FDA Regulations Explained - Updated Thread
FXRich replied to Christopher's topic in Vaping Legislation & Regulation News
What good is a picture ID if the online retailer can't see if you are the person in the picture? Kids have been using fake ID to get into bars for years. -
When are the Vape police going to be hired? Local law enforcement don't have time to enforce the FDA rules, nor do they want to, except maybe when it involves minors.

I agree with you, I have both a 160w and a 120w, and use a .5 coil in TC mode. I know I don't get over 25w, except for the initial surge to get the coil up to temp. But the battery life is great, and I only use them at home because of the size, and weight. Away from home I use a 75w TC or a Subvod.
-
I'm going to wait awhile before I order any more mods, at least until I see what Chris can come up with, I don't even mind spending a little bit more to help to support the forum.

Free would be nice, but I know that's not going to happen. I think I paid SV about $37.00 for the one I have now, you have the store, the price is your decision not mine. My customers don't tell me what to charge for machining, I tell them what it's going to cost. The main reason for the 160w is there is no paint to come off. Also its a great mod.

http://www.hotvapes.com/kanger-1300mah-subvod-battery.html This is one place that has them, there are a few others too. I have a few places that I buy from, and don't really want to add more places to buy from.
-
I'm looking into getting a couple of extra Subvod batteries, they work great with a KPT tank on top, besides I can keep one charged for when a battery goes dead on me.
-
I would like to order from V/T, but I use Kanger tanks, and mods, which you have a shortage of. I would like to get 1 or 2 more Kanger 160w TC Kbox mods, but you don't carry them. I also have been thinking about getting a couple of extra Subvod batteries, some places carry them, but none of my regular suppliers have them. I use Kanger Subvods a lot lately and it would be nice to just switch batteries, instead of waiting for the battery to charge. This winter when I quit riding my bike as much, I will not use the Subvods as much, but I still like them. One reason I use Kanger so much is I only have to keep 1 kind of coil for all my tanks, instead of a bunch of different coils for different tanks.

good sites for liquid where you can pick the ratio
FXRich replied to Leighanne's topic in New Vapers Forum
Personally after a few years of vaping I have settled on a 30PG/ 70VG mix, but I use Subtanks mostly, and different tanks perform differently with PG/VG ratios, so a lot depends on what tank you use and the coil you use. There is no ratio that works for everybody. -
Now that I have plenty of mods and tanks, the only things I need are coils and, juice. 18650 batteries can be bought from many sources, flashlight supply websites, and possibly RC stores, wire can be bought from jewelry making suppliers (except for Kanthal), wicking materials can be bought from beauty supply stores. I DIY my juice, so that should not be a problem, except for the nic base, (I currently have 2 1/2 liters of 100mg VG base). The new regs won't affect me much, but the new vapers will be hurt.
-
Does the FDA understand that the new regs will kill jobs? I have to agree with Adversarious, this is not the place for politics, but Oregon also has 2 senators with a D after their name, and the Congressman from my district is the only non D from this state, we also have a non elected Governor who wants to raise taxes, it is a real mess here.

Where to find true stainless kanger coils?
FXRich replied to Foofightervapegirl's topic in General Vaping Discussion
The only way you can be 100% sure of using a SS coil in a Top tank mini is to use a RBA with a SS coil in it. I thought the RX200 was capable of using Nichrome in TC mode, but after looking it up found it doesn't have a NiCr mode. I have used the Kanger TC using the NiCr mode, and it does work well, but I prefer the SS in TC. -
I have never needed to use their customer service, maybe I'm one of the lucky ones. Mostly I only use them when Vape NW don't have what I want, or when they are a lot cheaper.
-
Speaking from personal experience, I have ordered a lot from Sweet Vapes, and never had a problem with them. Always good prices, and fast shipping. But that's just my opinion. Maybe in the past they had employee problems, and have fixed the problem since then.

Is it safe to vape after root canal treatment?
FXRich replied to jelitz21's topic in New Vapers Forum
Just be sure to clean the booggers off before putting in your mouth, or use a different drip tip. -
I also have had no issues with them leaking, or any other problems using the subtank mini RBA. As far as the ceramic coils go I haven't tried any, but when a coil gunk's up it time to change the coil no matter what the wick material is. Ceramic may hold up to dry burning, and that might be good, but changing cotton is easy to do.
-
Can't answer that, but you might be able to order them from someone in the US, since they will still be sold here, or I believe they sell a RBA for those, you can make your own coils.
-
Only applies to new products sold in the EU, if you already have a tank that holds more than 2ml you can keep it and use it. That's how I see it.
-
Wizard labs or Heartland vapes in my opinion are the best choices. I don't know about Wizard Labs, but Heartland Vapes has DIY starter kits.
-
I know one person that floods the coil with a lot of juice then puts it upside down on a paper towel for a few minutes to let the excess drain out, it works for him.
-
It might be helpful if you said what kind of tank you are using, some coils are easier to prime than other coils.
-
Everyone has a different way of priming a coil, lately when I change a coil I don't prime it at all, I just fill the tank with juice and let it sit for at least a 1/2 hour or so, but I have numerous tanks so I can do that. Another thing is you can cover the air holes with your fingers when you draw on it without firing it, and that will help pull juice into the coil. If you over prime a coil it will not burn the coil, flooded coils gurgle and spit a lot, but usually clear up in a few minutes.

It depends on the mod mostly, mods with built in batteries have basically the same batteries as the mods with replaceable batteries only they are soldered in, with my single battery mods I use a external charger and replace the battery when it gets low, my dual battery mods I charge in the mod. I guess its a matter of personal preference. The only mod I can think of that batteries should be charged outside the mod is the RX 200, because people have had problems with the batteries charging unevenly due to the battery configuration. Charging with a external charger makes it easier to just switch batteries instead of waiting for the battery to charge, Just my opinion.
-
When I mix a test batch that doesn't taste very good, I put it in a bottle labeled Dirty sock, after a few bad batches I give it a try, if it tastes good I relabel it Clean Sock, other wise I toss it.

Since you are using a Kanger 160w, it is important to keep the batteries married, I also use a Kanger 160w mod, but I don't charge the batteries with a external charger, when I got it I put 2 new LG HG2 batteries in it, and charge them in the mod. You may not have other mods to use while charging, so using a external charger is probably the way to go for you. I do remove the battery cover while charging to keep the batteries cool.
