Bump Everytime You Buy Something New
jasonculp replied to blucavvy's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I got my wire from Temco today. I was nearly out due to many, many, poor attempts at building a huge coil in a tiny atomizer! I also got a surprise today. A few weeks ago Asmodus contacted me about the preorder on the Colossal. They still do not have them, or have any news on when they might. They offered me the Snow Wolf 50 Watt I decided that it would be nice to have a backup temp control mod. I have one, and an iStick 40 TC on the way. I really didn't care for the looks of the mod myself but I had already paid for it (January 1, 2015). Now that it is here I kinda like it. It is a bit larger than my Zero, but I really think it is more accurate. -
I am getting about a week with my wicking. Even ones I have changed look good. I am running pretty low temps.

Bump when you get something in vape mail.

Let us know what you think! -
I just saw this posted on youtube. It looks good, except, listen to that rattlesnake in temp mode. I hope they smooth that out a bit before final release!

Welcome to Vapor Talk! I have been at it a little over a year and a half. I do feel better, and my health improvements have not gone unnoticed by my doctor. To be honest, one of my favorite things (other than the health benefits) is not stinking. I am so glad that I don't smell like a walking ashtray.

The more I think about it I agree with you. You really can't compare them they are really as far apart as a mechanical is to a variable wattage device.

New Temp Control - IPV D2 or Cloupor GT?
jasonculp replied to Earthling789's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
I will second that. It is funny you really can't compare the two. With Kanthal it is putting a constant number of watts into the coil (so to speak) where on my .7 - .1 builds i may look down and it is only putting out 15 watts or somthing like that even though I have it set to 28. I have jacked up my temp to 600 and watts to 60 and just held it down until it starts drying out and the power starts dropping and the batteries are never warm. I really don't know how it does it. It really isn't too hard to work with, but trying to stay around .1 ohm can be challenging. As many coils as you have made you will not have any trouble with it. I am with Bebop and think a .1 - .15 preforms like a .5 or so coil, but with many differences. The main difference to me is I can still run higher wattages, but lower temps and tune my vape to exactly what I like. It takes a bit of tinkering to figure out what works best for you, but that is half the fun. It is fun to experiment. Just the rate at which you inhale can make your temp act differently. Just pick one up Earthling and see what you think. If you don't like it, let me know. I will buy the device off of you! -
That's a good question. I am running a .14 as we speak. It is in the SauceCode, so I am getting good airflow, and juice flow. I am having to cut my Nicotine/Flavor level I have gone from 18 mg to 9 mg, and thinking of going to 4 - 4.5 mg. I was not much of a sub ohm vapor, but I would definately guess that it is at least simular to a .5 or lower Kanthal build, but I think my settings on my mod make a lot of difference too. I am running at 30 watts and 370 degrees. This is just a S.W.A.G.

Keep us posted. The more I read about this mod the more I like it. I didn't realize it was using refinement to stabilize the temp similar to the DNA40. I really like this, because the longer you use it the more accurate it should get. Of course adding the Kanthal changes the coefficient of resistance of the coil. It also changes the curve, because when heated the resistance moves more linear on the nickel than the kantal so your temp readings will not be as accurate, but if it is consistent, I don't care what the screen says. Another thing I have learned in my limited experience with this temp stuff is it is dang picky. I setup my coils in the .1 - .15. Just the ambient temperature can change the resistance. I also can not use some of my tanks, due to connection issues. My Lemo 2 is going to require a bit of modification to keep the ohms stable. (It has a 2 piece base and the pin is a little short. It works fine with Kanthal, but too picky for nickel.

I apologize, I didn't read the title close enough. I have read that some people are having a bit of trouble with atty lock. I dug around and found this guy's fix on the web. I don't have an Evic, so I can't speak to the specifics of the device, but my TC mod acts really strange if there is a bit of bad connection anywhere. Here is the post: I don't know if it will help or not, but it is worth a shot!

Mike, have you checked all of your connections? Are your ohms jumping around? What device/tank are you running?

What your supernatural story/experience?
jasonculp replied to Christopher's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
This is a fascinating subject. I personally have only had one continued experience which is similar to TugBoat. After my grandparents passed away my dad wanted me to close my business and move home (it was just a satellite of his aerial spraying business about an hour away). I didn't have anywhere to live so we did some remodeling in my grandparents house and moved in. It had been empty for about a year. We painted, tiled, carpeted, etc. We brought the house from the 60's up to the 80's (in the 2000's...lol). Our bedroom is my grandparents room. At least once a week you can smell the smell of "Holly Berry" air freshener in that room only. My grandmother sprayed it all the time. It is really strange. My wife really doesn't like the smell, but it is comforting to me. I think the only reason I feel it is supernatural, is that room has had new drywall, insulation, carpet, texture, paint, furniture, etc. The master bath had a leak in the shower and it caused a musty smell, we redid the bathroom, before we moved in and never found a stopping point, so we redid the entire bedroom. We redid the ceiling and added new insulation and even the duct work had been upgraded in the HVAC. I am generally lean to the skeptical side, but it has defiantly made me more receptive. -
I am really missing mine! The paint came off and I sanded and polished it (after I disassembled it) I decided I was going to put a Vari-Tube spring loaded 510 connection in it, and i have not ordered one. So far it has been my favorite mod to date, if it just had temp control, it would be perfect. They are coming out with a new one, but it is still in preorder. I have very bad luck with preorders!

Worst Dry-Hit... EVER! (yes, I was stupid, lol)
jasonculp replied to Earthling789's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Time for a temp controlled mod?....hint hint.... Honestly, I am not sure TC could have helped the situation. I have not tested it myself. -
I don't dry fire my nickel coils. I don't know if this is right or wrong. I have just read that you really don't want to overheat nickel, and it is easy to do. I mainly have quit because I am lazy and I don't have to squeeze the coils since they are not touching...lol Everything you said is exactly the trouble I am having with the SubTank Mini. I have been tempted to grind off the tabs that stick up, but they work so good on Kanthal builds, I don't want to remove them. I am still using mine with a factory OCC .15 coil in it with a backup flavor.

With nearly 2 weeks on this tank, I can't say enough good about it. I took the short drip tip off and put the one off of my OBS on it (it is a bit longer). It is a pain to wick. I have learned to take get it fully wicked and ready to go, then take a small peice of paper and slip it inside the chimney/cover. I then put it over the coil and wick. I hold the paper while I turn the chimney to tighten it. If you don't do this the wick will get caught in the side holes and try to twist as you tighten it. I like the deck on this much better than the SubTank Mini for Ni200 coils. I guess my eyes are getting bad, because I can not get 10+ wraps of nickel in the SubTank Mini. The problem is the small tabs that stick up on each side of the screws. They make the Mini one of the easiest tanks to build Kanthal on, but get in the way with nickel. With nickel you don't want the wraps or legs touching so I have to bring my legs in at an angle. The tabs prevent this. On the SauceCode the top of the deck is flat, and the screws trap the wires nicely. I think 10 wraps is about the maximum though (with 28ga Ni200). The top fill and juice control work flawlessly. I will be hesitant to buy another tank without these features. You can also rewick or recoil without emptying the tank. I have not used the factory coils yet, so I really can't comment about them. I am running it on a temp control mod and I don't think they have nickel coils yet. With temp control my coils are lasting at least a week. I was going to rewick today, but the coil and wick look nearly as good as the day I built them. I don't change flavors in this tank, so no need to rewick.

Bump when you get something in vape mail.
jasonculp replied to Tam's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I got a pair from them a while back, and I really like them. I can't tell a whole lot of difference in them and the -25R's, but they are rated higher. One of mine seems to take longer to charge than all of the rest for some reason, but it seems to last as long as the rest. -
Frutti-Tutti, with everything....

I don't think you are doing anything wrong. I find it terribly difficult to build a 10 wrap coil in the SubTank Mini. Mine have been less wraps. I have a hard time hitting .1 ohm. This is why I have changed to the SauceCode. It isn't much better, but it is better (to build on). I wish someone would build something with a Lemo (sized) deck, better airflow, and top fill. So far I can't find it. I really don't want to go to the dual coils because it is twice the trouble (or at least you have to make the coils twice as big).

Cool! Congrats!

That is odd, but now that you mention it, they have not been very active lately.

what you find more appealing about vaping ?
jasonculp replied to cesar's topic in Polls and Questionnaires
Health was the first thing. Smell was next. As a salesman, I hated that I smelled like an ashtray. Cologne was useless, unless you used an obscene amount. Third is the hobby. I love the hobby. I totally understand people like bcarter (and most others) that are very happy just not smoking, and totally respect it. I am just one of those types who always looks for new gadget, or something new and shiny. I am not a cloud chaser, but I do enjoy my SauceCode with a .1 ohm Ni200 coil. It does force me to be a little more mindful of the clouds. I pretty much stick to one juice, but I am likely to change APV or tanks once a week. -
Tam- Here is the only information I can find on it. LE80 Mod by Lotus It looks like it is running 2 18650 batteries in series, so I bet, unless it has a 9 volt charger, it uses an external charger. I am not positive though.
