  1. Yours is the same conclusion that I have came to. I love how simple the mechanicals are, but I am really enjoying the versatility of my electronic boxes. I can go from tank to RDA and just push my up button until it gets where I want it. I can build a 1.5 ohm dripper and push it as high as I want, or dial it back for tanks. If i don't like a build, I am not stuck with rebuilding. I can up the power, or cut it. I also love the steady power. It doesn't fluctuate much from start to finish. One thing about this though is you have to watch the firmware. According to some the iStick will reduce the power ouput at about 2/3's charge. People think this is a battery saving method.
  2. I do not have any experience with the Tesla. Being a dual 18650 you should get some respectable vape time out of it. (If you buy the sub ohm tanks) Make sure to read up on the all the safety stuff in the rebuilding/modding forums. I understand you are not rebuilding, but subohming is subohming. Mechanical mods have no real saftey for shorts and low voltage. (I have never seen one taken apart, so I am assuming) My only problem with a Mechanical mod/tank combination is the reduction of power as your battery drains. Earthling was talking about it in an earlier post. With the most regulated mods you keep the same power at the coil until the mod's battery cut off kicks in. Another problem is that they are not powerful enough on tanks. I run my Nautilus and Delta at 13 eleaf watts which is nearly 17 normal watts. A mechanical mod with fresh batteries can only put out around 9.8 watts (4.2volts with a 1.8ohm coil). It will fall off pretty quick after that.
  3. If I had to build myself an All Day Vape rig for $100 here is what I would get: Tank: $25.95 Aspire Nautilus or $24.00 Aspire Nautilus Mini and (5) coils $12.99 APV: $31.99 iStick There are a lot of different ones in the price range just above. I am currently looking at the VaporShark DNA30, they have finally got down to $99.99. I am also enjoying the Joytech Delta 19 and it cost around $36.00 Good Luck!
  4. Earthling is spot on. Everything in vaping is so personal and subject to differing opinions. I have now tried 3 different RTAs and it isn't for me. It just intensifies the flavor of my juices to a point that I don't like, for now. I also have a couple mechanical mods that haven't seen use in a while. I got an IPV3 as an impulse buy. I love it, but it is too big for me to carry daily. I am like you and have been running istick/nautilus mini. I switched to the Delta 19 a few days ago, and I am loving it. I really haven't had it long enough to recommend anyone buying it yet. The vape is great, and it holds around 3ml which are pluses, but I don't know how long the coils last and they are kinda pricy. The ultimate rig for me? I have been dreaming up an electronic mod in the 20-50 watt range, a little larger than the istick, but with a recessed tank. With at least 2000mah. I have been drawing it in skethup, but I really want it made of high end wood and polished brass. I am thinking of building it out of an iStick that I have ruined (intentionally) and using either my Nautilus (Full Size) or the delta as the tank.
  5. Here is one. I buy my spring loaded 510's from them. They have had great service so far. That chip seems a little pricey...but don't they all! http://www.varitube.com/Authentic-YiHi-SXmini-60W120W-Chip_p_172.html
  6. The more I learn, the less I know when it comes to wicking!...lol I tend to have the best luck with Rayon. I think it has to do with the major hatred I have for the smell of burning cotton. Rayon will sort of squeak when you have it right in the coils. When I was messing with RTAs I really learned how important it was. If you didn't wick it correctly it leaked! I really want to get some Japanese cotton, I just have not ordered it yet. I want to start rebuilding my BVC's and rebuild my Delta 19 Dual coils as BVCs with Comp's Tiger Wire.
  7. If it works for you keep it up! Don't feel bad if you need to go up though... Do whatever it takes to get through the next few, minutes, hours, days, weeks, etc. Drink a lot of water to help flush the toxins out of your body! Keep up the good work!
  8. I have not been very successful myself. I have been pretty good at doing my RDA's an RTA's, but not at Kanger and Aspire. I don't have any trouble making the coils and getting them in the little housings, but I can't get the wicking down. I need to get some Japanese Cotton. I just have not had a real reason to order anything lately.
  9. I have not seen it done, but I bet you could rebuild the .5 ohm head. Since you already have an ohm meter, all you would need is some kanthal and wicking material, such as Japanese cotton. I would also recommend a dedicated coil ohm meter, they are so much easier to use, you just screw in the atty. It is a lot of fun and dripping can be a blast. I did it for a while, but don't much any more. My last build has worked so good, I just dry burn and rewick. I am now entering the phase of possibly building my own mod. I have been gathering parts, but I have a long way to go. I also need to upgrade my tools...
  10. No one hurt, just his pickup, and the deer. That is what makes my deal bad. I sell mainly to oilfield....I drive an Impala. I also can carry no firearms with me on some of my route. I have some plants (CO2 and refinery) that I have to go into and it is a federal offense to carry a firearm. I have never been searched, or even questioned, but I can't take the risk. I don't know how my impala would hold up against a dog...but a dump truck makes a good dent in a rear quarter panel. I got hit by one in October. Going slow, no injuries...lol
  11. It took me a few weeks of vaping and smoking to quit. I hate to say but I had the cravings for months. It wasn't until I went up to 24mg that the cravings finally stopped. I have made it 6 months and still am at 24mg. I really don't vape as much as I did 3 months ago so I guess I don't take in as much nicotine as I did. I am just taking the wait and see approach. I feel so much better from not smoking that I am not really concerned about the nicotine. Good luck!
  12. No time to hunt! I do get to do a lot of driving a see a lot of country. When I am on the road, it is from 200 up to 400 miles a day/night. I do get to avoid a lot of deer on the highway! One of our other salesmen got hit by a deer two weeks ago near the midland/odessa area. He was only running about 45 and the deer hit him right behind the driver's door!
  13. Dang, I am stumped! I can't imagine why the mod is showing correct on one, and off on the other.
  14. Dang! I was born in Fort Worth, lived in Breckenridge during the school year and near Lubbock during the summer until high school. We then moved up here full time when I was a freshman. I am lucky now my sales territory covers Big Spring, San Angelo, Brownwood, Stephanville, Gainsville...etc Basically everything East of Lubbock, and as far South as I feel like going! I also have everything North of I-40 to Oklahoma... It is a huge territory...lol It sends me back through the country I lived in when I was younger, which is nice!
  15. Nice! I have never hunted there. I hunted in Breckenridge (40 miles North East of Clyde) when I was a kid, but now it has become such a big business I just don't do it any more. I also used to fish a lot in Hubbard Creek Lake (Breckenridge) but it is hard to find water in it now!
  16. They do. I was actually delivering parts to a customer. I have a couple of good customers in Clyde. I actually live up by Lubbock, flat, dusty, and no trees...lol
  17. You're just bragging now...lol 35F here...drinking coffee by the fireplace.
  18. I was curious if you screw it into the base then check the ohms with your fluke at the 510 connector. Something could be shorting inside the base, or possibly the center pin is pushing up against the side or something...
  19. I guess I went the wrong direction! I was in Abilene today and it was misting and cool. I hit a few light snow flurries on my way back home near Lubbock.
  20. I have never heard of niccups, but I have had them many times! Now I know what to call it! The problem comes when one battery gets weaker than the other. This can cause much more heat, especially when one battery is trying to "charge" the other. It can also cause some inconsistency due to the added connections and possible voltage drop. Most people who use them this way say to rotate them. I do not do this in any mods except for my ipv3. All of my mechanicals are single 18650/18500/18350. I do have a lot of experience with batteries hooked up this way and it can cause all kinds of weird problems. Some of the airplanes we had used series to parallel connection. It had 4 12volt batteries to end up with 24 volts. When one goes bad it caused all kinds of issues. I also had a few tractors that used 2 6volt batteries to make 12volts. I don't want to discourage you about using stacked batteries, just be careful. If a battery starts acting weird, chunk it, or use it single and get a new pair. Batteries are cheap compared to a $270 mod or a visit to the ER if something goes bad...
  21. I am sure you tried it, but I am curious, does it measure the same when screwed into the base? From what I have read the Sig is fairly accurate when it come to measuring ohms (for a mod).
  22. I love it! I wished you had posted this earlier!
  23. I do the same thing. I try to buy in 120ml batches and it lasts a while. I can tell a difference in mine though. I can taste a bit of "chemical" taste in nearly all juices I buy. I assume it is the nicotine, but it isn't as bad in high VG juices, so it could be the PG. I just leave them in a cool, dark cabinet for a few days with the lid off and it goes away. I then seal it up and use it as needed. I have a tendancy to talk this way in real life. I try to not sound too "Hillbillyish", but it just slips out. Everyone is Ma'am and Sir, no matter how old or young, and a lot of y'alls... I guess it is part of my upbringing and being raised in a small ranching/farming community. To make matters worse, my wife, who is hispanic, has an accent that is closer to a Southern Belle, with a little South of the Border mixed in.... We can't use any voice activated technology...lol
  24. I fill my mini up 3 times a day, so 4.5ml or so and I have been running this coil nearly 3 weeks. I have noticed a little degradation, but not enough to change it. As a side note, I am having much better luck with my 1.8ohm BVC's than the 1.6ohm. I had (2) 1.6ohm coils last not much more than a day. They didn't burn out, they just flooded constantly. I thought I might have gotten a bad batch, but the next one lasted fine.
