ValerieeRJackson reacted to Sonar505 in Finally decided to organize My DIY Flavor Bottles
Recently thanks to generous recipe posters I discovered how easy FlavourArt flavors are to work with. So placed an order for 33 FA flavor samples from eliquid mart then after trying them and finding more recipes I wanted to try. Placed and received a 2nd order of 35 bottles. For me It became a pain in the *** to try and find the individual flavor. Pick up read no!,Pick up read No!, etc, or worse take all out the box and play dominoes with them while on the table. I decided there had to be a better way and set out to make one. I don't know if you are anything like me but this is what my DIY shelf looked like before. And this is what it looks like now! I made It to accommodate the FA flavors I have now and allow for future growth. I was also able to put them in Alphabetical order and read the flavor name for easy location. (Added benefit Lorann's 1 dram bottles also fit) Over the past few years I had also accumulated quite a few wizard lab samples (which are even better at mimicking dominoes). And since I plan to continue to use them either individually or in combination with FA. I decided to make one for them. Here is how it looks like now when I mix a eliquid recipe. I have the wide mouth jars for my NIC,VG, PG, and Premixed Base. (easier to get the last little bit and no tipping). And here is a pic of the final results. Both racks are hinged (makes them more stable when opened) and have a latch to keep closed when put away. Thanks for reading. Hope you like. -

Finally after 30 years of smoking a pack a day I have gave up on the icky sticks and found my new love of vaping.
Last month on a whim (well I was sick and had a lung infection) I decided to try out the ecig world so I stopped at a local cig shop to buy my first ecig. Of course this place ended up not being the best place to start but I didn't give up (almost did). They started me off with a tiny eGo battery, a really crappy plastic tank and some of the worst eliquid in the world. Not knowing any better I kept going in and buying more of that crap juice until one day I thought I poisoned myself with a juice that I swear was pure ether...
After that day I did some online searching and found a real vape shop about 40 miles away and headed up there. While I was there I picked up an aspire bdc tank and some awesome juice. I made a couple more trips back up there until the last time I was there I was charged $45 for a simple ego twist battery. Not knowing any better I paid for it and was on my way. Once I learned how much I should have really paid for it I did some more online searching and found some much closer vape shops including one only minutes away.
Now that I was on the right track to succeeding in my quest to quit smoking I thought it was time to up the game so I purchased an itazte mvp v2, nautilus mini and nautilus tank. That is the setup that has now made me happy and will keep me from going back to the icky sticks. Oh and the Space Jam Astro also has to take some credit.
In less than a month I have gone from 24mg down to 3-6mg of nicotine and I 'm quickly heading for the 0mg mark. That's my goal and I'm confident I will get there. How long it will take I don't know but as long as I'm off the icky sticks I don't care.
Today I ordered up a shiny new eLeaf iStick in blue for 34.95 shipped. What a great bargain for a 20w vv/vw mod. It will be my take to work and keep in my pocked mod for the cold Ohio winter we have coming.
To anyone that is looking to quit smoking and wants to take up vaping I beg you to not make the same mistakes I made and to just fork out the cash for a quality vv/vw mod and quality tank. If you get what worked for me right off the bat I am sure you will succeed in your quest. You can pick up the iStick mod and Nautilus or Nautilus Mini tank for less than $50 on ebay. If nothing else make sure you get a quality good tasting liquid. Seriously try the Space Jam Astro juice.
Sorry my first post was so long winded but I am excited to share my story

Best battery for a beginner? Simple is best in my mind. I would vote for either an Evod Twist or a Vision Spinner 2. Both are simply plug and play. lol Easy to charge, easy to use. Get a starter kit or just get the battery by itself, and buy a tank separately. Good tanks would be either a Protank or a Nautilus.
Juices are subjective. Look for flavor profiles that suit your personal tastes. As to nicotine level, that depends on you. I'm a pack a day smoker, so I started with a high nicotine level (24 and 18), but you can get levels all the way down to 0.

ValerieeRJackson reacted to mkauthen in I'm in love....
Ok, so I'm not naming names, but a few people from this group helped me out immensely. Lets just say its like Christmas around here.
Buuut.... Someone provided me with an aero base for my protank 2, and I have to say, it is the best thing ever! I filled my protank with the usual juice (dopey drops), put the tank together using the aero base, and 2 things are immediately different. 1. it does not leak! no more flooding the battery head! and 2. the flavor is soooo much better now! This may all be in my head, but I am so happy right now!
To those of you that decided to bless me and my hubby, I thank you again. I honestly can't believe how helpful everyone on this forum has been (I don't have very good luck on forums and such, I seem to be a troll magnet).
Thank you for reinstating my faith in humanity, apparently there is hope.
Hugs to everyone!

I'm right with you on the "low-pack-anxiety"... if I had less than one unopened pack, I was manic until I made it to the store to restock! Now that I vape, the anxiety has virtually gone away, at least to the fact that I don't have to check to make sure I have a minimum 4-hour supply with me just to check the mailbox
My OCD won't let me get down to one of something anyway... I tend to stock-pile everything from light-bulbs, toilet-paper, dish-soap... anything non-perishable, I like to have at least a 2-3 month supply on hand... and there are times in my life when I was glad I had a few things stockpiled

In my previous post I mentioned that I was a judge at a story telling contest. The venue is on the top floor of a building with no lift. there are quite a few levels of stairs and once inside the venue you are basically in that room without escape. Of course one can go out but it's not very polite and you are rather expected to stay for the duration. That can be 3 to 4 hours. I've not done this contest for about 3 years so I was so pleasantly surprised. The last time I did it no matter how hard I tried to concentrate on my duties, my mind kept saying, "how can I go sneak a smoke"? like every 5 seconds. This time, I couldn't believe it was happening that I really didn't think about missing my vape. I was really concentrating on critiquing the kid's stories. I only thought about vaping when I had to put my hand in my pocket for a pen or something and felt my mods. Even then I was able to go right back to what I was doing with only a minor craving for the vape. I was so amazed! I think this was the first time I've been in a closed venue since I started vaping. I've always been so paranoid about not having equipment failure without even waiting to see if a craving happened. In my mind this goes to support the argument that all those other chemicals in tobacco smoke are at least as responsible for tobacco addiction as nicotine.
I also mentioned that I went to a pub with friends after the contest and saw a lady with a very cool PV that I didn't get to find out about. But I didn't mention one of the greatest moments of that little session. I was leaving and had to pass a stand of trees where some of the staff from the pub were having a smoke break. One of the guys had a very cool 1960's Michael Jackson afro and wasn't smoking but vaping an eGo twist. I had to stop and comment. I told him he looked so cool, retro and modern at the same time. He said afros are coming back. Made me feel so young again for just a moment. (SIGH)

Yeah totally agree with you for some reason I still love the smell of tobacco in a good way. You know the feeling that once you were addicted to it. But now that I'm into vaping the smell of tobacco doesn't really affect me that much after all

ValerieeRJackson reacted to jonnoh in Some Ideas for Newbies
Hi. I'm Jon from at the moment, Malaysia and I've got a few insights that's hopefully helpful to those new to this wonderful activity.
Firstly, I was a 2 pack a day smoker for nearly 50 years, and had really given up the idea of ever going a day without a cigarette, cigar or pipe. I really thought I'd hack myself to death, and at the time 61, sooner rather than later.
Then I discovered vaping. I'd discovered it a couple of years before, but the devices at the time didn't work very well. They looked like cigarettes or pens and you had to refill cotton or whatever fabric pieces in the filter looking part which contacted the coil to produce vapour. They weren't consistent, didn't produce quality flavour, and the batteries weren't reliable.
Then I got into the much improved devices with clearomizers, atomizers and tanks, batteries that would last a whole day, and that was a whole new world. I stopped smoking 4 May, 2013 and with a few bumps now know that I'll be vaping for as long as I live. I truly expect that to be quite a bit longer because I feel better than I did when I was 12 and bought my first pack. That's basically my credential for saying this. I know nicotine has addictive qualities, but in my opinion it's not nearly so addictive as the FDA would have you believe, If it were, those nicotine patches and gum along with a dummy cigarette for the hand to mouth habit would be a highly effective way to quit smoking. Basically they don't work for most people. They certainly didn't for me. My joke all those years ago was, "Yeah, I tried those patches, but I couldn't keep them lit."
I really think that the other 4000 or so chemicals produced in cigarette, cigar and pipe smoke are more important than people think. It's really easy to just blame nicotine. I'm convinced from the rush I get those few times I've been caught short and had to smoke analogues, that those chemicals have properties that are also highly addictive, probably more so than nicotine. They probably mimic narcotic analgesics to make you feel good about what you are doing even though you know intellectually it's killing you slowly. Other chemicals probably act as bronchodilators to ease breathing and calm wheezing. Still others probably are like steroids to reduce inflammation to keep you from noticing the damage being caused by the tar particles. Maybe that's why your lungs feel so bad after a night's sleep and deprivation from these chemicals, so that you're inclined to immediately want to feel better so you light a cigarette and almost immediately after hacking up a lung, feel so much better.
To conclude, the nicotine in vapour is a great help in overcoming the cigarette addiction, but so is the vapour cloud, and the hand to mouth activity. I strongly recommend you to buy a reasonable device and not one of those convenience store disposables before you decide if vaping will help you. I'm not very familiar with the names, and many here can direct you to some good starter products. My real point is to keep vigilant of those cravings that come from sources other than nicotine, and be prepared. If I had known this before I started I would have had an easier time making the decision to change smoke for vapour. Instead I actually listened to the idiot, easily swayed, easily lobbied FDA that nicotine was the major bad guy. I write this because I so want everyone who tries this to succeed. Plus, as many here say, it makes an awesome hobby. Best of luck to all you newbies. It really works. My real difficulty was deciding to switch, because I was afraid that life without cigarettes wasn't worth living. Then the discovery that quitting was almost totally painless.
It's been 504 days, and I'm loving life even without cigarettes!
