  1. I finally had time to sit down and go through all of this stuf. Not all of this was bought. In fact, most of it was free samples from the vendors at ECC. I already posted about the Coil Master coil kit I picked up in a different thread so that isn't shown, but here are the liquids (and some flavorings) I acquired at ECC last weekend.
  2. This can be a lot more complicated than what I'm about to explain, but in this particular case with a dual coil build, whether it's kanthal, Ni200 or Ti1, you are giving the electricity two paths to travel through, thus cutting the resistance in half. If you were to make a single coil that contained the same number of wraps of both coils combined (for instance a single 22 wrap coil vs. 2x 11 wrap coils) you would be doubling the distance the electricity needs to travel along a single path and you would see the ohms double. Analogy of the day: 100 cars traveling on a single lane highway would create create more traffic than those same 100 cars traveling down a two lane highway. More lanes = less resistance. I'm a nerd and would be happy to explain further if you'd like me to, but I hope this explanation helps.
  3. From what I saw at ECC last weekend, I would gather most vapers are in agreement with the reactions posted here so far (myself included). This company had a booth set up. I passed their booth multiple times throughout the day and each time I passed by, there were literally no consumers or shop owners there, only the company reps.
  4. Cany, the Triton is a top fill only. Oddly, I haven't had a single issue with mine and I'm on my 5th or 6th tank full of liquid right now. I'm also using the .4 ohm coil rather than the 1.8, so I wonder if that might have anything to do with the problems Tam has experienced.
  5. The shop where I bought my iPV4 threw in a pack because I also bought an RDA and some batteries at the same time. The specific wire I use is Ti-Wire by Sweet Spot Vapors. I'll warn you though - it isn't cheap. It normally sells in the B&M's for around $10-$15 for a 10 foot strand (and a couple of pieces of Japanese cotton). A little more than what I have seen B&M's charge per foot for kanthal, but kanthal is a lot easier to find online for a lot less money. I did see a new company at ECC last weekend - Spider Silk by Envy Electronic Cigarettes. I passed it by because at that specific time I didn't feel like fighting the crowd around their booth but it is another option that may be worth checking out if interested. Both companies claim their wire can be used in TC and non-TC devices, regulated and unregulated. I'll take a pic of it later tonight, but I just put a Ti build in my LEMO last week. I need to rewick it anyway because I screwed up the wick. I think it was 6 wraps (maybe 7) of .5mm Ti1 on a 3mm screwdriver and comes in right around 0.2 ohms.
  6. Ti does require fewer wraps. I use 24g Ti 1. A .15 ohm coil on a 3mm screwdriver with Ti is only 5 wraps.
  7. I had quite the haul from ECC as well. Mostly juices and apparel. No hardware. I'll try to remember to post a pic later.
  8. Normally I just use either a 2.5mm or a 3mm screwdriver, depending on what I'm building on, but Space Jam E-Liquid teamed up with Coil Master for ECC and I picked up a kit this past weekend for $30. I don't know if this was an ECC exclusive or if they will be available elsewhere, but it's a nice little kit.
  9. I'm going to have to check this out. I just picked up a 5 pack of the Atlantis V2 coils because I knew they would work in both my Herakles and my Silo Beast. If the Herakles coils will also work in my Silo Beast, I'll be a happy camper since they are cheaper than the Atlantis coils.
  10. Kinda sorta. I'm actually one of those who posted on their Facebook page about starting to vape in order to quit smoking. Only time will tell if their little social experiment will actually do any good.
  11. I like that idea. Perhaps just "1 to 10"...or a "Spinal Tap" version that will go all the way to 11. You didn't leave that impression. I'm a nerd too. The may be "TMI", but instead of magazines, I keep things like computer programming manuals in the bathroom for "reading material"...lol. I was mostly concerned that others would assume Joules were the same as watts and treat them interchangeably. (In fact, it isn't very difficult at all to find numerous reviews on Youtube where the reviewer is treating Joules exactly that way.) That may very well be the intent of YiHi, but if that is their intent, it is very misleading. A very simple way to begin to understand Joules is to use the analogy of a water hose. You are going to get more water to flow per second and with less effort by using a 3 inch hose vs a 1 inch hose. The same principle applies to Joules - higher settings will allow you to achieve the desired temperature more efficiently.
  12. I haven't tried all of the Charlie Noble line, but of those I have tried I have liked them all. Best part, my local B&M sells them 2 for $25.
  13. Ask and ye shall receive... http://www.rsph.org.uk/filemanager/root/site_assets/our_work/position_statements/rsph_smoking_positional_final.pdf That's a link to the full 5 page report in PDF format. I haven't read it yet. I'll try to get to it today.
  14. And then go get a backup for your backup.
  15. This is my second attempt at posting this. I don't know what happened to the first one. I hit "submit reply" and it disappeared into Never-never land. If it suddenly appears, then I apologize for what is essentially a double post. Not to muddy the waters even more, but joules are not necessarily equal to watts. They are related, but they are two different things. Assuming joules = watts would be close to assuming crude oil = gasoline. A joule is a unit of energy while a watt is a unit of power. The number of watts can be calculated from joules (and vice versa) but in order to do so, you also need to factor in time. In order to calculate the number of watts (power) from joules (energy), you would divide the joules by time (seconds), or P = E/T. In the case of 50J = 50W, that would be correct if the time is only 1 second. If the time were, say, 5 seconds, then a total of 10 watts of power would be produced. It is a lot more complicated than that. Honestly I am baffled at why the chip manufacturers and firmware programmers decided to factor in joules on TC devices. TC could still be achieved by allowing the user to select a watt limit in TC mode (while having a maximum built in watt limit). In the coming weeks I will dig out some of my old text books and see if I can put together a tutorial that will make sense. Most of the tutorials I have seen would tend to leave the average person with little to no knowledge even more confused than before they started. Of course, a lot of that confusion could have been avoided if the chip makers had only consulted me before they decided to throw joules into the mix.
  16. There are even some places with a Starbucks literally across the street from another Starbucks. Or multiple Starbucks locations in the same shopping center. Case in point - my local Target has a full service Starbucks located inside. Anything and everything you get at a B&M Starbucks can be purchased at the one inside Target. Less than 150 yards from the Target with the full service Starbucks is a B&M Starbucks. They were built at the same time. Go figure. The image below is apparently from Vancouver, BC.
  17. I'm in the same boat as rainbowtears. Still fairly new and I don't want to over-step what some may perceive to be a limited amount of knowledge based on the limited amount of time vaping. I posted a lot more frequently when I first joined and was still buying new gadgets and juices every other week. I still chime in when I feel I have something to contribute, when I have an opinion or when I have a question, though. I could probably be more active (I do tend to stay logged in all the time, even if just through the Tapatalk app) but a lot of the time others are simply quicker on the draw than I am and I see no point in repeating exactly what someone else has already said. Never fear, though...y'all are stuck with me for at least 228 more posts after this one. Gotta earn my way into that VIP Room
  18. Cany, do you still have some of that popcorn? Also, is it "muffin" flavored?
  19. Is it a pepper taste similar to nicotine gum? If so, then I have a better idea of how the nicotine will ultimately affect the flavor of the liquid. Nope. My recipe is: 6% Natural Lemonade (FW)4% Bourbon (FW)FW = Flavor West - They are both local to me, as in the company is only a few miles from me, and one of my local B&M's recently started carrying their entire line (re-bottled as their own brand, but the shop owner was very up front with me in telling me the flavors are actually Flavor West). They also carry the full Capella line of flavorings and are considering bringing in TFA flavorings. Perhaps even in small amounts it is more noticeable in very sweet flavors to your tastebuds. It may or may not be fact for every sweet liquid or every other person, though. I'm not 100% my taste buds have completely returned to what could be considered normal. They have definitely improved, but there are a few things I still have a difficult time distinguishing, the subtle (or not so subtle) differences in liquids with and without nicotine being one of them. When I go to one of my local B&M's to sample eliquids, the samples are 0 nic. If I decide to buy a particular flavor, I will either get 3mg or 6mg, depending on whether or not I'm going to be using it in a tank or if I'm going to be dripping. But I have not been able to distinguish the difference in flavors with and without nicotine yet. That doesn't necessarily mean I will never be able to, it simply means I can't distinguish it yet. That's why I'm interested in finding out how much it can affect the flavor.
  20. This whole thread is making me hungry. Looks like I'm going to have to ask the other half for permission to go buy a new smoker (the old one, the charcoal version of Cany's, died after 15 years of solid service). With football season right around the corner, my main smoking season is upon me. I sense a bacon fatty, some ribs and a brisket in my near future.
  21. Thanks FXRich. I actually have ejuicemeup installed on my laptop and plan on using it for upcoming batches. For this first batch, I went with the tried and true method of a pad of paper, a pencil and an Excel spreadsheet with a couple of basic functions in lieu of a calculator. Now I just need to decipher my notes
  22. Okay, So I just finished up my first batch of DIY. Started out at 20/80 PG/VG, but that became slightly altered as I added a few more drops to tailor the liquid to what I was going for, so it's probably closer to 25/75 now (I haven't put the numbers into my spreadsheet to recalculate yet). Not a big deal, as I know how much flavoring I need to achieve the taste I was going for and will be able to adjust the VG in future batches. Now on to my questions to the experienced DIYers. Since this initial venture into DIY was purely to check my interest in DIY, my first was 0 nic (and my first few batches will be likely be 0 nic as well). What I need to know, though, is how much does the addition of nicotine actually affect the flavor? I know it can affect the flavor slightly, but is it enough that I will need to alter the amount of flavoring by a few drops either way, or is it something that depends on the flavorings used in the liquid? Or is it something I really shouldn't worry too much about? It isn't something I intend to do for others, only for myself. I guess as long as I'm happy with it, that's what matters, right? By the way, my first batch is a "Lynchburgh Lemonade" type of flavor and I'm really happy with how the flavor has turned out. If anybody might be interested in this type of flavor (basically lemonade and bourbon), feel free to let me know and I'll share my flavor percentages after I recalculate everything.
  23. The Muffin Man? Yes! I know The Muffin Man. He lives on Drury Lane.
