Different people like different kinds of wire, some prefer Kanthal, others prefer Nichrome, personally I prefer SS 316L, but that's me. Basically what you need to get started is a coil winding tool, I like Coil Master, others may like something else, and you will need a good ohmmeter, don't go cheap on the ohmmeter. And you will need wire, the gauge wire depends on your target ohms.

God made some men big, and other men small, but Samuel Colt made all men equal.

Bump when you get something in vape mail.

Got a Kanger 160w Dripbox, and 2 LG HG2 batteries from the VT store today, don't know yet whether I'll like it or not, its my first dripper. -
Actually the largest earthquakes in North America didn't happen in Cal. The largest one recorded happened in Alaska in 1964, it was a 9.2, and another happened in Missouri in 1812. Scientists believe the one in Missouri may have been bigger than the one in Alaska, but that was before they were able to measure them.

Maybe Vegas will have beach front property. This planet has been changing for millions of years, mother nature is going to do what it wants to do. Nothing we can do about it. I talked to a geologist a few years ago, he said a couple of thousand years ago this was wetlands where I live, now its called a desert.
-
Been hearing for years how Cal is going to fall into the ocean, means they are going to go somewhere else, going to have to build a wall.
-
No earthquakes, tornados, or flooding here, and fire season is pretty much over, but the scientists say we are overdue for a volcano.

With the subtanks I use different colored O-rings, works for me.

Right now I'm running a .5 SS coil in a RBA in a subtank mini in watts. The reason I'm running watts instead of TC is I only get 1 tank per coil with the coffee flavored juice in it when in TC, in watts I get 3 tanks per coil. Other juices in TC seem to last weeks between coil changes. I have to agree about Clapton coils, I wasn't impressed with them either.
-
You can use SS in watt mode, I do it all the time, but I have noticed when dry burning it they seem to get hotter than dry burning Kanthal or Nichrome.
-
Dry burning a Clapton coil might get it hot enough, I just ordered a 160w Dripbox it comes with dual claptons installed, now I'm thinking about ripping them out and putting in a couple of other coils.

I find it a little distracting, but I know glitches can be in every software, I'm sure other people have seen it, personally I try to ignore it. -
If you can find someone to give you $20 for the other one yours would be free, I couldn't pass that deal up either.

I have a U10 in the car, can only charge 1 battery at a time, but better than nothing.

Jason could probably explain it better than me, but TC is based on TCR (temperature coefficient of resistance). Metal changes resistance when heated, some change more than others. TC measures the amount of resistance change, and determines the temperature based on how much the resistance changes. TC assumes the coil resistance when locked in as being 68f. As an example at 392f Ni200 increases resistance 108%, Ti 66%, SS316 17%, NiCr 2%, and kanthal .04%. As you can see Kanthal doesn't change enough for it to be used for TC, and NiCr (Nichrome) changes a very small amount, but some mods can measure it. That is why it is so important to chose the correct mode when using TC. The newer mods are more sensitive to resistance changes than last years mods. I have read that the Hohm Slice can detect changes in Kanthal, but don't know for sure. I have used Kanger mods with the NiCr (Nichrome) TC setting, and it does work.
-
There is a difference between Ni200, and Nichrome 80, Ni200 which is used for TC is pure nickel, Nichrome 80 is 80% nickel, which normally can't be used for TC. Nichrome only changes resistance by about 2% between 68f and 400f, (read that somewhere, can't remember where) which means a .5 Nichrome coil changes by .01 ohm between 68f and 400f. If someone is using a .25 coil the change is only .005 Ni200 resistance changes by about 50% during the same temp change, so a .15 Ni200 coil will change by .075 ohm, its a lot easier to measure a .075 change than it is to measure a .01 change. I got a lot of the info from Steam. I hope I have not confused anybody. Some Kanger TC mods have 4 settings Ni (Ni200) Ti (Titanium) SS (stainless Steel), and NiCr (Nichrome 80). My bad Ni 200 actually doubles in resistance between 68f and 400f.
-
I only know of 2 mods that can use Nichrome in TC, and they are the Hohm Slice, and some of the Kanger TC mods, there may be others, but not very many.

Sorry to hear about your bad luck with the Cupti, I figured it would have the same chipset as the 75w Kbox, I use 2 of them in my daily rotation, and they work great for me. Maybe they use a poorly designed chipset, or maybe you got a bad one, I guess we will never know for sure. I don't think it was user error on your part, seems you got a bad one.
-
Another bad thing is getting down the road a few miles, and discovering you forgot to change the battery, and its really low, and you have to use your backup, and that battery is not to great either. That's why I keep a charger in the console.

The vape gods must be smiling on me today, I twisted up some tiger wire like Comp said to, Twisted 30g round and .5x1 flat wire, wraped 5 wraps on 3mm installed it in a OCC coil and got 1.2 ohms, just like I wanted. Now to wick it and see how it vapes.
-
I twist wires, but if I try a Clapton coil which I probably will, I'll just buy the premade stuff.
-
Normally I use 4 wraps of 28g kanthal around 3mm and get 1.1 - 1.2 ohms, works good for me. I think the OCC coils are easier to rebuild than the KPT coils, but that could be just my opinion and others may disagree. One thing I do is when I rebuild a OCC coil I use a 3mm file to make the hole a little bigger, they are slightly under 3mm in diameter.
-
I think the OCC coil has longer legs than the KPT coil, a lot of the OCC coils are .5 so don't think I'll have a heat problem, and they have more airflow.
-
I was thinking about when I rebuild a Kanger OCC coil, but I try to keep the resistance about 1.2 ohms, I may have a hard time getting that.
-
Maybe if I twist up a couple of feet I can get enough good wire to make a couple of coils. I'll try most stuff at least once.
