Almost any Mini RDA is going to give you great taste because of the shortened height of the cap. That being said there are going to be a couple of things that come into play with the recommendations you are going to receive: 1 - "Inexpensive" is subjective. What is inexpensive to me may not be what you consider inexpensive or vice versa. 2 - "Great taste performance" is also subjective. What one person may think is great may only be so-so at best to the next person. But again, almost any mini is going to give you a good flavor with the right build. 3 - Some people may make recommendations purely based on their preferred post design - 2, 3 or 4. The number of posts may ultimately play a role in which atty you go for as well. If you are looking for a mini RDA that will give you the mechanical performance of something like the Derringer or Stro while providing great flavor, I would recommend taking a look at the following: Freakshow mini, REMatty or Royal Hunter (both the regular and the mini on the RH - the Stro is very similar to the RH full size). The Freakshow and REMatty are both 3 post, the RH and RH mini are both 4 post. All of them are under the $40 price range for authentics. If you shop around, you can probably find all of them for under $30.

I protest! No Tomfoolery and no Canoodling I can understand. No Hanky Panky...well...I'll deal with that. But Shenanigans MUST be allowed!!
-
I would recommend this one. That is basic clapton wire with a 26 gauge core with 32 gauge outer. Two dual coils: 6 wraps on a 3mm bit with 5mm legs should get you right about .5 ohms. 5 wraps with everything else the same would get you about .4 ohms =/- .1 ohm.

If bull****ery is allowed, then does than mean shenanigans and tomfoolery are allowed as well? Or is tomfoolery off limits? Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.

@cany, What is the target resistance you are shooting for, what will you be building on and will it be dual or single coil?

Am I the only one who is see markup language in quoted posts? I know there is logic in the forum software (or somewhere on the site) that picks out certain keywords in posts and automatically creates links to those items or similar items in the VT store, but anytime someone quotes a post with those links, they are showing up with the markup language. (Don't worry if you don't know what markup language is. I'm sure @Christopherwill understand exactly what I mean. Example: In the below snapshot from one of my posts you can see where the keywords have been linked. Example 2: In Cany's reply just a few minutes later, the keywords are still linked, but 'rel="external"> has been added after each of the links. Sometimes it's an entire address. For the record, I use Chrome almost exclusively on a PC or laptop, but I have tested it against IE and Firefox with the same results. Oddly, in the VT app it doesn't add the links in a post, but it does add them in a quote and the markup language doesn't appear via the VT app.

@cany, I did some calculation tests and comparisons between Steam Engine and the Vape Tool app over the weekend. You should be able to use Steam Engine for your calculations. Don't think in terms of "Clapton" coils. Just think in terms of the basic KA1 coils (or Ni80 or SS if you are using either of those as opposed to Kanthal). In a nutshell, a Clapton coil's resistance is going to be based primarily on the core wire(s). While the diameter of the outer wire will have a very slight effect on the overall resistance, it will be minimal. Where the diameter of the outer wire comes into play is the ramp up time. The thicker the wire, the longer the ramp up time because the heat transfer from the core takes longer with a heavier gauge wire than a thinner wire. EXAMPLE: If you wanted a dual Clapton coil build similar to the one @smacksyposted a pic of, then use Steam Engine to calculate the number of wraps needed for your desired resistance based on a 24 gauge core wire. Based on my own experience with Clapton coils as well as some of the tests and comparisons I did over the weekend, I would guestimate that dual Clapton of smacksy's came out somewhere between .3 and .35 ohms (depending on leg length). When I have time I'll try to put together a "Clapton Coils De-Mystified" type of post where I'll explain Clapton and fused Clapton coils more in depth. Things get a little more complicated when making fused Claptons, but not much.

Love me some Claptons, although they are a PITA to make until you get used to them. I haven't used any prebuilt Claptons because I trust myself more than I trust buying prebuilt. Case in point, those two coils were either a lot closer to .5 ohms each (most likely just over) or one coil was higher than the other, which can be bad. Just out of curiosity @Edna, did you check each coil individually on a meter before vaping them?
-
Also, which Aspire mini were you using and what was your nicotine level (presuming you are vaping something other than 0 nic eliquids)? If you were using the Aspire Nautilus Mini (I believe that was the only "mini" Aspire tank available a year ago, but I could be wrong) you were likely using coils that were 1.6 ohm or 1.8 ohm. Dropping to a .3 ohm coil is a whole different world. Aside from the fact that sub ohm vaping (vaping with a coil resistance less than 1 ohm) isn't necessarily for everybody, a higher nicotine content will definitely contribute to harshness.

Welcome to VT. How do you like that Limitless RTA? Been thinking about pulling the trigger on one simply because I like the way it looks.

And back ups for backups.

Coffee in the morning. Beer in the afternoon. College football all day. Maybe a little baseball and a short video shoot thrown in for good measure. Is it noon yet? It must be 12 o'clock somewhere. Is it too early to crack open a beer? Fight on SC! Go Dodgers!! And a good morning to @smacksyand all of the VT peeps.

New Kanger Tank- Rewickable Coils-
Adversarious1 replied to Edna's topic in Share the Latest Vaping Products
Thanks for the quick rundown @smacksy. Think I'll save my $17. I don't mind MTL every once in a while but my Lemo is a tried and proven option for me in that regard. -
How do you feel about minors vaping?
Adversarious1 replied to spydre's topic in General Vaping Discussion
This one is a sort of a conundrum. Did he start vaping because he was smoking tobacco and he wanted to quit, or did he start vaping because it "looks cool" and he wanted to blow big clouds? While I would prefer minors abstain completely and don't support it, (admittedly hypocritical since I started smoking on my 15th birthday many moons ago), I would feel a little more at ease knowing the vaping is because he is using it as a tool to quit smoking rather than a toy to impress himself and his friends. -
@Cany...I'm intoxicated at the moment (Monday Night Football), but if you want to you can PM me your desired coil result and I'll help in any way I can. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.

I use an app called Vape Tool. Don't know if it's available for iOS, as I'm an android guy, but it's pretty accurate. Lets you input the core diameter, wrap diameter, etc. Lots of other features too and it isn't limited to just Clapton coils. Sent from my heart using the Vapor Talk App. OK...OK...I'm kidding. I have no heart. But I did use the Vapor Talk Mobile App.

Ahhh...you have woken the sleeping giant. LOL In my opinion the single biggest issue with this country is the fact it's a "two party" system, in spite of having multiple parties. I'm fairly conservative both by nature and by upbringing, but I haven't and still don't always vote down party lines. Unfortunately voting for the lesser of two evils isn't really a choice. I'm a huge proponent of either automatically granting entrance into national debates for each political party's presidential nominee. (Note - I've been following Gary Johnson as of late. I don't know that I will vote for him, but I do think he deserves to be in the debates just as much as Hillary or Donald. The requirement of a "15% rating in the polls" is BS is was probably concocted in a bi-partisan measure between Democrats and Republicans in order to keep out third, fourth or fifth parties. On a completely unrelated note, this if my 500th post. I'm officially Insane now.

All of the above. Plus, I have kids and even though they are old enough to know better, (almost 16 and almost 13), I don't mix around them and I lock up my PG, VG, nic base and syringes when I'm not mixing. Flavors I will admit to not locking up, but I also don't just leave them sitting around.

Without seeing the map, my guess would be Portland. Not Googling it either. OK, I'm cheating a little bit. I have a lot of family in the PNW. Scattered all over from Portland to Seattle. And while I'm thinking of it, apologies to @Edna, didn't mean to hijack your thread. -

Nix 56, right Bebop? Proposed tax reason (according to the supporters) - to discourage smoking. Real reason - We shamelessly mismanage the budget on programs that have been proven to fail, so we are going tax people in order to refill our coffers so we can continue to shamelessly mismanage the budget. We'll do it under the pretense of advancing a "tobacco free" California and tell the people lies that the money will go to smoking cessation programs. Bold faced lies. I've read the tax initiative. The commercials in this state that are against the tax are telling the truth that the 87% of the money will go to insurance companies and into the general fund. Not as whacky as the idea of "Six Californias", which is another proposed idea. The best part of the Six Californias idea is that South California would include the 5 arguably most conservative counties in this state: San Bernardino, Riverside, Orange, San Diego and Imperial Counties. L.A. County would be lumped in with "West California". -

There is a reason he earned the nickname "Governor Moonbeam". The scary part is that even though he did some wacky stuff the first time he was governor (which was before my time), the people of this state elected him again when the state changed the term limit law a few years ago which created a loophole that allowed him to run again. Then they RE-elected him. 6 years, 5 months, 2 weeks to go until I retire (not that I'm counting) and I can get the heck out of Dodge (this wacky state). Texas...here I come. The wife may or may not join me. That's entirely up to her. -
That's odd, because Adversarious1 did not start a topic titled "Marines". I was using the VT app last night while replying to other posts and was talking about Marines, so there may have been a hiccup there. But no topic started by me.

I have news for both of you...Governor Moonbeam (Jerry Brown) already signed the bill that makes it law: http://www.foxnews.com/science/2016/09/20/cow-farts-can-now-be-regulated-in-california.html -

I grew up literally 2 miles from the east gate to Camp Pendleton. I'll actually be in that area all weekend, as a matter of fact. -
