This is pretty good stuff: https://www.vaportalk.com/us/shop/geek-vape-ss-twisted-clapton-tc-28ga2twisted-30ga/# Give me a minute. I want to look elsewhere real quick

If you have room, this is a nice build using a simple parallel core Clapton that will yield right around .25Ω. Great flavor build!!!

Yup, That's about right. 30g is going to be really difficult to work with though. Pretty thin. The lowest I go is 28 and even then I have to be real careful with pulling my cotton through without deforming the coil. You have discovered the problem with SS wire. It takes a lot of wire to get any resistance. This would be more reasonable:
  4. Looks really sharp too. This may be all in my head, who knows, but I've been spinning up a lot of 28*2+36 and 26*2+36 SS lately. I've tried more complex and twisted. I've also tried single strand Clapton. These simple parallel Claptons always make flavor pop for me. They're working well in TC, so they must retain a pretty linear TCR value as compared to simple wire. Ramp time is a little slower than nichrome or kanthal but that fits the experience I like. I enjoy that ramp time.
  5. I think we're on to something! We need to roll with this!!!
  6. Ah yes! You eeeee-ville Vaper you! Actually sounds like a good title to a movie. Kinda B stock but it could be a hoot.

Ya, why not. Jump on steam engine and see what you can come up with. You won't waste more than a foot of wire.
  8. Ya, then they turn black and fall out. Right after your toes fall off!.. Just kidding. Never heard of it.

Ok, ya stainless takes longer to ramp up than some other wires but it's not crazy long or anything like that. Just builds heat a little slower as you draw.
  10. Vapin along yesterday in TC with 55W available, a soft preheat for 1 sec @75 watts, 375°F and changed atties. Atty just under performing. Ok, put in a new build. Worked fine for a bit and started again. Got in Escribe and made some changes. Yikes! Screen reading OFF or 3350°F. The thing is off the rails. Hotter then hell. Restored firmware. Reviewed all profiles. Did diagnostics on atty resistance. Read a bunch of threads where folks did this and that and the problem came clear. Put it up for the night and this morning it's fine. Did a lot of things and have no idea what may have fixed it. Not a confidence inspiring experience by any means. My Therion is rock stable with the DNA75. This thing is just plain rocky.

Was there any explanation regarding why it may not be good? One of my favorite wires is 26*2+36. I don't have any premade but I just spun up about a foot of it tonight and installed it an a single coil Ammit. Great flavor producer and good control with TC. It is pretty low in resistance. Maybe it would be hard to get enough crammed into the atty to get a decent resistance as it is a two coil device. That may be the reason. Two 3mm diameter coils at 6 wraps each would only result with about .13Ω. For a 22mm deck with staggered posts that might be a bit difficult although your RX200 will handle down to .1Ω in wattage mode. Still really pushing the limit. Nicrhome80 or Kanthal would be easier offering more resistance.
  12. I've got to be the dumbest person on the planet. I didn't start until I was 24. I went to a bar with my brother in law after smoking something else and started to get paranoid. My brother in law told me smoking a stinky would bring me down. That was all it took. I was hooked. Forty years later I found vaping. Tried everything to quite over those forty years from mundane to insane. Crazy.
  13. She was blue. And shiny. And on sale. And she was calling my name.... Wally, Wally..... What could I do?
  14. Even if they don't short out and go into thermal run away a simple leak is a one each nasty mess. Great way to trash a hundred dollar mod with a ten dollar battery. I have to assume if your vaping you are an ex-smoker. Were talking less than two packs of stinkies. A single day's habit fee for most of us. We never thought twice about that in the day.
  15. Oh to have been a fly on the wall!!! Captain! She's gonna Blow!!!
  16. Thank you for bringing up the topic. I learned more about batteries too. Anything that is capable of putting out 20A of continuous DC current needs to be respected.
  17. If you're worried about them replace them. It's worth the price in peace of mind. Here's a link to information published by a guy who does vape battery testing. He goes by Mouch. https://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/blog-entry/18650-battery-ratings-picking-a-safe-battery-to-vape-with.7447/ There's a table in there that shows a bunch of batteries he has tested. Real nice to know info as it shows what batteries can actually do as apposed to what manufacturers say they can do.
  18. So far I'm loving both DNA and YiHi chipsets. Amazing firmware. Incredibly smooth in temp control. Were I you I would be snagging! BTW, kudos again on the Templar! Only mod I use now in that form factor. You nailed it with that unit. Mixed a few of my home brews in 50/50 and that unit shines!
  19. Thank God I snagged it! I mean, not to deprive you of the device or anything....... I really do enjoy it. Nice solid mod too as far as form, fit and function. Thanks for the great price!!!!! He has a good home!
  20. They have a new coming out with a color screen that appears to be more refined per menu system and displayed information. It's working for me. I've kinda went full circle. Chased some clouds with some lower resistance builds and more power for awhile and now I've been enjoying more relaxed vapes. I think of it as "sipping" on them. Real good flavor, very relaxed approach at a fairly cool 375°F.
  21. Building an RDA is a great way to get started into building. One can get the hang of twisting coils and mounting them and not have to deal with the task of wicking finicky RTA's. They produce the best flavor too. Instant gratification.
  22. I couldn't stand it anymore! I watched this poor little guy sit for months on the VT shelf all by himself. No friends. Like being on the island of misfit toys. Now he finally has a home. (He is a bit of a strange one. No off switch. Gotta be hooked up to a computer a lot) But I love him anyway.
  23. Ya, that's an obscure one but it makes sooooo much sense. And now your vocabulary is better than mine because you know my words and your words!!! You're welcome!!!
