What did I learn about vaping today......
FXRich replied to cany's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Wait until you get to 0mg nicotine, sweet juices get sweeter, and if you use a high VG mix there is no coughing. Nicotine has a pepper taste to it, I know this because when I get VG on my fingers I lick it off its very sweet, normally I would not do this with my VG nic base, but accidently did it once. tasted like a mouthful of black pepper. Last time I do that. That was about 1 drop of 100mg base, so only about 5mg nic, nowhere near a fatal dose, but sure tasted bad. -
a couple of questions on the subtank nano
FXRich replied to Foofightervapegirl's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Actually I have to revise my previous post. When using a BDC coil in a Subtank Mini it is advised that you take a top cap off a BCC coil and put it upside down on the BDC coil, that will stop any leaks. -
a couple of questions on the subtank nano
FXRich replied to Foofightervapegirl's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I use subtank nanos daily, and can say that no the BDC coils do not work in them, The BDC coil does work in the Subtank mini though. The chimney on the Mini is large enough for the BDC to fit in it, but the chimney on the Nano is too small for the BDC to fit into it. If you use 2 top caps on the KPT single coils they will work in the Mini also. -
It probably varies a lot for people, but for me the hand to mouth habit is the hardest to break. I'm down to 2mg nic, and don't see a problem going to 0 nic, but still enjoy vaping, and will continue to vape even if I go to 0 nic. I have read a few places that nicotine in small doses can be beneficial to brain health, so maybe I'll just stick to 2mg.

Having multiple tanks is great, but having multiple tanks that use the same coil is better. I use 10 tanks in rotation, 6 subtank minis/toptank minis, and 4 subtank nanos, they can all use the same coil. Whatever your choice in tanks are Crown tanks, or Smok, or eleaf, its a good thing to try to get tanks that all use the same coil, it just makes things easier. -
Another way to look at is a 1.5 ohm coil at 9W runs 3.7V, a .5 coil at 32W runs 4V, so a .5 coil will run 2.1V at 9W which probably isn't enough to get it hot very fast. Not much difference between 3.7V and 4V.

Your .5 coil is made of wire that is a heavier gauge than the 1.5 coil, so there is more metal to heat than the lighter gauge wire, An example would be when welding with a heavier wire you need more amps then with a lighter wire. I use temperature control most of the time, and it takes more watts to keep the temp at what I want when using a heavier gauge metal than with a lighter gauge wire. I'm not very good at explaining things so I might have confused you even more.

Wismec- Releaux 2/3 dual battery help needed
FXRich replied to Edna's topic in Batteries and Chargers
Some mods have a lower efficiency factor than other mods. what is meant by that is that some chipsets use more power than others to operate the mod. Mods use a certain amount of power just to light up the screen, and to provide other functions. the more power the mod uses to power the chipset the shorter the battery life. That may be the reason, or it may not be the reason. I hope my explanation is not too confusing. -
You didn't mention what mod you are using, If you are using a mech mod no it is not safe. Some regulated mods will fire a coil that low and some won't. If your mod will fire that low it probably is safe.

The only thing that I put in my DIY juice that may contain chemicals is the flavoring, Most flavor makers list the ingredients of their flavors. I use Flavor West mostly, and they have MSDS sheets on their products, also certificates of analysis which lists what is in the flavor.
-
There probably is more nasty chemicals in the air of a large city than there are in a e-cig. I even had one person try to tell me the LED light on the end of a cigalike causes cancer, there's a lot of misinformation on vaping being taken as fact.

Whatever works for you. I read a couple of posts on another site that said they were using cotton from a Kotex as wicking material. Also some have used cotton from pill bottles. Lately I have been using cellucotton (rayon) from sally's beauty supply. As long as the cotton is sterile, and contains no chemicals I don't see a reason not to try it. -
Help with Kangertech Subox Mini TC mode?
FXRich replied to Sarah_1988's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Adversarious has a good point about the pin on the top tank mini, The pin is not spring loaded, whenever I change coils I push up on the pin in the base so the coil makes good contact when screwed in (I use one of my little blue screwdrivers). I also clean the pin with a Q-tip to remove any juice on it. The spring in the 75w Kbox 510 pin isn't very strong and tends to stick. Coils vary in length slightly, and it doesn't take much to make a bad connection. In the old days the coil pin directly contacted the 510 pin, now many tanks have another pin between them, the more contacts there are the better the chance of a bad connection. -
Help with Kangertech Subox Mini TC mode?
FXRich replied to Sarah_1988's topic in General Vaping Discussion
The battery is not making good contact. Try removing the battery, clean both ends of the battery, and clean the contacts in the mod. this has happened to me a couple of times, and its a easy fix. Also if you have dropped your mod the end of the battery may have been damaged, I have seen this happen too. -
Help with Kangertech Subox Mini TC mode?
FXRich replied to Sarah_1988's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I currently use 5 Kanger TC mods, and while in TC the watts can't be set. I don't use Ni with my mods I use SS316 coils so what I tell you might not apply to you. What is happening is the battery is low, it has enough power to fire a low temp, but not enough power left in the battery to run a higher temp. Charge the battery and try again. -
Batteries will charge faster with a external charger. When charging using a usb cable and a computer a lot depends on the type of usb port you have, a usb 2.0 port will charge at 100 ma, a usb 3.0 port will charge at 900 ma. So a 3.0 port will charge batteries faster, but may cause the battery to get hot. Both a 3.0 and a 2.0 port look the same, and will accept the same plug. Don't know about your cell phone charger, but mine charges at 550 ma, which is between the two. If your computer has usb 2.0 ports your cell phone charger will charge the batteries faster, if it has 3.0 ports the phone charger will take longer.
-
It is recommended by the manufacturer to charge the RX200 batteries with a external charger, I don't have a heat problem unless I use the usb 3.0 port instead of one of the 2.0 ports. I also sometimes use my cell phone charger to charge them, my cell phone has a 850 mah battery so the 3000 mah batteries charge slower, and don't even get warm. I also remove the battery cover on the mod while charging just to make sure they don't get hot, but with the 160w dripbox I can't remove the cover while charging, and it doesn't get hot. All the mods I have came with a usb cord, and they all look the same to me.

I use anise in a few things, mostly in my version of red licorice. 10% strawberry 7% anise, and 3% French vanilla. Its pretty good stuff. I'm going to have to get some apple flavor, I like caramel apples, and already have caramel so I'm halfway there.
-
I don't have any clove, but suspect it would be a strong flavor, 2% might be enough for most juices. I use anise sometimes and its a strong flavor too. I also don't have any apple flavors, been thinking about getting one, maybe next order.

You can try this one http://www.kritikalmass.net/proddetail.asp?prod=Spiced-Apple-Cider

I don't know where you live, but altitude change can make a tank leak. I live about 15 mi from town, and there's about a 500 ft. difference in altitude, and if I don't take a hit every mile or so the tank will start to leak. There are too many good tanks to mention, some prefer the baby beast, some prefer the subtank mini, both have good air flow. Lately when at home I use a squonk box (Kanger 160w dripbox). Personally I use TC most of the time, it lets me control the vape temp better than just trying to pick the right coil, and watts to get the vape temp I want.
-
We only make the trip to town once or twice a week (15 mi one way), and avoid driving at night mostly because of the increased critters on the road. We have noticed a increase in idiot drivers lately we don't know why they seem to be stupider, but Tams explanation makes sense. I was reading the paper a few days ago, and found a article that said increased technology is making the roads more dangerous because of distracted driving. It is against the law to use a cell phone while driving here, but people ignore the law and do it anyway. Before they passed the law we didn't use our phones while driving so the law didn't make any difference to us.

The Feds will probably only go after the large operations. About 5 miles from me there is a fenced off 10 acre plot with about 8 - 10 large greenhouses on it. The farm it is a part of is about 160 acres, in my opinion the Feds will probably seize the entire 160 acres not just the 10 acres. BTW the Congressman for this district is a Rep, and has a house not far from the weed plantation. When the law passed in Oregon the State let the individual counties opt out if they wanted to, a lot of the counties east of the Cascades opted out. The county I live in didn't opt out, but made growing in rural areas illegal, which makes the plantation I mentioned illegal under State law.

I have a 160w dripbox, and use a Aspire RDA on it. Currently I'm using a 2 coil SS316 setup that tests out at .47 ohms, was using a .32 setup, and that seemed to work better. I think I'll go back to the .32 setup. The big disadvantage to the RDA that comes with the dripbox is that it lacks a well to hold juice, so you have to squeeze the bottle more often to keep the wick wet. I'll keep trying different coil setups until I settle on one that works best for me. That's probably what you will end up doing, try different coil setups until you find what's best for you. You didn't mention which Dripbox you use, with the 160w using SS coils I can control the vape temp, with the 60w you can't control the vape temp.
