  1. I use stainless steel coils exclusively. They work with wattage mode and TC and they give a cleaner taste in my opinion. I have never tried Ni coils, people say they need a break in period before they taste good, so I have never tried any, but some people swear by them. I suppose for Ni coils you would do the same as any other coil. A 0.2 coil probably needs more power than my 0.5 coil so bump the power up. Also your juice might need more heat. Some of my juices need more heat than others.
  2. Those power charts are obsolete, I think the CL is the Clapton coil but could be wrong, if it is you will want to use power mode with that one. I use a Kanger 120w TC with a kanger Subtank mini on top of it and run it between 400f - 450f with a SS 0.50 coil. I'm not given a choice of wattage when running in TC mode. When using the wattage mode I use 10 - 12 watts with the same coil.
  3. As long as you are getting it figured out you will be fine. I have been vaping for over 2 years and just tried TC a few weeks ago, and am still learning. If you are using the RBA you are a lot farther along than a lot of other people. That mod you are using has a lot of built in safety features, most people that blow them selves up are using mech mods and not using them right.
  4. Are you using that Evic VTC in watt mode or in TC mode?
  5. What ever you want to know about vaping someone here will know the answer, and if we don't know the answer we will make something up.
  6. Welcome to VT and you will get lots of help here.
  7. I received my Kanger 120 TC yesterday and have been messing with it a lot. It seems to be solidly built, and uses 2 18650 batteries in series, I believe they are in series because one battery goes +up the other goes +down. The battery door fits really well, and is a little difficult to get off the first time. It has 4 TC modes besides wattage mode, Ti, Ni, NiCr, and SUS, SUS is the Chinese way of saying SS. I have only tried Ti, and SS 316L coils so far, the Ti coils will make it pulse very noticeable, the 316 coils don't seem to pulse at all, except you can see the watts change in the display. Another thing is the TCR curve for the SUS mode seems to be for SS 304, when I set the TC for SUS I have to set it about 50 degrees lower than what I want it to be. Right now I set it between 350f and 390f depending on the juice I'm using, which means its running from 400f to 450f going by Steam engine calculations. The firmware is upgradeable so maybe in the future they will have a upgrade changing it to a 316L curve. In the end I have to say its a well built mod, but a little bigger than I prefer, its only 1mm thicker than the Kbox mini, but 2mm taller and 17mm wider. It will make a good at home mod. Its probably the same as the Kbox 200w TC mod, but I decided on the 120 because I don't need 120 watts much less 200 watts, besides they didn't have the 200 in stock, and its about $10.00 more.
  8. Welcome to VT, Vaping is a great alternative to smoking.
  9. That's the resistance at room temp but the resistance does change with heat check out steam engine they can do a better job of explaining it than me. They also have charts and graphs and other things. http://www.steam-engine.org/wirewiz.asp
  10. The curves are how the resistance of the coil changes when it changes temperature. The hotter the coil the more resistance it has, that's how TC works is what I'm told. The mod senses the resistance change and uses that to regulate the temp. I'm not even close to being a rocket scientist, but I did stay at a Holiday inn once.
  11. Today I got my order from Sweet Vapes, a Kanger 120w TC mod and 2 LG HG2 batteries to power it. It has 4 TC modes, Ni, Ti, SUS, and NiCr, besides watt mode. I believe the SS mode is set to a 304 SS curve, I use 316L SS and the TC is off in SUS mode. I get a very good vape at 375f which according to steam will heat a 316L coil to about 425f using a 304 curve, I will have to do more research to know more, like checking coil temp with a IR temp sensor. But for now I'll just use the setting that works for me. Also set at 375f a dry cotton wick will barely start to singe.
  12. Acrylics can be easily machined with the proper tooling, the only problem is the temperature rating is only about 160f for most acrylics, also some juices have been known to crack acrylic. I don't know where to get acrylic round stock with swirls in it, but its probably available from somebody.
  13. I only run 10 - 12 watts with my setup, I'm not much of a cloud chaser but I can fog up a room pretty good. I only used 50 watts once and got a big hit of burnt cotton, haven't tried it since. I tried SS last month and now I use nothing but SS for coils, except in my KPT tanks. Its easier to work with and gives a cleaner taste than Kanthal. The only time I can see using 50 watts is when multiple coils are used, the more coils you have the more wattage you need, that's just my opinion, and other people may disagree with me. I have never tried a Clapton coil, and they will probably use more power too.
  14. Congratulations on beating the nic, Sounds like the build I was using until I went with 28g SS316L wire for coils. Now with a 5/4 wrap I get 0.5 ohms. Seems to work better for me, but everybody is different.
  15. I have used a heated sonic cleaner for fast steeping, also have a small crockpot that's about 4 inches in diameter and about 4 inches deep that I have been thinking about trying.
  16. People that have been vaping for awhile know when they need to replace the coil, or when they need to rewick. I just do it out of habit. I don't have any top fill tanks, I might like them too, only time will tell.
  17. The Subox mini will only fire down to 0.3 ohms so if you stay above that you will be fine. As far as wire goes that depends on what you want. Be sure to check the ohms of your build with a dependable tester.
  18. Kanger is changing to a top fill subtank, not sure when they will be available, but not sure if it will be a good thing or not. I have a good stock of subtank minis and Nanos, but might order a few more. Don't matter to me if I unscrew the top or the bottom to fill it. I like to check the coil when I refill so the bottom fill is good for me. I think most people might overfill the top fill tanks, and not leave enough air space.
  19. I didn't get any vape gear for Christmas, so I preordered a Kanger platinum 75w TC today. due to ship about January 25. As far as PCs go overkill is always better.
  20. I use a 30PG/70VG ratio in my Subtank minis, I also have a couple of Nanos which use the same coil, except for the RBA, in the minis. They all work well at 10 - 12 watts. But I live in a different area with a drier climate and higher altitude (3500 feet). Don't know if the altitude makes any difference though.
  21. Anytime you get something shipped from China it takes awhile to get. My last package from China took longer to Get from SF to here (less than 500 miles) than it took from China to SF. Of course if USPS would not have routed it through Houston I might have gotten it faster.
  22. It isn't a option for the Dovpo, But they do stock some of the more well known brands in the US like istick and Kanger stuff, like right now if you bought a Kanger subtank mini kit from China it will cost 49.98 if you get one from their US warehouse it is 10.00 cheaper.
  23. When ordering from Gearbest remember they do have a USA warehouse that they can ship from, but you have to check if that product is stocked in the US usually they have a little US flag in the options, sometimes the price is even less.
  24. About the only thing that works well with 100% VG is a dripper, other than that try thinning your juice with distilled water, it doesn't take much water to thin VG try a couple of drops per ml. Don't use tap water it contains chemicals that cities put in it like chlorine, and other nasty stuff. If you are using a citrus flavor you can use lemon juice instead of water. If you use a plastic tank don't use lemon juice for a thinner.
  25. I got my 316l from Slowtech, I want to know what grade SS Kanger is putting in their new coils, that grade is what their new mods will be set up for. I canceled the mod I preordered because I found out it didn't have a SS mode for TC. I'll wait for the new Kanger 75w TC to come out next month sometime, it looks like a very promising chip setup. The 120w and 200w are too big for my preferences.
