Rip Trippers controversy?
hicksvilleshick replied to hicksvilleshick's topic in General Vaping Discussion
He says it in the first 15 seconds of the video, and the title (while I can't remember what it was verbatim) strongly implied it. Was something like short term side effects of vaping, or side effects of vaping. Having watched many, many, of his videos, you get an idea as to how he conveys things. To me it was clear what he was implying and that is his hypothyroidism was from vaping. Again, I'm all for him using his channel and fame to make money, but selling out the industry is clearly wrong. Blaming vaping for his hypothyroidism without any conclusive proof, to sell a supplement, well, I find that wrong. I'm not looking to tear him down, I am jealous of all the devices he's got, no doubt, but thats about it. lol I just think he made a bad choice that could potentially be bad for the industry. Like I said, I could see some politician using that video as justification to impose crappy taxes and regulations that horribly effect the rest of us.- 31 replies

Rip Trippers controversy?
hicksvilleshick replied to hicksvilleshick's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Oh and it was supposed to be unsubstantiated claim in OP. lol And now he's doing a big giveaway, I guess it's cost him some subs... Just seems all kinds of wrong. But yeah I'd bet some people are going way overboard. I find him amusing and informative, but I think he crapped on the community thats made him what he is. I can't fault him for trying to make money, but he's done gone and went shady here.- 31 replies

It's sad cause I was stoked to get the tfv4 because of the wide range of available coils for it, I thought it would be far better. We'll see tho, next time around I'm going to order something other than the claptons and see how that goes. I've got a xcube II coming and plan to have a all smok rig so hopefully it works out because I really, REALLY like the top airflow, and it does function very well when the coils are working well. If it doesn't I'll likely try to sell the damn thing off and get something else to ride the x cube.
-
Thoughts? Initially I didn't see the big deal in what he did, but then after thinking about it some more I think it was a pretty crappy thing to do. By his own claims, he vaped for 2 years before he had any symptoms, but he attributes his hypothyroidism to vaping? WTF? Then basically pitches a product, says it's not a paid advertisement then posts a "affiliate" (paid) link for said product. Our gov't is obviously a cluster#$*% on so many levels, and I can see them trying to use something like that with him being as popular as he is, and many considering him an "expert" to try to tax vaping like cigarettes, and make all kinds of ridiculous legislation based off his substantiated claim. I got no problem with him using affiliate links to generate funds, but the way he did it just strikes me as shady. Anyone else got any thoughts on this?

I can't say I could suggest a trident tank as I've never used one. I've only got the tfv4 and 2 triforce's. I can suggest the triforces, they have been awesome. The coils are far more consistent, I mean sure I've had maybe 2 or 3 doa and maybe 2 that I thought had short lifespans, but I've bought like 3 times as many triforce coils as I've had them longer and I still think I've had more failures with the tfv4 coils. Plus a triforce was my first tank other than a kanger tank, so I used the hell outta it at first, just pouring the juice down it. lol

cant decide on a tank! any suggestions???
hicksvilleshick replied to thinkineedhelp's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I would avoid the tfv4. I'm one that is having issues with the coils. No bueno. I would suggest looking into the triforce from cloud chasers, I have 2 and they have been fantastic. I just got the 30mm Saturday to go on my rx200 for while at work. Plenty of airflow. Flavor is fanatic, will cloud out my whole house easily. That being said I do like the tfv4's having the upper air inlet, so that herkales might be a winner too, I've just never used one. -
TFV4 Mini and Sigelei 75W box mod
hicksvilleshick replied to Spencebuddy8970's topic in New Vapers Forum
I've been running my tfv4 in the 65-75 range, on either my rx200 or sigelei fuchai 200w and as mentioned in the other thread I've been fighting crappy coils too. I can wholeheartedly suggest either the rx200 or fuchai. Both perform for me extremely well. The only cons I've encountered are on the fuchai the temp control seems to be lacking, I've only tried it on my triforce tanks, but without the adjustability that you get with the rx200 it won't hit right with those massive coils. The con on the rx200 is simply the screen size. I didn't realize how spoiled I was by the fuchai's screen size until I got the rx200. I hear the sigelei 150w is good too, but when I was shopping they were more expensive than the fuchai but that may have changed by now. -
I'm having similar issues. I'm burning thru coils for the tfv4 left and right. Mine came with the rba and I tried it, but it's airflow is more restricted and I was still getting burnt cotton tasting hits. I've been using the clapton coils, and I think the next set I get I'll either go with the triples or quads. I've started tracking coil changes on my tablet, and it's insane how quickly they are burning out. My triforce coils are lasting far longer. My kit came with a triple that lasted a few days, but I couldn't even try the quad because the threads were screwed up on it. I fired off a email to smok about the quad, and as I expected I got no response.

Ok so I found what appears to be a good guide. If I'm reading correctly after googling the specs for the LG HG2's it's a INR which makes it a hybrid and all good for vaping. IMR's are a step down. for what its worth.
-
Tried to edit and waited too long... lol Ninja edit: I just noticed they are Li ion, vs IMR. pros/cons? From my previous research I thought IMR was the safer of them and avoided Li ion, but saw that they were cheaper. Was I misguided on the li ion? I'm sure I was overly cautious being a noob when I originally looked into them. I have a 2 bay and 4 bay charger the 4 bay is the d4 nitecore with the display and all so I can charge the li ion's no worries.
-
Well I went and did it, I went ahead and pulled the trigger on a x cube II so I'll be ordering batteries dedicated for it, and I'll start replacing the existing ones as needed. I think I'll go with the LG HG2's as they seem to have the higher amperage and 3000mAh since charge life is a biggie for me. I'll also look to replace the 3 for the rx200 with those as well I think. I think I'll keep the green samsungs and efests for the fuchai, and beings I just ordered the x cube, I may be selling off the fuchai, I dunno, I'm kinda attatched to it cause it was the first rig I bought after the subvod (first vape) so hell I may just keep them all. lol Anyhow thanks so much for the info, you have been extremely helpful and I greatly appreciate the links! Oh would it be bad if I used the 4 batteries I'm using in the fuchai for the xcube for a couple days until the new batteries get here?

TFV4 coils, bad batch?
hicksvilleshick replied to hicksvilleshick's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Well since the clapton was dead already I went and tried the rba. I wicked it, primed it, threw it in the tank and let it sit for a few min, and tried it. Did not like, airflow is greatly reduced, and I still was getting burnt cotton taste 2 or 3 hits in. I took it apart, and checked the wick and it was well saturated, the tank didn't leak or nothing. I'm just kinda dumbfounded now. Ugh. I love the tfv4 but the hit or miss working is starting to get irritating. I plan on getting a x cube II shortly and hoped it would be the tank for it. I mean I just got a new 5 pack of claptons saturday and I'm already on the 2nd one of that pack. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH! Put the new clapton in and got it soaking now. Here's hoping it lasts more than a day. lol -
TFV4 coils, bad batch?
hicksvilleshick replied to hicksvilleshick's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Yeah I'll have to do that. I've got one premade single coil that came with the rba in the tfv4 kit. I've got no shortage of screwdrivers so I might just have to get into building for that rba. again, many thanks! -
TFV4 coils, bad batch?
hicksvilleshick replied to hicksvilleshick's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Crap, sorry I didn't mean to start a whole new thread if this was already a topic. I do have the RBA with it (the full tfv4 kit is what came with the rx200) I haven't used it yet tho. Are you saying that you can buy pre-made coils for the rba? I haven't gotten into building coils yet, and right now I don't really have the time to invest in doing so, but I do have a fair bit of cotton I got for the RDA I just retired, so if I can just use the RBA and keep the coil clean, and just re-wick it I may have to go that route. -
TFV4 coils, bad batch?
hicksvilleshick replied to hicksvilleshick's topic in General Vaping Discussion
No no tc as they are kanthal claptons smok premades, They omh out as advertised on the box they came in, in the .3 range. The current one is reading .36 on the fuchai. -
Ok so I don't know if I'm having rotten luck, or if there is something up with smok coils. I got a tfv4 tank in a package deal with my rx200 and I'm happy with the tank, I love the airflow, but I'm beating my head up against a wall trying to get a coil to last longer than a couple days. Hell the one I put in just yesterday is already giving off burnt cotton tastes. The kit came with a 5 pack of claptons, and I had 1 last me about a week and a half, the rest didn't get more than 3 days. The triple coil that came with the tank lasted about a week, and the quad coil also included in the full kit had the threads so jakked on it, it couldn't even be used. I'm running no higher than 75w which is well within their range. So I'm drawing a blank. I've tried lowering the wattage, but that kills the flavor. So I ordered another 5 pack of claptons from eciggity, and I'm running into the same deal it seems. I can't blame it on the juice, I don't think, the source is the same but different flavors, I'm running 20pg 80vg. I think the next set I order I'll get something other than the claptons, prolly the tri-coils, but I was wondering if anyone else was having the same experience? I run the same juice in my triforce tanks and neither have any issues those coils I can get at least a week out of. I appreciate any input.

Thank you! This is immensely helpful. I do have one question. Battery life for me is a issue, and why I jumped on the rx200 with the 3 batteries for while I'm at work and keeping a rig running all night. Isn't the mAh ratings indicative of the charge life? Should I expect less battery life with the suggested batteries? The imrens say 40A and 3000mAh. Currently the 3 imrens will last about 12 hours or so of pretty heavy vaping. I'm not too worried about the fuchai, having 4 batteries for it I've always got a charged set and can go a full day on the 4 I have for it because it gets less use. Also, about how long should I expect batteries to work? Do they last a year? 2 years? About how frequently should I expect to totally replace batteries? Again, many thanks!

Yeah the way I understood it cotton burns at about 420... As it turns out that coil was short lived... I got yesterday afternoon and this morning out of it before all it was doing was throwing cotton flavored hits... Ugh. Replaced it with a kanthal coil cause I wanted to try the same juice thru it. I'll revisit the ni200 later I guess. lol

When I got my rx200 the 3.0 update was just released, and what I've found is that the stock nickel mode doesn't work well with the triforce ni200 coils. Just the other day I finally found a post somewhere that suggested adjusting the tcr to the 600 range and it's actually working now. Although if I turn the temp up or wattage up it still kicks dry hits. But so long as I keep them down, it hits fine. Right now I'm running 60watts at 470-490 degrees and that seems to be the sweet spot. To contrast that I can't run TC on my fuchai, because I can't change the TCR. The stock preset just doesn't seem to work. I'm not sure if it's because the triforce's ni200 coil is so huge or what.

Bump Everytime You Buy Something New
hicksvilleshick replied to blucavvy's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I went out yesterday and hunted down a 30mm triforce. I have the regular one too, so since I'm already buying coils for it, I had to get the bigger one so I don't have to fill so much at work. I wish they had made it in black but I'll live. Finally found numbers to change the TCR to get the ni200 coils to work closer to right, so right now I'm running TC on the big tank. I do love the triforces, the production is excellent and flavor is fantastic. Overall I'm pleased with them. -
Ok I started to panic a bit. When I was getting batteries I've always tried to make sure I got the higher amperage batteries to make sure I had plenty of headroom. I baby my devices, they don't get put in my pocket, they have padded places to ride at work, the worst they get is put in the netted pocket on the side of my padded lunch bag walking into work. I'm going to be getting a x cube II soon so I'll be needing to get at least 2 more batteries for it and didn't know if I should look to get ones like I've got or try to source others. I'll have to try to go back thru the threads and see the links again to see if I can get some of the suggested ones cause you guys were talking prices cheaper than I've ever bought any at. lol Thanks for the info guys, I appreciate it!

Don't be afraid of the wattage, I have the rx200 and I don't go above 75watts. You set the wattage, it doesn't do it automatically. I got it primarily for battery life, it lasts all night at work and then some for me. I'm also using sub ohm tanks that tend to use a bit more juice. I also suggest buying tank/mod combo. I have the rx200 that came with a tfv4 tank and it's a good tank, but I seem to burn thru coils far too fast for my liking, I've only had one last more than a week. But I did just go out and get another triforce for the rx200 this time I got the 30mm one (huge) so I won't have to keep refilling at work. It holds like 12ml vs 5ml like most of the "larger" tanks. I seem to have better luck with the triforce coils, but you don't have as many options. tfv4's you can get quad, sextuple, octuple coils and the triforce is either kanthal or ni200, but they seem to last longer. My other mod is a fuchai also a 200watt box, but the temp control on it doesn't seem programmed right for temp control, I just got temp control working on the rx200 and I had to mess with the TCR settings on it to get it to work right. It's stock nickel mode just doesn't produce on the big triforce ni200 coil for some odd reason. One thing is certain, there is no shortage of choices out there... The market is absolutely flooded with options.

Ok, so I've got 2 mods I use. I have a rx200 and a fuchai. I have 3 dedicated imren batteries that came with the rx200, I've seen favorable reviews of them on the youtube, but I've also been doing some catching up here and seen folks here say that any batteries with amperage on the sleeve is bad. I have 2 purple efests, and 2 green samsung (25r's?) dedicated to the fuchai. I also have a dedicated purple efest for the ol ladies kbox (50 watt max) So knowing all that, and that I only seem to run between 55-75 watts on the rx and fuchai, am I ok? The coils I use are primarily premade, and run in the .2-.4 range. I've given up on my rda I had, it was a infinite clone and I got tired of jakking with the center post spinning, so I don't imagine I'll be running coils outside of the ohm range I've mentioned. I just started running temp control on one of my triforce tanks, and it ohm's out a .1-ish. I get juices mixed 20pg 80vg 3nic. I do want to try something 1.0 or greater, simply because outside of like a 1.2 kanger coil once, I haven't used anything other than sub ohm. I seem to be a flavor chaser more than anything else, clouds are nice, but flavor trumps clouds for me so I don't ramp the wattage chasing clouds. I'm not sure how much of this is pertinent to batteries, but figured I'd include it all. lol

I have the TFV4 and 2 triforce's. The triforce edges the TFV4. Both produce well, but I find the triforce gives a bit better cloud and flavor (ever so slightly) TFV4 has the upper airflow adjustment, I like that, I like that alot. It gives a shot of cool air with the warm vape and it's hard to describe, but I like it. Triforce has excellent airflow and I think it's slightly more than the TFV4. I run both TFV4 and triforce wide open, (well not my 30mm triforce I have to choke it down a bit, but the small triforce I run wide open) Coils: I'm struggling to get TFV4 coils to work consistently, I got a 5 pack of claptons with the rx200 tfv4 combo I got and 1 out of the bunch lasted more than a week. 2 lasted a few days (3-5) and 2 didn't make it past day 2. I have yet to try the rba for it yet, and I just got another 5 pack of claptons. The quad coil that came with the tank kit was DOA, because the threads are jakked so I didn't get to try it at all, the triple coil one that came installed lasted a few days and worked well, but prolly died early because it was the first coil in the new tank and I'm sure I abused the hell outta it. But I put a new coil in it 2 days ago, and had to change it out again today as it was giving me cotton flavored hits. Triforce coils seem to be far less fickle, I've only had 1 DOA and it was one of the NI200 that came with the small tank kit. Granted there are far less options for coils, but it seems thats less to go wrong in manufacturing. I think either would fit the bill for you. Edit: I forgot to mention, both are top fill which is a BIG plus.
