You are correct from what I have read. It seems to have (2) separate dual coil assemblies. I don't have one, just read about it, so if anyone has first hand knowledge it would be helpful. I am also curious on how they are arranged electrically. Are they parallel or series? Depending on the series/parallel connection (2) 1.5 ohm coils could be .75 or 3 ohms

IMO, this place is much better than any 12 step program I have ever been in. I have only been in 2 and neither helped! In fact the second one nearly put me in my addiction....

This really interests me. I have been thinking about moving into this. I just don't know where to start.

Output RMS and Output Mean
jasonculp replied to NahkriinKrosis's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
Please don't get me wrong, the voltage reading is close. Like in Phil's video, the volts were off by 1 volt at low voltage, and much closer at the higher ones. I hate to say I have kind of become obsessed with this subject now. I have been reading everything I can find about boost/buck circuits in ecigs. What makes this so bad is that I have no desire to build my own circuit or mod for that matter. It is just curiosity. If I did build one, it would be a dual 18650 fully mechanical with no wires. With the Sigelei 100W for around $100 and the IPV3 around $150, I don't feel like the many hours to build something would be worth it. If I had a creative mind, or a new idea, it might be different. I am sure with my brain, I would only come up with something so simple that would not work as good as something I could buy. -
It is a regulated box mod uses 2 18650's. I am looking at getting one too. That is why I picked up a couple of VTC 4's...lol

I really don't mind tinkering with the 510. I only have 3 RDAs and usually stick to 1 build for weeks. I was hoping to get an RTA and use it. I just don't really know where to start. I can't really justify buying one for another month or so. I will have plenty of time to research. I think the magnets will be great!
-
I may just go ahead and do it. I have some amazon credit built up and cant find anything i would like more than that. They are selling the Sigelei 100 watt and the IPV2's for about the same amount. I think out of the 2 the Sigelei wins.

Welcome to Vapor Talk! Please let me know how you like the Sigelei, I have been waiting to pull the trigger on that one. I have heard that it is huge. I still want one but if it is as large as they say I don't know.

Output RMS and Output Mean
jasonculp replied to NahkriinKrosis's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
Something you have to understand is all electronic devices, of this type, use a method to boost the voltage, or higher voltage batteries and a method to reduce voltage. This makes your 3.7 volt battery put out 5.5 volts for example. The read out on your device is not extremely accurate, because without an oscilloscope to measure the output the display must use mathmatic formulas to give you a readout. Here are the formulas for a Vrms and Vavg (mean). http://www.rfcafe..onversion.htm We use Vrms because it takes the Alternating Current (I actually think most use DC-DC duty cycle, which produces a sinewave) that is put out by a PMW to provide us with a Voltage that closer represents the equal amount in Direct Current (Like produced like a mechanical mod). I am not sure how your device uses Vrms and Mean to adjust the voltage to your atty. I guess you would have to ask the engineer that designed the circuit. In my opinion, our devices are not designed to be as accurate as many would like. I really feel like the numbers on the readout are just there so you can find what you like and get it back to that setting again later. If you like the rms output, use it, or vice versa. There are many people that are perfectly happy with the twisting the little dial on the bottom of a spinner, never knowing exactly how much voltage they are actually set to. I just got an iStick a few days ago. I just watched PBusardo's review. He gives it a thumbs down. His main reason is it uses Mean (Vavg) on it's display rather than Vrms. That is why many people that are using other devices at a certain wattage, find this one is too hot at the same wattage (or voltage). He goes in to quite a bit of detail and explains it pretty well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=_W1G7p_fCJw I hope this helps. PS: To all the electrical engineers/electronics experts. I am a hobbiest, I don't claim to be and expert at all...if I screwed this up, please let me know! -

Output RMS and Output Mean
jasonculp replied to NahkriinKrosis's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
This is one of the easiest to understand videos I could find on the subject. All it really amounts to is how you measure the voltage. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FpqDY21obaM I have also heard some people say it is how the device varies the PWM with respect to atomizer resistance. My opinion is it is just how it is measured and displayed. -

100% VG, How is this possible?
jasonculp replied to Compenstine's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I didn't want to sound like a smart a*s. It is mathematically impossible to have 100 percent vg, unless it is pure vg. Of course using rounding, i guess it just depends on how many decimals you carry it to. I am with you a much better term would be PG Free or 0% PG. From what I have read, VG is not a good solvent to extract flavors, so something such as alcohol, water, or something else would have to be used. Of course it could be concentrated into minute amounts.... -

That is simular to the type hunting we did in Mississippi. It was a nice place that belonged to one of the pilots that used to fly for us. It was not many acres (by our standards here in the flat land) but it was dense pine trees, and had a beautiful creek that ran through it. The hunting closest to me that we did most of our lives is in the rugged mesquite trees that is dry and ugly. It is longer shots most people use the larger deer rifles. My 2 are not so great by today's standards both are 700 Remingtons a .243 and a .270. When hunting turned from fun to a major business I never got to go. Leases in the 80's and 90's with a group would only run $300-$400 a year. We were in a group of 4 families and that was for Deer/Hog on about 1200 acres. It was great. The same ranch sold to a Dr in Dallas and it is now a $5000 & up per gun "hunting experience" they are guided, guaranteed hunts, they don't even run cattle on it anymore. But like most of my past hobbies, it just got too expensive, and I lost interest. I am in the stage of life (as are you, I think we are the same age) where I should be slowing down and enjoying a bit. I shouldn't be working 60+ hours a week and gone from home more than half of the time. I have just allowed myself to get upside down, in life, and now I don't have a choice. My poor wife is 53 with terrible rheumatoid arthritis and needs to retire, or get on disability. The reality of the situation is that it won't happen because we could never afford it! Sorry for going dark there! Ever time I think of fun, I get knocked back into the reality I have built for myself...lol

I used to be. It has gotten to be such a big business around here, I can't afford it any more. The last time I went was in the early 2000's with my wife and stepson. We went to Mississippi. I took my .44mag Super Blackhawk my wife and stepson took rifles. I really only took one shot and shot way high (handload was different than the what the scope was sighted with) My wife never took a shot and my stepson brought home a doe (he just wanted meat for the freezer) It was the most fun hunting trip we have ever had. Now he is married, and we don't have the time or money

I do agree that we know WAY more than the FDA. I tried all of their "approved" methods of quitting...and continued to smoke. I started vaping and I don't smoke any more...

Omega Clone, coil problem
jasonculp replied to BDM53ENT's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
I think the MVP will not fire below .9 (or at least mine wouldn't) When you build a dual coil setup you have to basically cut the resistance in half. If you have two 1ohm coils it will effectively be .5 ohms. I have read you need to run in the 1.2 - 1.5 ohm range to take full advantage of the what power you do have. I recommend http://www.steam-engine.org/ to get your calculations. With 28 gauge you might want to start out with a single coil just to start out.
