  1. Traffic shouldn't be too bad early in the morning. It's about 150 miles from San Diego, so a little over two hours I would guess. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.
  2. Santa Anita racetrack, in the infield. Due to recent California laws it can't be held indoors, but temps in early December in SoCal are typically in the upper 60's and precipitation is negligible. Usually any rain is limited to a light early morning drizzle at most. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.
  3. The ECC Expo is returning to Southern California from December 2-4. Any chance Vapor Talk will be represented there?
  4. Thanks @Christopher, I'll keep my eyes open. Late next week will be awesome, as it coincides with payday
  5. Eleaf ipower 80w. Already googled. 5000mAh. Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
  6. Methinks somebody may have dropped a zero. I could have sworn it was rated at 5000mAh. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.
  7. I got the idea for this from a drink I came up with. I also call the drink a Kentucky Kooler. While the drink is a little bit different, the liquid is basically a Lynchburg Lemonade flavored vape, but I didn't want to steal the name from Jack Daniels.. 12% Lemonade (FW) 8% Bourbon (FW) Mix thoroughly and let steep for a few days. My preferred ratio for this particular flavor is 30/70 PG/VG. For those interested, the drink I make by the same name is a Monster Rehab Tea + Lemonade flavor with a shot of bourbon. Alternatively you can simply make an Arnold Palmer (Tea and Lemonade) and add a shot of bourbon over ice. Good stuff and goes great with the liquid.
  8. It has been a long time since I wrote a review on an e-liquid. This is largely in part because I was absent from the forum for so long, but it’s also because I have started to mix a lot of my own. This review is on Eden’s Empire, from Vapor Talk’s Black Label line. I will say ahead of time that this was sort of a bonus from Vapor Talk courtesy of @Christopher, but the fact I’m writing a review has nothing to do with that. I’m writing the review because I want to. I don’t write reviews on every e-liquid I have vaped because a lot of the store bought liquids I vape are house blends and aren’t available online. This one is available and it deserves a review. As always, these are my opinions only. Each person has their own preferences and their own tastes. What I like and what works for me won’t necessarily be liked or work for the next guy or gal. That being said, I’m not telling you to run right out and buy a bottle for yourself, I am merely giving you a review in order to help you make the decision for yourself on whether or not you would like to try it. As I mentioned, I have started mixing a lot of my own. Probably 90% if what I vape is mixed by me. I really don’t pay attention to new lines or flavors that have been released. In fact, I really don’t even look at liquids when I peruse vape supply websites. I don’t need to. But when the opportunity to get my hands on a bottle of Eden’s Empire arose, I jumped at the chance. I’m glad I did, because Vapor Talk has done a fine job with this one. The details – Eden’s Empire is a blend of wild strawberries and whipped cream. It is available in zero, 3mg, 6mg and 12mg nicotine and comes in 30ml glass bottles with droppers and child safety caps. It is a 65VG/35PG blend and for me, that particular PG/VG blend in combination with the flavor is one that I decided I would place into my “flavor zone”. In other words, I wanted the flavor to be the start of the show and I was less concerned with blowing big clouds with this particular liquid. The testing – I have a very specific method I use if I’m going to be reviewing a liquid. I take my reviews seriously because I know very well that someone may decide to purchase a liquid I have reviewed based purely on what I have written. Reading a review obviously isn’t the same as sitting in your local vape shop and sampling a liquid to see if you like it. As a result I keep my testing methods the same no matter the liquid in order to paint a picture and inform the reader of exactly what was going on from a technical standpoint while I was conducting my testing/review. In order to have consistency between all of my liquid testing, I use similar setups with each liquid. I always use a mech mod with a freshly charged Samsung 25R and I always use an RDA. Though the specific mech and/or RDA may change from liquid to liquid, I always clean the RDA and build fresh coils that measure out to approximately .5 ohms. For this liquid, I used my Arthas mech mod and a Twisted Messes V1 RDA. The coils were basic kanthal A1, 8 wraps around a 2.5mm jig. This clocked in at .49 ohms on my ohm meter. They were wicked with Cotton Bacon. The Experience – I’m usually very picky about my “dessert vapes”. I have a few that I like, and I generally like to have an adult beverage with them. I am usually hesitant to try anything with cream in it, be it sweet cream, Bavarian cream or, as with this one, whipped cream. I have only come across a couple liquids with cream flavors that I actually enjoy. They usually aren’t my thing. I’m more of a rich, decadent, chocolate brownie type of dessert vape guy. This one can be added to the very short list of liquids with cream flavors I actually enjoy. This vape was extremely pleasing to my palate. As I took my first draw, I immediately had the taste of strawberries dancing across my tongue. As I inhaled and the vapor moved across the back my tongue, the whipped cream seemed to take over, but not in an overbearing way. The exhale simply reversed the order of the flavors I tasted; whipped cream at the back of the tongue, strawberries at the front as the vapor escaped my mouth. Interestingly, the whipped cream was the prominent flavor I noticed with the aftertaste. The aftertaste also left me wanting more. Another drag, another exhale. I waited a moment after the second drag so I could really analyze the aftertaste. While the exhale did indeed present the flavors in reverse order of the inhale, for me the whipped cream is the dominant flavor left on my tongue after the exhale is complete. It’s almost, but not quite, reminiscent of strawberry shortcake or a Belgian waffle with strawberries and whipped cream. The strawberries are definitely there. The whipped cream is definitely there. But I did detect a little something more. Maybe it was all in my mind. Maybe I was trying tricking myself into thinking it tasted like strawberry shortcake. Maybe I need to make a run to the grocery store to pick up some strawberries, whipped cream and some shortcake. I’m making myself hungry. Now, seeing as how I like to pair my vapes with adult beverages, I was stumped. I’m generally a bourbon kind of guy. Bourbon probably isn’t the best alcohol to pair with strawberries and cream (or at least the cream). Fortunately I have a wife who works for BevMo (a large liquor store chain in the western United States) and I have a lot of options around the house. Digging into the liquor cabinet and the Bevridgerator in my mancave, I was able to come up with a concoction that really enhanced both the strawberries and the whipped cream. I made a strawberry vodka margarita with whipped cream infused vodka. This pairing worked wonderfully together and it was definitely a refreshing combination in the blistering Southern California heat we are currently experiencing. If there was one drawback for me to this liquid, it was the PG/VG ratio. Most of my liquid ratios are in even “10’s” amounts (i.e. 50/50, 40/60, 30/70, etc.). It’s a personal preference. The ratio usually plays a factor in what tank I’m going to use or how low I’m going to build my coils if I’m dripping. My normal cutoff for going with a higher or lower ohm coil setup is at 40/60 PG/VG. The 35/65 ratio had me questioning which direction I wanted to go. I think I would have preferred a 40/60 or even a 50/50 PG/VG ratio just to kick the flavor up a small notch, but the 35/65 ratio works with this liquid. As it turns out, I can go either direction successfully. My score – 9 (out of 10). While I wouldn’t elevate this to “All Day Vape” level, this easily rises to the “go to” level if I’m relaxing in the mancave after dinner. All in all this was a very good vape experience that didn’t assault my taste buds. Neither flavor canceled out the other. They are nicely balanced and complement each other very well. I would recommend this to anybody who likes strawberries and whipped cream or strawberry shortcake. Nice cloud production can be achieved if clouds are what you are into, but for me this was all about the flavor, not the clouds.
  9. Thanks @Tamand @Bebop. My goal is always to cover as many aspects of a product or liquid as I can. It seems none of the people on Youtube cover everything and even write-ups are usually just a regurgitation of the information provided by a company. If I ever don't answer a question about a product or liquid, feel free to ask it and I'll provide an answer. I have another product I'll be doing a write-up on, but I'm still playing with a couple of the features. I also have an e-liquid review I'll be posting in a little while, just as soon as I have it written and edited.
  10. Welcome to Vapor Talk Gunny. A lot of us around here will be happy to help with recommendations. I have a few questions, though, so we can point you in the right direction. First, what type of setup do you have now? Are you looking for a mech mod or a regulated mod? Are you looking for an RDA or a tank with a rebuildable base? Are you interested in temp control or do you want something that is more along the lines of "set it and forget it"? Last, and most important, are you trying to stay within a budget? I know that's a lot of questions, but the answers will help us keep the recommendations narrowed down to things that will possibly work for you rather than making recommendations that are all over the spectrum. And Semper Fi, Marine!
  11. It's possible because the peeps at V/T are awesome. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.
  12. Here is a link to information on a study conducted by the Roswell Park Cancer Institute. While I don't chalk this up to a win, (some others may), it is definitely encouraging. First, the study was actually conducted 5 years ago, so it isn't like someone had a knee-jerk reaction and threw together a quick study as a result of the FDA's regulations. For those who don't know, the whole mission of RCPI is to find ways to prevent and cure cancer.
  13. I know there is another thread about this tank, but I thought I'd do an actual review of this tank. Even online reviews have seemed to cover just the basics and not compare any of the different coils in the same review. So without further ado, I present my review of the SMOK TFV8. I’ve been using the TFV8 for about a week now. I had enough loyalty points built up with one of my local B&Ms that I couldn’t pass it up, so I bought a black one. After loyalty points were applied it cost me a whopping $15 after tax. For those who may have been living under a rock for the past couple of months, the TFV8 is a sub ohm tank from SMOKTech. It features a 6ml capacity, huge airflow, multiple coil options including an RBA coil head and a wide bore delrin drip tip (a delrin 510 adapter is included in the box for those who don’t like wide bore tips). Almost immediately I knew I was going to want at least one, possibly two, more of these tanks. Based on the way I vape, sub-ohm tanks are what works best for me and this tank definitely works. It produces both clouds and flavor. For me it’s a nice balance of each. I’m not looking to chuck huge clouds and I’m not looking to be overwhelmed with whatever fruit or dessert flavor I happen to be vaping at the time. So since I already knew I liked the tank and wanted at least one more, I ordered a second one. There are a few things that really set this tank apart from some of the others I own and use. The first, and probably the most prominent, is everything that’s included with this tank. Most tanks I own came with the tank and an extra coil or two and, of course, a little blue screwdriver or hex wrench. Occasionally I would find some extra O-rings or, in the case of RTA’s, some wire and some cotton, but for the most part it was just an extra coil or two. This tank includes a ton of extras. O-rings, spare Pyrex tank glass, cotton, extra coil heads, vape bands, cotton, hex wrench and a delrin 510 drip tip adapter. The first thing that actually caught my eye, though, was the size of the coil heads. Saying they are huge would be an understatement. These things are Ginormous. Seriously. They are big. They are also offered in a fairly wide variety, although all of their coil heads are of the sub-ohm variety. The coil heads included with the tank are the V8-T8 Octuple coil head (.15 ohm), the V8-Q4 Quadruple coil head (also .15 ohm) and the rebuildable base pre-installed with dual fused claptons (claimed .28 ohms). Each of the included coil heads (as well as most of their other coil head offerings) is unique. Different airflow design, different wicking slots…things that set them apart from each other and make them different experiences in spite of the same ohm rating. Of course, as I already mentioned, there’s the size. I took pics of the included coil heads and the RBA head side-by-side along with a couple of other coil heads for size comparison. The coil heads on the top from left to right are a KangerTech OCC head and an Aspire Atlantis coil head. The heads below from left to right are the V8-T8, the V8-Q4 and the RBA head. The second pic is a view of the insides of the coil heads. While I haven’t used the RBA heads from either tank yet, I did check them on my ohm meter for a couple of reasons. The first was that the claptons in the first tank looked a little sloppy to me. Almost as if someone was watching the clock before their shift ended and this was the last set they had to do before they could clock out and go home. As I suspected, it came in at .44 ohms, quite a bit higher than their claimed .28 ohms. On the other hand, the coils in the RBA from the second tank look much cleaner and they clocked in right on the money at .28 ohms. On the tank itself, the airflow is huge. It isn’t most airflow I have experienced, but it is more than adequate. Two slots on each side that can be adjusted with a sliding ring on the base. While the adjusting ring doesn’t lock into place, the friction on it is sufficient enough to keep the airflow set where you want it. I haven’t had any issues with my airflow adjusting itself, and I am frequently shoving my setup in a pocket, taking it out, repeat, throughout the day. As with the TFV4, it’s a top fill tank with a hinged top that “swings” out of the way. A convenient feature because you can literally refill while on the move without having to worry about juggling a tank top or drip tip while you fill. The fill slot is more than sufficient even for bottle drippers. That being said, don’t forget to close off your airflow if you happen to be outside on a hot day when you fill your tank. I did have one issue with leakage after a refill, but that was 100% operator error and I have had zero issues since. The vaping experience is absolutely awesome. SMOK calls it the Cloud Beast, and it is. I typically take one to two second drags and that is more than enough with this tank to fog up the inside of my car or my mancave. I have been vaping on the black tank with the V8-T8 that comes installed on the tank for a week. Again, that is a .15 ohm coil head. SMOK claims the coil is rated at 50-260 watts but recommends 120-180 watts for the best vaping experience. I have been vaping it at 120 watts. The juices I have been using have been a 30PG/70VG blend. I suspect for my personal tastes I will likely find myself going a little higher in the wattage for thicker juices and a little lower with thinner juices. I installed the .15 ohm V8-Q4 coil head on my second tank. I have been vaping it only for a few hours now, but so far my experience with it has been as enjoyable as with the V8-T8 coil head. It has been a slightly different experience, though. First, SMOK claims the V8-Q4 is rated from 50-180 watts with 90-150 watts for the best vaping experience. Next, the airflow is a slightly more restrictive than the airflow with the T8 coil head. It’s a subtle difference but it is noticeable. Finally, the particular juice I started with in this tank was also a tad thinner than the juices in my other TFV8. The juice I have been vaping with the Q4 coil is a 35PG/65VG blend. I bounced around between 80 and 105 watts with the Q4 coil head. 95 watts seems to be the optimum spot for me with the particular juice and that coil head. Now for the negatives, and they aren’t really negatives, only opinions. The first – it can get warm if you are chain vaping. The only time I really chain vape is when I’m driving. A 2+ hour commute in rush hour traffic can contribute to that. And since drinking and driving is not only stupid, but against the law, chain vaping helps me cope with the idiots on the road. The other negative is that it is only 6ml. Wait, what? ONLY 6ml? This puppy is a juice hog. I can easily go through two fills per day and be well into a third with this tank. All in all, this is an excellent tank if you like sub-ohm tanks and you are a DTL vaper like me. The airflow when using the T8 coil head and the included wide bore delrin drip tip rivals that of most RDAs I have used. There are a couple of other coil head options besides the coil heads that come with the tank, including a different RBA head, but all of the coil heads are rated at .15 or .2 ohms. The main differences between the heads are the airflow and the wicking channels. If you are a MTL vaper or you don’t like warm vapes, this tank may not be for you, although I suppose you could swap out the pre-installed claptons for you own coils and run something with a higher ohm rating. But if you don’t like warm vapes or sub ohms and you choose to buy this tank anyway, you have been warned. Last, even at MSRP, which is something like $59.99, I think this is a great tank. I didn’t pay MSRP for either tank and you don’t need to either. I have seen them online anywhere from $29 to $37. Depending on where you get it from and the cost of shipping, you may actually save money by going with one from a slightly higher priced vendor, so shop around.
  14. From left to right... Stainless Steel TFV8 courtesy of Element Vape 30ml bottle of V/T Black Label Eden's Empire from V/T Sigelei Fuchai 213 (the orange one) also from V/T. Special thanks to Chris for jumping through hoops to get that 213 in orange in stock so quickly and for the bottle of E.E. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.
  15. I've spent my afternoon scouring around looking for other stories as well. I'm taking notes and will post more links tomorrow. For now...I have vape mail that I need to pay attention to [emoji4] Sent from my VS986 using Tapatalk
  16. I can't take the credit for finding it. I saw it shares with one of the advocacy groups I follow on Facebook. Still wanted to share it here, though. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.
  17. It's also not in the VT store because I haven't officially asked for it in what I am now thinking of as the "wish list" thread.
  18. The Winston-Salem Journal ran this story this morning about a Federal Judge ruling that making label changes does not make a new product and therefore does not require a review by the FDA. In short, the case was filed by Big T because the FDA was trying to assert it's authority over label changes even when nothing about the actual tobacco product was changing. The judge found in favor of the tobacco companies, however in the same ruling the same judge found that changing the volume DOES trigger the review process. So while this ruling was primarily about Big Tobacco, the ruling now extends to products now defined by the FDA as tobacco products (i.e. e-liquid). I can see it as a small victory in that a liquid manufacturer can change the label at will, however if they have a certain formula for a certain juice that they offer in 15ml and 30ml and they suddenly start offering a 120ml, that will likely have the FDA breathing down their backs.
  19. I have quickly found that I can easily go through almost 6ml during my commute from work to home, which frequently lasts 2 to 2.5 hours, depending on what time I get out of work and the day of the week. But at home, I don't mind having to refill if I need to. I bounce between my regulated mods, mech mods, tanks and drippers so frequently that refilling isn't a big deal.
  20. Ever since I graduated beyond my initial starter kit I have used different tanks for different purposes. Some I use as "daily drivers", others I only use at home. So for me, the 3ml capacity isn't going to be an issue because they will more than likely be used for those occasions when I'm relaxing in the mancave while watching football and drinking beer or some other concoction infused with copious amounts of alcohol. I've also read and seen a couple of reviews that are saying the flavor production of the smaller tank is superior to the larger one. I like clouds, but I'm not a cloud chaser. I like flavor, but I'm not a flavor chaser. I'm simply a vaper who enjoys a wide variety of options. For ordering from the VT store (or anywhere, for that matter) I use a computer. As far as the similarities between the VT app and Tapatalk, @Christopher confirmed the VT app was built using the Tapatalk foundation. I still like the look of and feel of the VT app in comparison to Tapatalk, though. Tapatalk is convenient in that it allows me to keep multiple forums at my fingertips, but there are a handful of things about the Tapatalk app that have changed since I initially started using it that I don't like.
  21. I should have vape mail with a second TFV8 waiting for me when I get home. Since it comes installed with the .15 ohm octuple coil, I plan on swapping it out with the included .15 ohm quadruple coil head to run a side-by-side comparison. Of course, wouldn't you know it, SMOK just released the TFV8 in a new color - Gun Color (Gunmetal Grey). I was already planning on suggesting getting the TFV8 Baby Beast in the V/T store to @Christopher, but I might as well suggest the new color as well. No rush on any of them, but at minimum I'll likely be purchasing at least two of the smaller Baby Beasts in the not too distant future.
  22. We all had to start somewhere. I was fortunate enough to stumble across these forums not long after I started vaping. I learned a lot, picked up on some things quicker than others and have enjoyed my time here. Paying it forward by passing on my own experiences, knowledge and opinions is my way of repaying those who taught me.
  23. And that is "manufacturing" according to the FDA's new definition of the word. The last time I checked, changing spark plugs or oil in a car with an identical set of spark plugs or an identical blend of oil was considered maintenance. The same should hold true for retailers. If a person is physically or mentally incapable of changing out the 1.5 ohm coil in their Subtank Mini with a coil that is identical in every way and was physically manufactured by a different company, (i.e. another 1.5 ohm coil from Kangertech), or that person is physically or mentally incapable of opening their tank to fill it with their favorite liquid (from a bottle they already own), then that should be considered maintenance, not manufacturing. Some of these FDA regs make sense on the surface (excluding the extremely high fees associated with the PMTA process), but some of these regs are, in my opinion, a gross misuse of power. Just because someone says you are permitted to do something doesn't mean you should. And just because you do something doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. Just because the FDA says changing a coil or filling a tank for a customer is "manufacturing" does not make it "manufacturing". Just my 2 cents. I'll get off my soapbox now. It's just that these ridiculous regs, along with all the misleading information, partial information or, (in some cases) full on lies, have me rather ticked off.
  24. Agree with everything FXRich said, but wanted to add my own 2 cents... It sounds like you only have 2 batteries. I would suggest buying at least 4 more. You never know when you're really going to need those back-ups. When you buy them, make sure you mark them. Personally I would dedicate 2 batteries to each of the mods you have in rotation (mark them 1A/1B, 2A/2B or Eleaf 60wA/Eleaf 60wB and PicoA/PicoB or in some manner that works for you).
  25. It really is awesome. I have forever been in love with my Arctic v1 and the .2 ohm coils. That has probably been the one constant in my vaping for almost a year and a half. This tank totally blows the Arctic away...so much so that I have already ordered a second and I'm seriously considering ordering two of the TFV8 Baby tanks as well; one each in SS and black. Might as well have the whole family. Also, the included RBA deck comes pre-installed with dual claptons. I only took a quick glance the coils, but if memory serves me correctly, they are not wicked; they do include cotton in the box, but most of us who would be interested in the RBA deck probably have piles of cotton anyway. A couple words of warning: This tank is definitely a juice hog. I picked my current one up last Friday at one of my local B&M's because, like @smacksyI had loyalty points to spend and I was able to get it for less than anywhere online. Since Friday I have gone through 3 full tanks and am well into my fourth. This puppy holds 6ml. My math isn't perfect, but I'm pretty sure that still comes out to close to 24ml in less than 72 hours. For some that may be minimal, but for me that is almost double what I normally vape in a week.
