still keep checking the internet to finally find out it's actually metal of some sort as it feels such high quality and solid. Both sides have the DJV logo indented into the ABS and where the top meets the spine we have a small opening to receive a lanyard if that's your thing. The Face of the device has a Black panel which includes central tinted screen, above the screen is a square fire button and below 2 smaller square navigational buttons that sit side by side, at the bottom is the micro USB port. On the base we have some manufacturing information and old school battery plate, then up top a small 510 plate that sits flush with Gold plated, spring loaded 510. The device is quite lightweight and portable enough to be suitable for out and about, it's a box shape but all edging is curved and while being smaller than a dual battery device it does need pointing out that it's larger than most single battery devices! ___________________________________________________________________ DEJAVU Neon Tank Specs and Features Size: 28 x 45mm Capacity: 4.5ml/2.5ml Coil: Mesh 0.3ohm Coil RBA Coil: Single Coil Bottom Airflow TFV8 V8 Coil Compatible Top-fill Thread: 510 Colour: Black ___________________________________________________________________ Neon Tank Overview The Neon Tank is bringing a bit more than just being a kit tank to the table as it's a very well made tank which i have really enjoyed testing and having the included RBA puts the icing on the cake. The tank is quite short and with the bubble glass is 28mm at it's widest point with the base being 24mm. With the DJV mesh coil the capacity with the bubble glass is 4.5ml and 2.5ml with the straight glass but with the RBA chamber being larger than the coil i would estimate 4ml and 2ml when using the RBA. The tank has top-fill with central threading so simply unscrew off the air pipe, the perimeter of the top-cap fits over both the fill plate and thick o-ring for a really good seal. It does mean unscrewing and then screwing the top-cap back in place after filling takes more time than the more popular bayonet method but like with any cons with this whole kit most will find quite petty. The fill plate has a walled perimeter as well as 3 kidney shaped fill ports so filling with any type of nozzle is a mess free experience. The drip tip is a smoked Goon fitting 810 which is rather nice but you can fit one of your own if you prefer. The airflow control ring is tri cyclops delivering plenty of air to the base of the coil. The included coil i assume is Kanthal as that spec is not given and is a 0.3ohm single mesh coil with a rating between 20W and 40W. Another bonus is TFV8 V8 (Cloud Beast) coils also are compatible giving even more options. ___________________________________________________________________ Included RBA And Build RBA's can be hit or miss but the one included here is superb and i would consider it to be more of an RTA conversion. The deck section gets screwed into the base which now gives you a floating deck. On one side we have 2 tall posts with generous sized terminals, your leads get fastened from above by screws at the top of the posts. Opposite the posts we have a lower arced airflow wall with 2 rows of honeycomb airflow, we also have an airflow outlet directly underneath where the coil will sit. Because the airflow wall is lower than the posts the leads can be placed through the post holes easily without trimming first and then just slide the coil over the airflow wall so it can drop into position. Then simply fasten down and snip your leads and use a coiling rod or fit for purpose tool to position the coil exactly in the position you want, comparing it to other RBA's their is plenty of room and the build isn't fiddly at all, in fact i found it a doddle! The supplied coil again i can only assume is Kanthal as no specs are given but it's a fused Clapton with 3.0ID but larger coils will fit no problem, my build came out at 0.29ohm. Wicking is simple being a floating deck, just cut your cotton ends long enough to poke into the channels without letting them hit the base of the tank. When the sleeve gets screwed onto the deck which then also screws onto the air pipe when the tank is screwed together a reduced chamber is formed, now simply fill the tank and you are ready to rock! ___________________________________________________________________ Neon Mod Specs and Features: Size: 45 x 26 x 83mm Battery: 1 x 18650(excluded) Output Power: 5-80W Resistance Range: 0.1ohm-3.0ohm TC Modes Supports: SS316/Ni200/Ti Display: 0.96 IPS colour screen MOD Material: ABS Temperature Range: 200℉-600℉/ 100℃-300℃ Charging Parameters: DC 5V/2A Input Voltage: 3.2-4.2V Output Voltage: 1-8.0V Working Mode: Power, Temp, Curve, Voltage Thread: 510 Colour: Black, White ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Battery The device accommodates a single 18650 battery which gets fitted by unscrewing the old school style battery plate on the base of the device. The plate has a central bar which can be used to unscrew with ease and the threading is nice and smooth. Orientation is marked on the underneath of the plate in Black on Silver so clearly visible and personally i still like this style of fitting a battery as no chance of damaging the wrap, good job! ___________________________________________________________________ The Display The Screen does have a tinted cover but the display is both bright and sharp and also both the brightness and colour can be altered in the menu. Central top we have the mode then underneath this the wattage, voltage or temperature depending which mode you are in. Next we have the resistance then underneath the voltage unless in voltage mode which then displays wattage instead. Below voltage is the pre-heat and then we have a colour palette vape time progress bar and finally at the bottom an elongated battery status bar. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Neon On a couple of pictures on the Sacowin website if shows the device with a Puff Counter but i have been using the device on and off for 3 weeks and just can't find a puff counter or anyway to activate one anywhere, also no mention in the manual so i assume it was originally going to have one but then their was a change of plan. The device is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on + and - together locks the navigational buttons but the device will still fire. 3 presses of the fire button brings up the menu all on just one screen where you can scroll through the items and fire selects. We first have the 4 modes which are Wattage, TC, Voltage and Curves and then we have brightness followed by a colour palette bar to choose the colour of the information on the screen between Green, Yellow, Red, Blue or White, Exit is at the bottom which takes you back to the working screen. When in wattage mode pressing + and fire together causes the pre-heat to blink allowing it to be changed between Normal, Soft or High. Voltage mode is simply a case of altering the voltage, in TC mode pressing + and fire together allows you to choose which TC wire you are using. Also in TC mode pressing - and fire together allows you to change between temperature unit and wattage to set your wattage for temp control. When using curves + and fire allows you to select between M1, M2 and M3 and - and fire together brings up the 5 second curve for you to set simply by using the navigational buttons to adjust and fire to select. That's it! plenty of mode options and some customisation available while still keeping operating the device relatively simple! ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience And Thoughts! Apart from the device not having Type C USB, not having a quicker bayonet fitting top-cap making filling very quick and it being quite large for a single 18650 device their really isn't a lot to find fault with and certainly in my opinion no glaringly obvious deal breakers. I suppose unless there is going to be a firmware upgrade adding a puff counter that could be if a puff counter is important to you but that's all as far as i can tell. The device is a real consistent performer, i didn't test TC as i don't have the equipment to give detailed information but wattage, voltage and curve modes all worked great, it fires instantly with immediate ramp up, it just impressed me all round! The Neon Tank doesn't let the device down, loads of smooth airflow if that's what you like but it closes down for whatever restriction you prefer while remaining smooth throughout. The supplied 0.3ohm mesh coil i found best with just a third of the airflow open at 30W and the cloud for just 30W is quite amazing and no flavour trade off as it's easily above average. Having compatibility with Cloud Beast coils also gives more options which can't be a bad thing. As mentioned the RBA as good as turns the Neon into a single coil RTA with floating deck, the build and wicking was a doddle and the included fused clapton which came out at 0.29ohm i found i only needed 25W for a cloud chucking flavour banger! very impressed. Because of the bevelled edging over 24mm atty's won't look perfect and over 26mm will just look wrong so not suitable for large atty's but then it's a 80W device so again not really an issue. Although i personally never recommend charging your batteries in the device unless it's your only option it does support 2A charging and is also firmware upgradeable. ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion Very good mod, very good tank, excellent kit! Will need to decide on retiring a set-up in my rotation as this will be added! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Best build quality ABS device i have tested Solid and durable Can decorate with included stickers Loads included Comes in handy Zip carry case Portable and quite light No sharp edges Wattage, TC, Voltage and Curve modes Sharp, bright display, brightness can be adjusted Screen colour can be changed Fires instantly with immediate ramp up Old school battery plate, orientation clearly marked Proving to be consistent reliable performer Easy to operate Very high quality included tank Supplied coil gave above average flavour and loads of cloud Tri cyclops delivers plenty of airflow Smooth airflow across the board Cloud Beast coil compatible Impressive RBA (more like an RTA conversion) Very easy build and wick Included 3.0ID Fused clapton 0.3ohm Great flavour and loads of cloud at just 25W with build Spare straight glass Supports 2A charging Firmware Upgradeable Cons Quite large for single 18650 device Long threading on top-cap No puff counter (not an issue for most) Not Type C USB Only up to 24mm fit perfectly (although up to 26mm look ok) I would like to thank Linky from Sacowin for supplying the DEJAVU Neon 80W TC Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  11. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Aegis Pod Kit 800mAh from Geekvape. The Aegis Pod Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Clay from Geekvape. Introduction Apart from an Aegis Vape Pen and Mech (both doubtful) The Aegis Pod Kit completes the clean sweep of Aegis devices now giving those that like to just press a fire button and vape an IP67 rated option. Both front and back has a central strip of the signature leather with stitching giving this rather large simple pod device an unmistakable Aegis look. The device has type C USB, 1.5A charging and three tiers of battery status indication. Giving an 18W constant output with it's 0.6ohm Mesh G-coil (to be the coils used in similar future devices to keep compatibility) the device gives a restricted DL vape and emphasis on "VERY", a "very" loose MTL if you prefer. The pods hold 3.5ml of e-liquid (have seen the device on pre-order in UK so must also be a TPD solution). With it's durable, rugged, yet aesthetically pleasing design and in-built 800mAh battery, let's give the Aegis Pod Kit a good look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x Geekvape Aegis Pod Device 800mAh 1 x Pod Cartridge 3.5ml 2 x 0.6ohm KA Mesh G-Coil 1 x Coil Removal Spanner 1 x USB Cable 1 x User Manual 1 x Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Aegis Pod Kit come in typical cardboard box with sleeve packaging with a picture of what was obviously an earlier prototype of the device on the sleeve, so i expect the retail packaging will be different. I received the Gunmetal version, the colour options are Beetle Black, Gunmetal, Silver Chafer and Tamamushi, a good choice of options that suit the classy aesthetic look as i really don't feel bright colours will suit the device. The device has a flat form factor with the face and back having a pleasing to the eye shape which would perform well in a wind tunnel. The main chassis is Zinc Alloy with silicone edges and on both the face and rear a central strip of padded leather with stitching (all very Aegis). Incorporated towards the top of the front leather section we have a rhombus protruding fire button with rectangular central LED indicator. Most of the pod protrudes and although tinted is not dark, moving to the base we have a Type C USB port. Out of all the simple just press and vape pod devices the Aegis Pod without doubt has the best build quality and despite only being 73g still feels a quality device when handled. ___________________________________________________________________ Aegis Pod System Specs and Features: Dimension: 88.1*40.3*18mm Shell material: Plastic + silicone + leather + zinc alloy Power range: Constant power output MAX 18W Resistance range 0.4ohm-3ohm Battery Indicator: Green (100-70%) Blue (69-31%) Red (30-0%) Battery Charging indicator: Green light 70-100%, red light 0-69% Battery capacity: 800mAh Charger specification: Type-C 5V/1.5A Low voltage protection: 3.2V+-0.1V Maximum output voltage: 4.2V Lower power standby: Quiescent current <25uA Maximum puff time: 10s High temperature protection: 80c E-liquid capacity: 3.5ml Charging Port: USB Type-C port IP67 Rated Colours: Beetle Black, Gunmetal, Silver Chafer, Tamamushi ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod You receive one pod which holds 3.5ml of e-liquid but as this is already on pre-order on some UK sites i would imagine their is also a TPD version. The pod is tinted but not darkly and also with so much of the pod protruding outside the device seeing the e-liquid inside posed me no problems at all. Looking at the base of the pod we can see as well as the main pod body we also have a second wall both sides which is part of how the pod secures and on one of these walls we have some vertical cutouts to allow air to the base of the coil. To one side we have a bung which lifts easily but sits deep giving a good seal, this stays attached to the pod when lifted and revealed is a large fill port so no issues with nozzle size. When filling just be aware that the pod will fill one side before starting to work it's way to the other so start slow and once the liquid as evened out then you can quicken to complete the fill. I had zero issues when filling and was completely mess free but just take your time at the start and not go gun-go else it could result in a mess. ___________________________________________________________________ The Coil Heads You receive 2 identical coil heads which are Kanthal Mesh 0.6ohm and a new G-Coil which is going to also be used with some future products giving compatibility. Looking at the coils they don't really look like they perform with small wicking holes that made me think 50/50 suitable only (i was wrong) and more of a MTL bore (although not supertight) but again a lot more air than expected. The coils just get press fitted into place but the o-rings give a very tight seal and although the air enters via the base of the coils the slots are quite narrow so any escaping e-liquid should be minimal. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking inside the Pod Bay we can see two negative and central positive bent over prongs that protrude out of a raised silicone seal as even the pod bay is IP67 rated. The sides have a couple of protruding tabs and also to line up with protruding rails on the front and back of the pod we have indented slots on the front and back of the bay walls. It's quite complex and difficult to explain but the result is the pod clicks into place very securely with no movement whatsoever and what a relief you don't need to remove the pod to see the juice level as it takes quite an effort to remove! ___________________________________________________________________ IP67 Rating The Aegis Pod Device has the same IP67 rating as the other Aegis devices which also includes the pod bay so will survive drops, knocks or dropping in the bath etc. The Type C USB port is open but on closer inspection the board with pins protrude from out of a sealed silicone section sealing the device it'self. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Aegis Pod Device The Aegis Pod is a very simple device that can be turned on or off with 5 clicks of the fire button. Turning off is confirmed with two flashes of the LED in the colour of the current battery status and turning on is confirmed with 3 flashes, just be aware when pressing five times to turn off however quickly you do it the device will fire as this fires with no noticeable delay whatsoever! Once on simply press the fire button to vape and that's it! The device gives a constant output of 18W and when trying to work out exactly what is going on in conjunction with checking my sums it seems the device is actually direct output but gives a constant 18W by having a wattage cap so it delivers initially whatever the battery has (direct output) but then the chip limits the power. This means even at 3.2V 18W is given as this is what 3.2v with a 0.6ohm coil gives and once the battery falls below where it can no longer give 18W being direct output that's as it goes below the 3.2V cut-off so it's time to charge, of course as well as having the benefit of consistent power throughout the 18W limit will also help with battery life. I can understand some thinking why not draw activated as a constant wattage would suit it but then this is an Aegis and a membrane switch would compromise the IP67 rating. The device does have battery status indication which is shown by what colour the LED lights when the fire button is pressed: Green = 70 - 100% Blue = 31 - 69% Red = 0 - 30% The device also has all the usual safety protections which if they kick in are indicated by various flashes from the LED. ___________________________________________________________________ Charging I am pleased that the device has Type C USB and the charge rate is 1.5A, the device charges in just over half an hour which is fantastic while also supporting pass-through. Normally i don't like the position of the USB being on the base of the device but as this is a device that lies down anyway then on this occasion it makes no difference, some might point out it can actually stand up but let's be honest even the draught from a feather would see it toppling! While charging the LED breathes Red from 0% to 69% charge and then breathes Green between 70% to 100% charge, once fully charged the LED lights solid Green. ___________________________________________________________________ How I Found The Device And Thoughts! There are plenty of all singing and all dancing devices available and the latest pod mods that are getting more powerful and sophisticated so i am simply judging the Aegis Pod on what it is which is a simple press to vape pod device. First is the draw and the Aegis Pod can't be classed as a MTL device it just has too much air although for those that like a very loose MTL that's perfectly doable. The device is really a restricted DL device like so many of the pod mods that are available and what i like about it is the strong warm consistent vape with plenty of cloud which sets this apart from most of the other simple pod devices that are much less powerful. The flavour doesn't have a wow factor but is on par and perfectly acceptable but the flavour is pretty much from the off with very little if any break-in period. Geekvape claim 4 3.5ml refills of optimal flavour and i assume they mean after the initial full pod as my experience was even better as i got 6 pods full and for most of the 6th pod full the flavour was still as good as the first, the flavour then did fall off a cliff but 20ml for a coil is well above average for a pod device. It does mention Nic Salts in the marketing and people can vape what they like but i personally wouldn't recommend nic salts at 18W and how much air the device gives again is more suitable for freebase. Despite the small wicking holes i used 70VG e-liquid and it wicked with no problem even when testing a bit of chain vaping. Even the pod bay is IP67 rated but apart from towards the end of the coils life where i got just slight wetness (not pooled barely anything) which was so minimal it could easily be condensation for the most part the bay remained dry. With the device having an 18W cap didn't just give the device a consistent vape throughout but also helped battery life as the chip was basically only allowing 3.2v for the entire time until the voltage dropped below 3.2v and then the device needed charging. After saying that 18W with a 800mAh battery isn't an all day device for a moderate vaper but still not shabby for what it is, a simple portable pod mod and when compared to similar it fairs very well. The e-liquid can be easily seen at all times and 3.5ml is a good capacity, would prefer a top-fill method but with a bit of care taken the pod fills mess free and seals very well (had no leaking from fill port). Finally although most would need to charge this at least once during the day if it's their only device it takes just 35 minutes to fully charge while also supporting pass-through. ___________________________________________________________________ Likes High build quality Good hand feel Has that reassuring Aegis look Portable (even if bigger than similar devices) 4 Classy colour options Pod fits very securely Can clearly see juice level Fills mess free Had no leaking issues IP67 Rating Powerful warm vape for type of device Constant 18W Battery life compares well to similar devices Mouthpiece comfortable Restrictive direct lung / very loose MTL if preferred Flavour on par Above average coil longevity (20ml) Next to no break-in period Coils compatible with future products 3 Tier battery status indication Type C USB Nice protruding fire button (responds instantly) Charges from empty to full in just 35 mins Supports pass-through Cons More coil options would be preferable Fixed airflow No power adjustability Takes quite a tug to remove pod (petty) Bottom fill Battery not big enough to last all day I would once again like to thank Clay from Geekvape for supplying The Aegis Pod System Kit 800mAh for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  12. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Herakles Pod Mod Kit from Sense. The Sense Herakles Pod Mod Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Ella from Sourcemore. Introduction Sense originally known for their series of Herakles sub-ohm tanks have been very much part of the pod/AIO scene since it's invasion of the vaping market. The Smok RPM with flashy lights, i mean the Herakles pod mod really is so similar looking to the Smok RPM40 which also brings advantages as the Smok RPM coils are interchangeable. The LED's i like as although LED's on vaping devices is nothing new we now have a pod mod option for those into their colourful LED's. A TPD version is on it's way and the standard version has a whopping 6ml capacity, an extra button to control the LED's and 1500mAh in-built battery, let's give the Herakles Pod Mod a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 * Herakles pod mod kit 1 * Replacement empty Pod 2 * Replacement mesh coils(0.4ohm) 1 * Micro USB Cable 1 * User Manual 1 * Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Herakles pod Mod comes in a cardboard box with outer cardboard sleeve and when opened we find all items on one layer. I received the Gunmetal version, the colour options are Gunmetal, Prism Red, Prism Grey, Prism Green, Rainbow and Rose Gold. The form factor like with the Smok RPM40 reminds me of the Cube X from OBS but slimmer and of course instead of fitting a tank up top we have the Black protruding squared off mouthpiece of the pod/cartridge. The device is a nice portable size and weight and build quality overall is very good with the LED's either adding aesthetically or making the device a bit tacky, really depends if you like LED's on a device or not. On the face we have a Black panel which houses an horizontally positioned oval fire button at the top and 3 function buttons that form a "T" towards the bottom, in-between we have a large coloured screen. Both sides have small upper rectangular Carbon Fiber panels then the rest of the sides are tinted translucent plastic panels, the back of the device has a nice mirrored finish with branding. Where the pod/cartridge meets the top of the device we have indented sides to the pod which form air slots to allow air down to the coil, finally moving to the base we have a central micro USB port and some safety marks. ___________________________________________________________________ Herakles Pod Mod Specs and Features: Dimension: 27mm*25.2mm*104.5mm Liquid capacity: 6.0ml (TPD version being released) Side Fill System - Silicone Stopper 0.96" TFT Display Material: Zinc alloy, PC Battery capacity: 1500mAh Three Adjustment Buttons Regular, Flash, Display, OFF Lighting Modes Output wattage: 5-40W Input voltage: 3.3-4.2V Charge rate: 1.5A Coil option: 0.4ohm mesh coil 0.4ohm coil:15-30W Compatible with Smok RPM coils and RBA Coil Head Compatible with Reewape Rouk RBA 6 Colours: Gunmetal, Prism Red, Prism Grey, Prism Green, Rainbow, Rose Gold ___________________________________________________________________ The Pods/Cartridges The pods are a cube shape with Black squared off mouthpiece, two pods are included which will last a while because they will be good for many coil changes. Two sides of the pod are indented so when it gets placed in the pods bay slots and channels are formed to lead air down to the base of the coil. On one side of the pod/cartridge we have a large bung that can be pulled out via the outer edge leaving the bung still attached to the pod/cartridge. The fill port is one of the biggest i have seen on a pod/cartridge just make sure you have the pod/cartridge on it's side then you can fill quickly and absolutely mess free. Looking at the base of the pod/cartridge with installed coil you can see the round central positive and negative surround spit in 2 parts (allowing pod to be fitted 2 different ways), we also have a magnet on each corner of the pod. The pods/cartridges have no adjustable airflow and as mentioned plenty of air is allowed to get to the base of the coils so any control is done by the bore of the coil heads. The pods are tinted but lighten with the addition of liquid so no issues with the visibility of your juice inside the pod. ___________________________________________________________________ The Coils You get 2 coils included neither of which are pre-installed in the included pods/cartridges. They are both the same 0.4ohm mesh Herakles coil heads which are rated between 15 to 30W. An antibacterial cotton is used for the wicking material which is healthier and also claimed it gives purer flavour and zero cotton taste but more of that later! The coil head just gets press fitted into place and has an o-ring seal. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod/Cartridge Looking inside the pods bay we can see the positive and negative Gold plated, spring loaded contacts and a magnet in each corner which line up with the magnets on the base of the pod. The pod secures very well and has no play whatsoever, in fact it takes quite a tug to pull the pod free. It's not too much of a con with the pods having a 6ml capacity but like with the Smok RPM40 the pod needs removing to check your juice level and also top-fill would be more convenient. ___________________________________________________________________ Smok RPM40 Coil Compatibility One of the biggest pro's for the Herakles Pod Mod is that the Smok RPM coil family including the RBA head fit the Herakles pod, this doesn't just increase coil head options but also means their will be no problem obtaining suitable coils. It doesn't stop there though as the Reewape Rouk RBA also fits the pod. Unfortunately the Smok RPM40 pods themselves are not interchangeable as this would of also added the choice of Nord coils and even using one of the many Adaptors that allows standard tanks to be used! Reewape Rouk RBA ___________________________________________________________________ The Display The Herakles has a bright colourful display with colour added by having square colour icons running vertically down each side of the lower section of the display, these are options for the LED's. Top left we have "SENSE" and then top right the battery status bar, underneath centrally is the wattage. The rest of the info is centrally orientated with the colourful icons either side, first is the resistance with the seconds of the current vape next to it. Underneath Resistance is voltage followed by puffs, finally we have the LED mode boxed central bottom. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Herakles Pod Mod The device is the usual 5 clicks to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on 3 clicks locks and unlocks the whole device so it won't fire. There is also a lock Wattage only option which is + and - together which still allows the device to fire. As well as the + and - buttons we also have the LED mode button which i will cover in the next section but pressing this button together with the - button resets the puff counter. Using the + and - buttons the wattage adjusts from 5 to 40W in 1W increments then simply press fire to vape. ___________________________________________________________________ The LED's Having LED's will not be to some peoples liking but then the device comes with the lights set off as default so just don't use them. For those that do like LED's from time to time even if it's just when at home so not drawing attention the Herakles offers plenty of options. Each three second press of the LED mode button takes you to the next mode, the options are Regular, Flash, Display and Off. Regular mode lights the LED's to how they are set via the icons on the display, to change which icon is in use while in regular mode press the LED mode button and + together which now allows the use of the + and - buttons to scroll through the options until you highlight the one you want. In regular mode the lights come on when fire is pressed and stay on for a further 3 seconds after the fire button has been released. Flash mode also only activates when the fire button is pressed and again stays on for a further 3 seconds after the fire button is released, in this mode while activated the LED's go through various flash sequences. Display mode is for those really into their LED's as this mode see's the LED's always on and not just when the fire button is pressed. This mode is similar to the combination option on Christmas Tree lights giving quite a varied light show. Off mode is the mode which really in my opinion means i just don't get those that would moan about the LED's as you have the choice to just never use them, some people though are never happy unless they have something to moan about! ___________________________________________________________________ Protections 8S Auto Cut-Off Low Voltage Protection Short-Circuit Protection Over-Charge Protection Over-Discharge Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging The Herakles has a 1500mAh battery and claimed 1.5A charge rate and although i don't have the equipment to test how close to both the device actually is it took 1 hour 8 minutes to charge so i would say close to both so i'm perfectly happy! ___________________________________________________________________ How It Vapes? And Thoughts! I will get the LED's out the way first which i won't put as a con or pro as they are entirely subjective however i will have as a pro that the LED's have plenty of options including being able to turn them off. One definite con for me is just how much the device looks like the Smok RPM40 and a bit more of an original design would be much more preferable but again how much that matters to people will vary. I also don't like the micro USB port being on the base of the device as i don't like needing to lie devices down to charge and also all devices in my opinion should now be coming with Type C USB, after saying that 1.5A charge rate is very good and more than happy with the device taking just over an hour to charge while also supporting pass-through. Battery life was pretty much as expected comparing well to the likes of the Smok RPM40 and similar devices so again happy! The pods fit even better than the Smok RPM40 pods (and they fit securely) due to really strong magnets and like with the Smok RPM40 i would much prefer top-fill and viewing windows to see the juice level but at least the 6ml capacity makes both of these less of a pain than they might of been. Filling actually is quick and mess free due to the very large filling port and then just the occasional tug to remove the pod is needed to check the juice situation. Plenty of air gets to the base of the coils and the airflow can only be adjusted via how wide or narrow the bore of the coil head is, the 1.2ohm RPM coil will possibly give a loose MTL but really the draw on the device is restrictive direct lung. The supplied coils have antibacterial cotton as the wicking material and it's claimed gives zero cotton taste but actually i found although the coil gave plenty of flavour there was a musty like cotton taste present which took a pod full of juice to get rid of, to make sure it wasn't just the one coil i tried the other supplied coil which again gave the same musty taste. Once the musty taste was gone though the flavour matched the 0.4ohm RPM coil which is one of my favourite stock coils of late although the RPM coil is superior in my opinion as there is no cotton taste present. Also being able to fit any of the other RPM coils, RBA and the Reewape Rouk RBA is a massive pro. The supplied coils i found best at 20W but if you like a warmer vape i had no issues with wicking even at 35W which is 5W over their recommended rating. Leaking pods is also something vapers don't like and like the Vaporesso PM80 the pod leaks slightly when using the supplied coil heads although not what would concern me unlike with the Vinci which i found leaking to be an issue, i suffered no leaking when using RPM coils. ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Well made device 6 colour options Portable and ergonomic Plenty of options for LED's including the option to turn off LED mode button 2 Coils included 2 Pods included RPM coils compatible RPM and Reewape Rouk RBA's compatible Flavour from coils after cotton taste goes is very good All coils i used gave a nice restrictive direct lung vape with a really good flavour, vapour balance 6ml Capacity Mess free quick filling (very large fill port) suffered no leaking when using RPM coils Suffered no flooding Pods fit very securely Puff counter Vibrant Display Battery life compares well to similar devices (1500mAh) Option to lock whole device or just navigational buttons Charges in just over an hour (1.5A charge rate) Supports pass-through Cons Not original enough (looks too much like Smok RPM40) Supplied coils gave musty taste for first few ml No adjustable airflow Need to remove pod to check juice level Need to remove pod to fill Very slight leaking when using supplied coils USB on base Type B USB I would once again like to thank Ella from Sourcemore for supplying the Sense Herakles Pod Mod Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  13. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the OSMALL Pod Kit from Vaporesso. The OSMALL Pod Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Jessica from Vaporesso. Introduction Vaporesso tend to release a group of products around the same time to make sure they cater for most vaping styles and needs, other manufacturers should take note, so where does the OSMALL fit into the grand scheme of things? Back to basics, it's a no frills simple draw activated portable MTL device. Not a lot is included and it has a quite cheap feel to it but that's part of it's point it is a very cheap pod system but for those wanting a decent amount of vapor and good flavour from a low wattage authentic MTL device, the OSMALL delivers, let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x OSMALL Battery 1 x 1.2Ω Regular Pod 1 x USB Cable 1 x User Manual 1 x Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The OSMALL comes in cardboard packaging with a flip lid and when handling the device it's noticeable how small, light and i recant the statement it feels quite cheap, it feels very cheap! I received the Black colour version, it's available in Black, Gray, Dark Blue, Dark Red, Red, Rose, Blue and Gold. The device does have a textured feel giving good grip which is due to groups of raised grooves in different directions forming an aesthetically pleasing geometric design. We have a very small LED indicator one side and central branding the other, the micro USB port is found on the base. Moving to the top we have the top half of the pod protruding which includes a comfortable mouth section very much suited to a MTL draw. The pod is tinted but clear enough to see e-liquid when filled. ___________________________________________________________________ OSMALL Specs and Features: Dimensions: 84.2 x 26.5 x 13.4mm POD Capacity: 2ml Resistance: 1.2ohm Battery Capacity: 350mAh Output Power: 11W Inhale Activated Charge Rate 5V/0.5A Refillable Pod Supports Mouth To Lung Vaping 5 Safety protections Colour: Black, Gray, Dark Blue, Dark Red, Red, Rose, Blue, Gold ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod You only receive one pod which doesn't house replaceable coils but is refillable. The pod is tinted but i found clear enough to see any e-liquid inside and the mouth section as mentioned is very comfortable and very much suited for a MTL draw. There is a silicone bung on the side of the pod that easily lifts up but stays attached which reveals a fill port big enough to fit a Gorilla nozzle while still allowing air to escape, the pod does need filling while on it's side but filling is quick and mess free with a little care. The coil installed in the pod is a 1.2ohm vertical round wire (material not stated which usually means Kanthal) and has flax Cotton has part of it's wicking material which tends to give less break-in time, purer flavour and increased longevity. Moving to the base we have the central opening which leads to the membrane switch and 2 very large metallic contacts that have enough surface area to both depress the contacts within the pods bay and line up with the magnets in the bay. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking inside the pods bay we have the central switch which is much larger than on most such devices with a magnet either side. To each side of the magnets there is small spring loaded contacts. The pod fits secured by the magnets and does have a little play but still needs a physical pull to remove so stays secure during vaping. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device To cut to the chase apart from taking a draw from the device to vape there is no operation as the device as no physical button but just gives 11W and if not constant output i just am not noticing any real power decrease, it gives a pretty consistent vape throughout the battery life. There is a very small LED which only lights White which stays on just long enough to see after vaping but really is only of use if a safety protection kicks in as it flashes various amounts of times dependant on which protection. The device has no battery status indication of any kind which is one of it's biggest cons along with the small battery capacity, on the plus side it only takes about 40 minutes to fully charge from dead while supporting pass-through. When charging the white indicator light stays on until fully charged, it then flashes 20 times before the light goes off. ___________________________________________________________________ Protections Short Circuit Protection Over-charge Protection Over Discharge Protection Overtime Protection Low Voltage Protection P.S Does state in my manual vape time is 5 seconds and then Overtime Protection kicks in but i tested it as this seems short and it is actually 10 seconds! ___________________________________________________________________ How It Vapes? The answer is pretty darn good! The device does feel cheap but looks ok and only one pod is included, also i found i needed charging even when using nic salts at least a couple of times a day when i only used the OSMALL but when matched up with it's pros for the price point really i have no complaints! This little high performing pod device has a MSRP of just $13.90 so can be picked up for £10 and i said high performing because the pod with installed 1.2ohm vertical round wire coil is superb and the draw activation works as reliably as on any device reminding me of the Caliburn in that regard. The draw is a mid MTL, in my opinion perfectly fine for someone giving up the stinkies as it's not too loose but loose enough to give a nice powerful vape to suit most that just want a cheap reliable device that gives fantastic flavour and high mg (as it's well suited for this). I used the pod with 50/50 20mg nic salts and it is really suited to high mg or nic salt delivery but also tried some 70VG low nic freebase and it still gave an enjoyable vape and wicked absolutely fine. The flax cotton as usual does it's stuff as i had pretty much zero break-in time and the flavour is right up there to go along with the for me perfect MTL draw. The flavour is only just starting to drop off slightly and that's after 9 or 10 refills so well above average longevity making only receiving one pod not quite the con it might of been. I got just slight condensation (i really don't even think it's e-liquid) after prolonged use but it was next to nothing, certainly not a leaky pod. The up side to the poor battery life is it charges in 40 minutes and also supports pass-through. The biggest con for me wasn't the poor battery life but total lack of battery status indication and because i couldn't detect any drop off in power one second i'm happily vaping away, the next nothing! Mind at about £10 a wear and spare is still a cheap vaping option. ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Plenty of Colour options looks ok Light, small ergonomic device As simple as it gets Draw activated (very responsive, reliable switch) Really nice mid MTL draw Next to no break-in time Flavour very good Pod has superb longevity Refillable Can clearly see e-liquid despite tinted pod Charges in just 40 minutes Supports pass-through Mini Omni board gives multiple protections Very inexpensive Cons Poor battery life Feels cheap (but then it is) No battery status indication Coils not replaceable Only one pod included Slight pod wiggle but is secure during vaping I would once again like to than Jessica from Vaporesso for supplying the OSMALL Pod Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  14. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Adept Starter Kit with Zlide Tank from Innokin. The Innokin Adept Starter Kit with Zlide Tank was supplied for the purpose of this review by Ella from Sourcemore. Introduction The Adept is a collaboration between Innokin, Phil Busardo and the vaping Greek. The device is a member of the Platform series and is an alternative for a beginner or those that like to keep things simple to the many pod devices swamping the market being a full sized mod while having simplicity at it's core. It comes paired with the Zlide MTL tank so the benchmark Zenith coil family are all compatible and included is the 1.6ohm coil and new Plex 3D 0.48ohm coil. The Adept has an IP67 rating so is tough, durable and waterproof to a point. The device detects the resistance of the coil and depending on if it's above or below 1.0ohm give's a choice of appropriate wattage settings. The Adept Kit is an excellent MTL option especially for a beginner who prefer going a mod with atty route instead of a pod system but is equally a nice option for other MTL vapers, let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x Innokin Adept Kit 1 x Zenith Z-PLEX3D 0.48ohm Atomizer Head (Pre-installed) 1 x Zenith 1.6ohm Atomizer Head 1 x Set of Spare Parts 1 x Replacement Glass Tube 1 x Micro USB Cable 1 x Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Adept Kit came in the usual cardboard packaging with pull out draw that most Innokin products come in. The device comes with a Zlide tank in a colour that best suits the colour of the device, i received an all Black affair but there are 3 solid colour and 3 design options which are, Black, White, purple, Sky, Ocean and Forest Camo. The device is quite rounded, that G class shape but much smaller, it also has a soft feeling rubberised finish making it an ergonomic treat. The sealed micro USB port is on the base along with a guide to the wattage settings, up top we have a central 510 plate with special watertight 510 connector. The face has a plastic cover protecting a sparse screen, towards the top is a protruding squared fire button with top lip to make it easy to locate, at the bottom is a smaller rectangular settings button. As you would expect from Innokin the device is very well made and for more aesthetic detail see the photos! ___________________________________________________________________ Zlide MTL Specs and Features: Size: 22.7 x 45.9mm Capacity: 2ml / 4ml Coil: Z coil Range Includes New: Z-PLEX3D 0.48ohm mesh coil Easy slide top filling design for effective leakage-proof Precise adjustable bottom airflow Child-Proof design Thread: 510 Colour: Stainless Steel, Blue, Gunmetal, Black ___________________________________________________________________ Zlide MTL Tank Overview The Zlide MTL Tank is a progression of the Zenith Tank and takes the same Z-coils (if it ain't broke why fix it!) which along with the Nautilus coils are very much regarded as MTL benchmarks. I received the 2ml Zlide but the standard kit comes with the 4ml option, Pre-installed we have the new Plex 3D 0.48 Coil and also included is the 1.6ohm coil, of course there are more options available. Also included is spare o-rings, fill port gasket, screws, spare glass and two 510 drip tips. The drip tip that's pre-installed has a protruding section at the bottom, this is a child proof feature and stops the top of the tank being slid open to fill, first the drip tip needs removing. For those that really don't want this feature and find having to remove the drip tip every time they need to fill the tank a pain a standard 510 is also included allowing the top to slide open with the drip tip installed, of course you could fit your own if you prefer. The fill port isn't the biggest so glass droppers are not suitable but gorilla nozzles etc are fine with space left to let air escape so no issues when filling. There is an arrow showing where to push the top to slide open and then once filled slide the top shut. The airflow control ring has a series of 4 small holes, all 4 open is quite a loose MTL draw while 1 gives a cigarette type pull, 2 and 3 holes open give more mid MTL draws. The base of the tank houses the airflow control and the 510 threading itself is attached to the base of the coil and feeds through the central hole of the base. Like the Zenith the coils just get press fitted into place making swapping coils very quick. ___________________________________________________________________ Adept Specs and Features: Size: 130 x 43.5 x 30mm (Including Tank) Battery: Built-in 3000mAh/3.7V Coil: KA1 Plex3D Mesh Coil 0.48ohm Resistance Range: 0.4ohm-3ohm Charge: 2A QC Maxi Voltage: 5.5V IP67 Waterproof, Dustproof, Shockproof Variable wattage adjustment settings Coil detection Micro USB and Safety Protections Thread: 510 colour/Design: Black, White, purple, Sky, Ocean, Forest Camo ___________________________________________________________________ Waterproof, Dustproof and Shockproof The Adept has the same Water and dustproof IP67 rating has the Aegis series of devices so it's very durable and will take everyday knocks without issue. The device has a thick Rubber casing, special sealed 510 connection, Silicone plug for the USB port and all buttons etc have a seal underneath so liquid can't get into the device. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device The Adept gives adjustability in the form of different constant wattage output settings but is very simple to use. The device can be turned on and off with 3 clicks of the fire button, switching off is confirmed by 2 Green flashes from the battery indicator icon while switching on is confirmed by the icon cycling through Red, Yellow and Green. When looking at the base of the device we have two columns of wattage levels that act as a reminder to what the corresponding bars that light up refer too. Towards the bottom of the face of the device we have a rectangular settings button and on the display either one, two, three or 4 bars can be lit up, each press of the settings button lights another bar and takes you to a higher setting. Below the settings bars we have two icons one to the left that as an arrow also pointing to the left and one to the right that has an arrow that yep, points to the right. When the resistance of the coil detected is below 1.0ohm then the icon to the right lights up purple and the settings are: 1 Bar = 14W 2 Bars = 15W 3 Bars = 16W 4 Bars = 17W When the resistance of the coil detected is 1.0ohm or higher then the icon to the left lights up Purple and the settings are: 1 Bar = 11W 2 Bars = 12W 3 Bars = 13W 4 Bars = 14W When vaping the purple icon, setting bar/bars and battery indication icon all light up. The battery indication lights up in a colour corresponding to the current state of the battery: Green = 60% - 100% Yellow = 20% - 59% Red = 0% - 19% The battery icon also flashes various amounts of times if a safety protection kicks in. ___________________________________________________________________ Protections Over Discharge Protection Overcharge Protection Over Voltage Protection Short Circuit Protection Overheat Protection High Resistance Protection Cutoff Protection ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Kit The Adept may not quite seem as indestructible as an Aegis for example but it will take plenty of knocks and has the same IP67 water and dustproof rating so still a tough durable mod. I didn't use the Adept solely with the Zlide tank as it's a tank i know well and the Z-coils even better although the Plex 3D 0.48ohm coil seemed a little lacklustre even at the highest 17W setting, with good but not optimum flavour and while not being a cold vape it feels more warmth is needed. Indeed i then put the Zlide on another mod with the 0.48ohm coil installed and found flavour far better and more warmth at 25W so really not the best inclusion in my opinion. The 1.6ohm coil was much more like the vape i enjoy from the Zlide which for those that have the Zenith i personally find both tanks perform identically, of course there is also many other coil options. The Adept is also a fully independent mod so other atty's can be fitted, i tried various MTL options with various results with the build i had in the Expromizer not suiting the available wattage options while the build in the Brunhilde MTL Top coiler gave an excellent vape on top of the Adept. So while it can be used with other MTL tanks it will vary build to build, atty to atty how it performs. I really like the look and rubberised feel (it really is a nice device to handle) and how simple the device is to use, it just took a glance at the base to see the two wattage output columns to work out how this device works, no rocket science involved, that's for sure. I also like the brightness of the settings bars, resistance arrows and battery indicator, the fire button is also easy to find, has a nice click and fires instantly. I also like the 510 solution the atty needs pushing down first but then very few turns needed to have in position, when removing an atty just a couple of turns needed and the 510 springs up to release the tank, very quick. The battery life really is impressive, it just seemed to keep going but then this is a low wattage device so 3000mAh goes a long way, an external battery would still be better in my opinion but it is the easier option for keeping the device watertight. The micro USB is sealed well but wish it was type C and hate it's position as i don't like having to lie devices down when charging and although in general i tend to use leak resistant atty's i still feel the need to remove them for piece of mind. The battery status again could of been 4 or better still 5 tiers but it's still fit for purpose with it seeming to stay on Green forever and then Yellow for another eternity and even once on Red it's good notice to get the device charged. I kept loosing track when charging the device to give an exact charge time, in theory at 2A it should take 1.5hours and what i can say it definitely charges in less than 2 hours which is great for such a large battery! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Well made device IP67 rating Aesthetically pleasing Comes in 6 colour/design options Ergonomic, nice rubberised hand feel Dedicated MTL device Gives different setting above or below 1.0ohm coils Comes with 2 different coils 1.6ohm coil gave great vape and flavour Z-coils compatiple, plenty of options Mod can be used with other MTL atty's (performance will vary) Zlide excellent MTL tank Colourful, vibrant sparse display Nice feeling fire button, fires instantly Watertight, quick release 510 connector Central 510 plate 3000mAh battery lasts for ages 5V/2A charging (charges quickly) Cons 0.48 Plex3D coil seemed not at it's best with Adepts settings Micro USB not Type C Micro USB port positioned on the base of the device Limitations on compatibility with other tanks Battery indication could have more tiers Would prefer external battery I would once again like to thank Ella from Sourcemore for supplying the Innokin Adept Starter Kit with Zlide Tank for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________

These strong punchy flavours are 0mg with a 70VG/30PG ratio and there is 50ml of e-liquid in a 60ml Gorilla bottle allowing for the addition of an 18mg nic shot for a 3mg nicotine strength. The flavours in the range are: Tuk Tuk Lady Boy Moon Bucket Ping Pong Ba Cara Badda Bang Nana Plaza Phu Ket ___________________________________________________________________ What I Received? I received 4 of the 8 flavours, which were: Badda Bang Phu Ket Nana Plaza Ba Cara ___________________________________________________________________ Testing Equipment I added a nic shot to each flavour making them all 60ml at 3mg strength and left two weeks to steep before testing. I tested all flavours on 2 identical set-ups to keep consistent testing conditions. To keep consistency i have used the same set-ups that i have used for testing other flavours recently! Set-up 1 = Axial Pro RDA on top of the Ultroner Aether BF device with a pair of 0.30hm SS Alien Claptons on the series deck giving a build resistance of 0.62ohm. I tested all flavours at 55W. Set-up 2 = Ni 0.2ohm ADA on the SX Auto ESS Driver device. The device was set-up on preset 3 which gives between 30-35W. The cotton used on the Axial Pro RDA was Vapefly Firebolt. The pictures are of the equipment used but not at the time of testing! ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Flavours Badda Bang The Aroma from the opened bottle is a Cola with also Cherry and Strawberry identified, in the background menthol is also present. The inhale is one similar to Cherry Cola but with other fruits present primarily raspberry, strawberry and something else much more tropical in nature. The exhale see's menthol emerge but not overdone and tamed somewhat by a touch of freshly picked Mint. The aftertaste starts with a fruit flavoured Cola with Mint on the back-end leaving a fresh taste in the mouth. Really nice clean, fresh e-liquid! SCORE 9/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Phu Ket The aroma of the open bottle is just bursting with fruit with the occasional individual fruit being identified, berries, orchard and tropical flavours all present. This e-liquid is consistent with it's inconsistency throughout with each vape revealing different flavours on inhale, exhale and even aftertaste. It really is as if a massive bowl has been used and the juice from just about every fruit you can think of has been added giving a flavour bursting of a fruit punch which is quite delicious! SCORE 9.5/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Nana Plaza The aroma of the opened bottle is dominated by Mango and orange, with other tropical fruits in the background. This e-liquid is for those into their tropical flavours. The Inhale see's very ripe Mango which is so sweet and juicy sweet Orange which taste like a smaller Orange such as a Satsuma or Tangerine, sitting in the background is a blend of tropical flavours with a touch of sharpness. The exhale see's tropical flavours come into focus being able to be identified while Mango and orange remain in charge, the tropical flavours include Pineapple, Passion fruit and possibly Guava among others. The aftertaste has none of the bite coming from the Pineapple etc and little Orange but is a pleasant sweet ripe Mango. Not too sure about this one but those into their tropical flavours might love it! SCORE 8/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Ba Cara The aroma of the opened bottle is a strong Cola flavour with Lime giving it a refreshing smell with a bit of bite, a fruity background is also evident. This flavour is the most refreshing of the four i tried and would make a great ADV on a summer's day. The Inhale is strong Cola but Lime including Zest gives it a citrus bite. The exhale see's merged mixed berries more evident in the background but throughout the vape the berries just compliment the Cola and Lime rather than compete. This is so refreshing but really not sure if just a touch of coolant has been added or the Lime is just done so well with enough citrus bite to give it a fresh coolness. The aftertaste is Cola up front with a now sweeter Lime lingering. Excellent e-liquid! SCORE 9.25/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion A good representation of the Bang Bang range, Nana Plaza wasn't really for me while the picks were Phu Ket and Ba Cara. I would once again like to thank Vape Simple for supplying the 4 flavours from the Bang Bang range for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________

    Hi!

Hi Andre, hope you are well!
  17. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the TARGET PM80 Sub-ohm Pod Mod from Vaporesso. The TARGET PM80 Sub-ohm Pod Mod was supplied free of charge for the purpose of this review by Jessica from Vaporesso. Introduction Vaporesso enter the Pod Mod arena in style with the Target PM80, a sub-ohm DL device which is also compatible with the Vinci coils. The Target comes with 2 pods, 2 different sub-ohm mesh coil heads and offers plenty of functionality with a menu system. Powered by the popular Axon Chip it fires in an instant and as well as Variable Wattage, Smart Wattage and Variable Voltage modes also detects the coil to give recommended wattage parameters while also having a 7 day puff counter to give a puff monitoring solution. With 4ml (2ml TPD) clear pods for easy visibility of your juice and comfortable proprietary drip tip the Target PM80 which comes in a bunch of colour/design options is well worth a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x VAPORESSO TARGET PM80 Battery 2 x VAPORESSO TARGET PM80 POD 4ml (2ml TPD) 1 x GTX 0.2ohm MESH COIL 1 x GTX 0.3ohm MESH COIL 1 x USB Cable 1 x User Manual 1 x Warranty Card 1 x Coil Head Specs Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics I received The Red version, it comes in 6 colour options with a Gunmetal Zinc Alloy chassis but we also have a further 4 options with a Silver frame. I like the aesthetics and form factor of most of the Pod Mods we have seen enter the marketplace but in my opinion Vaporesso have knocked the ball out the park with the Target PM80, i will let the pictures and comparison photo do the talking! The only possible con i can see with it's aesthetics to some is the Chassis is a fingerprint magnet so some might of preferred a matte finish! Target PM80, Smok RPM40, Vinci X, Aegis Boost! ___________________________________________________________________ Target PM80 Specs and Features: Dimensions: 102 x 33.4 x 24.8mm Material: Zinc Alloy Display: 0.96”TFT Screen Battery: Built-in 2000mAh Resistance : GTX 0.2ohm mesh coil (45–60W); GTX 0.3ohm mesh coil (32-45W) Power Output: 5-80W Charging Current: 2A Micro USB Cartridge Capacity: 4ml/2ml AXON chip for smart VW Innovative GTX coils for better flavor Easy top refill design 2A fast charging, 45 mins a full charge 4ml liquid capacity and Transparent E-Juice Window Multiple functional protections Colours: Black, Blue, Red, Green, Brown, Silver, Silver Blue, Silver Carbon Fiber, Silver Purple, Silver Net + 4 Designs with Silver Frame! ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod You receive 2 pods which is a pro and the capacity is 4ml or 2ml if you have the TPD compliant pods. The top of the pods have a slanted flat top with fixed proprietary drip tip very much like the Podstick pods but just larger and with a wider bore. The pods are clear and with a combination of how much of the pod protrudes from the top of the device and the large airflow cutouts on both sides of the device we have very good visibility of the e-liquid. Moving to the base and we can see the coils will be just press fitted into place and we also have 2 very large round magnets. To one side is a really chunky fill bung which can be easily lifted and then turned (it stays attached to the pod) to reveal a very large fill port which allows air still to escape when most sized nozzles are inserted so the pod can be filled quickly and mess free, the bung fits deep giving a really good seal. Although having to remove the pod to fill isn't perfect i like the fill method and i had no flooding or leaking after filling or refilling the pod. ___________________________________________________________________ The coils You receive 2 different Nichrome Mesh coils and also a coil head specs card is included giving detailed specs. We have the 0.3ohm GTX mesh coil head which is rated between 32w to 45w and the 0.2ohm GTX mesh coil head which has a rating of 45w to 60w, the bore on the 0.2ohm coil is just slightly wider. The coils look the same style and size as the Vinci coils and in fact they are interchangeable which can only be a good thing giving more options and coil availability. The coil head just get press fitted into the pod where it secures onto the air pipe via an o-ring with another o-ring sealing the fit at the base, either side we have part of the coil protruding and large air intakes to allow plenty of air to the centre of the coils. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking inside the pod's bay we can see the two Gold plated, spring loaded contacts on a small raised rectangular section and 2 large magnets, also visible on the sides are the large airflow cutout sections. The pod fits very securely and has no movement whatsoever, in fact it's quite difficult to get grip to give a strong enough pull to remove upwards so the trick is to put your finger behind the drip tip and pull forward which in conjunction with the slope of the fit lifts the pod free, really like this a lot! ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow The air gets access to the base of the coil head via 3 large cutout sections either side of the device and despite some plugs being included it's a bit of an archaic method to really credit the device as having adjustable airflow. For me the coil heads included suit the open airflow but you do receive 4 plugs so plugging one side will give a more restrictive draw but when plugging both sides it didn't suit the coils at all, i suppose it's a better solution than some trying to reduce airflow by putting their finger over the openings! ___________________________________________________________________ The Display There is a lot of information given on the screen but it's very well laid out and the display is bright and very sharp and in my opinion the best display yet with a Pod Mod just slightly better than the Vinci devices that also have excellent displays. Top left we have a battery status bar followed by the status also given as a percentage, top right we have the mode. Below the described we have the wattage or Voltage (if in Variable Voltage mode) and then underlining this is what looks like a bar chart style graphic which moves in real time adding to the aesthetics. Below the bar graph equaliser type graphic we have the best Wattage Parameter for the attached coil (this says --- when no coil attached). Below to the left we have resistance then right the Voltage. Finally bottom left we have the puff counter and bottom right the time of your last vape. ___________________________________________________________________ Detecting Coils As well as the Smart adjustable Wattage that when set on automatically adjusts to a recommended wattage we also have on the main screen the best wattage parameters for the attached coil which doesn't set Wattage but is a good reminder of the attached coil heads best recommended wattage range. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device The Target PM80 is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on 3 clicks of the fire button locks the navigational buttons but the device will still fire. The device adjust in 0.5w increments or 1w increments when the button is held down and scrolls at a nice speed from 5 to 80W. Pressing both navigational buttons together brings up a listed menu which can be scrolled down with fire selecting. We have Variable Wattage, Variable Voltage, Smart Variable Wattage, Puffs, Theme, Default and Exit. Choosing puffs brings up a 7 day puff monitor and also allows the puffs to be reset. Theme allows you to choose a different colour to display certain information and icons on the screen, the choice is between Green, Blue or Pink. Smart Variable Wattage allows this feature to be turned on or off, if on when a coil is first attached the wattage will automatically adjust to a suitable wattage but will still adjust in the usual manner. Variable Voltage only adjusts up to 4.0V so it seems the device doesn't have voltage boost which isn't a problem with the provided coils and i would imagine any future coil heads released would also bare this in mind so i can only see this being an issue if an RBA head is released with certain builds could have performance compromised but for me personally i am fine with this because of the build range i use. ___________________________________________________________________ Charging Unfortunately we don't have type C USB but according to the specs we do have 2A charging although i'm suspicious the 2000mAh is slightly exaggerated and as it took 1 hour 15 mins to charge (even if it is 2000mAh i would expect an hour at 2A) i suspect it's 1.5A charge rate. Despite all that i am still happy with battery life comparable to the other Pod Mods that have an in-built battery and 1hour 15mins to charge even if it's slightly less than 2000mAh is perfectly acceptable, i also like the side position of the micro USB. While charging the current charge is displayed both via a battery bar and as a percentage with estimated time left to charge also displayed, the Target PM80 also supports pass-through! ___________________________________________________________________ My thoughts And How It Vapes? If you like either an authentic MTL vape or even a looser MTL this device isn't for you, as the marketing suggests it's DL all the way. While like pretty much every pod/AIO set-up it isn't perfect but all things considered the Target PM80 might well become many vapers favourite pod device. Top-fill would be preferred but the fill method has been implemented well and i suffered no leaking via the fill port as the plug seals it very well, any moisture found from time to time was minimal and definitely coming from the large airflow inlets at the base of the coil but with airflow delivered this way and the size of the inlets i was surprised by how minimal the moisture was. Battery life i found compared favourably to similar devices and more than happy with the charge time but despite this i felt if it is 2000mAh life would of been better than i have been getting and charge rate seems more like 1.5A (still good) rather than the claimed 2A. Finally adjustable airflow to micro manage the draw would be an improvement but at least some thought (probably last minute) has gone into supplying rubber plugs to give a degree of control but hardly warrants saying it has adjustable airflow. The draw is very smooth with both coil heads with the 0.2ohm coil head giving a medium restricted direct lung vape while the 0.3ohm a slightly more restricted lung hit. The flavour from both coils is very good from the off and match each other but preferring slightly more restriction and being able to get the warmth i like at just 35W i preferred the 0.3ohm coil which improved battery life compared to the 0.2ohm coil head which i found best at 50W, the Vinci coils also being compatible is a big pro also. I love the light switch style fire button and the Axon Chip does it's stuff, the device fires insanely quickly at set wattage. For a pod mod there is plenty of functionality with a seven day puff monitor, various power modes and display colour customisation. The pod fits very securely and the clear pod allows the visibility of the e-liquid at all times, while not having the option to fit your own drip tip is a con the fixed one is both very comfortable while the bore suits the draw perfectly. ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Aesthetically pleasing Portable size and ergonomic 10 Colour/design options Very good build quality Smooth Airflow Very good purpose made DL device Includes 2 pods Includes 2 different coils Flavour very good both coils 0.2ohm coil head medium restricted DL draw 0.3ohm coil head tighter restricted DL draw Can clearly see e-liquid in the pod at all times Pod fits extremely securely Fill method well executed Vinci coils compatible 2A charge rate (i found 1.5A but still good, 1hour 15mins to charge) 2000mAh in-built battery (suspect slightly overrated but still gives good life comparable to similar devices) Charging feedback displayed Micro USB port positioned on side of the device Various power modes 7 Day puff monitoring system Coil recognition giving best at wattage parameters Display customisation Sharp, bright, well laid out display giving plenty of information User friendly menu system Battery status bar and given as percentage Wattage adjustment scrolls at nice speed 5W to 80W Adjust in 0.5W increments single press, 1W increments button held down Light switch style fire button Fires insanely quickly at set wattage Supports pass-through Supports firmware upgrades Cons Non adjustable airflow Top-fill would be preferred Type B USB Only for DL vapers Variable Voltage only adjusts up to 4.0V Suspect no voltage boost but isn't an issue with supplied coil Heads Proprietary fixed drip tip (is comfortable though and suits draw) Suspect both charge rate and capacity slightly overrated (but still compares favourably to similar devices) Frame is fingerprint magnet I would once again like to thank Jessica from Vaporesso for supplying the Target PM80 Sub-ohm Pod Mod Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  18. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this e-liquid review i take a look at 5 more flavours from Trip Hammer. The 5 flavours were supplied for the purpose of this review by Tim from Trip Hammer. Introduction Trip Hammer based in Dorset have been supplying premium e-liquids at an affordable price for 10 years and also do a lot of White Label so you may well of tasted their creations without even knowing. Their own range of e-liquids is quite extensive covering all profiles while still considering their time creating flavours having a smaller manufacturer care and attention to detail feel to them while also offering great customer service. Tip Hammer offer flavours at 0mg, 3mg, 6mg, 10mg and 18mg in 10ml bottles but also offer both a shortfill and shortfill Deluxe Range which are 70VG / 30PG 50ml shortfills in 60ml Gorilla bottles allowing the addition of a nic shot to give a 3mg strength. As well as an online presence Trip Hammer have 4 shops, 2 in Bournemouth, 1 in Poole and the other in Swanage so if you're down on the South Coast Pop in! ___________________________________________________________________ What I Received? I received 5 shortfills which were a mix from Trip Hammer's Standard and Deluxe Ranges! Blueberry Raspberry Ice Tripman Kiwi Crush Cool Berries Blueberry Muffin ___________________________________________________________________ More Pictures Of A Trip Hammer One of Bolton's favourite sons, Fred Dibnah would of loved this piece of kit! ___________________________________________________________________ Testing Equipment I added a nic shot to each flavour making them all 60ml at 3mg strength and left four weeks to steep before testing (received flavours for both reviews at the same time and nic shots were added on arrival). ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Flavours Blueberry Raspberry Ice The aroma of the opened bottle is a 50/50 mix of Blueberry and Raspberry and it also smells very refreshing which hit's me with dread! (loads of coolant?). I needn't of worried this flavour is all about the perfect blend of Blueberry and Raspberry which works so well together. The inhale is very fruity with both flavours having their own identities but working in tandem rather than trying to outdo each other. The exhale is much of the same but now the juice becomes a lot more refreshing as coolant emerges but rather than dominating still allows the Blueberry and Raspberry to hold centre stage leaving a fruity aftertaste making this a flavour i really like and an ideal vape on a hot summer's day! SCORE: 9/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Tripman The aroma of the opened bottle is a refreshing Watermelon with a citrus punch in the background. This e-liquid wasn't my favourite by any stretch yet i can see some vapers having this as their pick, we all have our own preferences and while i'm not that keen on Watermelon flavoured e-liquid i can still tell this flavour oozes class but i will score it on my own personal taste. The inhale is sweet and refreshing and dominated by Watermelon with just a hint of citrus in the background. The exhale has real bite as grapefruit including some Zest gives a punchy citrus hit while the Watermelon is still evident sitting patiently in the background. The aftertaste see's Watermelon making a comeback leaving a mouth watering sweet melon flavour in the mouth! very refreshing even if not for me! SCORE 8/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Kiwi Crush The Aroma of the opened bottle is Kiwi with a hint of Lime. What a nice e-liquid this is and shows when Kiwi is let off the leash rather than just being used to compliment Strawberry (mind, it does do that well) what can be possible. Inhale, exhale and aftertaste are very consistent with a tingle sensation left on the tongue. The flavour is dominated by ripe juicy Kiwi with Lime complimenting it at just the right strength. Added to the flavour is a sherbet like fizz that's not overdone and just works well leaving as mentioned a tingle in the mouth after the vape. Kiwi won't be for everyone but i found this a real winner! SCORE: 9.5/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Cool Berries The aroma of the opened bottle is one of merged mixed berries with Raspberry being the easiest to identify. A real berry punch with a cool exhale which many would enjoy on a hot Summer's day. The Inhale is Raspberry taking charge with a merged mainly dark berry mix in the background. The exhale see's dark berries come to the fore being mainly Blackberry and Blueberry and now the e-liquid really has a cooling hit. A fresh fruity taste is left in the mouth, not over sweet but very pleasant. The flavours here are strong and despite the use of coolant i found i was quite partial to this flavour! SCORE: 9/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Blueberry Muffin (Not yet on site) The aroma of the opened bottle is lush being a warmed Cake Batter aroma infused with ripe Blueberries, yum! I love this flavour but unfortunately i can't find it on the site but if it appears i will add to the comments. Very authentic blueberry Muffin flavour but very much freshly out the oven and still warm, i upped wattage, settings and closed airflow down to warm the vape and this came into it's own even more! The inhale is one of just baked butter rich cake with Blueberry present but quite subdued. The exhale see's the Blueberries presence much more evident but each exhale is different, sometimes plenty of Blueberry flavour, sometimes just a hint while the occasional exhale is ripe Blueberry loaded. The aftertaste is one of a authentic warm Blueberry Muffin leaving one of the nicest aftertastes i have witnessed with an e-liquid, cracking flavour! SCORE: 9.75/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion Another 5 high quality flavours from Trip hammer. Tripman was a good juice but just not for me while my picks were Kiwi Crush and Blueberry Muffin. I would once again like to thank Tim from Trip Hammer for supplying the 5 flavours for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  19. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this e-liquid review i take a look at 6 flavours from RockStar Vape Ltd. The 6 flavours are from the Keep It Cloudy Shortfill range and supplied for the purpose of this review by Kirstie from Rockstar Vape Ltd. Introduction Rockstar are based in the East Midlands UK which pleases me as Leicester is not far from my hometown of Swadlincote so it's great for me to review products from the area i grew up in and still have family, where people still help people out without expecting something in return. Rockstar have become popular with their budget range of e-liquids, 120ml for just £9.99 with offers from time to time like buy 2 get 1 free and buy 5 get 3 free so it's obvious to see why. Their 120ml budget e-liquids are 120ml 0mg but you can choose 1.5mg, 3mg or 6mg. Room is left in the bottle for the relevant nic shots and the juice is made stronger to compensate for the appropriate nic shot dilution. After releasing a total of 78 flavours in their budget range Rockstar have now released both a shortfill 100ml Keep it Cloudy range consisting of 32 flavours and 50ml shortfill premium range consisting of 26 flavours. ___________________________________________________________________ KEEP IT CLOUDY RANGE The Keep It Cloudy Range is a large range of 80VG/20PG 100ml shortfills that includes flavours from most profiles. The bottles come with 100ml of e-liquid in 120ml Gorilla bottles and are fine to vape at 0mg, the flavours are nice and strong allowing for dilution up to 120ml. You can also take the option when ordering to add 1 or 2 nic shots for 1.5mg or 3mg respectfully. Rockstar also offer all flavours in the Keep It Cloudy Range at a stronger 80ml in the same 120ml bottle with 4 nic shots for a higher 6mg strength, the e-liquid is £9.99 with each nic shot costing an extra £1 (of course you can always source your own nic shots). ___________________________________________________________________ What I Received? I received the following 6 flavours from the Keep It Cloudy Range: Cool Raspberry Bonfire Toffee Fruit Salad Banana Shake Caramel Cappuccino Mango Twist ___________________________________________________________________ Testing Equipment I added 2 nic shots to each flavour making them all 120ml at 3mg strength and left three weeks to steep before testing (they didn't need this time i simply add the nic shots when i receive the e-liquid and i have had theses a while). ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Flavours Cool Raspberry The aroma of the opened bottle is ripe Raspberries and a hint of Menthol. The Inhale has a really lovely authentic ripe Raspberry flavour complimented nicely with a touch of Menthol. Not keen on Menthol flavours or Coolants if overdone but i really like this juice on the inhale but then the exhale see's both the emergence of coolant and Menthol becoming much stronger also leaving a Menthol aftertaste. Many might really like this, the Raspberry is spot on but with the Menthol and coolant just not for me! SCORE: 7/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Bonfire Toffee The aroma of the opened bottle is a very strong Creamy Toffee with a lingering slightly burnt smell. Very authentic e-liquid even down to both the stickiness of the Toffee coming through in the flavour and the unique pleasant slight burn't of the Toffee on the exhale. The inhale see's a very sweet sticky Toffee flavour but all change on the exhale as the unique burn't taste emerges leaving an authentic aftertaste, doesn't get much better than this! SCORE: 9.75/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Fruit Salad The aroma of the opened bottle is Raspberry dominated with a hint of Strawberry, Rhubarb and vanilla. Rockstar's take on the childhood's favourite chew i found not to be an exact match but still a really nice flavour. The inhale see's a candy Raspberry flavour in the fore but also i taste Rhubarb and Strawberry in the background. The Exhale see's the flavour blending into a fruit fool as a lightly vanilla'd Custard emerges while the Aftertaste see's Raspberry and Cotton Candy take charge to leave a pleasant sweet candy Raspberry taste in the mouth, very nice! SCORE: 8.75/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Banana Shake The aroma is Banana with a creamy vanilla, a very fresh smelling e-liquid. A very simple full fat Banana Shake flavour reminding me very much of a "Wimpey Shake" bake in the day. Inhale, exhale and aftertaste stay consistent leaving a creamy Banana taste in the mouth that lingers. Could vape this all day! SCORE: 9.25/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Caramel Cappuccino The aroma of the open bottle is coffee perfectly accompanied by a cream and caramel. This e-liquid is very rich and sweet and not what i was expecting at all, rather than the emphasis being on coffee this juice is all about the overall flavour which stays consistent on both inhale and exhale with a Caramel aftertaste. The inhale and exhale see's a lovely blend of Coffee, Cream and Caramel giving it a rich sweet flavour which i found accompanied a Black Cup of the Coffee perfectly, some won't like this while others will love it! SCORE: 9.5/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Mango Twist The aroma from the opened bottle is sharp crisp Apple with plenty of sweet Mango also present. The inhale is dominated by sweet Mango with the sharper taste of an unsweetened Apple juice hovering in the background. The exhale has a little more bite as the crisp sharp Apple flavour comes more to the fore. The Aftertaste see's Apple start to diminish leaving a sweet Mango flavour on the taste buds, lovely flavour! SCORE: 9.5/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion Another lovely group of flavours from Rockstar's Keep It Cloudy range although not too keen on the Menthol and Coolant heavy exhale of the Cool Raspberry but that's just me, the picks were Bonfire Toffee, Caramel Cappuccino and Mango Twist. I would once again like to thank Kirstie from Rockstar Vape Ltd for supplying the 6 flavours from the Keep It Cloudy Range for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  20. Hi UKVapers, In this review i take a look at the Crown Pod System Kit from Uwell. The Uwell Crown Pod System Kit was supplied free of charge for the purpose of this review by Pearl from Cigabuy. Introduction Uwell best known for their Crown Tanks and more recently the highly regarded Caliburn brings out a pod device using the Crown name while after testing in my opinion is very much an upgraded Caliburn. With the crown pod system we have much improved filling, liquid viewing windows, 1.0ohm and 0.6ohm pods, adjustable airflow and much larger battery capacity. The Crown uses the same Pro focs coil technology which was introduced with the caliburn, also still both button and draw activated but unfortunately still no power regulation so a direct output device. So in my opinion a much larger Caliburn with improvements so let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1×CROWN pod system 1×1.0Ω CROWN pod (pre-installed) 1×0.6Ω CROWN pod 1×Micro USB cable 1×User’s manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Crown comes in cardboard box packaging and on opening in the tray sits a nice looking large pod device with spare pod by it's side. I received the Grey version which is a Dark Grey which could of easily have been called Gunmetal, it's also available in Blue, Red and Black, all versions come with a dark large duckbill style mouthpiece installed. The colour of choice is on both sides of the device, front and back and on both front and back we have a central dark strip which has a nice Regal/Gothic type design, the base is Black and made of plastic. The main chassis is Aluminium Alloy, towards the top on the dark central strip we have a square fire button with raised crown which protrudes slightly and blends into the design, further down we have a tiny LED indication light. Where the pod interlocks with the shape of the top of the device small viewing windows are formed front and back, moving again to the base we have positioned centrally a micro USB port. The Crown is nearer to a pod mod size than a Caliburn style device so less stealthy while still being very portable and ergonomic, of course the extra size is needed for the extra battery capacity. I think the device looks really nice and some good colour options available, it feels very well made. ___________________________________________________________________ Crown Pod Kit Specs and Features: Material: PCTG, Aluminium Alloy Size: 95.6mm x 30mm x 18mm E-Liquid Capacity: 3ml (2ml TPD) Maximum Wattage: 25 W Coil Resistance: 0.6 Ω/1.0Ω Battery Capacity: 1250mAh Refillable pod, cost-effective to use. Top filling method, quick and convenient. The airflow of the pod can be adjusted as you want. The Pro-FOCS flavor testing technology gives you an excellent vape experience. Colours: Black, Grey, Blue, Red ___________________________________________________________________ The Pods The pods are quite large, a lot of that is because of the very large Black mouthpiece, the pod itself is slightly frosted but does have a clear section both front and back which are showing when fitted into the device creating juice viewing windows. The mouthpiece while being large does only have a small opening so much suited to a draw with restriction rather than loads of air. On one side of the pod we have a sliding piece for adjustable airflow (big pro) and moving to the base we have a very small opening to the side of the contacts to allow the draw activation to work, we also can see the 2 contacts that will line up with the contacts in the pod's bay. The capacity of the pods are 3ml with the standard kit but there is also a 2ml version available. You receive 2 pods that are refillable but the coils can't be replaced, pre-installed is a 1.0ohm pod and also included is a 0.6ohm pod, the coils an both pods use the same Pro focs technology (whatever that actually is?) as with the Caliburn and are made of Kanthal. The specs are printed on the base of each pod but also the 0.6ohm pod can be quickly distinguished by having a large Red section inside the pod towards the bottom. ___________________________________________________________________ Filling The mouthpiece pulls off the pod to reveal the central air pipe opening and two holes (one to each side), one being small to let air escape while the other is the fill port which will be fine for most sized nozzles and has a self sealing membrane. The small hole to allow air to escape does it's job really well making filling quick and mess free if careful, in fact it fills so quickly and easily the only time you could have issues is overfilling if you are over zealous. When the pod is fitted to the device the mouthpiece can be pushed first rather than just pulling straight upwards, this dislodges it allowing the mouthpiece to be removed for filling without having to move the pod from the device, good job! ___________________________________________________________________ Airflow On one side of the pod we have a plastic sliding piece that is marked min and max and when in the min position a small airflow slot is above it. The sliding piece can be slid upwards to have as much of the slot open as you require giving it very good adjustability with the only downside being the pod needs to be removed from the device to have access, still a big pro as once you have it how you like it you shouldn't need to readjust. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod Looking inside the pods bay we can see the raised central opening to the membrane switch and to either side a Gold plated, spring loaded contact. Apart from a barely protruding section inside the bay towards the front i really see nothing that would help secure the pod in place, yet the pod fits very securely and has no play whatsoever showing if the device has precision build quality press fitting is all that's needed, cracking job! ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device The Crown Pod Device can be turned on and off with 5 clicks of the fire button, either action gets confirmed by 3 flashes from the LED. The device is very simple as it is a direct output device with no settings so simply take a draw to vape or if like me you prefer a physical fire button then press the fire button which will override the draw activation mechanism. The device of course has all the safety protections you would expect from a pod device which are indicated by various flashes of the LED. The device also has 3 tiers of battery status indication so when you vape the LED lights in the colour of the current state of the battery: Over 60% = Green Between 30% & 60% = Blue Below 30% = Red ___________________________________________________________________ Protections Include Open Circuit Protection Short Circuit Protection Low Power Protection Over-vape Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Charging The device also shows the same battery status indication while charging and charges in approximately 1.5 hours at 1A. For a 1250mAh battery it's about par but a little faster and the inclusion of Type C USB would be better. While charging the device does support pass-through using either the fire button or draw activation. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience And Thoughts! I really did like the Caliburn but here we have a device which in my opinion tops it. Both coils act very similar to the Caliburn giving above average flavour from the off but that's the break-in period and after 2-3ml the flavour improves further and also gives good longevity with both pods. The mouthpiece is a style i have used many times but seems a bit strange here to start with as it's big yet the opening is small to suit restriction so seems a bit of a miss-match but the more i used it the more i got use to it but might put some off. The viewing windows while not being large i found more fit for purpose than the very thin slots of the Caliburn, i also like being able to remove the mouthpiece while the pod is still in the device for filling and how quick and easy it is. The bigger capacity is a big improvement (standard version) and also i occasionally got slight gurgling (it soon cleared) with the Caliburn but i have had none of that with these pods and also suffered no leaking whatsoever. The Caliburn was possibly best liked for what many considered the perfect draw for a pod device but here we can replicate that draw but have more options with the adjustable airflow. The 1.0ohm pod fully open gives that same loose MTL draw but now it can be adjusted to while not in my opinion getting quite a cigarette type draw not far off it. The 0.6ohm pod fully open gives a really nice restricted direct lung draw which can be closed down for a loose MTL but really i found this pod at it's best with airflow fully open. The 1250mAh battery allows for reasonable vape time with the 0.6ohm pod while the 1.0ohm pod would give most vapers a whole day's vaping and while i feel 1.5 hours to charge could be improved on it's about par and does support pass-through. The Crown has the same draw and button firing mechanisms as the Caliburn so it will both suit those that prefer draw activation and those like me that prefer using a fire button. Just like the Caliburn the membrane switch is amazingly responsive matching the performance of using the fire button, firing with no delay. Unfortunately again like the Caliburn it's a direct output device so the power will decrease along with the battery which is very noticeable with the 0.6ohm pod (the 1.0ohm pod gives a more consistent vape throughout with drop off barely noticeable). ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Good build quality Portable and Ergonomic 4 Colour options Draw or Button Activated Draw activation very responsive Fires without delay Battery status indication Top-fill (can be filled when pod is installed) Clear viewing windows Adjustable airflow Both MTL and DL pod included Pods fit very securely Suffered no flooding or leaking 3ml capacity standard pods 1A charging (par) Good flavour even during break-in then improves further (both pods) Above average pod longevity Supports pass-through both draw or fire activation Cons Direct output Large Mouthpiece will feel strange at first with MTL draw Would prefer Type C USB Coils can't be replaced (need to replace the whole pod) I would one again like to thank Pearl from Cigabuy for supplying the Uwell Crown Pod System Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  21. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Theia which is a Pod Mod from Ultroner. The Theia was supplied for the purpose of this review by Linky from Sacowin, Ultroner's Marketing Company. Introduction Ultroner release their latest stabwood device this time in the form of the latest trend a pod mod. The Theia accommodates a 2ml capacity pod which houses replaceable mesh coils with either 0.6ohm or 1.2ohm resistance. We have an old school style display and adjustable wattage from 5W to 30W, the device is powered by Ultroner's efficient Sevo Chipset. The main talking point is that the device accommodates a replaceable Li-Po battery and includes a charging dock to charge the battery externally while also supplying a spare battery. This device offers something a little different so let's crack on! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 X Theia Device and Pod 2 X 1000mAh Li-Po Batteries 1 X 1A Charging Dock 2 X Coils (mesh 0.6ohm & 1.2ohm) 1 X Polishing Cloth 1 X Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Theia came in the usual flip open cardboard packaging with viewing window the same shape and size as the device so it can be clearly viewed before opening. I received a device which the most prominent colour is Purple but due to the nature of Stabwood devices all will be unique. The device is a slim box mod shape with bowed sides and bevelled edging for good hand feel and has the right balance in weight feeling of quality but not over heavy. The main body is made of stabwood while we have a darkly tinted pod with delrin proprietary drip tip protruding from the top of the device. The stabwood has slight pitting which is common with Ultroner devices but in my opinion it doesn't take away from it's aesthetics. On the face of the device we have a Silver, round fire button top and nearer to the bottom 2 smaller round navigational buttons side by side, central we have the screen then finally at the bottom of the face we have the micro USB port. Moving to the base we have printed safety marks and a grooved catch as on the base is a hatch door which accommodates a removable Li-Po battery. Being a stabwood fan, in my opinion the Theia is a gorgeous looking device. ___________________________________________________________________ Theia Specs and Features: Dimensions incl pod & drip tip: 95mm x 42mm x 18mm Weight: 120g Input Voltage: 3.3V - 4.2V Power Range: 5W - 30W Output Voltage: 1V - 8V Static Currant: Under 50uA Resistance Range: 0.1ohm - 3ohm Battery: Removable Li-Po 1000mAh Multiple Protections Colour: Stabwood Finishes with the usual Purple's, Green's, Blue's, Red's, Blacks etc as with other Ultroner Stabwood devices (each one unique) ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod The included pod is 2ml capacity and whether larger capacity pods will be available i would have no idea because at the time of writing there is no marketing material about the device available and the manual gives just a few specs about the device but doesn't even mention the pods. In fact the manual really does need to be giving more information as it consists of sparse specs, operating the device and what safety protections the device has but as mentioned doesn't cover the pods, coils, batteries or charging dock. The pod is very darkly tinted and while i initially thought the visibility was fine that was because i was using Red coloured followed by dark e-liquid but when i switched to a more standard light coloured juice then visibility was not good and i needed a good light sauce to see the level. Up top we have a fixed delrin drip tip so unfortunately i couldn't switch for one of my own. The coil head get's press fitted into the pod and to one side on the base we have a silicone Black bung which is easy to get hold of and lift, it stays attached to the pod. The fill port is a really good size and i found filling both quick and mess free, the only issue is the need to remove the pod to fill as so many of this type of device has a much more convenient top-fill method. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Coils You receive 2 different coils which simply get press fitted into place with o-rings giving a good seal. Both coils are mesh and the resistance and rating is printed on the base area and you do need to check as this is the only way of telling them apart. Both coils have the same large wicking holes and the mesh and inner bore of both coils to me look identical but one is 0.6ohm and the other 1.2ohm despite both being rated at 15 to 20W but more about that later. ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow The Theia like many of these devices (although recently the trend has been changing to adjustable) has fixed airflow so the only control is the bore of the coil and as mentioned both bores look identical with the two supplied coils. The air comes into the pod via 3 small openings on the spine side of the pod and gets channelled down to the bottom of the coil. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Pod The pod get's secured in place and released via a protruding catch which is situated on one side of the device and it both releases smoothly and secures the pod very well. Looking inside the shallow bay for the pod to be fitted we have a raised area one side where the fill bung fits into for added protection from leaking, then a lower section where we can see the 2 sturdy spring loaded contacts surrounded by a peek seal. To one side we can see the catch which is operated as mentioned from the side of the device, a really good job! ___________________________________________________________________ The Display The Theia has a sharp, bright old school style of display which is laid out nicely to give plenty of feedback without looking over cluttered. Top Left we have the resistance then underneath this is the voltage, bottom left we have a battery status bar. The top Right of the display is taken up by the wattage and then in the bottom Right section we have both the preheat and time of your vape. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device The Theia is the usual 5 clicks to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and once on the wattage can be adjusted using the navigational buttons from 5W to 30W in 1W increments which i prefer but those that vape MTL at very low wattage's might prefer more micro management of the wattage setting, the adjustment round robins. The device is adjustable wattage only but offers 3 different preheats that can be altered using the fire and up buttons together, the choice is between Normal, Soft or Hard. The only other feature available is pressing both navigational buttons at the same time locks everything including the fire button. As hopefully came across from my description the Theia is a very simple, user friendly device. ___________________________________________________________________ Safety Protections The device has plenty of safety protections which if they kick in the relative protection alert is displayed on the screen, the protections are: Short Circuit Protection Low Resistance Protection High Resistance Protection Over-heat Protection Low Voltage Protection High Voltage Protection ___________________________________________________________________ The Battery And Charging Dock Adaptor The battery gets fitted via the battery hatch door on the base of the device that can be opened and locked back in place via a grooved catch. The battery can only go one way for the contacts to line up so very safe and no need for marked orientation. With or without a battery fitted their is no rattles from the device and the door fits very securely, so no issues whatsoever! You get supplied with 2 1000mAh Li-Po batteries so you can have the spare ready charged so can simply swap batteries when needed. The device does have a USB port which supports both unlikely firmware updates and charging but being supplied with a 1A charging adaptor dock i really would recommend charging externally, especially as it only takes an hour to charge one of the batteries. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience And Thoughts! I particularly like Ultroner devices because of the mods they did in collaboration with Asmodus but also like their simple but very efficient Sevo Chipset which i have in a few devices now, finally i'm a sucker for a bit of stabwood! The but side is with the Theia i really thought i would love the device, it's looks and the removable Li-Po batteries but the coils would let it down as was the case with both the Oner and Pixie. The coils did confuse me because as mentioned apart from the printed resistance being different they look identical in every way, even the bore looks identical and i would say is a little narrow than expected for a 0.6ohm coil but wider than expected for a 1.2ohm coil, even the mesh looks the same. In fact i was actually surprised that indeed when using they were different resistances with the 0.6ohm registering at 0.61ohms and the 1.2ohm being 1.18ohms but i do dispute both having a rating of 15 to 20W These coils are the best i have used from Ultroner with both giving really good flavour, i started with the 1.2ohm coil at the lowest rating of 15W which i found a very warm vape and although it wicks fine with the large wicking holes (even with 70VG juice) i just wouldn't go higher because of the heat of the vape and ended up using this coil at 10W where the vape was still warm but much better for my preference, with plenty of cloud and flavour on point. The 0.6ohm coil was much better in the rating range and it still vaped really well at 25W if you like a very warm vape but personally i was at 18W for a very similar vape to what i got from the 1.2ohm coil. A pro for these coils is you get flavour on point at both a lower wattage and temperature but also with a much warmer vape than a lot of this style of device will allow for. When it comes to draw both coil heads were identical giving a loose MTL draw and also allowing for a very restrictive direct lung vape. I could get a tighter draw by covering a couple of the airflow openings but doing so while vaping was very awkward but a small piece of tape could be your friend! I really do like having the removable Li-Po batteries included as it allows the device to be a small in-built battery size while being able to both recharge externally and just switching for the charged spare so you never need to be without battery life, add to that the efficient Sevo Chipset it's a real winner. But the device does have cons, firstly the pod is just too darkly tinted to see lighter juices and although i had no issues with longevity with the coils that won't help much if you run low on juice and get a burn't hit which will no doubt leave a burn't taste until a new coil is fitted. Also needing to remove the pod to fill via the port on the base of the device is a pain and really can't see why we don't have top-fill like most devices have of late, adding to this is there only seems to be a 2ml option so filling is needed quite often. On the plus side is that i found filling quick and mess free and also had no leaking from either the fill port or coil. Another con for me is the proprietary fixed drip tip as i would prefer the option of using my own and also as mentioned unless using some tape or other method of closing down the airflow the airflow is non adjustable. The wattage adjusts in 1W increments which would be a plus for most usually but with this being a low wattage device i can see some MTL vapers preferring more micro management. Back to the pros and the device fires instantly and the fire button and navigational buttons give really satisfying clicks, having 3 preheat options is also a bonus. The device looks really nice and feels great in the hand and will be a device i will carry on using just hope their won't be an issue with coil availability in the future! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes High build quality Unique stabwood finishes Nice weight Sharp, bright display Adjustable wattage 5 to 30W in 1W increments 3 preheats 0.6ohm and 1.2ohm mesh coils included Nice loose MTL draw (both coils) Restricted DL vape possible Very good flavour both coils No leaking suffered from pod Can get really warm vape if you prefer Pod secures and releases very impressively Durable catch for holding pod in place Removable 1000mAh Li-Po battery Battery door is very secure Spare battery Charging adaptor dock included Battery charges in 1 hour at 1A USB supports charging and firmware upgrades (i would recommend using supplied adaptor) Cons Darkly tinted pod Only 2ml option (as far as i am aware) Bottom fill (need to remove pod to fill) Airflow non adjustable (unless a bit of creativity is used) Don't agree with 1.2ohm wattage coil rating Low wattage users might prefer 0.1W increments (as many will prefer 1W increments so a pro for some) Proprietary fixed drip tip Manual needs to be more concise I would once again like to thank Linky from Sacowin for supplying the Ultroner Theia for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  22. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Orca Solo Plus Starter Kit from Vaporesso. The Orca Solo Plus Starter Kit was supplied for the purpose of this review by Jessica from Vaporesso. Introduction Searching the Interweb for information brings up UK sites as due to the popularity of the Orca Solo in the UK the Orca Solo Plus is primarily aimed at the UK market as an upgrade to the previous popular version. So how much can be improved with just a simple pen style AIO device? well quite a bit as Vaporesso demonstrates with the Plus version! The Orca Solo Plus is a pen style AIO device just like it's previous version but now we have a substantially improved battery capacity, the introduction of a 0.6ohm Mesh coil to accompany the ever popular Vaporesso 1.3ohm CCELL, larger e-liquid capacity and 3 constant output settings, so let's give this little Beaut a good look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: 1 x ORCA SOLO PLUS Kit 1 x 0.6ohm OC MESHED Coil 1 x 1.3ohm OC CCELL Coil 1 x Extra Glass Tube 1 × USB Cable 1 × User Manual 1 × Warranty Card ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics The Orca Solo Plus comes neatly packed in simple cardboard packaging and on opening the AIO style pen is in it's separate parts along with it's spare parts, paperwork and USB cable. I received the Black version but the options are Rainbow, Silver, Blue and Black. With the AIO Pen assembled it looks pretty much identical to the Orca Solo but is just slightly taller and 2mm wider in diameter making it feel a much more substantial device. We have the same domed top sleeve with cutouts so your liquid can be viewed which protects the glass that fits onto the battery section. Up top we have a comfortable delrin MTL style 510 drip tip so your own will fit which is always a pro. On the front of the battery tube we have towards the top a protruding tactile square fire button with translucent surround to allow for LED indications, to the side at the same level we have a micro USB port. On the base we have the usual safety markings plus central venting hole but apart from some quite low key branding the battery section is relatively plain aesthetically which will please many. The 18mm diameter and 123mm height of the Orca Solo Plus in my opinion gets the balance right between being a portable stealthy device while still having a nice ergonomic substantial feel, the construction is metal and seems durable but i'm not certain exactly what metal has been used! ___________________________________________________________________ Orca Solo Plus Specs and Features: Size: 18(D) x 123(H)mm Capacity: 2ml Battery: Built-in 1200mAh battery Charging 5V/1A Coil: 0.6ohm OC Meshed coil and 1.3ohm OC CCELL coil Adjustable Mode Optimal Flavor Production CCELL Coil for High Nicotine Satisfaction 3 Color light indicator for battery levels and power modes Colours: Rainbow, Silver, Blue, Black ___________________________________________________________________ What You Receive? You receive all the parts of the AIO pen which is the cylindrical battery section, glass, protective sleeve and 510 drip tip. You also receive a spare glass, both a CCELL and Mesh coil, spare o-rings, braided USB cable and all the usual paperwork. ___________________________________________________________________ Fitting The Device Together The Orca Solo Plus is a pen style AIO device so the airflow control is on the top of the battery and your coil head gets screwed also straight into the battery section. The glass gets pushed onto the top of the battery where it is secured and given a very good seal by a thick silicone casket. The top-cap/protective sleeve screws onto the top of the coil head to secure in place and the drip tip as mentioned is a standard 510 so you can fit your own if you wish. ___________________________________________________________________ Filling Filling is easy enough but it's method also brings for me the only main con of the device as it does mean discarding e-liquid if you need to change coil head and still have liquid in the device! To Fill you unscrew the top sleeve off the top of the coil head and it pulls free leaving the open glass and coil in place. The coil is secured very well into the top of the battery so it stays 100% secured when unscrewing the top sleeve so had no issues whatsoever. This leaves plenty of room to fill the glass section between the edge of the glass and coil so even glass dropper bottles can be used. As mentioned the only issue is if the coil head needs replacing you need to discard any remaining liquid before removing the glass so you can unscrew the coil head. ___________________________________________________________________ The Coils You get two different coil heads provided which are the 1.3ohm CCELL coil head which is recommended at between 7-12W and is optimised for high mg freebase and Nic Salts. The wicking holes on this are very small and we have a narrow central bore so very much for MTL and i would be looking at using 50/50 ratio e-liquid. The other included coil has a wider central bore and large wicking holes and is the 0.6ohm Mesh coil head which is rated between 16-22W. This coil head is much more versatile and wicks fine even with high VG liquids. ___________________________________________________________________ The Airflow The airflow rather than just an open slot as on the Orca Solo the Plus version has a slot on the control ring but then it lines up with a series of small holes for much more micro management. There is 5 holes in total so 5 holes is fully open but also the option to have 4, 3, 2 or just one hole. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device The Orca Solo Plus offers 3 constant output settings but is still a simple device to use. The 3 settings give different wattage outputs dependant on the coil used so are obviously constant voltage settings but the equivalent (dependant on resistance) wattage output is given. The device is the standard 5 clicks to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off and both actions are confirmed by the fire button surround cycling through Green, red and Blue. When first used the device will be on the highest setting by default indicated by Green but from then on it does remember your last setting so if you were on the Blue setting for example and turned the device off and then back on you would still be on the Blue setting. To change setting is 3 quick clicks of the fire button to take you to the next setting and the fire button surround will flash 3 times in the new setting indication colour, the settings are as below: 0.6ohm Mesh Coil Head Red = 16W Blue = 18W Green = 22W 1.3ohm CCELL Coil Head Red = 7W Blue = 10W Green = 12W When vaping the surround of the fire button lights up solid to show battery status indication which isn't the 4 or 5 tier indications that i prefer but just 3, they are nicely spread out and fit for purpose, so pretty happy! Green = 70% - 100% Blue = 30% - 69% Red = 0% - 29% The device of course has all the usual safety protections you would expect which are indicated by various amounts of flashes in different colours! ___________________________________________________________________ The Battery One of the improvements over the previous version is the increased battery capacity from 800mAh to 1200mAh which is needed to give good life with the 0.6ohm coil but this can be controlled further by which setting you use. When using the CCELL 1.3ohm coil head then the device gives great battery life compared to similar devices. The charge rate is the same 1A as with the Orca Solo but obviously takes longer to charge because of the increased capacity. The device took 1 hour 15 minutes approximately to charge each time which is acceptable for the size of battery and also supports pass-through. Still in 2020 i believe even a pen style device should have type C USB but not sure if it would actually be safe to charge this type of device at a higher rate than 1A so being quite petty! ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience And Thoughts! Really not a lot to moan about with this and yes it would be a great kit for a new vaper but will have a much broader appeal than that. The different setting options in conjunction with good airflow adjustability makes this a really nice versatile little AIO Pen device which allows you to home in on the vape you want. The CCELL was no surprise but be careful to give it plenty of time to saturate thoroughly as they can get a burn't taste from the off if impatient. A bit of patience shown though and you will benefit from one of the most flavoursome MTL vapes you have had as Vaporesso are in a league of their own when it comes to ceramic coil heads. The range with this coil is what i would describe as a cigarette draw with 2 holes right up to a loose MTL fully open, just one hole gives an even tighter draw than a cigarette (more a tightly rolled roll-up). I used 50/50 12mg nic salts, 50/50 ratio on the Blue setting with 4 holes open for a mid to loose MTL. I love the 0.6ohm Mesh coil head which is lucky because a spare box was sent, flavour is on point and i was able to get 8 tank fills before the flavour just slightly started to drop off (still too good to swap out yet in my opinion) which is above average for longevity. This coil is so versatile allowing for a loose MTL or restrictive lung vape with 4 or 5 holes open but it actually gives a satisfying more authentic MTL with the airflow closed down including a cigarette type draw although for this just one hole is needed rather than two with the CCELL coil head. This coil head also allowed for much more versatility when it came to e-liquid ratios and it handled 70VG no problem whatsoever. I kept swapping vaping styles with this coil from a mid MTL with 3 holes on setting Blue and fully open on the Green setting for a restrictive lung hit. The battery status indication worked well and charging wasn't too long while also supporting pass-through. Battery life is not bad at all with the 0.6ohm coil but is fantastic for this type of device when using the 1.3ohm ceramic coil easily lasting a day! This simple pen style AIO offering shows you can have a good device and get a cracking vape without all the bells and whistles! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes Well made durable AIO device Metal construction Perfect balance between substantial feel and portability Ergonomic Protective top sleeve Easy to fill (even glass droppers can be used) 2ml capacity (increase over previous version) Spare Glass Standard comfortable 510 drip tip Can use own 510 drip tip Comes with both Mesh and CCELL coil heads MTL and even restrictive DL (versatile device) Good flavour and longevity with coil heads Good airflow adjustability 1200mAh battery capacity 1A charging rate 3 constant output settings Settings indications Battery status indications Supports pass-through Cons Need to discard e-liquid when changing coils Would prefer Type C USB Can't use battery and tank independently (obvious AIO device) More colour options would be nice I would once again like to thank Jessica from Vaporesso for supplying the Orca Solo Plus Starter Kit for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  23. Hi Vapor Talk, In this e-liquid review i take a look at 4 flavours from RockStar Vape Ltd. The 4 flavours are from the Keep It Cloudy Shortfill range and supplied for the purpose of this review by Kirstie from Rockstar Vape Ltd. <Removed spammy vendor picture> Introduction Rockstar are based in the East Midlands UK which pleases me as Leicester is not far from my hometown of Swadlincote so it's great for me to review products from the area i grew up in and still have family, where people still help people out without expecting something in return. ___________________________________________________________________ KEEP IT CLOUDY RANGE <Removed spammy vendor picture> The Keep It Cloudy Range is a large range of 80VG/20PG 100ml shortfills that includes flavours from most profiles. I received the following 4 flavours from the Keep It Cloudy Range: Strawberry Chew Fizzy Lemonade Peachy Twist Berry Blast ___________________________________________________________________ Testing Equipment I added 2 nic shots to each flavour making them all 120ml at 3mg strength and left four weeks to steep before testing (they didn't need this time i simply add the nic shots when i receive the e-liquid and i have had theses a while). ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Flavours Strawberry Chew The flavour here is not authentic Strawberry but that artificial Strawberry flavour reminiscent of every Strawberry Chew i ate as a child. This is a very simple e-liquid with the Strawberry Chew aroma that comes from the opened bottle being exactly what is experienced on the inhale, exhale and aftertaste, memories! SCORE: 8.75/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Fizzy Lemonade The Aroma of the open bottle is a strong Lemon but very sweet with no sharpness. The inhale is quite a strong sweet Lemon with just a hint of fizz, the exhale see's the Lemon just sharpen slightly and if anything the fizz is even less but just the slightest coolant freshens the vape up. The aftertaste see's the sweet Lemon return (no hint of that sharpness that emerged on the exhale) but the fizz comes to the fore leaving a tingle on the tongue, a well crafted fresh e-liquid! SCORE 9/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Peachy Twist When smelling the open bottle my senses were blasted with a juicy sweet Peach aroma with just an hint of Anise hovering like a Jack in the box in the background. Peach i really love but as a DIY enthusiast is a flavour i haven't managed to get right and when testing this e-liquid it was mixed feelings of really liking it but being jealous as the peach is a lovely sweet fleshy ripe peach and just so nice. The inhale see's Anise impatient in the background but not getting a look in as the gorgeous Peach flavour pouts it's stuff in the fore. The exhale see's Aniseed allowed off it's leash and the ripe juicy peach is now not the most prominent flavour but it compliments the Aniseed so well. The aftertaste surprised me as i expected Aniseed to linger but it starts a mix of Aniseed and Peach but with Peach outlasting it's companion leaving a juicy sweet fresh Peach flavour in the mouth! Nicest Peach i have tried with Aniseed giving it a real twist! SCORE 9.75/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Berry Blast The aroma of the open bottle is a lovely sweet blend of mixed berries which at this point both Blueberry and Strawberry can be identified but also their's a dark fruit present possibly Blackberry. The inhale is one of merged berries with Blueberry definitely part of the blend but also even more so than when smelling the open bottle a dark fruit giving the flavour some depth. The Exhale allows fruits to be identified with different berries pinging into the limelight on each exhale, Blueberry, Strawberry, Raspberry and what is now definitely identified as Blackberry are all present. The aftertaste goes back to a Blueberry dominant merged berry flavour with the now identified Blackberry lingering which leaves a very pleasant taste in the mouth! SCORE: 9.25/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion Not a weak link amongst these four excellent flavours from the Keep It Cloudy Range but the pick has to be Peachy Twist which was outstanding! <Removed spammy vendor picture> I would once again like to thank Kirstie from Rockstar Vape Ltd for supplying the 4 flavours from the Keep It Cloudy Range for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  24. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this review i take a look at the Nic-Hit Pro from MagicMist. The Nic-Hit Pro was supplied for the purpose of this review by Yan from MagicMist. Introduction MagicMist here in the UK have been working closely with Vaptio to bring us the Nic-Hit Pro which has taken the great design of the Vaptio Spin-It but made it smaller so much more portable. The basic design remains the same and although we have the same Vapio 1.0ohm pods they are now pre-filled with Nic salt flavoured e-liquid with one 20mg Authentic Cigarette flavour pod included. The reason for using the Spin-It design and Vaptio powered pods but now supplying them pre-filled with UK made Nic Salts in the choice of 2 strengths and 10 flavours is because MagicMist believe in the potential and hygienic design and the use of Nic Salts to give smokers the best chance to make the switch, let's give it a look! ___________________________________________________________________ In The Box Contents: Nic-Hit Pro Battery 1 x pre-filled 20mg 1.9ml Nic-Hit Pro Pod (Authentic Cigarette flavour) 1 x Spare Replacement Mouthpiece Kit 1 x USB Cable 1 x User Manual ___________________________________________________________________ Different Options The contents listed is for the Nic-Hit Pro Device Kit which is what i was sent but MagicMist have other options. The Nic-Hit Pro Starter Kit also overs a pack of 3 either 12mg or 20mg pods in which ever flavour you choose (this option is on offer at the time of writing and is actually cheaper than the device kit but you get 3 extra pods). The Nic-Hit Pro Deluxe Kit offers a carry case, 2 devices and 2 packs of extra pods, you can mix or match the colour of devices and choose which 2 flavours you want, so 2 devices and 6 extra pods (8 pods in total). The Nic-Hit Pro Platinum Kit offers a wall charger, carry case, 2 devices and 4 packs of extra pods which will give you 14 pods in total. ___________________________________________________________________ Aesthetics and Ergonomics There is no difference apart from branding aesthetically between the Nic-Hit Pro and Vaptio Spin-it but there is quite a difference in size. The Spin-It wasn't the smallest of this style of pod system but was still pocket friendly and with it's rounded sides very ergonomically sound but here with the Nic-Hit Pro we have an even smaller and ergonomic friendly device. It weighs a lot less than i expected and is made from Anodic Oxidised Aluminium Alloy. I received the Blue version, it's also available in Black and Red, all three colours in my opinion look both very nice and suit the overall look of the device. When in the vaping position the Nic-Hit Pro has a Black mouthpiece which looks fixed onto the top section so non removable but unlike the Spin-It's mouthpiece (although i haven't worked out how) must be able to be replaced as you receive a spare mouthpiece kit which comprises of a small section that gets fitted inside the cradle, mouthpiece and o-ring, i will describe the look of the device with the mouthpiece fixed inside the device. The front of the device has a Black plaque with "MAGICMIST" branding on the vertical at the top where the top section interlocks, the same plaque in the same position is also on the reverse. 40% of the way down the front of the device we have a pill shaped fire button which protrudes nicely and is the same colour as the device, finally there is an operational LED at the bottom of the front. Apart from the mentioned plaque on the back the sides and back are featureless with the sides being shorter than the front and back for the top section to interlock. The top section with the mouthpiece hidden away has a Black top with visible indented contacts for when fixing into place for vaping. The rest of the top section is the same colour as the device but a different shade to the main device giving it an aesthetically pleasing two-tone look. Both sides of the top section has very good sized viewing slots for seeing the level of your juice and the base of the device is Black with a central micro USB port. The design is stellar, no question, the Spin-It won several design awards back 2 years ago and the smaller size improves it further. Nic-Hit Pro Next To Big Brother The Vaptio Spin-It ___________________________________________________________________ Spin It Specs and Features: Dimensions: 22 x 18 x 115mm Battery Capacity: Built-in 500mAh Output Power: 10-15W Juice Capacity: 1.9ml Closed Pods pre-filled (flavoured Nic Salts) Next-generation Nic salts technology (Delivers Nicotine 3X faster lasts 2X longer) Pods available in 2 Nic salts strength 20mg, 12mg 10 Flavours Available Pods filled with UK made Nic Salt E-liquid Coil Resistance: 1.0ohm Material: Anodic Oxidised Aluminium Ally Charging: 5V/0.5A Extremely portable pen-style AIO kit Compact design with leak-proof engineering Unique spinnable drip tip design More hygienic and safer vaping experience Japanese organic cotton coil Smooth-tech flavor optimisation technology Compatible with Vaptio refillable Spin-It Pods Colours: Red, Blue, Black ___________________________________________________________________ The Pod The included pod is the same as the pod that came with the Spin-It and has the same 1.0ohm coil. What has changed is they are now pre-filled with 1.9ml of flavoured Nic Salts e-liquid and the white removable fill bung has now been replaced with a fixed Black plastic seal, the pods are still clear giving great visibility of your e-liquid. The airflow is on the pod itself and is a tiny rectangular slit, straight away you can tell this is a strictly MTL device. When opening the pod from the wrapping before fitting to the device the airflow slit and air pipe both have white silicone plugs inserted that need removing. To fit the pod into the device you need the mouthpiece in the position where it is fixed inside the device then just push the pod in place until it clicks, visible are the indented contacts which when the mouth section is spun and fixed in the position to vape will make contact with the spring loaded contacts inside the top of the battery section. Pre-filled pods are very convenient especially for new vapers who may want things as uncomplicated as possible but of course many will see it has a con that the pods aren't refillabe, the good news is the original refillable Vaptio Spin-it pods are fully compatible. Picture of pod that has had some use, they come full of e-liquid! Original Spin-It refillable pod which is compatible! ___________________________________________________________________ Nic Salts The pre-filled pods can be bought in packs of 3 at two different strengths 20mg and 12mg. The pods are pre-filled with UK made nic salt based flavoured e-liquid which according to MagicMist the nicotine acts 3X faster and lasts 2X longer and is the next generation nic salt technology. To be honest as Nic salts act much faster than freebase and due to how efficiently the body absorbs the Nicotine i'm sure this is what the marketing really is referring to. Nic Salts are in my opinion a good choice for new vapers but also handy for other vapers that find they need a quick nicotine fix that will last because they are in the position they can't vape as regular as they normally would. For example i vape a lot so only vape at 2mg but if i'm in the position i will not be able to vape often then 2mg no longer gives me the nicotine my body craves. The problem with freebase is because i have vaped at 2mg (DIY or 3mg commercial e-liquid) so long when upping my mg on these occasions i just can't vape higher than 6mg without coffin and really not enjoying it and 6mg is still not going to help much in these situations. Nic Salts based e-liquid i find so much smoother and can comfortably handle even 20mg although the 12mg option would be perfect for me, they act much faster and work efficiently so it's much longer until i need another vape. ___________________________________________________________________ The Flavours I was sent a pack of every flavour apart from Mango Ice to try and what's great about these pods are they just don't leak. I literally have had one of each flavour open with plugs removed and just been switching flavours out as often as The Beatles had hits. When going out and about i have just grabbed a few flavours, bunged them in my pocket and every 20 minutes or so swapped pods, the method behind the madness was to have a good try of all the flavours and test the durability even more than when i had the Spin-It of both the device and pods. Although having disposable pods that can't be refilled isn't the most economic option at £8.99 for 3 pods compared to other pre-filled pods, that's not a bad price in my opinion! The 10 available flavours are: Authentic Cigarette Dark Sweet Tobacco Menthol Ice Menthol Blackcurrant Menthol Mango Ice Strawberry Lemonade Raspberry Sherbet Juicy Blackcurrant Silky Vanilla The Authentic Cigarette flavour was very much like a tailor made cigarette taste and Dark Sweet Tobacco was a stronger but sweet and slightly Nutty tobacco flavour of the highest quality. Raspberry Sherbet, Juicy Blackcurrant and Strawberry Lemonade were also picks but i wasn't too keen on the Menthol flavours but then that's just my preference not that the flavours were not good, overall the flavours offered are very good and high quality! ___________________________________________________________________ Spinning It Once the pod is fixed into position you lift the top upwards (it clicks out of position) and spin the top-piece around to have the mouthpiece facing upwards, then push the top section down and it locks into the vaping position. When the top section is locked into position to vape the contacts inside the device connect with the already mentioned contacts which are visible when the mouthpiece is hidden away. When not vaping simply lift the top section (again you can hear as well as see it unlock out of position) and the top can be spun the opposite way, now with the mouthpiece pointing downwards push down and the mouthpiece lowers into the device and locks into position. The device can only fire when locked into position for vaping and when the mouthpiece is locked within the device it is kept clean and hygienic. ___________________________________________________________________ Durability The Nic-Hit Pro as mentioned is the same design as the Vaptio Spin-It, made from the same materials and has the same finish. I have had my Spin-It for 2 years now and it's still looking and functioning as good as it did when i first received it so i can vouch for the durability of this device. ___________________________________________________________________ Operating The Device The Nic-Hit Pro is a very simple device with no settings so simply when on press the fire button to vape. The device is the usual 5 clicks of the fire button to turn on and 5 clicks to turn off but when the mouthpiece is inside the device (recommended when not vaping) the device can't fire. With the LED which lights solid when vaping just flashing when the battery is empty and needs charging makes battery status indication non existent, the LED also flashes 5 times to indicate safety protections if they kick in! ___________________________________________________________________ Safety Protections Short Circuit Protection Low Voltage Protection Over Vaping Protection Over Charging Protection ___________________________________________________________________ Performance The Nic-Hit Pro gives a genuine tight MTL vape and the flavour is intense, very genuinely impressed with both the draw and flavoured Nic Salt pods when considering it's suitability for a new vaper trying to quit the stinkies. Despite this i hope they will consider also making the original refillable pods available which will broaden it's appeal. I did try to do a restricted lung hit but couldn't this is a MTL device all the way and you don't get loads of cloud production but it's decent enough. I do prefer a physical fire button on pod devices and because the Nic-Hit Pro can't fire when not in use (with mouthpiece locked into the device) this has allowed the device to have a very protruding one on the device that is very easy to find. The device will weaken as the battery runs down (direct output), you get about 15W when battery is full and at the lowest the device gives about 10W, i found the reduction in power happened so gradually and even at 10W gave a really good MTL vape ideal for nic salts. I also really like the fact the viewing slots are a good size and the pods are clear which means with just a quick glance you can see your juice level, also i must say the mouthpiece is very comfortable. I used this device not solidly but over a period of time and have tried 9 of the available 10 flavours, as mentioned they are very good and the included Authentic Cigarette flavour again is ideal for a new vaper as it tastes just like a fresh cigarette. While the kit comes in various options the Nic-Hit Device Kit which is the one i received only comes with one pod which is a massive con as every pod kit in my opinion should come with at least 2, even more so when the pod isn't refillable. Despite the much smaller size of the device the battery although smaller than in the Spin-It isn't much smaller being 500mAh which along with the efficiency of the device, 1.0ohm pods and using with nic salts (wouldn't be chain vaping using this) the battery will last most new vapers if not all day, the best part of it. I do reviews to inform vapers the best i can about products not to just repeat manufacturers claims and it does say this is a "Fast Charge" device and comes with a "Fast-Charge USB charging cable" when in fact this charges at 0.5A which is very sluggish. The device charges in just over an hour (would expect a 500mAh battery to be nearer 30mins in 2020) but the device does support pass-through. ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this device to a new vaper! ___________________________________________________________________ Likes High build quality Spin design Mouthpiece kept clean and hygienic when not in use Mouthpiece very comfortable Can't fire by accident Leak-proof (100% in my experience) Spare mouthpiece Kit 3 other kit options Lovely looking Pocket friendly Ergonomically friendly Good sized viewing slots Pre-filled UK made nic salts in 2 strengths and 10 flavours Supplied Authentic Cigarette pre-filled pod Pods good value (compared to competition) Original Vaptio Spin-It refillable pods compatible The pre-filled Nic-Hit Pro Pods are compatible with the Spin-It Flavours high quality Cigarette type draw Durable Good Battery life (for device using nic salts and high ohm coil) Efficient Supports Pass-through Cons Lack of battery life indication Non adjustable airflow Direct output (voltage drop off barely noticeable and gives good vape throughout) Pods non-refillable (unless you source some original Spin-It pods) Charging could be quicker (only 0.5A) I would once again like to thank Yan from MagicMist for supplying the Nic-Hit Pro for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
  25. Hi Vapor Talk members, In this e-liquid review i take a look at 5 flavours from Trip Hammer. Butter Shortbread Creme Glacee Frite Cream Tea Captain Crumble Vanilla Fudge Cookie Dough ___________________________________________________________________ A Trip Hammer One of Bolton's favourite sons, Fred Dibnah would of loved this piece of kit! ___________________________________________________________________ Testing Equipment I added a nic shot to each flavour making them all 60ml at 3mg strength and left two weeks to steep before testing. ___________________________________________________________________ My Experience Using The Flavours Butter Shortbread The Aroma of the opened bottle is a very butter rich biscuit with sweetness complimenting the buttery aroma. It's shortbread alright and no mistake and a very butter rich shortbread at that. Here we see the e-liquid consistent throughout inhale, exhale and aftertaste and is one of a butter rich biscuit which is plenty sweet without the sweetness trying to tread on the gorgeous butter rich flavour toes, damn nice! SCORE: 9.5/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Creme Glacee Frite The aroma of the opened bottle is very creamy with a hint of Vanilla, in the background is a deep fried smell which gives the overall aroma some depth. Never really been into all this fried ice cream but this e-liquid the more i tested it the more it grew on me and really was much better when using the Axial Pro set-up. The inhale and exhale is consistent with a creamy ice cream dominating but not overpowered with Vanilla, the deep fried flavour just gives the flavour depth which i wasn't over fond of but the more i vaped the e-liquid the more it grew on me. The aftertaste starts creamy and sweet but then a deep fried taste lingers which now has a sweetness like you would get from a fried doughnut, it's a grower! SCORE: 8/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Cream Tea The Aroma of the opened bottle is both sweet and creamy with a homemade Strawberry Jam complimenting just perfectly. I like this, as much as i like a really good homemade Strawberry Jam Flavour if i wanted it dominating then i would just vape a Strawberry Jam but in this e-liquid it has been used just to compliment a sweet cream and scone giving an authentic Cream Tea flavour. The exhale see's a more buttery flavour emerge to blend with the sweet cream so not quite as sweet as the inhale and the aftertaste is very pleasant being sweet and creamy with a Strawberry jam that lingers along with a Vanilla edge, very well crafted! SCORE: 9/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Captain Crumble The Aroma of the opened bottle isn't a million miles away from the Butter Shortbread smell, very rich but slightly less so than the Shortbread and just a tad extra sweetness. If you like scraping the top loose layer of a crumble and eating it because boy does it taste good, then you are in for a treat! The inhale has a cooked butter rich crumble mix flavour with plenty of sweetness. The exhale see's the merged crumble flavour separate into it's different components almost allowing even the texture of the crumble to be tasted .The aftertaste see's the flavours merge once again into a sweet butter rich mix which made me feel guilty, naughty but nice! SCORE: 9.5/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Vanilla Fudge Cookie Dough The aroma of the opened bottle has rich cream vanilla fudge and a under-cooked biscuit present. I don't think my middle aged spread will take anymore as here we have another guilty pleasure! The inhale rather than cookie dough i am tasting dough that has just been in the oven a few minutes to allow the lovely aroma that the heating process brings transfer to the flavour of this e-liquid. In the background but by no means playing second fiddle is a creamy fudge flavour that tastes like it was made from Clotted Cream. The Exhale and aftertaste stays consistent which i have absolutely no complaints about! SCORE: 9.25/10 ___________________________________________________________________ Conclusion A quality selection of Bakery and Dessert flavours which with the way my middle aged spread is going i would dare not eat the real things but vaping these flavours was a great fillet. These rich and sweet flavours didn't hold back or show any shame and apart from Creme Glacee Frite which is still a work in progress on my taste buds the other flavours were all picks! I would once again like to thank Tim from Trip Hammer for supplying the 5 flavours for the purpose of this review. ___________________________________________________________________
