Good catch Spydre... my brain was thinking one thing and my hands typed another... What I should have said was anesthetic , rather than sedative... Cigarette manufacturers add ingredients to numb the throat/lungs to reduce the throat-hit and convulsive/cough reaction when inhaling. The "other" things smoked by lavendarshy also have this same effect, naturally... Yes, nicotine is a stimulant, but I was referring to the "additives"

Catching up, and a couple of questions
Earthling789 replied to spydre's topic in General Vaping Discussion
First of all... glad to see your back At 6W, that is relatively low, but if you're hitting it often, and the resistance of the coil is high (> 2 Ohms), that would explain a lot. Higher resistance coils take longer to heat, and also take longer to cool down. If you're chain-vaping, the body of the tank will become warm, and tends to stay that way because the coil stays hot, longer. What is the resistance of the coil you're using in your Kayfun? Do you have the same issue with your ProTank or Davide? What resistance coils are you using in those? -
Copper is an excellent heat-sync... and these look cool... If the price is right, I'd snag 'em!

The primary components of e-liquids are PG and VG... both are commonly found in asthma inhalers and dozens of other breathing/lung treatments. So, based on that, I do not believe ANY hype about them being dangerous or detrimental to your health if vaping them. Yes, there are other components in the flavorings, which are all safe to eat/ingest... vaping them? Who knows (yet), but still (my opinion) that vaping is safer than burning plant material and 4000 other man-made chemicals, and sucking that into your lungs. What is described as a tingling sensation is usually related to an allergy... probably to PG... it is rare, but just like peanut allergies, people are sensitive to different things. If you are getting the same experience from a 100% VG juice (which will be nearly impossible to vape using a tank, BTW), it is also possible that your body is simply "tasting" the flavor and vapor, which is a new experience. Everything you've smoked in the past are sedatives or contain a sedation additive... yes, even cigarettes... As you vape, you regain your ability to taste, smell, and this could be what is going on... your throat is simply capable of "feeling" again, which is something you're not use to? Are you drinking LOTS of water when you vape? Vaping will dry you out, and will compound the dry-throat, cotton-mouth, etc... Simply increasing your intake of water (a couple of liters a day, minimum) will alleviate a LOT of the dryness issues associated with vaping.

Like Tam said, tank-cracking juices will slowly deteriorate a tank... I've seen only one plastic tank "pop" and leak juice (Vivi Nova mini - not mine)... and I'm pretty sure it was damaged to start with. Usually, a tank-cracking juice will slowly spider-web a tank, or it may appear that the plastic is fogging. Once that happens, it's only a matter of time for it to begin leaking. Myself, I use Pyrex tanks (KPT2, KPT3-mini, AeroTank, and Nautilus) 99% of the time. I have a couple of EVOD tanks, but they rarely see any use anymore (will probably give them away to someone in need). Just be aware of the juices you're using, and keep an eye on your tanks. Most plastic tanks can handle a tank-cracking juice for a while... it's not like you're pouring gasoline into a Styrofoam cup... it won't deteriorate immediately

Bump when you get something in vape mail.
Earthling789 replied to Tam's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I've had this happen more than once... my carrier would leave a box on top of my mailbox, or on the ground next to the mailbox... I'm in a rural area, and the a-holes that live out my road will not hesitate to drive slowly by and snag a box... having no idea what is inside it, but knowing they'll be able to use it, hock-it, or sell it to someone sooner or later.... After having maybe a dozen packages stolen like this... my mail-lady now pulls off the road, drives up my long driveway, and will deliver any box which is too large for my mailbox directly to the door... or she'll leave it in the cab of my pick-up (which is never locked) if nobody is home or it's raining. It sucks that your package was stolen, and even more that you'll be out $ for theft... -
I prefer a plain eGo-T (1100mAh) for my Kanger mini tanks... bullet-proof, simple, and cheap They are my go-to for back-ups and traveling on my motorcycle because they take up so little space, and I can carry four batteries and four tanks in my 5.5" x 3" x 1.5" HCigar MOD pouch... and it fits nicely in my jacket pocket or tank-pouch... For box-mods... I've not tried the iStick, but I'm a firm advocate for the MVP 2.0... The button on the MVP is stiff, but I find it feeling "secure" because you don't accidentally fire it off. I also spin it around and use my first or middle-finger to fire it because using my thumb feels awkward. I've used a VTR, and I'm getting closer and closer to buying one... I like the form-factor, tank placement, and the fact I can replace the batteries on-demand, rather than waiting for it to charge. I've done the VV stick batteries (like the Spinner and Twist), but since I prefer 3.6-3.8V anyway (with the coils/juices I use), paying extra for a VV eGo-style just doesn't make sense... thus why I gravitate towards eGo-T's... They're reliable, cheap, and I don't think twice about giving one (or two) away to a noobie, or being pissed if one gets damaged or lost

Any cat people out there
Earthling789 replied to joejoevapekins's topic in The Vape Lounge - Off Topic Chat
I'm not a "cat-person", per se, but I've had cats in my home since I was old enough to remember... I currently have two, an older cat that we took in because the family was in need (kids were allergic), and a kitten that my son rescued during a flood back in the summer. I really prefer my big dogs... Great-Dane, English Setter, and English Mastiff. Cats are not really pets, IMO... they "tolerate" humans by letting you live in their house, and they keep you around to clean their litter box and feed/water them, only because they feel entitled to human servants Seriously, a "good" cat can be a good friend and lap-warmer. They do go nuts over a laser pointer (then again, so does my English Setter). A litter-box (with a dome-top to contain odor and keep the area clean), clumping cat-litter, and a bowl for food and water and you're pretty much set. Most cats will find the highest point in the house to lay down, so don't freak out if you find it on top of the refrigerator or shelving, lol. A scratching post is a good thing too, but it's better to get them de-clawed (because they rarely ONLY use the assigned post for scratching/sharpening claws). Spay/neuter is also a must for cats... females will get knocked-up simply by stepping outside, and males will scent your furniture, walls, carpets, etc to mark their territory once they hit puberty... worst smell EVER (and can ruin your house)! Now, if you tend to have mice in your area... keeping a cat (with claws) is a good idea, especially females. Only the laziest of cats will ignore a good "hunt", so they will help keep your home mouse-free... although you have to learn to accept their "gifts" of partially chewed mice... which they will leave in conspicuous places (to get your praise/approval) To me, the only bad things about cats are the fact they tend to shed 10x worse than my dogs, and they get in/on places they should not be... such as kitchen counters, dining table, bed (leaving hair all over fresh bedding or clothes), etc. -
I had an '89 SPG... YES, it was a sweet ride, easy to work on, and I wish I had never sold it (since they are now highly sought-after collectibles)

Tam, I always figured you for a polka-dot kinda gal

Must be made in partnership with Ikea... They give you "almost" all the parts to assemble that wobbly cabinet
-
Oh, my OCD is kicking in... You're lucky you're not local to me... or I'd be following you around with a polishing cloth On a side-note... I've not over-stressed over the patina build-up on my Copper and Brass MODs... that is until right now... must... resist... urge... to ... polish...
-
Thanks for the links Joe, and I believe you're right... ACE or one of the local hardware stores should have one to fit it... if not, I'll have to try my luck online... It just amazes me though... they give you two sets of post screws, one or two juice-fill screws (with o-rings), and a ton of other o-rings... but no spare air-flow screw?
-
I've got the Panasonic batteries... but I'm still holding out for a VTR that isn't finger-print-magnet-chrome or Jungle-camo that looks like it fell out of the 1960's If they'd just make a black/chrome or black/brass or even a Titanium Blue like the MVP, I'd have already bought one.... I've been running into them from time to time for < $70... I guess if they won't offer one in a different color, I'll just buy a Chrome version and wrap it

Nope, checked that... as well as searched a 6-foot radius around my tank stand with a bright flashlight... Like I said... I think it caught me not looking and ran away

Okay, my V2 Russian 91% has not left my office... really not even left my desk in weeks. I rebuilt it last weekend, and filled it up, then sat it on my rack to wick fresh juice. Tonight, I picked it up and noticed a little juice around the air-flow adjustment screw hole... I cleaned it up with a q-tip, popped it onto my MOD and fired it up... WOW, wide-open air-flow... Soooo, where'd my air-flow control screw go?? It grew legs, and moved away... no forwarding address I checked my spare-parts that came with both Russians... juice-filler screws, o-rings, more o-rings, even more o-rings, and two sets each of post screws... but no air-flow screws So, anybody know where I can get replacements? Obviously without paying war-prices for a tiny allen-head screw?

I like the recessed 510, and the button-press never bothered me, but I DO wish they'd move that button to the short-side so it were more ergonomic... Still though, a good buy if they will be the same price as the MVP 2.0. If they push them at $70, I'll pass and hold-out for the 3.0... or just buy a VTR and be done with it.

There is nothing wrong with leaving your tanks (clearomizers) loaded with juice and ready to vape. I'm looking at 14 in my rack right now Tam is correct on the batteries. I rarely turn mine off unless I know I won't be using it for a long period of time (weeks), or if I'm afraid the button will be pressed in transit (case, jacket pocket, backpack, etc.). As long as the button is not pressed, there is nothing to drain the battery, so leaving them "on" will not drain them. Much like leaving batteries in your flashlight... as long as it is not "in use", there is nothing to drain the battery/batteries. Leaving a tank attached to a battery while not in use is also fine... but like Tam said, it is a good idea to remove them occasionally (every refill or two) to swab up any drops of juice that leaks through the bottom of the tank's atomizer / air-tube onto the battery contact...

Jason gets a gold-star One thing I will point out is the expense of getting started.... A simple RDA/RTA/RBA and a Mech Mod can be fairly cheap, but as Jason pointed out, two or four GOOD batteries, a few spools of Kanthal, wick material, cutters, torch (an old lighter will do in a pinch), cutters, ceramic tweezers, AND OHM METER will add to that cost rather quickly. You can do it for under $100, but I always want to point out the initial expense... And, I stress "initial", because after you buy all this stuff, you'll only have to keep yourself stocked (a little here, little there)...

Hi John, and Welcome to VT! First of all, are you using the coils that came with the tank? If so, they are usually garbage coils, which are poor performers and short-lived. Pick up a pack of coils from the VT store, another reputable online retailer, or a reputable Brick and Mortar store. I would suggest 1.5 or 1.8 Ohm coils (I prefer 1.5 for dual-coils). If you're not using the included coils (or even if you are), it would also help to know the resistance of the coils, type of battery your using (and settings), and the pg/vg ratio of your juice. We can make better suggestions with that info

Spinner 2 May Be a Gonner
Earthling789 replied to Bebop's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
I had the same thing happen to one of my eGo-Ts a few weeks ago... worked fine, put it on the charger, went green, assumed it charged, but it never came back on... put it back on the charger and lights flashed as they should, and charger would not change from red even after 6-hrs. It was maybe 6 months old (bought in May), and it did see some rain once or twice, but that was months ago. As with any battery, sometimes you just get a defective one that won't last long I've not pulled the trigger on a Spinner, because I don't care for the extra expense of VV when I use 3.6-3.8V normally with my KPT3-minis @ 1.5 Ohms. Hopefully, Vision hasn't started making some second-rate batteries with their V2's... Something like this will seriously hurt their reputation... -
I have both Kanger singe and dual-coil tanks, and use both regularly. The EVOD and KPT2 use singles, and my AeroTanks and KPT3-minis use duals. As Comp stated, the duals do produce a slightly better flavor and in some cases more vapor (depends on the juice, etc.), and as both Comp and Tam pointed out, the singles are slightly cheaper. Both last relatively equally when all other variables are the same (juice/battery). Do I prefer one over the other? Not really But each has their place, and one of my juices only tastes "right" in a single-coil tank... which is why I regularly use both, lol. As for cost... For max-savings, I'll only buy in bulk (50-pack cases), so YMMV on costs, but in-general, dual-coils will run from 10-50-cents higher cost (each). B&M prices will break-the-bank, charging upwards of $3 each, regardless of single or dual-coil, so stick to online purchases when you can, and once you have a little stockpile, you can have the luxury of looking for bulk-deals (where the real savings are). comparing a single-coil to a dual-coil, and found overall, annual cost-savings (using singe over dual) to be about what you'd pay for a nice dinner out with your significant-other... so it really boils down to what you want to use... yes the dual-coils offer a slightly better flavor, slightly better vapor, but cost a bit more and burn more juice per "hit"... so it's a give-and-take.

Actually, it's not uncommon for two identical batteries, charged in the same charger, to read a different "charged" voltage, minutes after they are removed from the charger. Check them with a multi-meter 2-4 hours after charging and you'll see a truer reading of their charge level. Discrepancies between battery charge peak has more to do with the battery than the charger. As batteries age, or have a slightly different % of chemical make-up between the two, they will charge differently, to different levels, and discharge differently. Does it mean your battery showing 4.1V is bad? No, it could simply mean your meter is reading/rounding them differently, and actual peak voltage is 4.15 and 4.14, and it is even possible that the battery reading lower will have a higher mAh charge-capacity (last longer). The on-board charger is likely charging in parallel (since they discharge in parallel), which is the simplest/cheapest way to charge/discharge them. I've never seen the on-board charger of the IPV3, but I would suspect this is the set-up for cost-effectiveness... Reading the Voltage of a battery, hours after charging, will give you a far better picture of it's health. A battery at the end of it's life-cycle may show 4.1V as soon as it comes off the charger, but 3 or 4 hours later, it may only show 3.6V, or something else, which is far below the fully-charged level.

Nicotine is a stimulant, so it is not responsible for the cough or his lethargy. Some people smoke 4 packs a day of full flavor (and dip/chew at the same time)... so who's to say he is getting "too much"? Nicotine is not the enemy... the other 4000 chemicals in smoking are the enemy BTW, the nicotine levels in patches are a drop in the bucket... even the strongest ones only dose you with the equivalent of a few cigarettes (time-released doses, too)... smoking with a patch on your arm might give you a momentary buzz, but hardly the level of an overdose... As I said... nicotine is a stimulant... that would explain thrashing in his sleep... kinda like drinking a pot of coffee and chasing it with a 2-liter of Mt. Dew right before bed

I'm not a fan of cream either... most of the "commercial" juices I've tried tend to over-kill the cream flavors, or they taste like sour butter-milk (and dirt) in the back of my throat. I must say, Comp's juices which have cream don't taste like that... they have a sweet, whip-cream flavor, which is a pleasant surprise... no over-kill, no burnt after-taste. I've had a few others that were decent cremes, but like I said, the vast majority are not pleasant.
