Grrr!!! The dreaded top coil. Here are a few tips that might help out. The secret is to get the wick as close to that positive post without it touching. You want as little room between the wick and positive post as possible. Here's a pic. Also 80% of all problems people have with gennys are either the mesh isn't oxidized enough or the wick isn't close enough to the positive post. If you are having problems with shorts it's usually one of 3 places (wick in contact with the top cap, in contact with the bottom of the tank, or not oxidized enough where the wick enters the wick hole) Hope this helps.

Some of you may know of the vaper and the V2 is soon to be released. So first we'll talk about the vaper and then we'll talk about what's new in the V2. The Vaper is a small hybrid device (the genesis atomizer is permanently affixed to the body) Made by peter k. It takes a 14500 battery and sports a 2.7ml tank. What makes the vaper unique is the the idea of making an automatic battery like the crappy blu ecigs where you didn't have to press a button to activate it. The problem was that blu and many other cigarette look alikes method of firing the device required suction to activate the "auto battery" which was a really poor design. Peter came up with the idea that the lips could push a piece of metal against a metal mouth piece to complete the circuit. Basically making a manual battery have the convenience of an auto battery. He wrapped the mouthpiece with a comfortable silicon sleeve and the Vaper was born. The Vaper V2 further improves on Peter's concept. The "mouth" switch has been redesigned to be more comfortable and instead of it being a manual switch it is now electronic. The diameter had to be increased to accommodate the new change. The step you can see for the mouthpiece will be more flush.

I know a lot of you are aware of the Orion. Well the V3 is just on the horizon. (Within the next month) I am one of the 1st 50 on the list so I'll update this thread with any and all new info. First lets go into what the Orion is first and then I'll go into what's new in the V3. The Orion is a Hybrid device (the genesis atomizer is permanently affixed to the body of the device) made by Les (Nosmoker on the forums) out of Germany. The top cap and mouthpiece are one unit. The button is an electrical button developed by a guy named pailpoe from France. It can be run with one sleeve for an 18350 or add another sleeve to accommodate An 18650. It's known for it's amazing flavor compared to other hybrids. The list (which is very long) can be found on http://www.vaporwall.com. I personally have been on it for over 4 months now. (I was given the opportunity to buy the V2.1 in Dec. but passed due to the V3 coming out) Ok now on to what is new about the Orion V3. Part of the reason for such the long delay in production is that Les was acquiring patents for some things on the device. The V3 has a new air intake and draw control ring, which honestly is brilliant. It also reduces leaking that plagues genesis atomizers. And that's pretty much all we know at this point. Here are a couple pics of the air intake and control ring. Keep in mind that this is still a prototype if ya can believe it.

Uma it depends on how Jim implements it. If it's just a shield that makes it more streamline then it'll act like the DID. If it mounts right on to the connector then it will be a true hybrid. The Orion V3 is going to be the same size 18650 and 18350. The only difference we know of so far is an air control ring and how the air enters the device. Here's a couple pics. i got ya Rixter and my post wasn't to call you out but to clarify and reiterate what I and you were saying. And we thought Ohms law math was the most confusing part of this conversation. Lol

Yes using standard attys, cartos, clearos that use the same gauge wire running at 9w would taste identical. When you start using different gauge wire it is not the case. You could make a 2ohm coil with 32g kanthal and one with 28 gauge kanthal and they taste way different.

This only really applies to genesis atomizers when using different gauge wire. When using a low resistance 510 atty or a standard resistance 510 the difference isn't noticeable because it uses the same gauge wire. The only difference is the length (amount of wraps) of the wire.

I knew someone would bite. Lol! It absolutely is not the same experience. 28 gauge Kanthal is obviously thicker in diameter. Hence covering more surface area of the wick, which in turn comes in contact with more juice at once. Don't believe me try it. I've done it and the experience is absolutely noticeable. Sometimes we all get caught up in the math when at the end of the day it's something subjective like how we experience 8 watts that throws it all out the window.

Also what voltage are you using with what ohm atomizer? Plays a huge role in throat hit. I haven't met anyone who ordered it that didn't find at least 2 or 3 flavors they didn't fall in love with. I'm really picky when it comes to juice. I vaped the same juice every day for over a yr. without finding something I could vape for more than an hr. without switching back and I fell in love with 4 flavors from AIV. Shipping right now takes a really long time though as they have just moved their entire shop across country. Takes 10-14 days to ship but it's mixed to order and well worth it.

Heathers Heavenly Vapes has Heavenly tobacco which is an RY4 and very good also. All their NETs (naturally extracted tobaccos) are really good and price is pretty darn good too.

Funny how we all forget that when we smoked we spent $6 a pack. A hybrid even at $300 is less than 2 months of smoking. Come on do it! (Peer Pressure! Jk!!) They do hold their value very very well also. Hybrids like the Orion V2.1 are selling for more than retail value because they are so popular and the supply is very low. I'm on the list for the V3 and have been for about 4 months now.

Just pissed me off jeffb that we as vapers took the fall. Not to mention that if another person comes in with a similar condition and they are vapers that there is now documented precedence. Grrr!!!

Here's a question. If you have the same wattage output using 28 gauge Kanthal as using 32 gauge Kanthal is it the same experience? Of course I'm talking about genesis atomizers in particular.

Lets wrap this up. Come to find out about a yr. later that he's a highly functioning, multi millionaire drug addict that just so happened that he didn't want to tell the doctors that he had taken his dogs pain medication. Since the doctors couldn't figure out what was wrong with him they blamed it on vaping. Ignorance pisses me off to no end.

Completely off topic but I don't know if you realize it Uma because I haven't posted here in forever but VT was the 1st forum I ever joined and you along with jeffb, vtmark, jolly,and jag helped me quit smoking over 2 yrs. ago!!! You guys recommended the then new eGo starter kit. Lol how time flies! So basically it's your fault I've turned into the mod junkie I am. Lmao!!! Ok back to our regularly scheduled program... Also people say you're stuck with the atomizer you have on a hybrid but that's not the case. I can build any ohm atty I want with different gauge wire and wraps.

I don't use kicks. Especially with gennys. I vape way too low ohm coils for a kick to be of any use to me. Lol

Happens to me all the time. For me anyway it happens when I get a toot that gives me a wicked throat hit. Also happens if I get juice in my mouth. Every time! Try lowering your nic. It'll happen less often. Trust me.

Ok so why have a mod with only one type of atomizer that your stuck with? Seems stupid right? There is logic to this. The reasoning for it is that because there is current loss whenever you have a connector like a 510. In a hybrid device the genesis atomizer comes in direct contact with the battery meaning no loss of power which is important when you are talking about mechanical mods.

I just keep doing the mod shuffle. Got some money together for my bday 2 yrs ago and got a provari and 2 Phidias box mods ($175 and $225), sold those 2 and got a Darwin (still have it), sold 4 lava tanks for cash for an iHybrid, then just sold the iHybrid for the Poldiac and DID. Figure I'm not spending $7 a pack for smokes anymore. Who am I kidding? I'm a mod junkie!!! I'm on the list for an Orion V3 and the Vaper by Peter K. Almost pulled the trigger on the Temon by Jim also last week. Lol
