When is the last time you charged the battery? They generally come 3/4 charged but not always. I'd let it charge for a couple of hours then see if that doesn't take care of the problem.

This link might help a little. Other batteries have an indicator to show how much charge it has, these pen/stick batteries, unfortunately, don't.

It might not be the battery. Have you tried changing to a whole new coil?
