I agree with the Sonys. That is what all of my 18650's are. They have been great. I really have not pushed them too hard, except charge cycles. I only use the mechanical for a few hours in the evening when I am not on the road, and weekends. I charge the one I used until morning and rotate. I am going to get the magnets that Comp was talking about, and I may try a set of the xtar's. The 18650's are supposed to be wrapped Sonys with a button top. I was looking at the Panasonics, and they look good, I just don't understand their nomenclature. I have read to stay with IMR batteries, but Panasonic makes so many different ones I don't know which ones are the correct chemistry.

Well, I ordered a couple of the xtar 18350's. I think I should have found the specifications first...lol They are only 4.5A. Not going to try subohming with them I also bought a couple of efest 18500 button tops, these will probably work with my builds. I accidentally clicked and added a 454 bigblock clone...oops. (I have to quit doing that)

From what I see, your tank does have a replaceable coil. (They have made many different iclear16's) It is just my opinion, but if you are trying to save a little money, I would look for a local shop (either where you bought it or another one), pick up a couple of coils, and another iclear16. You can then have a coil soaking in vodka while you vape another, and a complete backup, or for another flavor. This should be relatively inexpensive. I would guess around $2.00/ea for coils and $4 - 5 each for tanks. This would get you by until you save up some money and can buy some next level equipment. Shipping also takes a bit so you don't want to be without. I found these links on a supporting supplier (in china) from this site. I have never bought from them so I can't endorse them. I am assuming based on pictures and your descriptions that this is what you have. I am not positive though. iClear 16D: http://www.healthcabin.net/...products_id=8597 coils: http://www.healthcabin.net/...products_id=8583 I hope this helps! PS: As you can probably see, buying online is substantially less expensive!

That is a good start. I don't use the iclear16's for daily use any more, but they are a great little atomizer to start out with. I keep quite a few around to test liquids. I have the dual top coil versions, not the bottom coil like yours show to be. You can clean these, but only having one tank, and no spare coils, about all you can do is to disassemble and rinse the tank out. The coil/wick is cleanable, but you will have to let it dry and that can take a while. The battery looks like a standard ego style, they all work pretty good. Most are not totally drained when the light turns yellow it is usually around half or less left. All of them I have had the light would turn red, and then quit. When charging, the light on mine would go out when fully charged. Mine was so cheap it had no markings, but lasted quite a while. You are in for a fun journey! I would keep going with what you have, but be looking at larger batteries and glass tanks. I don't want to discourage you, but to stay off of cigarettes, you will need backups. If you have to buy something, buy the "good" stuff. I would start here at the Vapor Talk Store, they have quite a few choices in batteries like the Vision batteries http://www.vaportalk..../variable-voltage-ecig-batteries/ and somthing like a Nautilus, Nautilus Mini or Kanger Aero Tank http://www.vaportalk.com.../ecig-tanks/ Good Luck, and Keep up the Good Work!

I have seen these. Do they stay put? I was really scared they might eventually cause a short if something went wrong. Of course this is just something I have ran through my head, not something I have any experience with. I think I may need them anyway to take up some of the length. From what I read the sonys are a little short and makes the switch throw a little long in this mod. One way or the other, magnets and other spare parts are cool, and you never know when you might need them! I ran across those last night. It really sounds interesting. I may order a couple if my flat tops don't work and try these out. Has anyone had experience with them? I also would like to know a reputable brand of 18350's. I know there are a lot out there, but don't know how many are sub ohm capable. I really think the size is more practical for me, because I only use my mechanical in the evenings in my recliner. I don't need the big capacity (repetitively speaking) of the 18650's because I only use them for a few hours and they go on the charger.

Thank you Tameiki!

I had a near disaster this week. I dropped my MPV and Nautilus from about waist high onto concrete. It came apart at the airflow ring. It thankfully went back together and works fine. Because of this, I ordered a new one and threw in a 49 clone (it was less than $20) I'm sure it isn't a great one, but heck I have been using a $15 GP Paps clone since I started. I have read that button top batteries are needed because of the hybrid top cap. What are your recommendations for a 18650? I have VTC4's and they may work fine. All of my RDAs have longish positive pins. I also want to pick up some 18350s just for fun. I don't super sub ohm. I am usually in the .4 to .8 ohm range. What brand works best for y'all? Oops, should have posted this in Modding Forum, sorry!

Good video! I really like the concept of using what you have laying around and making a mod out of it. It is kinda funny when i look at something and say dang that would make a great mod! If you are using a computer, try this link to Garrett1234567 's video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i0WGjVHCsKA

That is cool! It is the true definition of the MOD!

I really like it! I am itching to build one so bad! I want to make it with a mechanical switch. I have one figured out in my head, but I don't really have the tools necessary to build it the way I want. I still have some wood working tools, but no metal/machining/threading tools. But I know me too well. I work way too much and the the next 3 months are going to be H3LL. I will just dream about it!
-
I'm with you! I can't figure that one out either.

I agree with the smart people here! Do what works for you. If 24 is working good go for it! I have been thinking about stepping down to a lower nicotine level, but with the stresses of work, and life in general, my cravings have crept back in a bit lately. So I have decided to scrap the plan. I an not worried one bit about the nicotine level in my body. Sure I would like to no longer be dependent on nicotine, but I'm happy for now not being dependent on analogs. One day at a time! Good Luck!

Trouble getting started, anyone else have this problem?
jasonculp replied to mkauthen's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I agree with the wise ones above! I was smoking 2-3 packs a day of Reds. I never felt the nicotine at all! I did get some stomach aches, but not the woozy, dizzy, nicotine feeling. I started with 18mg juice and it wasn't doing it. I moved up to to 24 mg and chain vaped. I, like Comp, kept it very close. I would stay in a near nicotine induced buzz all day. It didn't take long to kick the analogs. I couldn't really smoke any analogs because I was pumped so full of nicotine from the vape that every time I smoked one it would make me feel terrible (nearly ill). I probably was taking in a little too much nicotine, but it worked. I was also drinking about 3 times as much water as usual. It probably wasn't the smartest way to go about it. I am sure my nicotine levels were much higher than they should have been. It did work. I have gone from 8-10 ml a day of 24 to less than 4 ml. I will probably move to 18 in the next few weeks. Good Luck! -
Welcome Tweak! That is a good looking build! If the Plume Veil is that good, I will probably have to get one! My TOBH is amazing. It is my first dripper though, so not much to compare it to. I am not going nearly as low. I only go .4 - .6. This is a great group here. They have been extremely patient and kind answering all of my newbie questions. Thank you for your service!

Itsmedeanna64, I also have had extreme allergies. It doesn't sound quite as bad as yours, but worse than average. I have had the surgery, took a rotation of claritin, zyrtec, and allegra. More prescription nose sprays than i care to count. I am now off of all of them and not suffering. I do still occasionally need a shot of afrin, or a sudafed, but it seems to be mostly when I drink beer. I think I may have an allergy to something in beer. My sinuses stop up any time I drink it. It still isn't bad enough to quit drinking though.

I saw a wooden box mod the other day in a video and I can't find it. It was a very slick looking totally mechanical without wires. It used a switch mechanism similar to a Reo that was a piece of brass or copper that was bent by the button to make contact. It also used 2 18650's that could be in series or parallel by switching around some other brass pieces. It was very cool. I really don't have a lot of interest in using one in series, but the added Milli-amp hours of a parallel build would be great if I ever get a Big Dripper to drip on the go. http://www.toddsreviews.com/2014/06/sjp-twin-18650-mechanical.html I may be totally wrong about how the switch works... I do like it though.

What device do you use to visit the forum?
jasonculp replied to Christopher's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
I mostly use Firefox/Windows. I use iPhone and TapaTalk when I am mobile. -
I have been really thinking about this myself. I really would love to build a wood/brass dual 18650 fully mechanical box. I have it built in my head, but that isn't getting anything done!

Kangertech Protank keeps dry vaping
jasonculp replied to endlesstempo's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
Sorry Earthling! Bad writing on my part. I never ran anything over 8 - 8.5 watts except the BVC coils. In fact around 7 on the Kangar tanks. I never really liked the higher wattage stuff back then. I really don't like running running the BVC's at 11 but any less and it seems they flood more. -
Kangertech Protank keeps dry vaping
jasonculp replied to endlesstempo's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
I have figured out that I don't play well with Kangar tanks. I WANT to use them. I just can't keep them from flooding. They look good and seem to be very high quality. I am up to 5 of them. One did turn out to be a knock off sold as original. I bought it at a B&M that has been accused of this multiple times. I really think with me, it is not a tank or wick problem. I think it is the technique I use when I vape. I paid forward many of my coils, and lent 3 out to other users when they needed them. They had no problems with them. I am keeping them around because I have quite a few used coils and want to rebuild them one day using cotton or rayon. All of this being said, I also flood my Nautiluses too! I am one of the few people that have holy heck with the new BVC coils for the Nautilus mini. I am having good luck lately. I've been running the same coil for 3 weeks at 11 watts and it is doing great. I have also had them flood in 20 minutes. I am about out of new spares, and am thinking of getting 10 BVC's and 10 BDC's but the dual coils are getting harder to find. -
BDM53ENT, I really agree with you! This is a great place. I have not participated much lately and have not been buiding much. Work has been very taxing to say the least. I look at y'all rebuilding coils (small atomizers) and really envy you. They are so small! I have attempted a few times and not been successful. I have a hard time with anything under 28 gauge. The builds on my TOBH are so much larger and it is so much easier. The Kanger and Aspire heads would make so much more sense for me to rebuild. I use the tanks so much more than the dripper! I will bet back to trying it soon!

Vaping to quit or Vaping to substitute
jasonculp replied to bcartervol98's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
I am planning to step down to 0 nicotine. I have never made that first step down. I am in no hurry! I am not smoking. I do enjoy the hobby end of things. I guess we will just have to see when I get there! -
christov11, you are too kind. I really hate admitting it, but no, most of mine is stupid! I think it has a lot to do with my extremely addictive nature. I have owned outright my house for close to 20 years. We do have 1 car payment. All of the rest is consumer debt that seemed like a good idea at the time. My debt ratio is approaching 100 percent of annual income. I can't say no. I guess I should clarify that 20 percent of my debt is medical. My wife's knee surgery (with good insurance). If I could only get addicted to thriftiness, or saving! You are correct in the fact that it did create many good memories and fun times. I just am not sure it is worth the sleepless nights. (I am a worrier, I worry about having enough stuff to worry about!)

I can't help much. I have not kept it down to the penny, but I have spent much more on vaping supplies than I have saved from not buying cigarettes. It is my fault. I have turned it into a hobby, and as everyone knows hobby=$$$. I also have not been quit nearly as long as you. It doesn't seem like you have to have every new shiny thing that hits the market, like I do. I have noticed something about myself in any financial situation. My spending always meets my available cash....eventually. I have probably doubled my income on many different occasions in my life, and my spending always has caught up. Every year at tax time I look back and nearly get sick. My wife and I doubled our incomes in the past 10 years, but we have more debt than ever and less spending money than ever. But just like smoking, it is hard to quit, even though I know it's bad for me!

Now I might be weird but...
jasonculp replied to hookahhighness's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Sorry, didn't mean to imply that I have one stitch of artistic ability(lol)....just an extreme fascination and admiration. My step daughter has been pushing me for years, but I am starting to feel too old. At the same time, my wife has plans for more. I am 44 she is 53. My step daughter is really trying to talk her mom out of it she says that she is too old. My wife actually looks a lot younger than her age and most people think her and her daughter are sisters. I still dream about, and have a plan. I've just never been in the right mood, with enough money, while near an artist I trust.
