Just two? I'm on #4
-
Yep, that's it... Beat me to it

The original SVD won't fire below 1.3 Ohms, but the SVD2 will fire down to 0.5 Ohms, but at that low, the output will be weak due to the Amp limiter being 6A, which puts you at 3V max.

You learn to manage with the button on the long-side... it's not horrible, but I agree, the short-side is so much more comfortable. I've been leaving the eGo adapter on my blue one... since the iSticks ARE replacing my eGo-T's, and I've been using my KPT3-minis more than the full-size tanks, it's not been an issue... but I've also been considering getting one of the 510 flip-connectors for using my larger tanks, so I can fold the unit for better portability... and not risk damage to the original threading.

I love my MVP, and my only complaint ever has been with the position of the button. I face it forward and fire it with my finger rather than my thumb, but I would very much have preferred it to be facing on the short-side like the VTR or iStick.... At least the new V3 will have it "right", lol. I bought a blue iStick from my B&M, and the color reminds me of the 1960's Aluminum cups my mother served iced-tea in (wow, I just told my age, lol). The color is vibrant and VERY blue, and it really comes to life with the polished Stainless Steel of my KPT2's and KPT3-minis... I'm waiting for the VT store to restock too... I'm trying to decide now between black and silver for #2.... although either will be perfectly fine with me My only concern with them is the 510 threading... some say they strip-out easily, and the one I have seems to have some "slop" in the threads, but so far seems to be working just fine.

Nothing wrong with what you purchased, but you'll need to use the extension tube with the Nautilus, because it won't fit along the side of the VTR, like the iClear30 or KPT2 will, because of the retainer-ring... the Nautilus is too big
-
I'm just glad they decided to put the firing button on the short-side! Now to check the couch-cushions for spare change, and wait for the V|T store to stock them

It will get better Knowing that I only have a few flavors, I tend to keep specific flavors in specific style tanks (because they taste better in those tanks), but when I mix-and-match so to speak, my sense of smell has gotten so much better over the past 9-months that I can usually identify the flavor by the smell of the juice. Drip-tips are excellent ideas if you have multiple flavors, and the tip can follow the flavor, regardless of the tank you put it in.

Constant Burnt Taste from Vape
Earthling789 replied to cbielich's topic in General Vaping Discussion
All things being equal, I must agree with everyone else and blame the liquid. I also second BCarter, in suggesting a different tank... KPT2, KPT3, AeroTank, Nautilus, or Nautilus Mini? To each his own preference, but my experience with top-coil tanks like the iClear30 and 16 series were inconsistent flavor and an overall burnt taste on any juice I tried. I have two 16's and a 30, cleaned and with fresh coils... honestly waiting for a new home -

^^ This ^^ I agree! To prevent confusion, and "maybe" cases of fit... I would suggest using the list as given by Kanger for single-coil tanks: EVOD ProTank ProTank 2 ProTank 2 Mini Unitank Then, if users "know" and "trust" using equipment, other than for it's intended purpose, it will be at their discretion.... This will increase customer satisfaction, decrease returns, and lower overall costs for the V|T Store At least that's my $0.02.... -
Alright Members - Single Coil Feedback
Earthling789 replied to Christopher's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I refilled a KPT2 (with Aerobase) and AeroTank with the same juice once, and mixed up the Aerobases, putting the single-coil on the AeroTank. When I went to put the Aerobase on the KPT2, obviously, it didn't fit (too tall because of the dual-coil)... that's when I realized the issue. In that short period of time, the AeroTank already had a puddle of juice under it. So, no, for me, the single-coil did not seal properly on my AeroTank. I have tried a single-coil twice on my KPT3-minis... both times were messy failures with leaking out the bottom, center-tube-flooding, etc... and juice sucked up the center-tube, like a straw, is NOT a fun thing to wake-up to in the morning After those three failures, I've not attempted to try a single-coil in a dual-coil Kanger tank again. -
Some juices will "pop" like the grease in a pan of cooking bacon... It generally means your power is too high, or the airflow is too high (causing the coil to over-wick). I'm assuming you're using the meter on your Vamo to measure the coil(s)? APV meters are generally "close", but not as accurate as a dedicated meter. Although 1.5 Ohms is not considered low, and your Vamo and Sony battery will handle the load just fine.

What is the resistance of the coil you built? What device are you using to fire it? Welcome to VT, BTW

eBay is notorious for clones, knock-offs and factory-seconds... Unless I am familiar with the vendor, or they have thousands of positive reviews (and a 99%+ rating), I won't even consider buying from them. The V|T store has all genuine products, and some of the best prices of all the vendors I use. Sweet-vapes is also excellent on prices and products. I also shop around for sales, coupons, and many people here will post up good deals from reputable sites when they pop up. If you are buying Aspire coils for $2 each, you're getting a good price... I paid $10.99 for my last box of 5 (caught a sale), but usually I see them for $12+ per box.

Have you Made the Switch AND Cut to Zero?
Earthling789 replied to JohnnyFog's topic in General Vaping Discussion
I smoked for 30 years, and leveled-out at 18mg within a few weeks of vaping... and just recently started using 12mg in my daily-vapes. I still have 24, 18, 16, 15, 12, 9, 6, 3, and 0mg juices... and they all have their time and place. Nicotine is NOT the enemy, it's like caffeine, just a stimulant (naturally occurring in every plant and fruit on the planet). Maybe someday I'll go down to 0mg for all my juices... maybe someday I'll replace vaping with a new hobby... but I don't see it happening for a very long time... After-all, it took me 30 years to replace my smoking habit with vaping -
Hey, I care Glad you got the right wire and nailed-down the proper resistance. It helps to know your wire!

The culture of smoking vs vaping
Earthling789 replied to JohnnyFog's topic in General Vaping Discussion
Healthcare and the "industry" has gotten nuts over "tobacco" recently... and since e-cigs have evolved into mainstream, even your health-insurance and most employers are no longer asking "do you smoke?", they are asking "to you use nicotine?", which is absolutely absurd, since nicotine is a naturally occurring substance in nearly every plant and fruit on the planet! But, the health-industry MUST classify e-cigs as a "tobacco-product" in order to fit the dialogue and mantra so the FDA, healthcare, and big-tobacco can control the industry (and impose taxes to fill everyone's coffers). I actually called-out my health-insurance agent recently on the double-standard... They impose a $50/month "sin-fee" on smokers, and have for the past 5 years... this year they included the language to include "nicotine use" in the fee. I pointed out the hypocrisy that our health-plan pays 100% for nicotine patches, nicotine gum, chantix, et-al to aid in helping someone quit (and they are not imposed any fees if they use a patch/gum), yet those of us that have kicked the nasty habit of smoking by using vaping are still included with "smokers"! She looked at me long and hard... started to say something, then stopped herself... then she leaned in close and said, "check the box for non-smoker, AND check the box for no-nicotine-use"... she agreed it was a rather stupid and condemning double-standard... and just a way to generate revenue! As for your stealth-vaping in the bathroom... yeah, if you get caught they'll probably crucify you... you'd probably have more luck getting away with dissecting a live patient in the lobby.... -

Did I Buy The Wrong Coils?
Earthling789 replied to T-Bone's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
I did try a single-coil in my AeroTank once (accidentally)... and before I could fill the KPT2 and realize I had put the wrong base on the AeroTank (swapped them), there was quite a puddle building under it I've intentionally tried a single-coil in my KPT3-minis, twice, and both times were "messy failures".... -
Advantage of APV over Mech-Mod?
Earthling789 replied to Earthling789's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
I know the feelings about tanks, flavor, etc.... I have some juices that taste fantastic in Kanger tanks, one juice that tastes best only in a Nautilus, and a couple that are heavenly in an RTA but taste like wet socks in a KPT2 ... Rarely do I build any coils that require more than 20W, and anything more than 12-15W in my AeroTank or Nautilus would just cook the juice The IPV-mini is not exactly "mini", I agree, but I think it will serve me well for quite some time... and if I need smaller portability, I have my MVP, iStick, and a few eGo's still kicking... -

Advantage of APV over Mech-Mod?
Earthling789 replied to Earthling789's topic in Variable Voltage & Wattage
Well, I was going to pick-up another iStick yesterday, but something told me to hold-off and look for a decent APV that uses 18650 batteries. Based off Joe's suggestion (on another thread), I did some digging on the IPV-mini. 30W, floating top-pin, solid-construction, uses a good chip-set, and most importantly (to me)... uses 18650 batteries So, this fits and exceeds my requirements, and now I won't be buying a VTR anytime soon (if ever)... because I can use the IPV-mini with my Russians, full-size Nautilus tanks, AND an RDA (without having to cut off a retainer ring, or be limited to 15W, lol). If I ever need more than 30W, I can always step-up to a Sigelei 100+ I won't be tossing away my mechanicals, and will likely buy another (or four, or six, lol), and I'll likely pick-up another iStick (or MVP 20W if the price is right) as another back-up for my back-ups, but a quality, regulated box-mod will certainly keep me happy with consistent hits, every press of the button! Now, to find a black one "in stock", and at a reasonable price.... 101vape.com only has silver ones, but I've not found anything to beat the $49.99 + $2.99 S+H price-tag, so I may be buying silver instead.... -
They will work the same... it's the same volume of wick for each coil. The one with 16 wicks is actually 4 small wicks for each coil, and you see the 4 wicks sticking out each side of each coil to = 16 visible wicks, but it is actually only 8 long wicks. The one with 4 visible wicks is just a thicker wick (taking up the same volume/space as the 4 smaller ones)... one wick per coil, showing sticking out each side, which appears to be 4 wicks, but actually only 2 long wicks.

Earthling789 replied to T-Bone's topic in Troubleshooting & Technical Issues
This will give you a better idea on why the single-coils won't work (or work well) in your dual-coil tank, and give you a full-list of the different versions of the dual-coil heads, compared to the long-stem version of the single-coil head: As you can see, the height of the coil-head is much shorter on the single-coil, which means it will not touch (and seal) the bottom of the center-shaft in your tank. The silicone cap must seal-off the center-shaft (to maintain the vacuum seal), else the juice will just flood into the center-shaft, flood the coil (from the top) and leak all your juice out the drip-tip, and bottom air-hole ports.
